In book one, Kenni’s path takes her to Virginia where she runs into Haze. After not seeing him for years, she finds out that time had been treating Haze well. He’s far from the next door neighbor with busted shoes and hand me down clothes that she remembers. Time has provided him with money, cars, and jewelry, all the stuff that Kenni had been fascinated with, that he didn’t have back then. With Kenni going through her problems with Bridge, he’s a welcomed change from her everyday reality. There’s only one problem; Haze is in a serious relationship with his girlfriend, Whitney. When Hans moved he and his brother, he never thought he would run into Saylor again. However, fate had other plans and placed her back into his life. Saylor had always been the one on his radar back home. He loved everything about her, and for a moment they shared a small fling. A few years older and having lived life, Hans is ready to hang up his player ways and make Saylor his woman. Except Saylor is caught up in a three way triangle with Darren and Brix. While Saylor thinks she’s being a friend to Darren by helping him out, he’s seeing it as more. After running into Brix, the two dance around their feelings like they’ve done in the past. Saylor is still hurt that Brix chose Juleena, and Brix is hurt that Saylor didn’t fight hard enough for what they had. In this finale, Kenni and Saylor fight to discover what true love feels like. Their road has many curves, however, when true love is real, no matter the obstacles, true love always wins. Will Kenni get the courage to leave Bridge? Will Saylor choose to rekindle a relationship from her past? Find out in part two of All the Dope Boys Gon’ Feel Her.
This finale was AMAZING!! It hit so close to home for me. Although I wanted Kenni to have her happily ever after, I feel like this ending was needed. It was needed because its someones truth. I felt like I was reading my moms truth, so while it was a good read it was an emotional read for me. July 26, 2015 my mother was shot and killed at our local ATM by her ex boyfriend. So it's important that women know that when they leave IF they leave.... that is considered the most dangerous time of their lives, when trying to end a domestic relationship. I am thankful my mom or Kenni is no longer living in fear. Thanks Jah, job well done!!!!
Jah’s writing is unmatched. I loved reading this story but hated it at the same time. Kenni, babygirl, you deserved so much better than what Bridge gave you. This is truly a story about being a product of your environment. Both Kenni and Bridge were two broken, unhealed people trying to love each other the best way they knew how.
I hate Bridge for killing Kenni. I knew he was grooming her from the start sadly a classic case of a DV relationship. This book was sadly realistic for so many people who experience DV. I shed tears at the end and at Saylor’s letter, but I’m happy Kenni had a bestie like Saylor. I loved Saylor’s character development and the love she’s receiving with Hans. I wanted Haze and Kenni to be endgame, but Kenni was truly stuck in a toxic cycle of abuse😭

Five stars… but just know — this one does NOT come wrapped in a bow.
This book took me through it. I came in hoping for peace, closure, and maybe a little redemption… and Jahquel said, “Life doesn’t always work like that.” The story was raw, real, and painful in a way that sticks with you. This isn’t one of those neat happily-ever-afters — it’s one of those endings that sits heavy on your chest long after you close the book.
Still powerful. Still worth the read. Just don’t walk in expecting sunshine.
Reader Advisory (no spoilers): Sometimes… we don’t get happy endings in these streets.
I had trouble with this book at first because of the triggers and it made me look at my life then I felt happy cause she found love but didn't know how to let go of her past and move on in order to be happy but I did thank god. This is an excellent book with a very moving life lesson
I had Kenni had to deal with all the abuse, the cheating the lies. We as women see the red flags but because we dont think nobody else will love us with all the damage and baggage we stay. Saylor, I'm happy she found her happy ending
Lawdt, the stupidity of it all. I get why she got into it and how she was so codependent she stuck around. BUT, when you have people in your corner who can help you out to get on your feet there is no longer any excuses.
Saylor is dope! I love that girl. She wanted her own and made that happen. She was a fool once with Darren and learned fro. Her mistakes.
Brix I’m happy for his ending BUT he missed out on my girl Saylor and for what?
Hans and Haze, two good brothers. I hope Haze can get his HEA.
Supreme, how can you watch the abuse for years and feel guilt at the end. Save that BS for someone else.
Bridge, rot in hell.
I liked that the ending was what it was and not your typical ending. I feel like this was more realistic of a story.
The back and forth repetition, the writing errors and even the mixing up character names was however supremely annoying and therefore I could only give the bare minimum of a 3 star rating.
All I can say is wow and very eye opening. I just wished Kenni knew how beautiful and a gem she was. DV is real and I hate how she felt she wasn’t enough. Definitely wished for a different outcome and this is the first book I’ve ever read where I almost shed tears of sadness. I, happy Saylor got her happy ending though. She deserved it
I really struggled with this series not because of personal experiences but because of what could be. This could be anybody a sister, cousin or best friend. I pray if anyone is suffering that they will be able to seek help. 💜
This book was really good but hard to read. I just knew both girls were going to get their happy endings once Hans and Haze popped back up. I was really hoping for it. I wish Jah gave us an option on what we wanted the ending to be lol click here for this ending or click here for that ending. I know and understand why she chose this ending, though. All women don't get happy endings. Especially the ones involved in domestic violence. I like how this book could've been real. I saw the red flags when it came to Bridge when they first met. Him throwing both cups down the street and him saying she's beautiful when she's mad? Yes, sis should've kept walking away like her mind told her to. Except she was so consumed with material things and trying to get out of the hood. After sitting and reflecting after the book, what bothered me the most was that EVERYBODY KNEW HE WAS BEATING HER! Everyone said to leave and that she'd leave when she was sick and tired of being sick and tired, but nobody aided her into trying to leave in my opinion. Saylor put out her offers but come on this is your best friend, do better than that. Do more than that. I wish they would've sat down and drew up a plan on her leaving. Towards the end she had ran out of excuses on why she stayed. Plus she was ready to leave but fear had her stuck. And Bridge had her so brainwashed. I'm really sad Kenni went through all of that and dealt with all of that and not get her happy ending. But like we said before, that's realistic. I like books that make me think about different scenarios or try to come up with solutions and have a hold on me after I'm done reading it. This one is going to be on my mind for awhile. I really don't like domestic violence books even though I called it from just reading the blurb but i was curious and looking forward to a survivor getting her happy ever after. I really wanted Haze to get his girl. I could tell at their young age that he was really really feeling her. I honestly don't think he got his happy ending either cuz he really wanted Kenni but she was showing that she wasn't leaving so why keep chasing her. Man this book was really good. I recommend it if you want to feel and the feels while reading a book.

Listen Jahquel's brain needs to be studied because she is the real GOAT. I was really rooting for Kenni. Yes, I thought she was a ghetto Platinum Digger in book one. As the story unfolded, I began to have sympathy for her. It's real easy for people to say what they would do in someone else's situation. It's different when you are in that person situation. Kenni had a rough life in the hood with her jealous mother and non-existent father. She looked out for her brothers as best as she could. Her only goal was to make it out the hood. Bridges took her out the hood. He was the opposite of a savior. He wanted to possess Kenni and break her down so that she would never leave him. He didn't want anyone else to have her meanwhile, he dogged her out every chance he got.
I wanted Saylor to save Kenni. I know that's a lot to put on a best friend. They were more than besties. They were more like sisters. Saylor struggled with finding a man to chose her and put her first. She always came second in their lives. I was so happy when Haze and Hans showed back up. I just new we would get a happy ending. Instead, it felt like a real life ending. Well, that's what makes Jahquel an amazing author.
Yes, i cried real bad and I forgive you Jahquel.
Check your trigger warnings before you read this book. Its a lot of Domestic Violence.
This book was a lot to unpack. It’s the classic struggle of a young woman wanting better for herself but getting caught up with someone who claims to love her while constantly tearing her down. The story shows what it’s like to be stuck in that painful cycle — loving someone who mistreats you, waiting on them hand and foot, hoping they’ll finally change.
I felt so sorry that Kenny never got the love she needed or deserved. It’s heartbreaking that she gave so much of her time and energy to someone who wasn’t worthy of her. The story started off good, and even though I hated how it ended, I couldn’t stop reading.
I was happy that Saylor eventually found real love. I just wish she had found the courage to leave sooner, because love was there waiting for her. Haze would have had her back completely.
This book is sad, but powerful. It’s a reminder that domestic violence is real — and it takes incredible strength to walk away. My message to anyone in that situation: find your courage and fight for yourself. Because once you fight for you, others can fight for you too. Overall, Dope Boys Going to Feel Hurt was a great read — emotional, eye-opening, and definitely a page-turner.
This book is good and also this happens in real life Domestic Violence Awareness. Kenni She was young, naïve in a lot of ways, but also an angel. She try to live a good life For herself and her brothers , Saylor her best friend Loves her. She was a very good friend. Kenni was also a product of poverty physical abuse from her mom, abusive boyfriend, Bridge, who is Predator 10 years older he was master of manipulation lHe knew she was very young only 18 he wanted control, In her eyes, Kenni wanted out of the hood poverty She wasn’t thinking smart at the time , She ignored the first red flags of him the first cheating time, put his hands on her, His cousin and his aunt knew he was abusive and they let it go on. They didn’t save her. Bridge was controlling everyone around him with his money Supreme step in too late He could’ve saved Kenni , He stepped in and Turn Bridge in to the Authorities happy Bridge is serving time in life in prison, which he deserves. This sad story is part of life choices Must be smart, making choices in men and life .. Only have one life .. Live it, smart and cherish it
Brix, Juleena and Saylor play their song and dance until Saylor jumps off the floor. Imagine running into their past as Kenni sees Haze! She is ecstatic to see him in the flesh. While the old crew felt together Saylor, Kenni, Haze and Hans only one couple will see the real picture for what It is worth. Hans and Saylor decide to go for it while Kenni still tries to find the good in Bridge. More babies and new baby mamma’s. Bridge cannot get enough and he will continue to hurt Kenni. Their relationship is sooo damaged but until a person is fed up the relationship will continue. Haze can’t see past Kenni and will give up his current if he only had a fair chance. When Terri Kenni’s mom is diagnosed and is dying Kenni tries to see some ounce of good it still does not work. Brix still confused about being love verses just loving someone helps him lose the woman he truly wanted to be with but it is proven it is never too late for love! Prepare your heart to be hit by a truck as tragedy strikes and lives will never be the same. R I P
I’ve never been in an abusive relationship and don’t have any close friends or family members in one so it’s hard to understand the Kenni’s of our world. Of course in literature and even in the news I’ve read the stories but I’ll never understand why the victims stay. No amount of statistics or stories can explain it but this book did a good job of showing how helpless Kenni’s loved ones were to her plight. Kenni was the typical victim that was stuck and in fear yet loved her abuser and her childhood made her that way. Bridge was supposed to be her protector but was instead who she needed protection from. Maybe we should do interventions for abuse victims like we do addicts. Running into Haze and Hans again was life changing for Saylor indeed and should’ve been for Kenni but she was stuck. Brix played himself when he choice Ju. I’m glad Saylor kept it moving and was surprise in the epilogue to see Brix’s update.
Even though I knew it was coming, I wasn't ready for that ending. DV is real, and it takes so much for that person to love themselves enough to get out of it. I loved Haze for being the mirror Kenni needed, however she wasn't truly prepared for the reflection. The fact that he could admit to Whitney that they both were wrong and move past it in order to build their relationship was admirable. Hans and Saylor's relationship blossomed into something they both needed, and I was so here for it! Somebody needed to drop Bridge off of a bridge a long time ago, maybe he wouldn't have destroyed so many people's lives with his toxicity. As always, great job Jahquel! ❤
I tried to read this as slow as I could. Almost afraid of what the end would bring. Great body of work. Real life issues. Sometimes the most confident don’t love themselves enough, to know their worth. Lil girls don’t understand theres a price to pay for the glitz and glam. They just want to elevate their circumstances but at what cost ? Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. Life’s a gamble. Fate is real. It happens when it’s suppose to and what’s for you will be for you. What belongs to someone else will never be for you. This book took me through so many emotions and I expect nothing less from Jahquel. Per usual great job. Go one click you won’t be disappointed
This felt rushed, to me. This had the potential to be a fully descriptive novel. However, I felt like alot of. Things were glossed over. Initially the story seemed to be focus on Kenni, but towards the end. Saylor became the focal point. And truthfully, the second installment took, so long to come out. I had forgotten all about her , Brix and Darren. I never found Saylor, interesting.
Kenni’s story was underwritten, I wanted her to have a sit down with her mother. But sadly, we never got that. Then, at one point Bridge, was trying to do right by Kenni. Just for kenni to tell Haze in the next chapter. He was still abusing her, it was little inconsistencies like that. That bothered me, there was no mention. Of Hans, ever getting hos
This series tore me apart!!!! I loved Saylor and Kenni, I wanted them to both make it out the hood. As a 30 year old I've had my share of heartbreaks and although I've never been in an abusive one I know how hard it is to leave when you feel like you'll never experience love again once you've been with someone for so long. This book reminded me that love isn't enough and that I deserve to leave the table when respect is no longer being served. Jah baby you did your thing, I haven't cried like this since I read a moth to a flame so many years ago, you are a GOAT and I love your pen game, I know this wasn't a easy book to write but thank you for sharing your gift with us💛🙌🏽
This book I enjoyed more than the first one but was still rolling my eyes every time Kenni went back to Bridge. I thought for sure once she had Haze and Saylor in her corner to lean on she would have the courage to leave…I guess not. Even though it hurt to read, I’m glad Jah decided to go with this ending she presented-not every ending is a fairytale and some women don’t make it out. I am happy for Saylor because she deserved everything she got in the end (minus Kenni). I’ve never been in an abusive relationship (Thank God) and simply reading about one was so draining and weighing heavy on my heart. Thank you Jah for shedding light on DV and all the battles one goes through while they’re in it.
I really felt Kenni's Pain it is hard trying to leave someone; when you think that they are truly the 1 for you. I cannot say anything bad about this story, because know one knows how it feels to be in a DOMESTIC SITUATION unless you were in the same PREDICAMENT. It will always be easier said then done, the hurt that we have to ENDURE WHEN IN THESE TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS IS HEART BREAKING. Jahquel you did a GREAT JOB WITH THIS BOOK. I JUST HOPE THAT KENNI WAS ABLE TO GET HER HAPPY ENDING; BUT IT WAS NOT HOW THE STORY ENDED. I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT READ COME OUT THAT YOU WRITE.
Well I was very upset when I noticed how then the end was going but I guess when we have people reading our books we need to let people no how Reality come in yes there are black women that is in mess up relationships I watch my mother get bet for 30 plus years I fallow in her footsteps I wouldn’t not call her are would answer my boot when she came by because I have a black eyes are broken arm I have 2 broken fingers and a Friction skull 10 year I put up with it until god removed him off the face of this earth I don’t think I would ever left so just made I would have been like her but god chooses something for him well Author good job really
Thank You, thank you, Thank You!!! Everyone Needs This in their lives!!! I am Not in an abusive relationship - Me & My Husband= 25yrs Strong🙏😍🙏! But, I grew up around this All too similar scene of mental, physical & emotional abuse! By the grace of God- My Strong Selfless Mother Walked away, with her Life & her babies👏💓👏 All women, Young & old Need to understand that All that glitters ain't gold and "Things" don't make you and if you chase only that from ppl/relationships, it can Definitely end up breaking you! Soo much more I could say but, I'm Not one for long reviews- just had to say that You & This story, is Certainly Appreciated💞🎉💞
My heart is shattered—I couldn’t sleep, but I also couldn’t stop reading. My soul is in pain because there are so many Kennies in the world—women who are ashamed, afraid, terrified, and without a strong support village. He was, without question, the most selfish and hateful character in this storyline. What hurt even more was knowing that everyone saw the manipulation and abuse she was enduring.
I truly appreciate the ending you chose—it added so much depth and healing to the narrative. And bestie, that letter reading scene had me in tears. Hands down, this was a breathtaking, powerful work of art. Thank you for telling this story with such honesty and care.
I am beyond disappointed. I knew I wasn’t feeling the first book of this series, but I stayed because I was already too invested. Also, the title doesn’t fit the story at all. Anyway, for the story to drag on like a never-ending Tyler Perry script, then to actually kill off Kenni?! Be for real.
There were so many repeated lines and noticeable errors that made it even harder to stay engaged. I get that not every story needs a happy ending, life doesn’t always work that way. But, idk, this just felt lackluster, and by the end I honestly felt like I wasted my time.
If this had been my first book from this author, I would’ve never picked up another one.
Jah how I wished that things could have ended differently for Kenni. That ending had me in here with the snot bubble crying I was like no this is a bad dream and it was staged to get her away from Bridge so her and Haze could finally be together. Thank you for giving Saylor a happy ending. I don't think Haze should marry Whitney. Please let this be one of those staged deaths. You always read or see DV cases in 📺 and I pray and cry for those who make it out, not many do and I pray for them.
This book took me on an emotional journey to wherein didnt want it to end n I knew it had to I was hoping for an Happy ending but then realized I wouldn't get it she wouldn't allow it Haze gave her an out she gave her self an out n went right back because she felt those lies he told not changing where true she realized it til it was too late he didnt check on her n left her she died alone on the floor Alone I cried like a baby😥😪😭😭 reading the ending I enjoyed this book Thanks Jahquel 😘
I was so hurt behind what happened to Kenni but at the same time I wasn't surprised. I just wish she had more courage to leave Bridge the hell alone and got with Haze so that he could've showed her true love. Even though this was fiction, this happens in real life with domestic violence and mistaking it for love because they footing the bill. Nonetheless I enjoyed this read wish it was a different outcome but was happy for Hans and Saylor taking it to the next level and Brix finally getting his happy back and not with Saylor. Great read Jahquel J
A very good book I love the characters but I hated the ending I want to her to get her happy ever after the love in the life that she deserves to work the man that really loves her not a sadistic beast they beat her and he Roulo bad things to her but he never could DM a shout on my spirit more women need to seek help and domestic violence situation so they won’t be in a black girl it was a refreshing book and the characters made it seem as if it was the movie
