Hanna Collingsworth has endured years of torment and abuse at the foundling hospital.
The downtrodden red headed adolescent is overjoyed to be taken away to become a maid in the Albiston household.
Her first encounter with the master’s son Bertram however leaves Hanna unable to work and with misgivings about her future.
Grieve stricken and full of remorse, Bertram seeks to make things right. In Hanna’s convalescence, he finds himself hopelessly attracted to the young maid. They are worlds apart yet Bertram has never felt closer to anyone else.
In return, Hanna is terrified to succumb to her true feelings; afraid of scandal and the loss of her coveted position.
To add to their plight, Bertram’s father is adamant on a marriage proposal of his own making.
Will Societal norms dominate? Is there a future for these two? With Christmas soon upon them, his parents use lessons from their past to influence Bertram and Hanna’s lives forever.
"The Foundling A Christmas Gift for Hanna" and all Catharine Dobbs' novellas are wholesome Victorian Romances.
Hanna grew up in a Foundling hospital, where she was bullied and beaten most of her life. Bertram comes from wealth. Bertram literally knocked Hanna off her feet where she had become a servant in his household, and both fell for each other. I highly recommend this book.
👍💖 loved it. Story of hope and how love conquers all. Very heartfelt and hard to put down as I just HAD to keep going as I was so engaged in wanting to find what happens next. Great to see such a strong character in Hanna!
What an AMAZING STORY of days to riches of Cinderella if you wish! Hanna was a good person and had a GREAT work ethic and she had more heart than anyone! I'm looking forward to other stories like this!
This is a great rainy day read. I have never been one for class separations and I feel sorry for people who hold to this principle. They will never know what they may have missed.
