Violence: high mild to low moderate. There is a torture scene. It isn't graphic, but it is there. Character is poisoned.
Sexual: Some kissing and hugging. mild.
First, I really should've read the other Dragon books before this one. There was a lot referenced in what had happened with Kyn's brothers and their kingdom and how they defeated Valia. People I didn't know, secrets, mysteries etc. I assumed (incorrectly) that this would be one of those interconnected but not interdependent type of series. I mean, it isn't totally dependent on those other books, but I was a bit lost at how much was there that I didn't know anything about because I've only read the first book in the Dragon series.
Second, the romance. It was insta-love. There was no build up, they just jumped in and had zero reservations. I didn't care for it, as it felt unbelievable. Especially when the whole book happens within like two weeks? Sterling's devil may care way of just spilling all his secrets to Myra was just...unlikely. At least Myra held out longer, kinda.
It was a light read, fine if you need something you don't have to focus overly much on. But it's pretty amateur in the romance and character building. But, BUT, the author gets better! I read her later unrelated series Curse of the Dark Kingdom, and they are so much better on character conflict and psychology. Still a little too insta-love, but so so so much better! I adore seeing writer improvement!
This was a good premise but the book should have been a lot longer. Too many details were brushed over and everything felt rushed. There was a lot of info dumping to move the plot along. The relationship between the main characters was really sweet but too instant, even for an insta love trope. I would have liked to see a slower buildup.
This book is short, and honestly some parts could have used a longer explanation. Though this is the first book in this series it's clearly a spin off of another series. Those characters show up and the summaries were just too confusing to follow for me personally.
This wasn’t terrible. I used to love wolf book but I’m slowly starting to not like them as much. This one felt super rushed and there was a lot of information shoved together. The romance aspect was good but way too fast. It seemed like a retelling of a child’s book that someone tried to make more adult like. I definitely wouldn’t reread but it wasn’t awful. Give it a try if you like shifter books.

What a wonderful read this was! Amazing plot and story line that was so engaging from the start. Love how well the characters were fleshed out and the world building was just amazing and vivid. Such a wonderful tale has been woven with care and attention. Paranormal, action with romance and through in a few twists and turns as well made this a delight to read. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This book was absolutely great, and I’m not sure if I should be giving this 4.5 or 5 stars. I really enjoyed the whole premise and the way that it was executed was spot on. There was a case of what seemed to be insta-love, but the characters didn’t fall immediately in love with each other, so I guess it wasn’t? Not sure. I’ll think about it more in my full review.
One last thing I want to mention is just how cute and fluffy this was. Like think The Selection, but instead of royalty, there is magic! And better! I don’t know if The Selection is still on my favorites shelf, but if it is, this is better!
Full RTC!

Zemyra the Weaver, a timid mouse of a person, emotionally grows an enormous amount through this story which covers only a few days or weeks. Sterling proves to be an interesting member of the story. Some of the other characters, such as Helena, stand out as strong individuals. There were some points in the story that caused me to pause. Made me question whether to continue due to a sense of dread so profound that I was almost rooted in place. Because of these, it took me a few additional days to finish the story. Fear not. The story rapidly resolved all of the issues which caused me to pause.
Action-packed. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Informative. Inspirational. Romantic. Scary. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
The Snow Wolf was an fun start to the new Wolves Ever After Series which continues on from the Dragon Ever After Series. I enjoyed revisiting of some character previous characters, but reading the previous series, was not necessary to enjoy this story.
Sterling, the leader of the Wolfkin pack, having survived his previous escapades is found chasing new mysteries in the snowy mountains, where he encounters lonely, secretive Myra and the evil, but comical, Mirror King. Danger, secrets, adventures and new friendships enfold in this entertaining, easy read with a happy ending. I look forward to finding out what adventures befall the rest of the Wolfkin pack.

An Amazing Tale! “The Snow Wolf” is an action-packed paranormal tale of the evil Mirror King and those who would defend the innocent from him. This story is well written with drama, uncertainty, and suspense that make this an exciting tale that drawing you in. The main characters, Zemyra and Sterling are authentic and relatable, the perfect heroes for this tale. This tale is well worth the read and I highly recommend it.

My first novel by this author and it has some history connected to another series but I wasn't lost or confused by any means. The world is intriguing and a lot of the concepts are very interesting. I am always down for a good fairytale with a twist and this certainly has a lot of twists. It's a very quick and fast paced novel. I would have loved to have it expanded into a longer tale that really got to take it's time and dive into the cast of characters but it was very enjoyable and I will be looking into more of this author's work.
I really enjoyed this read very much. The way the story was built was great. The characters and storyline were wonderful. This is an interesting read with drama, suspense, romance, danger, action, an evil mirror king and shifters. Sterling wants to save his pack from evil and Zemyra might have the answer. You have to get this amazing read to find out what happens. I received a free review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
This is the kind of shifter story I really like. You have the wolf shifter young Alpha and the female who has some magic of her own. You have the antagonist and the danger and the scary crescendo. But you do not have the XXX rated scenes. You can see and feel the main characters falling in love, the worry and caring without all the stuff that should stay private. This is the type of book I can recommend to others.
This book had a story line but fell flat in the way it was written. It was like I was being told the story instead of living it. I got bored with it and didn't care much about it.
Was okay, I guess. It just felt kind of meh. I skim read a lot of it after 25%. I think reading the series prior to this would've made all the random characters that showed up more interesting. Unfortunately there's never really a good indicator if a series is set in the same world as another one and comes second. That being said, there's an info dump around 25% for that series which reads as not super important to this story so felt very "just to catch you up" and if you had read the other series would've been more unnecessary I think.
I liked the setting and the premise. I was fairly interested until around that 25% mark. The FMC is basically a hermit who has no one in her life, doesn't trust anyone, wants to be alone with her secrets. She's terrified of her secrets being discovered and is very wary when Sterling shows up digging around. She sends him on his way and is being told he's a fortune hunter which makes her extra leery of him.
But then he comes back the next day, gets stuck at her place in a snowstorm, they barely talk to each other the first night. Next day he's like hey teach me to embroider and she's like yeah cool. We're told they pass the day with light talk about hobbies and by the end of the day she spills most of her life's story to this guy. She believes him when he changes his story to an honorable reason why he wants to find the mirror king and gives him all the info he needs.
We also have these hints of romance in that day span. It seemed like a lot to go from someone super defensive and isolated, to someone who's willing to risk her life for a man she just met. He leaves the next day and she manages to survive 2 whole days before breaking down to go after him.
Overall it felt like there needed to be more time. More time dedicated to developing their relationship, Myra's trust, etc. The story felt like you would hit say the halfway point and hardly anything has happened. Nothing glaringly awful about the book, but it was very mediocre with some improbable things concerning the myra/sterling relationship/trust.
This appears to be a genderflipped retelling of the Snow Queen, featuring wolf shifter Sterling and Myra, a weaver with a secret or two. It's a sweet no-spice romance with plenty of action and fight scenes which keep it from being classified as cosy (and that's not a complaint). Overall, when the author gets into the story and the action, she delivers relatable characters and pretty good scenes and worldbuilding. I particularly liked the scene early in the piece where Myra reluctantly lets Sterling take shelter with her from a storm and she ends up teaching him to embroider - which he takes to enthusiastically. Got to love a hero who isn't afraid of picking up a needle! However, the reason why I've only assigned this three stars (or three and a half) is because there are parts that are way too rushed. Several times, I double-checked that this was a series starter and not Book 2+ in a series, as there was probably enough material to have provided an extra story in its own right. You could forgive the rush if it was Book 2 and what occurred in Book 1 needed to be recapped to get the reader up to speed. The beginning is particularly rushed and nearly had me abandoning the book straight away; I'm glad I persevered, though. I don't mind reading longer stories, so it's a real pity that too much important backstory - like how Sterling came to be looking for the Mirror King in the first place - was quickly told and glossed over in an infodump rather than shown. A few typos appeared here and there, so this could have benefited from an extra draft or two. The author certainly can deliver a good scene when she lets herself, so it's a shame that we missed out on seeing what happened previously rather than merely being told. It would have been good to introduce the society of dragon shifters earlier, for example.

This is the first book I’ve read from Ms. Holland and I enjoyed it very much. The world that she has created is filled with many different types of shifters and intriguing characters. The book sets up what I’m sure will be a great series that I look forward to reading. This story has something for everyone: action, danger, secrets, monsters, romance, and much much more. Get your copy and join the adventure of Sterling, Zemyra and all of other fun and interesting characters.
Both main characters have deep, dark secrets they hold close to their chests. They fear the consequences should the other or anyone else find them out. Sterling is searching for a dangerous and evil person that Zemyra might have information on. Unbeknownst to our two main characters they and the rest of their world are in grave danger from an ancient evil. A long-forgotten enemy is ready to rear its ugly head and war will follow and many will perish. Old dragon and fae lore might provide answers as to how to defeat this enemy they fought centuries ago.
With possible war coming for them Sterling and Zemyra have little time for romance. The many questions about their future don’t help them in their search for understanding and love. War, near death, and secrets are but a few of the many things facing Sterling and Zemyra. Their HEA will be a difficult road to travel for the two amidst everything that is going on.
THE SNOW WOLF is the first book in the Wolves Ever After series. Now, apparently, this is a spin-off from Ms Holland's Dragons series which I haven't read. I personally don't believe it necessary to have read those to enjoy this, but I will now be reading those anyway, as I love the world they are set in.
Myra hasn't had it easy and has isolated herself from everyone, living her life as a weaver in solitude. Sterling is looking for someone though, and thinks she can help. Being wolf-kin gives him an advantage because he can pick up on signs Myra tries so hard to hide from everyone else. What follows is a story full of action and adventure, with the slow blossoming of love along the way. I loved that neither of them tried to hide how they felt, which could have led to unnecessary arguments or drama. Instead, they are both there for each other, content to see where it goes.
Full of interesting characters and a storyline that will leave you wanting the next book, this was a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending. Another winner by this author! ** same worded review will appear elsewhere **

The writing was smooth, easy to read and the storyline was ok. The ending wasn’t great and left it wide open. Nothing felt finished.
I liked Myra and Sterling but there wasn’t enough chemistry for me. I know Sterling was very protective but he was with all his pack. Myra “knew” he was in trouble but that was her sixth sense, not really how she felt about him. They spent 2 days in her cabin but nothing really gave you a feeling they were falling for each other. I think they like each other but I’m not sure how much, you know?
The worst part is that everything combined left me flat and not even interested in seeing what the next book was about. But I was a good little book reader and looked anyways. The next book is about a character that isn’t even in this book. Figured it’d be one if the ones that showed up towards the end, one we got to know just a little bit, but I was wrong. Not going to continue the series. Not sure if I’d recommend this to anyone.
“Only Zemyra knew what really happened at the top of the mountain, when she’d woken in the Mirror King’s lair. No one else could ever find out.”
If you LOVE fast-paced action, insta-love, wolf-shifters, and fairytale retellings, (and are capable of ignoring a few typos as they come—devoted typo haters, be warned), this might just be your next great read!
I picked The Snow Wolf up on a whim. It was late. I was in bed. My reading app has a “Free” section…
And, well, the rest is history! (Seriously though, I should NOT have started it before bed—I was up WAYYY too late!)
Sterling and Myra were such beautiful characters! Though there were times I felt like I was stepping into a play after intermission (in the middle of the action without knowing what was going on—is this series perhaps linked to Holland’s Dragon Ever After series? I’m not sure…), the sweet, caring love that built between the characters was enough to keep me going.
Well, that and the fact that, A) It’s a Snow Queen fairytale retelling (one of my favourite fairytales!), and B) I am infinitely curious (often to my detriment, though, thankfully, that was not the case this time).
The whole concept of the Mirror King was fascinating to me! He was such a good villain! And I truly enjoyed the spin on the magic of the mirror in the original fairytale.
Sterling’s caring nature and protective instincts DEFINITELY had me fighting butterflies at times, but I LOVED that he never seemed to take Myra’s choices away from her for the sake of “safety.” It was a pleasant surprise (for those of you familiar with the genre, if you know, you know).
And Myra? She was such a sweetie. Reserved. Quiet. Spending her days weaving just outside a small village in the mountains. Some days, I would give just about anything to have that life. She was a very relatable character to me. (Quiet, soft FMC’s REALLY just have my heart.)
Overall, this sweet (clean!) wolf-shifter romance with a fairytale twist was just the pick-me-up I needed, and I hope you enjoy it too!
There are many types of secrets Telling the truth right away may be too steep a cost…yet sarcasm and other forms of deflection may come at too high a price. And as one character mentioned, they ‘get heavier every day’. Under certain circumstances, it’s better to share the burden and relieve oneself of worry and other negative energy.
Lessons learned: Trust your inner wolf. Know the difference between magic and superstition. Don’t blame yourself for the actions of an abusive person. Treasure hunting can be a double-edged sword when dealing with curses and legends. Always be prepared for the storm – whether nature-brought, animal-inflicted, or human-imposed.
Fave line: ‘Life is a game … If you’re not playing to win, then you’ll lose every time.’
May we all be able to begin our process of closure and our path forward when we ‘start looking where the Winding Road ends’.
More magical adventures await us in the next in series - ‘Red Wolf Hunting’.
Especially Sterling whom i met in “ once upon a Dragon”. First book in that series. (Only one in that series i have read, so far). I recommend reading that series first although it gets summarized in this one. I love seeing the protecting, loving side of the werewolf mate bond without the uncontrollable possessiveness and “mine” of the mate bond it is refreshing. Also no nudity when creatures phase HALLELUJAH. Awesome smooth flow to the story, sometimes i get antsy reading being like oh theres the 50% checkpoint and the 80% checkpoint, but here i felt like it transitioned really well and i was like oh lookie here we already hit that 50% point that makes sense. I like it.
Seriously, you can’t go wrong with a lonely independent person finally finding someone that wants to help take care of them while honoring who they already are. So good.
A fun and light fairytale reimagined with shifters. Clean romance, a fast read - due to the length of the book and the pacing. Although the tone was light there is plenty of action and some tension. An interesting world and enjoyable characters. Though I have 2 tiny weeny criticisms. Myra was far too afraid of her secret for what it turned out to be, and who she was telling, it didn’t feel quite right and Sterling was just a bit too ‘I must leap into danger to protect an almost complete stranger’. However, since he was a wolf shifter maybe that is part of the makeup - I have never read a shifter book before. I enjoyed this and will be looking at some of the others in this series.
The Snow Wolf is brimming with action and intricately crafted sentences. It's not a long book, which was refreshing, so I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a quick fantasy read.
Several sentences in the book were missing words that would've made them...make more sense and the primary romance was insta-love. There were also a lot of world-building and magic thrown at the reader at strange intervals throughout the book, kind of just felt convenient.
Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. I even had to highlight a few segments (which I never do) because the prose was beautiful.
This story is quite intriguing, but the occasional spelling error and grammatical flaw tend to disrupt involving yourself in the story.
It is quite clear this book is part of a series, with allusions to happenings elsewhere that are skated over, but its done in such a way that it doesn't distract from the story, which is just as well as I have not read any of the other stories. It did leave me feeling like I was not understanding some things that were explained elsewhere.
I really enjoyed this fantasy tale. The world building was solid. The characters were people I loved and got easily invested in. And the plot was interesting, too. It was nice to find a shifter fantasy romance tale which was clean as well as interesting. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy from teens on up.
I hope to see more of the couple, but the fantasy world stands without the romance. The romance is light and really just adds more to the story. The world building is fantastic. I enjoyed the different take on shifters. Left wanting for the next book but without a horrible cliff hanger. I'll definitely be reading the entire series.
It wasn't bad. I've read the Dragon Ever After series from this author, and I liked it, enough to pick Sterling's story. It could have been better. I don't understand why she stayed so close to the Mirror King, if she was terrified of him and of being discovered. There wasn't much to keep her in that place, other than some vague memories of her mother and how badly the townspeople treated them.
Magic paranormal a girl who lost her family put I. With horrible cruel people ran away only to find her self caught by trolls and a made man the kind self appointed then to be let go and make a life for herself but hiding so much until a man turns up and her life will never be the same
