The Havoc Boys #2

Chaos at Prescott High

Rate this book
There's one gang you don't piss off at Prescott High, not unless you want them to destroy you.
The Havoc Boys.
My enemies turned friends turned lovers.

These boys have never been saints, but this war that's brewing is resurrecting their inner demons.
Once upon a time, I was their target. This time, I'm calling the shots.
Senior year is my year.

This year, I'm going to bring down my enemies.
This year, I'm going to run my tongue along the blade of vengeance and taste blood.
The Havoc Boys are mine, and we were here first.

You don't mess with a Havoc Girl without paying the price.
You don't start a rebellion without a little bloodshed.
My boys and I don't mind using two wrongs to make a right—I just hope our brewing obsession with one another doesn't kill us all first.

CHAOS AT PRESCOTT HIGH is a 150,000 word mature high school/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. It has brief flashbacks of past bullying incidents as well as foul language and sexual scenes; any sex featured is consensual. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book two of three in the series.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

When you realise it's been half a month and your page number hasn't budged, it's usually time to give up on a book.

You may not agree with most of what I say in this review, you'll probably think I'm a petty bitch for the points I pick up on. You're probably right. But this is how I feel and I really think I might not be reading any more C.M. Stunich. The other thing that destroys my interest in this series is the fact that it's suddenly almost DOUBLED, from three books to five. I signed up for a trilogy and having to hang on for longer has made me realise that life is too short to commit to characters I don't even like.

I was actually quite excited for this book. I enjoyed the first one a little more than I thought I would, and the plot was actually starting to interest me. But this book pretty much took a sledgehammer to that. I'm going to break this down into sections, starting with:

HOLY F*CKING HELL, THE SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF NECESSARY IS OFF THE F*CKING SCALE.

If you asked me to rate this book, from 1 to 10, on how unrealistic it is, I would peg it at about 2000. Now, before you say 'but Namera, this is an RH book, where's the realism anyway?' I'm going to say that BECAUSE it's an RH book I think even more realism is needed, not less. Instead we have teenaged gangsters going around murdering and looting and digging graves and somehow having videos of paedophiles having sex. The police are apparently all deaf and blind, adults mostly don't exist unless they're the scum of the earth, and a minivan is the ride of choice for these 17-year-olds who are somehow tattooed head to foot. Where are the bloody consequences? This is (or at least, Stunich is supposed to try and convince us that it is) real life, where there is generally at least a token investigation when someone goes missing and turns up dead.

I've said this before, but Stunich is genuinely unbelievably crap with money.

This probably should be shelved under the bullet point above, but whatever. It deserves its own bullet point, it's so blatant. How the hell can Bernadette think to spend $20,0000 on a wedding when that's literally almost half the total amount of money they have in their entire savings? They have 50 grand total, and the genius Victor has given Bernie 20 of that for their teenaged wedding which she still isn't questioning as much a normal sane person would!

The purple prose is KILLING ME.

Everything, but everything, is over-described and overwritten to the points where the words themselves no longer have meaning in the context of the sentence. Here is one single example I've highlighted, but rest assured there were millions more:

Callum... [has] eyes the colour of melancholy.... they're not even blue, not really. Blue doesn't look like that, like a pool of a thousand years, like crushed dreams and fragmented realities.

Having to type out those phrases made me feel a bit ill. How can someone have eyes the COLOUR OF MELANCHOLY? Eyes that look like CRUSHED DREAMS? Good f*cking Lord.

Bernie is a hypocritical bitch.

There's a lot made in the book of her confidence over her 70s-style bush and comfort with periods. She projects an image of herself as the cool, relaxed, laid-back chick who's all about feminism and girl power. And then she says 'get the fuck out' to an innocent girl, the girl says 'excuse me?' like anybody would, and Bernie imagines 'tear[ing] her pale pink leotard from her anorexic body.'

Anorexia is a bloody disease, a disorder people suffer from. Not a tool for you to jeer at and body-shame a girl just because she does ballet dancing. In fact she probably does have a high chance of suffering from some type of eating disorder, judging from a ballet dancer I know. You can't call yourself a feminist and then shut down another girl by calling her 'anorexic' just for being skinny and in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Linked to the above: I'm getting really tired of Stunich using her books as mouthpieces for her political views.

I obviously accept, and in fact expect, that everyone has a political view and most people feel strongly about that view. I'm fine with small touches, like Addison Cain deftly saying in one book that 'the current US President is a dick.' But in this book the villains are literally named Kushner (aka Trump's son-in-law), Pence (as in Mike), Eric and Todd (I'm pretty sure those are Trump's sons' names) and of course... Donald. I wish I were joking. The thing is, I do dislike all of these people. I really do. I don't support them politically at all, I think Donald Trump is the worst example humanity has to offer. But to shoehorn them into a book like this feels cheap and jarring.

The repetition is real.

'Quip' is used 41 times in this book. Forty. One. This book is approximately 120,000 words long, which means 'quip' appears only every 3000 words! That's nothing, especially for a word as eye-catching and usually rare as that one. Even worse, Stunich is using it without knowing what it means. Quip isn't a synonym for said, it specifically means a witty comment, yet it was used in reference to comments that were most certainly not witty. Also everyone has 'inked fingers' - literally, fingers are never mentioned without their tattoo fetish being brought up - and it's constantly hammered into us that they're dark twisted people with dark twisted souls, etc etc. Ad bloody nauseam.

Doesn't she have an ARC team? Alpha readers, beta readers, editors, a PA, ANYTHING???

Plot and characters just don't work.

Shockingly yes, this is quite low down in the review, because I almost forgot that in addition to its many other sins, this book also has a plot which isn't great. I will never accept that Bernie falls in love with boys who locked her in a closet with nothing but a bucket for a week. Boys who bullied her literally just on the say-so of her classmate. I just won't. Many of their actions also don't stand up to logic, and I am getting super tired of just how horny Bernie's body is.

Overall

Okay, I have no idea how many people will read all the way to the bottom of this review, but if you're still here... Congrats on making it! I'm pulling the plug on this series now and I'm so thankful I have, now that it's even longer.

After reading: Welp, it was definitely worth the wait. I am crushing on Aaron and Callum so hard after this book. Still love Victor and Hael and Oscar is slowly growing on me (that scene with him was so freaking hot.) Can't wait to see how Caitlin ends this in Mayhem.

Before reading: Can't wait for more Havoc Boys. I hope this book focuses on Aaron as I'm dying to know more about their backstory and itching for them to get it on again. But I'm sold on all the guys, with the exception of Oscar who still needs to grow on me. Love Vic, Hael, and Callum too.

Um, is this thing on?
It’s March 1st.
Where is this sequel?!?!?!?!?
*screams*

Review:
Honestly, this was a long wait and while I’m totally okay with that, I’m still a little bit disappointed at the back and forth about release dates. Just don’t put a release date if you’re not ready and then no one cares when it’s late. I don’t mean any harm by that and I full support authors and understand missing deadlines, but I’m also super into time management and realistic expectations so I can’t help but feel like no release date is better than one that is far too early.

It was a decent sequel, but I am torn between wanting to grab popcorn while she works her way through the friend group screaming You Go Girl, you missed this one, you better find an opportunity!
and wanting to throw the book because if there is this much crime and underground sex trafficking happening to people all over her town and all this stuff involves so many people, she should be working with the group to actually stop it instead of just getting distracted every 5 seconds by dick.

I mean, I’m the wrong audience anyway. I don’t quite get the RH thing, even though I really enjoyed Havoc. I want her to get around to everyone for the sheer entertainment and shock factor, but I think overall it’s really not my jam.

Still, if you’re into this sort of RH Bully Romance, I do think this is one of the better series out there!

I just finished this second instalment in the HAVOC boys series! Once again I was sucked right into their gruesome and violent world. For some reason I become totally addicted to the chaos of their world. I was very happy that in this book we got more insight into each member of the HAVOC gang! Actually, there was a chapter dedicated to each guy and his POV that takes place in the past. I felt that was needed and I am glad the author delivered that!!!

My main dislike in this story was Bernadette.. considering the fact that this book is a reverse harem read; I feel like my complaint with her isn’t fair! I just hate how she can jump from each of the guy’s beds right away. I think it bothered me more this time around because she literally would have sex with one, and then in the same day move onto the next!! Seeing how I was warned about the reverse harem theme... I do try to overlook that as best as I can.

Bottom line with this series is: I am hooked!!! I am eager to continue, and super anxious to see what else is coming! One thing is for certain... there is never a dull moment!!!👿

“Treat me like the newest member of your little gang. Treat me like an initiate, but keep in mind that one day I'll be queen.”

Where do I even start with this one, I’m still at a loss considering I rated Havoc at 4 stars and yet this was such a disappointing mess of a follow up. I mean, how did this happen? Who are her betas & editors and how did they let her hit publish on this?
description
I’ve seen her other work (some of it) and this reminded me of another well-known author, not her.......I’m waiting on Ashton Kutcher to pop out anytime now.....
description

Book Facts:
Told in: Almost fully from heroine’s POV, with certain past time jumps from the POV of each male lead.
About: This is the second installment in a series of three interconnected reverse harem books that must be read in order. It continues the same high school gangster romance plot from Havoc and features one heroine with five different potential love interests, promising that by the conclusion she will end up with at least three.
Triggers: Graphic violence/murder, sexual abuse/molestation (past), suicide (past).
Ends in: I wouldn’t call it a cliffy BUT it’s incomplete with the conclusion coming in Mayhem at Prescott High.

The Main Players:
Bernadette (Bernie) Blackbird: ⭐️
Only female in Havoc, fiancée to Victor, ex of Aaron’s, and lover/friend of all 5 guys.
“Don't lecture me about my mistakes when you could raze an entire city with the heat of your own.”

Victor (Vic) Channing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Leader of Havoc.
“Better, maybe, but not like me. Nobody will love you the way I do, Bernadette Blackbird.”

Oscar Montauk: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tech Genius of Havoc & Vic’s second in command.
“It’s not as if I enjoy doing violent things. No, it’s that violent things are necessary. You can’t create order without a little chaos. You can’t stir Havoc without a little pain.”

Callum Park: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Muscle” of Havoc, trained dancer/dance instructor.
“You might not like the skeletons in our closet, but I sure do hope you stay,” he whispers, kissing me on the cheek.

Hael Harbin: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Other “Muscle” of Havoc, “grease monkey”/car fanatic.
“If you were anybody else, I’d break your hand for touching my baby. Not you though, Blackbird. Not you.”

Aaron Fadler: ⭐️⭐️
Most unlikely member of Havoc, Bernie’s ex.
“I’m not the good guy anymore, and I can never be that person again. So, maybe…” He leans down and licks a bit of chocolate from my lower lip. “I just take what I want, regardless of whether I deserve it or not?”

What Worked:
Everything Oscar: The unlikely “hero” of this book (interest wise) was Oscar for me. I’m sure some saw him as a jerk but I saw someone who was the most honest of them all.....
“Perhaps not,” Oscar purrs, leaning down to put his lips near my ear. “I think it's dick that motivates you.”
description
I loved how serious & no nonsensical he was, it was no surprise he was possibly the most calculated & murderous of them all. I appreciated that he was the one character who called Bernie out on her bull crap and what she was doing to the group....
“The only thing that bothers me is the way Vic lets you get away with every little bullshit thing you do,” he says, frowning at me. “You're a weak link in our chain. And despite what you feel about me, it's my job to keep Havoc running smoothly. I don't like speedbumps, Bernadette, and that's what you are. You slow the whole operation down.”
....but I especially LOVED that even when she got him to lose all that control....
“You wouldn’t want me to fuck you, Bernadette. I’m not sure I could behave myself.”
description
.....I wanted to do some dirty things to that hot nerd.....he ended up being the perfect mix of depravity and tenderness. He was the MVP for sure.

The Past from Guy’s POV: I’m not a Bernie fan, so getting the opportunity to not hear from her POV was a godsend. More than that, I liked having a small piece from each of the guys where I could understand them and their feelings about her more (even if it was from the past).

Few “Emotional” Moments: Most surprising was that in this mess I was able to find some really emotionally charged scenes to connect with. Bernie recounting finding her sister Penelope being the top one. It was emotional and it was written to feel like we were there with her. The other was Hael & his mom, I found it incredibly heartwarming the way he was with her and how protective he was. I wanted more of her.

What Didn’t:
SO MANY Contradictions: I won’t even attempt to list them all, but just know there are quite a few and I’m sure more I missed.
One scene they wake up at 5PM (they missed school, didn’t take girls to school, and were going to get stuff to make tacos for dinner) and suddenly it was morning.....another had Bernie shattering the mirror at the dance studio (even describing how the shards of glass rained down on the floor) but then in the same scene they are dancing barefoot and then Callum props her up on the mirror for a makeup session (where she slides down it to her feet).....another where she is wearing leather pants one moment and then refers to running her hand down her “jeans-clad” thigh the next....then we have her talking about how Oscar is staring at her pale thighs and the period blood running all down them but then he’s having to pull off the baggy basketball shorts of Aaron’s she’s wearing (so how did he see her pale bare thighs under those shorts?)....or the time she uncaps a tube of red lipstick only for it to turn into a pretty shade of pink she uses to mark off a name on her list....
.....there are more I’m sure, but you get it.

Purple Prose/Cliche Phrases: I had to actually look up just what purple prose was in my quest of finding the right way to describe the over-the-top way she described everything, attempting to make the most basic action or item or body part more poetic/deeper than it needed to be......if you cut out the excessive amount she does this, this book would be a great deal shorter. Some examples include:
⭐️ “The fire sweeps over it like a gluttonous demon, gobbling it up with orange tongues and oppressive heat.”
⭐️“He smells of danger and uncertainty, of wild, moonlit nights, and orgasms made of hot embers and poisonous kisses.”
⭐️“His mouth tastes like iniquitous love and romantic sin, all twisted into one dark, wicked tongue.”

description
Or even worse, the cheesy/cliche phrases that reminded me of the FB quotes people reshare to make sure you know exactly how they are feeling all the time.....
⭐️ “In this world of sinners and saints, there is only one authority.”
⭐️“And no, it's not just a setting on a dryer. It's a reality. Either you blend in, or you stick out. And we, we most certainly stick out, like broken graves in a green lawn.”
⭐️“As they say, every rose has its thorns. But I'll be damned if I let Kali Rose make me bleed.”

.....it was all too much in a book that was already too much.

Repetition: I couldn’t forget if I tried that Bernie is Havoc now, how dangerous/bad/gangster they were, everyone is terrified of them, how “dark” she and the guys are (used upwards of 160 times in similar ways in this book), or that Bernie has what could be considered the heaviest flow known to womankind (enough to possibly warrant a visit to the ER). It reminded me of someone who doesn’t even believe they are who they pretend to be yet think if they say it enough everyone (including themselves) will begin to.

Editing/Grammar Issues: This is self-explanatory BUT here are some examples:
⭐️Using the incorrect version of chère multiple times when referring to Bernie, instead using “cher” which only means the same thing if you are referencing a male, otherwise it’s meant to mean “expensive”.
⭐️“......safe space to retreat to MAKES the stress-filled nights at home much more bearable.”
⭐️“When he WALK back around the building and into the garage....”
⭐️“He turns eighteen just one day after me. how does that get you?”
⭐️“.....AS LONG AS LONG as Callum is Bernie’s maid of honor.”
⭐️“Looks like even Satan makes MISTAKE,”

description
.....that one is my fave, and there are others too. You get the point.

Ridiculously Unbelievable/Unrealistic: I know a certain amount of flexibility is needed in regards to realism in fictional books...but sometimes (like this one) it’s too far on the side of obnoxious I can’t enjoy it. This is again a place I won’t go into great detail BUT here are a few examples of what we are expected to believe:
description
⭐️High school gangsters riding in a minivan and carrying revolvers....bc that’s totally gangster.
⭐️The whole money/poverty thing. Budgeting $20k for a wedding when you only have $50k in your combined acct.....her complaining about her sister having old ratty shoes yet she has $2k buried in her backyard, $20k to spend on a wedding, $300 on weekly groceries (where is the EBT?), $500ish on a new iPad, or the $800+/ea Barker Blacks (made in England) incorrectly described loafers the guys wear for the wedding....money is something she doesn’t understand (I’ve heard).
⭐️She gets her knuckle tattoo and the wrap around it prevents all the blood from leaking out (I’ve never in my dozens of times being tattooed everywhere bled that much).
⭐️They are in a turf war yet Callum walks to the studio alone and none of them go anywhere really protected.
⭐️No matter how serious the situation, no one is ever in a hurry. Oh someone might die? Wait to take him to get worked on so I can take a shower beforehand.
⭐️And finally, how this group of HIGH SCHOOL boys (and one girl) are so dangerous and powerful (with only $50k in their combined acct) that they can go around killing anyone they want and do anything they want with no consequence.

Political/Personal Undertones: Bernie/Bern as the heroine. Villains (all some form of womanizer/pedo/rapist) with names Eric & Todd Kushner, Neil Pence, and Donald.....
description
.....I get it (and I’ve likely missed a few as well), I’m not a fan of the admin myself BUT it was a little overboard and ridiculous. The same can be said about the random rant about Round-Up weed killer (that happens at the most inappropriate and unrealistic moment), and her patting herself on the back for a certain clever quote from her recently released standalone....but what got me all rage-y more than anything was how she used Bern to push a little feminism/girl power yet then used that same heroine to tear down another female character. She has Bernie talking about menstrual bleeding all over herself more than once and not caring that it’s everywhere and having what is described as a bush down below “that hasn’t been seen since the 70s”, yet she turns around and dogs Kali’s boob shape/appearance/size due to her “one too many bulimic episodes”. It cancelled out anything she attempted when Bernie made fun of the results of Kali’s eating disorder.....
description
.....yet I’m supposed to be pumping my fist in the air in solidarity bc Bern might be the first heroine I’ve read about who doesn’t groom herself and likes to leave her period blood around like little bread crumbs? Nope, not happening.

This Kind of RH: RH isn’t my fave but I can read them and even enjoy them when it’s handled right. This one is not. They all have feelings for her but she doesn’t show them all the same love/affection/attention. She uses them against each other at times and Victor states multiple times how not okay he is with it. When it gets to the point where her fiancé doesn’t agree or like it, it felt more like cheating.....especially when she allows her feelings towards him (if she’s mad or upset) to dictate what she does at times.

Bernie’s Sex Drive: I’m not going in detail here, just know that her sex drive was a main character of its own. It made an appearance anytime one of the guys blinked it seemed like....
“Despite the shitty turn our Friday afternoon has taken, I won’t lie about my panties being soaked from the sight.”
description
......she is THE wettest heroine I’ve ever read about (she had to go through some panties for sure).

The Verdict:
description
Overall, this couldn’t have been more of a disappointment compared to how much I enjoyed Havoc.....maybe I had blinders on, maybe I’m just over the series due to her delaying without any updates/reasons, or maybe I expected a lot more from an author who is so experienced and normally talented....but there is no way I’m subjecting myself to another installment (which leads to the second RH series of hers I refused to finish).....maybe I should try my luck with her standalones?

I am so upset when authors give tentative release date or preorder dates and ghost their fans. We all realize stuff happens that may push back release dates but when a certain author does this constantly with no explanation, it’s a slap in the face to the fan base!! I really enjoyed books by this author, but she has just lost one fan that will not purchase anymore of her work!! Deuces!

Oh my goodness! Com-on-already!!! Over six months past publish date. This is beginning to rival gestation term. 🤰🏻Lets start pushing the little bundle of joy on into the world.🤣🤣🤣

May 16, 2020. WHERE IS THIS BOOK! IT HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND DELAYED. I can't find it on kindle, audible or other formats. I understand time frames aren't set in stone but I'm not understanding because I haven't seen an explanation. Does anyone know?

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! I am hoping to see her give more of a chance to Vic. I feel like Aaron is only acting like this because he's jealous. I feel like the chemistry Bernadette and Vic have is so real and they would be the best relationship.

so poorly written. only idiots would 5 star this. at one stage aaron’s hair is described as chestnut and on the next page it’s auburn. one page has callum wearing leggings at dance, the next paragraph he’s in sweats. this entire book was such melodramatic trash. ended up skimming through because the eye rolling was so intense. nobody acts the way these kids do, they’re 17/18 years old. makes you cringe at how try hard it all is. is it written by a 14 year old? because it’s like a comedy. i’m actually embarrassed for the author for willingly writing such nonsensical rubbish.

I had a hard time finishing this one. I did a lot of skimming.
Bernadette is a bit selfish. I love RH stories but I think this one is the first where I feel the heroine put it in the other guy’s face that she had sex with another guy.
I am not sure why the guys love her.
She does not make time for them or what they are going through.
She talks about how tough she is but it is all words.
I may just skip to the last book in the series to see how it all ends/wraps up. Maybe they will all just leave her!! Maybe I don’t care. Bernie was annoying and a hypocrite.

Too wordy.
$20,000 on a wedding when they only have $50,000 in their account for HAVOC stuff. Huh?!?!
I loved the poetry.
Book 1 was so good. Book 2 was a big disappointment.
My opinion. You may love it. Reading is subjective.

I have never read so much purple prose writing in a single novel in my life. Seriously, enough already! I had to start skimming just to get past all the dark, angsty internal thoughts of the main character. It was like reading the diary of an angry 12 year old girl if I’m being honest. While the first half of the novel really dragged, the second half was much better. The first book is still a lot better than this one though. Hopefully the final edition will wrap up all the minor plot threads that are still dangling.

“I’ve always known what I’ve wanted, and it wasn’t just the V in Havoc; it was every letter in their wicked, little alphabet.”

Técnicamente hablando, este libro es malísimo. La trama carece coherencia, la protagonista es infumable, y la historia es tan insensata y tan poco probable que de verdad suceda, que se vuelve ridícula. Pero, against all odds, me gustó. Me entretiene lo suficiente como para pasar por alto todos sus defectos, y querer seguir la lectura.

Como con la reseña de Havoc at Prescott High, voy a preceder diciendo todo lo que está mal con este libro. First and foremost: Victor fucking Channing. Infumable.

Literalmente le dice a Bernie “Victor doesn’t treat you well. None of them do. Why do you reward them with your affection? It disturbs me, Bernadette” y la verdad que same.

“I’ve just felt that flicker of emotion again, like a firefly trapped in my soul.
And, I’ve just figured out what it is: happiness.
Aaron makes me happy.
How weird is that?”

This is a really good book and a great story line. BUT during to the author's inability to write a sequel or update anyone of a proper time line makes this a one star review. Not only is this disappointing it's a pattern for most of her "series". Do not read this as you'll never know the true end.

I didn’t enjoy this second book nearly as much as the first one we seemed to be going round in circles especially in regard to Bernie and her feelings for the boys.
She blew hot and cold, constantly changing her mind about what she actually wanted and that irritated me slightly.

But this was action-packed throughout with plenty going on. Outside forces are infringing on Havoc and there having to do damage control.
Not only do they have Bernie's cop stepfather gunning for them The Charter crew and havoc are in the middle of a turf war.

This also upped the violence dramatically and you will need to suspend your disbelief slightly considering these are high school kids (seventeen).
What I did like here is we got snippets of the boys perspective’s it’s mostly told from Bernie’s POV but we do get a glimpse into the boys head as they each get a turn at the helm.

I mostly enjoyed this one it was easy to read I just felt at a bit of a standstill in regards to the story direction and I don’t think we’ve moved on that much plot-wise from the first book.
But this was gripping and brutal and I did like that about it. It’s just Bernie is starting to grate on me slightly which is problematic considering she’s the main narrator here.

Overall though this series is decent enough and if you like this type of genre it will probably be a hit.
On a side note, this is a reverse-harem but with some jealousy and possessiveness as well.
These boys don’t like to shares their toys especially Victor we’ll see how that one goes as he’s going to have to learn to play nice as obviously, Bernie disagrees she’s a havoc girl through and through, blood in, blood out.

I need a break from this series. I don’t think i can handle following through with 3 more books right now. I started the series in the mood to read this trope but I’m no longer in it. Someday in the future, I’ll revisit the Havoc boys.

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
The Havoc Boys shouldn’t be messed with. They have a sweet tooth for revenge and if you become their target… Better start counting down your days. Bernie used to be their target. Now, she’s their Havoc girl and she won’t let anyone get in her way on her path to bloody revenge. Even if it means risking her family’s livelihood. Read the warning before book begins. Stunich explains the triggers/tropes brilliantly.

I’ve been waiting for this book for so long and now that I’ve read it, I’m incredibly happy. It was everything I needed from the sequel to Havoc At Prescott High. Bernie for president. All the boys were a hundred percent LIT. Period talk on fleek. Polyamory is the proud winner of this book. Revenge has never tasted so good as it does in this series. C. M. Stunich has created a raw and dirty world that draws you in. I’ve been hooked by Bernie since page one of book one and the sequel only made me love her more. She’s so fierce. Loyal. Badass. She’s an icon. She’s easy to empathize with. She’s a pretty girl, but she’s so much more. I love how she always stands her ground.
The steam in this novel was impeccable, but I haven’t met a Stunich book that hasn’t had FUEGO, so what’s new!?!!??!?! Be ready for some very explicit situations that might test your limits. I wasn’t affected at all by these situations because I can stomach it very well and I’m actually PRO openly discussing periods. BUT I have also never (rarely!?) read a book that openly discusses periods and the bloodiness of them like this book did. KUDOS!!!!!!!! I ship it.
I recommend this to reverse harem STANS, badass heroine lovers and bad boys with redeemable qualities admirers.

The HAVOC BOYS:
Hael
Aaron
Victor
Oscar
Callum
&
Bernadette Blackbird

This one is a little better than the first book because we finally get a little more RH feeling but still not enough in my opinion. At this point in the series, I am already tired and bored and not sure if I want to continue, which is a shame because I really like the idea of the HAVOC group and the revenge.

I really think I love the antiheroes killing for revenge a little too much at this point but I am not going to question my liking anymore.

Anyways, so this book was supposed to focus on Aaron but didn't really feel like that. I mean yeah, she had sex with him, talked about their problems and everything is ok now, said they love each other.

The sex scene with Oscar was intense, and then he ruined it by freaking out, what was that about? Because we don't get a reason. THAT'S THE PROBLEM FOR ME WITH THIS SERIES!!! They do or say shit and it is half-ass explained. It is not the writing style problem, is the fact that the author doesn't give us everything and keeps it going, and MAYBE we will find this little thing about Oscar IN BOOK FOUR OR FIVE WHICH IS HIS BOOK. But I will just get over it and fking forget by then and I won't understand anything then. This is only one example of all the things going on that at this point I don't remember to mention. We get only a half of the story for some things and it pisses me off big time.

At this point, I don't even know if I want to continue the story. I mean it is amazing, I want to read about Bernie getting her revenge and making her RH but really some things piss me off big time.

3.25 stars

The writing is easy to read, is descriptive and flows well. The author has a talent with her writing.

I am not convinced of the reasoning behind how HAVOC treated Bernie in Sophomore year. The scene where everything of hers was burned springs to mind as being especially cruel. HAVOC seriously expected her to stay innocent, move on and live a normal life after locking her in a cupboard for two days, stripping her of her clothes and making her walk home in her underwear, making her run laps of the school oval until she passes out, plus all of the other stuff they did?

A flash back even had the guys acknowledging that they were strengthening themselves to be a weapon for Bernie to avenge those who wronged her. They knew she would come to them at some point in the future to ask for them to avenge her. I don’t know when she actually had a chance to move on in their reasoning if they also knew she would seek revenge. I felt their reasoning was a little contradictory. They are teenagers after all so I guess it can be excused as being short sighted.

The author did address the contradiction, to a point, by having 4/5 of the members of HAVOC want to avenge Bernie for free as redemption for how they treated her. The last member pointed out that she was no longer the innocent that they harassed in Sophomore year and so now could become a member of HAVOC as her price. I just wanted to shout-duh, of course she’s no longer innocent. You knew what obstacles she has in her life and you added to that. They’re lucky she cared so much for her sister as they could have pushed her over their edge with their harassment.

I’m with Oscar that redemption has been reached too easily.

I did not think this book was as strong as the first book and did not enjoy it as much.

This author is becoming a real life bully

Let me start by saying I really enjoyed Havoc, but this book, Chaos, really fell flat. Definitely wasn't as great as I thought it'd be. If I'm being honest though, I still would have read Mayhem once it came out to have the conclusion to the story. But then BAM, days before it was to be released I get a notification saying that the final book (Mayhem) will be split into 3 separate books because it was just magically too long. No. Just, no. If you take out the hundreds of repetitive comments and internal dialogue, while also cutting out all the times you are reminded that heroine has pink tipped hair or how dark Vic's eyes are. Dude, you just laid this out for me 10 pages ago, I don't need you to do it again now or in another 20 pages for that matter. I'm not stupid.

On another note, the repeated not-so-subtle digs at another author is ridiculous and disappointing. I do not support "mean girl" behavior. Grow up. And because of this, and the fact that this author seems to have trouble sticking to her word, I am no longer a reader of hers. I have also removed myself from her facebook group. Everything I have mentioned in this review put together has left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially the bullying. I'm done.

2nd Reread (1/1/23):
4.5 Stars
First read for 2023 complete yay! Just in time to head back to work tomorrow boo. So, on my first read I gave this 4 stars because I remember being busy and not that interested and things didn't make as much sense as the first book. For this 2nd reread I'm listening to the audiobooks (and yes they are amazing), and I've paid much more attention and it all makes sense. And it's all really good. This is one of those series that is really dark and has aspects of it that I loathe in other books, but it just plain works for me in this one. I love the FMC Bernie a lot more (probably because of the narrator Brooke Daniels) and all the boys are amazing in this reverse harem. They also have distinct looks and personalities and I LOVE it when an author does that right. I'm probably just going to dive straight into book 3 and hopefully finish a series for once ... maybe achieve that new years resolution I have every year!

It was just ok. Very peeved over this authors continued delay of release dates and lack of communication with her readers (no one should need to join a private FB group for updates). She always seems to have some weird excuse for it that really doesn’t make sense.
As for the book, of course I had pretty high expectations because the first book was good but this one dragged a bit. I still don’t really understand why Vic is the one that “gets” Bernie, especially when Aaron really was the first one to love her and be loved back by her.
Also, way too much time was dedicated to talking about Bernie being on period. That could have been cut down to like 2 paragraphs, not an entire chapter.
I’ll read the third book (hopefully at the end of this month when she *says* it’s going to be released) but I could honestly have lived with this being the last book in the series.

This second installment of the Havoc Boys is AMAZING! It had all the in-depth backstory I was craving. The chemistry was even more explosive. If you thought the story couldn't get darker, you were wrong. So good, I'm ready for the next book.

OMG did you know her hair was pink tipped?
Did you know they had tattoos?
Did you know their gang name was HAVOC?
Did you know she was going to be the MF’ing queen?
Did you know the guys hair colors and styles?

This series is very repetitive. I thought it was a finished trilogy but it’s actually five books that could have been done in two or three. If you take out all the repetitiveness, the dumb dialogue that’s not needed and a ton of the sex thought, talk and scenes it would flow so much better.

We have reached new heights of "WTH I'm reading!!". Over the top for sure! and I'm going to read the next one in the series...because... curiosity... luckily I'm not a cat or else I would have been dead. H.A.V.O.C. is a new level of school gang for sure! I really don't know what else can happen in the series... I mean, nothing is missing... every tragic event that could have occurred is included. Maybe a plane crash? Maybe having $€× while wearing a menstrual cup? (Not sure how it could work but according to the author it's a possibility)
