A second chance, age gap winter romance that will have you cheering them on, crying for them...while a whole lot of love settles in your heart.
Paisley Healy was never supposed to fall in love with her boss. Her superior. The woman she looked up to. Working at the best law firm in the city was supposed to be cut and dry. The night she confessed her love to the woman she was falling for should have been magical, so why was she alone three years on, unanswered questions continuously plaguing her mind?
Georgina Weaver’s dream had always centred around her business. Love wasn’t everything to her—she wasn’t sure it could compete with the demands of her job—but her assistant had quickly blown that out of the water. With the words ‘I love you’ spoken with such beauty and honesty, Georgina was prepared to give her entire universe to Paisley.
One night would change everything. One moment would crush their dream.
When Georgina walks back through the doors of Weaver & Associates—interrupting the annual Christmas party and Paisley’s life—both of them must make choices. While Georgina learns of some powerful news, Paisley believes their past is better left buried.

Is it possible to find each other again and have a second chance with your true love? Impossible! No, but trust issues and secrets keep them separate. Getting their HEA is definitely not going to be easy. I'm a romantic at heart, so I love reading stories like this. It has drama, heartbreak, devotion, sacrifice, love and characters who show their vulnerability. The story flows easily and it let you connect with the main characters. Loved it!
I nearly didn’t finish this book. Though the writing was not bad and the characters were okay I found the story too cliche and predictable and also too unrealistic. As other readers seem to have enjoyed this book a lot, I don’t want to give any spoilers so I won’t go into details about what bothered me about this romantic story. I also think it would have been better if it had been a lot shorter. Now it sometimes felt too repetitious because both mains, but especially Paisley kept reminiscing about her feelings in the past and present. So my rating is 2.4 stars. Please read the other reviews for a completely different view of this book.
Paisley and Georgina are the ideal couple for their age difference. Each of them offers to the relationship exactly what the other requires: safety, excitement, and new perspectives. The story depicts their new beginning after a three-year break as well as the senior one's inexplicable absence. The intrigue behind this is simple and I’m glad about it. As a whole, it is a romance not a crime story.
I chose this reading due to Tereze’s writing qualities. Nobody does it better when it comes to describing the drama and tension between two ladies. If you long for prolonged debates about emotional states this is going to be a real fete. Besides, to make it more intense, the plot takes place just before Christmas in a latitude where snow is a rarity.
Love is Their Boss Paisley fell in love with her boss Georgina and the feeling was mutual. The day after they say those important words, Georgina leaves town without a backwards glance. Shattered, Paisley does what she has to in order to survive, never fully living. Three years later Georgina is back….
Heavy, happy sighs… This is one of those books that grabs you and sucks you in. It’s so lovely, mushy and sentimental, It has such sorrow and pain but Georgina had a super good reason to leave, and when she finds out things have changed she does so much to make it up to her one and only love. I had so many happy tears running down my face and really big grins. This really is such a sweet romance, a TOTALLY perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon. WELL DONE Ms Tereze!
I was looking forward to this and the start held great promise, the characters have good chemistry and I was really enjoying it. Sadly everything dipped halfway it all became so repetitive including their thoughts, feelings, the situation and the sadness :( it was just too much. I was rooting for them both but ended up thinking "just get on with it fgs"
There is something about stories with happy ending. Even though they went trough so much, the final of the story made me happy. Best part of course is the end, but how it got there...it's beautiful journey.
I'm a huge Melissa Tereza fan. Huge. But this book hasn't been my favorite. This has two of my favorite elements, as usual, age-gap and a powerful woman. I think that the storyline was on the fiction side in my books, I mean, I know it could be real but.. nop.
Based on the reviews, I'm not sure i was reading the same book. I ended up with a headache with all the eye-rolling. The story was full of cliches, was unrealistic, repetitive and went on far too long. It would have been more effective as a short story. I gave myself the two star as i persevered to the end. Otherwise, no.
Okay, so there are some things really hard to digest in this one, in particular, the complete normalization of boss-subordinate sexual relations in a workplace.
Paisley has a job she loves, but the woman she loves ran out on her 3 years ago. Georgina loves Paisley, but had to leave to protect her. When after 3 years, she comes home. The mystery is why did Georgina have to leave, and is it safe for her to come back? Also, does Paisley still love her? I found this book enthralling and give it 5 stars. I love Melissa's stories!
It’s short, but it has just the right amount of angst, hurt and love to make me like it! Feels like the main story takes places over a few days/weeks, but since they have history it doesn’t feel rushed. I loved that the main focus was on the MCs and minimal focus on the side characters.
I had trouble finishing this book. The dialogue and the characters' actions came across as unrealistic to me, and we spent too much time in the characters' heads with nothing happening. There was a bit too much telling and too little showing. That said, the story was sweet.
Paisley has spent 3 years with a broken heart but when the woman who broke it, Georgina returns at Christmas, Paisley is faced with an awful dilemma. Should she give Georgina a chance to explain why she left so suddenly, or should she carry on with her life and broken heart, as she has been ever since the day Georgina left. Paisley takes a chance, rather because you can’t avoid the boss, really, can you? But the past isn’t all that Paisley thought it was, and as the truth surfaces and threatens to complete ruin any chance of happiness, will Paisley listen and accept it, and will Georgina be brave enough to actually tell her the truth.
Although this story was what some would call clichéd and over the top, I loved it! Completely and utterly found it to be romantic and ever so invigorating. I love a story I can get invested in with the characters and the plot, and feel that it is a little more than just what would be ordinary. Those thrown in Hollywood clichés work wonders for me and my imagination. It was just a simple novella for Christmas! A bit of an escape, a lot of drama and angst, and some super cute, fuzzy, warm romantic moments, with a nice dollop of festive warmth too. I just loved it. The whole plot kept the suspense but balanced perfectly with light-hearted moments to evoke emotions in the reader from happy to empathetic.
I wish there was more! What can I say, Georgina and Paisley are great and I would have loved to have actually seen the before Georgina left, but there is hope that can be a story for another time, right?
I loved the angst between Georgina and Paisley, it was on so many levels! There was hurt, deceit, misunderstandings, and then there was love although restrained because of the negativity surrounding Georgina’s return and the past feelings experienced by Paisley. It was all that which made their dynamic so intoxicating. It was a bad situation, it was a lot to take in and understand, and I think both characters dealt with the situations and circumstances quite realistically in a Hollywood romance kind of way. I adored them both, together, and as individuals. They were so sweet and it was so obvious that they were perfectly suited and just made for one another.
A great festive read for a bit of romance, angst and drama over Christmas.
Wow tears!!! I couldn't stop bawling my eyes out at the end. I loved this book! It's a quick weekend holiday Lesfic romance - perfect to put you in the mood for the holidays.
I loved Paisley and Gee. Tereze again brings in the older mature/ younger woman dynamic and pulls off a beautiful story. The characters are dynamic and strong women. They each have their flaws and problems, which she wraps into the plot nicely, and gives us the ending we are rooting for, and then some!
Read this book before Christmas! You won't be disappointed!
Oh my god. Run to read this, stat. The yearning? The longing? The flashbacks? The angst? I cannot chef-hand-kiss this book enough. Even if May/December romances aren’t your thing (and this one is Only Just one, barely) I highly encourage you to pick this up.
This was such a beautiful story that I wish would continue on. I love a good age gap but this one doesn't involve the melting of an ice queen. This story was simply beautiful through and through. It proved that true love will endure even in the worst circumstances. This is definitely a must-read and I'm kicking myself for not having read this sooner. Don't make the same mistake I did. Grab your copy, a box of tissues and enjoy.
Great story, romantic, and spicy. Is well written and I enjoyed it a lot. The characters are lovely and there's a secret hidden beyond the reason Georgina left, Paisley is so cool and gentle, you have to love them.
I'm utterly heartbroken because I got my expectations too high when Georgiana said she was gonna fight for Paisley, because in really she didn't do shit.
It feels like so much is happening but also nothing really happened
This is a solid story but ultimately left me wanting more. It started off super strong but fell flat for me during the second half. The writing became a little repetitive and it was hard for me to truly feel the passion between the 2 MC's. I did enjoy the story and I am excited to read more from this author.
This was a great read and finished it in one sitting. When you find a book where you fall in love with the love both characters have for one another, well its a keeper and will for sure re-read again.
This was a difficult book for me to get through the first half of. Once I did, the second half was wonderful. And the difficulty comes down to one single issue, I think.
Trying to avoid anything too spoilery, this is the story of a couple who became unexpectedly separated just when they felt closest. After a few years, they are back in the same place. One of the two understands why the separation happened and the other was blindsided by it. And… I felt I (as a reader) went too long not understanding the reason for that separation. It colored my perception of one of the characters when there seemed no reasonable explanation for her behavior.
Eventually, the author reveals the secret (to us and to the woman who had been blindsided), and it did change my perception. But I spent several chapters of the book angry at this character for being unreasonable, when it turned out that . (I tried to be vague, but I prefer to err on the side of caution with hiding things others might possibly see as spoilers!)
The ending was wonderful, but the start of the book dug it a deep hole to climb out of. I am glad, though, that I didn't make the mistake (that I almost did) of giving up on the book just before the reveal that made it make sense to me!
Second chance love by Melissa Tereze has my heart filled with joy. I enjoyed this second chance romance with the Christmas spirit thrown in. The chemistry is strong. I love the writing style of the author on how she can take a difficult situation and bring beauty of love forward. I look forward to more books by Melissa Tereze.
I made it to the end. But skipped several and do mean several pages and I don’t feel I’ve missed a single unique string of sentences. Good concept but execution needs a little TLC
the plot was blindingly obvious. flashbacks feel like way to fill in voids left by straightforward story. reminds me of road to madison (not something i like), but less.
