Another BRILLIANT laugh-out-loud Daisy adventure, from the bestselling author of the Oi Frog series, Kes Gray. Here comes trouble! Daisy is going on a school trip to Bobbington Hall! But the trouble with school trips is that teachers will be there too. So Daisy can’t go exploring! There will Suits of armour Olden toilets Secret passages The trouble is, they’re proving really hard to find! But what will happen when Daisy does find the secrets of Bobbington Hall?
Kes Gray is a bestselling, multi award-winning author of more than 70 books for children. He eats Ideaflakes for breakfast, spreads silliness on his toast and lives in a place called Different. Kes was the second bestselling picture book author in 2018.
Daisy and all her classmates were so excited when their teacher Mrs Peters announced a field trip to Bobbington Hall. Jack convinces the class that there are bound to be secret passages, with secret treasure hidden in such an olden-day stately home. All the class agrees, on a secret pact, to search for secret passages and treasure despite being given a workbook to complete and the responsibilities of being school ambassadors. Ambassadors are always on their best behaviour. Sneaking off looking for secret treasure in secret passageways is not the best behaviour. How does the field trip work out? Do Daisy and her friends find hidden treasure? I enjoyed the mischief and conflicting priorities the students had to resolve. Recommended for readers aged eight to ten years.
As an adult, I really enjoy the Daisy and The Trouble with series. However, this was too childish for me. The humour was very childish and suited for a very young audience. Unlike the London one it isn't funny and relatable for all ages. It is a fun book notherless for children. This book contains a lot of dialogue, which I haven't seen much in Daisy books. As for the story, the story is Daisy, and her classmates are going on a trip to Bobbington Hall. Her classmate Jack tells them that there may be secret passages, and the entire book is about Daisy and her class mates looking for these secret passages. The mischief they get up to is very much like every book or kids show about show trips to museums.
As a former teacher, I can tell you this was quite tame for a school trip! I do feel for the poor teacher, though. And none of it was Daisy's fault either.
Yet another excellent Daisy book. They are funny for kids but equally funny for adults reading them with kids.....and for adults just reading them for the fun of it. Best kids' books going!
A really fun read. Daisy and her classmates go on a school trip to Bobbington Hall. With secret passages, mazes and a rather large fountain what could possibly go wrong......?
Grandchild and I had great fun reading this book together with a lot of laughs.
The trouble with reading a Kes Gray book, is that your grandchildren want to read another and another and another.......
I enjoyed reading this as a bedtime story, and my 6YO really enjoyed the story, though some of the humour went over his head. Daisy and the Trouble with Life is, I would say, better, but feel this did work as a stand-alone and didn’t feel it was struggling to rehash the former. We’ll probably read some more, though I think the formula will grow tired for me at least. Still warmly recommended in general and for those who were left wanting more after the trouble with life.
