Thorough and comprehensive. I've done around 400 questions from practice exams and there's not a single one that wasn't covered somewhere in this book. The hardest part to get through was as always the specific Cisco products and services (boring, I am not trying to be a salesman). Thankfully it covers more than just Cisco APIs, with things like SOAP, REST, YANG, Ansible, Docker, etc.

It's hard to recommend starting Devnet without first knowing Python. The first few chapters do cover it, but every chapter afterwards DEPENDS on you knowing it. I imagine anyone upset with the broad nature of this book didn't take the time to practice the (many) free labs the book points you in the direction of.

This book is definitely not enough to pass the exam or grasp fundamental knowledge of DevNet. Most of topics are too generic. However, it’s understandable due to the fact that it’s relatively new field in networking.

This book gives a good introduction to automation methods and functionality in a networking environment. It helped build the foundation for utilizing scripting and introduced me to specific tools to get tasks done in an efficient and automated manner.
