The more marine biologist Corrie Duval learns about the mysteries of the open ocean and the illusive creatures that inhabit it, the more questions she has. Where are these creatures coming from, how are they related, and just what is Zeballos Artino hiding?

Zeb wishes he could answer Corrie’s questions, but there is so much he can’t say, and even more that he doesn’t know himself. The shadowy figure of the woman in the water plagues him with riddles he can’t decipher, and his late father’s notebook provides only frustrating clues.

But when Zeb discovers someone else is attracting these mysterious creatures with the same sonar device installed on his own boat, he and Corrie must race to uncover the truth before this secret world is exposed and exploited.

Emma Shelford feels that life is only complete with healthy doses of magic, history, and science. Since these aren't often found in the same place, she created her own worlds where they happily coexist. If you catch her in person, she will eagerly discuss Lord of the Rings ad nauseam, why the ancient Sumerians are so cool, and the important role of phytoplankton in the ocean.

Emma is the author of the Nautilus Legends (a marine biologist discovers that mythical sea creatures are real), the Musings of Merlin Series (Merlin is immortal, forever young, and living in the modern day), and the Breenan Series (a young woman follows a mysterious stranger into an enchanting Otherworld).

I tried to read this book slowly and savor and contemplate every couple chapters. I’m so connected with the Characters- Corrie, Zeb, Jules and Trip. After I got half way through , I couldn’t stop reading it. This series has gotten under my skin. I dream about the characters and other things. No spoilers here. This is now my favorite series. I’ve read a lot of series. Including the Hobbit. So this is a great series , and I can’t wait for the next book!

I am viscerally so sad that this amazing trilogy is over. But I actually have a tiny bit of hope we could maybe see our gang of misfits again. This last installment was so amazing I read it in one day, and not just any day but a full blown work day. We are taken to the edge with this finale but all of the answers are given at the end. We are introduced to even more dynamic ocean creatures, the level of imagination in this final book is truly extraordinary. I also really want to visit British Colombia after finishing this series. Reading about the scenery and ecology really piqued and sparked my interest to explore that area. A true urban supernatural suspense thriller. Somehow these books turn mystical into scientific wonder and I really couldn’t get enough. I can’t speak highly enough of this amazing trilogy. If you are an ocean lover, book lover, and someone who doesn’t limit their imagination this is the perfect story for you.

Absolutely Brilliant!

Loved this story, totally Movie Worthy! The writing keeps you wrapped up in the excitement and suspense of the mysterious sea creatures, sea people, and the criminal thugs trying to capitalize on scientific discoveries.

The author gives you a story and leaves you with wanting to know more with an open ending regarding Zeb and Corrie. Will Zeb find out more about his mother’s people and what kind of creature he is? Will Corrie find her scientific answers? Most importantly will Zeb and Corrie finally realize there is something real between them - will true love find its way into their path?

Excellent Read!
