Entangled Fates #2

Quantum Proliferation

Rate this book
Getting his revenge felt great. Right up until the bills came due.

Alex and his quantum-powered AI companion might have broken free from Apollo’s threat to shut him down, but he is still on the hook for millions he doesn’t have, and the mega-corp isn’t going to forgive and forget. Desperate to keep his freedom and his company afloat as their illegal funds dry up, Alex tags along with the Black Flags on a mercenary contract on the other side of the globe.

Physically recovered but still coming to grips with the synthetic part of himself, Alex struggles to adapt to what his life and body have become. Stuck in a losing battle with his inner demons, he and Sophie gather resources and allies as they prepare to wage war against the rogue artificial intelligence that threatens the world.

His actions do not go unnoticed, however, and he soon finds him caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse. Firmly in the crosshairs again, can Alex survive the new threats against him without losing himself in the process?

This series features an anti-hero protagonist, does not shy away from complicated relationships, and is not fade to black. 18+

Joe travels the world each week as a tech mercenary defending the mega-corporations of tomorrow from hackers. He's got over 20 years in the IT field, much of it centered around security and cutting edge technology. In his spare time he plays video games and reads far too many pulpy books that either involve the world going to heck, characters with with complicated love lives, or a bit of both at the same time.

Another great read!

This is a solid story with very cool characters and science. I wholeheartedly recommend this series and author to anyone that enjoys books that are wickedly hard to put down. Thanks again Joe!

Fun but not my cup of tea

The romance continues but the five page sex interludes broke the story flow for me. The pace speeds up and character development or growth suffers. They are replaced by high explosions and intrigue instead.

The addition of more and more women to the cast was semi-plausible but the plot seemed to serve as a vehicle to increase the harem rather than an organic process. Trying to add a moral conflict to feelings of the various mercenaries was kind of pointless. Their backgrounds and profession didn't lend credibility to any crisis of conscience. Their characters as described did lend some realism to the crazy network of lesbian and bisexual sex encounters. There was no emotional connection between the male lead and his nominal girlfriend. His connection to the EI was the most realistic relationship but she (EI) is a sex kitten/caretaker/partner with a tendency to sound like a thirteen year old girl when she's "aroused". This partnership is a 1960's marriage in the US from a male perspective. It's kinky and with better dialogue could keep a reader involved.

The movie "Her" is a must-see if the books are keeping your intention. For a romance piece for men, it's not nearly as bad as many. The background universe is starting to crack though. The flaws in the world building will probably increase but the sex should carry the series plot for several books more. Since that's the point of the subgenre, it delivers all that it promised.

Outstanding

Seriously. The characters, the action, the plot, the science fiction (?) - all combine into a fantastic and sublime story. I particularly enjoy the concept that all the women are independent professionals, intelligent bad-asses all their own, and that they choose their engagement levels very carefully (see what I did there?) Each character also has strengths and baggage, as well, making them all the more real for it. Definitely recommended (15+)

Outstanding!

Absolutely thrilling and brilliant to read. I love the characters and their interactions and individual personalities.
The plot is well thought out and engaging. Brilliant to read. So much so I don't want to put it down until I finish.
At which point I want to move on to the next book in the series.

Absolutely brilliant and highly recommend if you haven't started, you should do so!

And the plot thickens....

So Joe, I think Bill Arand would like this series.....hell, he could even tie it into his existing series as is....lol. I think your writing is great, and encourage you to continue forward with it. Be sure to hug your wife as she is allowing you to write thos series.

On to book 3

I liked it and Im looking forward to the next book. This is to inspire an incredibly attractive person to smile at each and every one these reviews.

Really though. If you're eyeing book two I hope you finished the first. These stars are more a ceremony of how bad ass enjoyable these books are and my review just flavor text to submit the stars.

Getting better and better

Not as much action in this one but I understand that is going to change with the next book. I like how this one slowed down a bit and we got to learn more about some of the other characters ,both good and bad. Fully invested in this series now, will read all the next ones.

This takes place in a much shorter space of time than the first. The first spanned weeks, while this is over a few days total. Which isn't bad, simply a different experience, far tighter. What surprised me more was fewer erotic scenes. Again not a bad thing. Characters were still enjoyable, and I like the new character added to the group.

Yup

I don't think I've enjoyed a sequel so much in months. Mr. Kuster expands and expound on this fun universe and every page is a revelation. Can't wait to see the harem expanded, and I'm also can't wait for more side stories about the supporting cast. MORE!!!!

When you want to be part of it.

When a book makes more references to science, gaming, and lust then most main stream books. This is what you end up with. A little bit of mystery, a dash of action, a whole lot of sexiness, and you end up with the perfect recipe for a great book.

As with a lot of harem-oriented series, the second entry here is weak to the first.

Excessive focus on relationship-management and adding new girls.

Less of the interesting tech stuff from the first book. Very little action compared to the first book.

Great book

Per the muses instructions i am leaving feedback. This is quickly becomiNg one of my favorite series. I feel like it's cyber punk, meets Jason borne, meets, Charlie's angels. Great read and never boring. Highly recommended.

Just as good as the first

This is quite a ride, it would make an incredible movie, again it’s the characters that steal the show, the story is great but the banter and situations bring in some genuine laughs. On to the next one

Fun continuation

Enjoyed the second episode. Characters continue to grow on me. Harem elements are still fun without overshadowing story and characters.

A strong sequel, this continues the story and ratchets up the stakes really quickly. Excellent writing and pacing, and I am waiting for the next one. Highly recommended, as is the first book.

Rather interesting take on AI

It actually manages to discuss AI without it being either a benevolent God or skynet. Also just a good story.

Great cyberpunk sci-fi

Love where the book went and honestly didn't occur to me to ask where it was going while reading. I was too engrossed in it.

Okay

Not as good as the first book, but still a decent continuation. Some elements target narrower audiences. If it were food, it’d be chain restaurant level.

A narrower story in this one but tighter. The MC goes on an away mission and the world expands. Still enjoying it and the characters seem to be getting deeper. Now on to the next.
