Courtney Baker is ready to put small town life—and the man she can’t have—behind her. Years of secretly crushing on her best friend’s older brother have led nowhere and she’s finally ready to move on. It would have been a great plan had she not drunkenly blurted out all her feelings and kissed him. At least she’ll be able to forget all about it when she leaves town in less than 48 hours.
It takes a lot to surprise Dean Jones, but a kiss from the girl he’s been secretly attracted to for years does just that. All it takes it one kiss for him to realize he doesn’t want to let her go. But she’s his sister’s best friend and that’s a line he knows he should never cross. Never mind that she seems determined to leave their small town—and him—behind.
When a storm and a broken car stop Courtney from leaving town, Dean sees perfect opportunity to get her out of his system. But can one night ever be enough?
Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance that’s hotter than sweet, sweeter than hot. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than seventy titles under her belt – including THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE which was a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2017! She’s a Disney enthusiast who still happily listens to 80’s rock. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 30 years and their two sons in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
I do adore small town romance. Its one of my favorite theme on romance. I was expecting something sassy, rom com on And Then One Day. The story is promising such swoon worthy childhood crush turns lover. Especially with a touch of forbidden romance.
Well the sassy part I got it. The rest if it is... off. The characters are immature. Even for NA audience, I need something with more depth. And the job issue is really stupid. I mean, not be able to get a job is just ridiculous. And just because of the job sake, Courtney has to move to other town. What is more stupid is Dane chasing her in a blaze of fire. Without thinking.
The chemistry is flat. Really flat. I almost can not believe when they got together. I think I fall asleep on the middle of this book.
Magnolia Sound has to be my all-time favorite series by Samantha Chase. There is something about this town that draws me in every time. The best word I can come up with is easy to describe the series and its stories. They are fantastic lazy afternoon reads, not too dramatic or emotional but yet very heartfelt and captivating.
Courtney and Dean were sweet and sometimes passionate ;) with lots of laughs and just plain magic! There’s nothing like a friend to lover story for me. And this one was sprinkled with the sibling’s best friend trope as well and of course secret crushes! It was wonderful to get lost in Magnolia Sound once again!
5 COURTNEY AND DEAN STARS!! I love these two so much!! I could not put this book down....what a great addition to the Magnolia Sound series. This story will touch all your emotion, which is what we grow to expect from Samantha Chase. You definitely need to read this book and series.

REVIEW: AND THEN ONE DAY is the fourth instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MAGNOLIA SOUND romance series. This is auto mechanic Dean Jones, and dental hygienist Courtney Baker’s story line. AND THEN ONE DAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Courtney and Dean) AND THEN ONE DAY follows the best friend’s brother relationship between auto mechanic Dean Jones, and dental hygienist Courtney Baker. Courtney Baker has been in love with her best friend’s older brother since she was a teen but Dean Jones is six years older, and Courtney believes Dean considers her nothing more than an annoying little sister. The loss of her job, and her parent’s decision to turn the family home into an Airbnb, finds our heroine looking to make a move, away from the people she knows and loves but when her car breaks down on the way out of town, Courtney will find herself moving in with the Dean Jones, the man she has always loved. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dean and Courtney, and the potential fall-out as Dean’s sister Scarlett conspires to keep Courtney in Magnolia Sound, a conspiracy that threatens Courtney’s love for Dean Jones.
The relationship between Dean and Courtney is one of best friend’s older brother, secret crush. Dean had no idea that Courtney saw him as anything other than Scarlett’s brother, and Courtney has pined for Dean from afar, always on the side lines looking in. Dean struggles with their six year age difference, and Courtney battles between head and heart knowing a relationship with Dean could threaten her friendship with Scarlett Jones. The romance is passionate; the $ex scenes fade to black and are all implied.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Dean’s siblings: Scarlett and her husband Mason (In Case You Didn’t Know 3); brothers Kyle and Hunter, their father Dominic Jones, and grandfather Tommy Flynn. Scarlett is desperate to keep her best friend in Magnolia Sound but her plan backfires as it threatens their friendship on so many levels.
AND THEN ONE DAY is a story of family, friendships, unrequited love, secrets and lies. The small-town romance premise is engaging; the romance is sweet and fun; the characters are energetic.
When lies tear you apart. I think that would be the theme I would use for this one in the Magnolia Sound series. At the root of the major conflict is the lies or lies by omission. For me there is no difference. Even if you lie for a good reason which in this story is the case, it's still lying and that creates a breach of trust. It takes time and love to overcome that obstacle. Thank goodness this couple and their family have that in spades.
What would it be like if your prince charming decided to finally look at you one day and be so interested, he falls in love with you? Samantha gives us that fantasy story. She smoothly shows us that sometimes timing has to be just right for the Love Spark to ignite. For Courtney and Dean this fairy tale is real. Their easy relationship is refreshing to read. There is only angst between them when Courtney isn't sure of Dean's feelings, and then when the lies come out. It's normal to feel insecure in a relationship at the beginning. I mean I've been with my hubby for 20 years married for 18 and I was insecure for many years even after we got married. Trust takes time to build and with Courtney and Dean they didn't have a lot of time to do that. They were secretive with their relationship to all the family until everyone could look at them and just tell there was something there. This hurt them and some of their family. But the worst part was the lie of omission when Dean failed to get Courtney's car running so she could make a big move. He did it to help his sister, but I feel he would have done it anyway. He wanted Courtney to stay so bad it hurt him mentally. The time it gave them went to building trust.
When Courtney found out what Dean and his sister had done, she was not only heartbroken but their trust was broken. She spent some time alone thinking about it and finally came to the conclusion that their heart was in the right place and love should always win out. Best HEA's are when Love Always Win Out!! That is my most favorite type of HEA. It continues to prove to me that any obstacle I may have with my hubby, we will overcome it because our love will always win out. So that that to heart and pick this one up. I'm giving it a 4 of 5. Can't wait for the next Magnolia Sound Novel.

And Then One Day is the 4th installment of the Magnolia Sound series and Samantha has now introduced us to Scarlett's older brother Dean and her best friend Courtney.
Courtney has had a huge crush on Dean for years and Dean has been too blind to notice. This was a very interesting story that starts off with a wham, bam, and thank you ma'am and turns very hot and heavy.
There are moments when Dean and Courtney are too cute for words and other moments where you get so frustrated with them for not speaking up or saying what's on their mind. Communication was a big issue between these two characters and that leads to some pretty interesting events that take place throughout this Story. Scarlett doesn't help the situation either!
I love series that continue story lines from previous books and characters that you love, so I loved that Scarlett and Mason are very heavily involved in Dean and Courtney's story. I am very interested to see who else will Samantha write about, I am hoping that she will write a book about one of Mason's sisters with one of Scarlett's brothers...hmm I know who I will be rooting for!!
Dean Jones is the oldest of the Jones siblings, he tends to be the most responsible and the one that always cares for everyone else. Courtney Baker is Scarlet Jones’ (Who is Dean’s little sister) best friend. Courtney is very happy for her best friend who is about to be married and have a baby, but can’t help but wonder when it will be her turn. After losing her job she decides it maybe time for a change. This was a wonderful Best Friend’s Brother romance. One of my Favorite tropes. It was a relaxing read with a lot of sweet, tenders moments, but also sexy and funny moments. It had me feeling good and wishing I could go visit Magnolia Sounds. I love the setting and all of the characters, not only the way Dean and Courtney seem to just click, but his brothers, dad and grandpa, they are all great. I am hoping we will see more of the Jones family in future books!! But until than you will definitely want to read And Then One Day!!
A nice contemporary romance about a relationship that could happen this way. Courtney Baker has had a crush on Dean Jones for a long time. But since she is 6 years younger she was like family to him and his sister's best friend. Now that Courtney is a bit older and still has a crush on Dean, she blurts out her feelings and kisses him at a party. Dean has a crush on her as well but never thought she liked him that way. Courtney wants to leave town looking for better job opportunities and the right guy for her, since she thinks she has no chance with Dean. But her car breaks down and Dean sees a chance to chance to show Courtney how he feels. Great relationships, family and a fun home town.
I enjoyed this quite a bit. Courtney and Dean have lots of chemistry, the story progressed at a reasonable pace, and I thought there was a solid mix of romance and steam.
My biggest issue was some of the secondary characters’ issues being used to move the plot forward. When Scarlett goes into labour early, she is able to take the baby home after 4 days in the NICU - a baby born at 33 weeks gestation would never be allowed to leave within a few days. And I don’t know why, but this annoyed me to no end. Plus Scarlett then brought the baby to see Courtney within a couple of days of their hospital release…really? Your preemie is going out and about?
Anyway, things like this took me out of the story and dropped my rating for this…but the romance itself was good.

And Then One Day by Samantha Chase is book four in her Magnolia Sound Series. The previous book is All the Befores. Courtney is about to leave town, just after the wedding of her best friend Scarlett. She needs a new home, a new job and somehow a new life too. Her secret crush on Dean, Scarlett's oldest brother leads her nowhere and she has to move on. Dean likes Courtney just fine, but he's a bit of a loner and words are not his tool. ATOD is a beautiful story, a romantic novel, sweet, emotional and heart warming. I liked the writing and the great storyline. 4,5 beautiful stars
From heart tingles to heartaches, Magnolia Sound is the premier destination for swoonworthy romance. Samantha Chase started something special with a little slice of heaven, irresistible characters and tempting storytelling. From heroes that dare to dream to heroines determined to make their mark and emotions that will forever endure, Magnolia Sound just keeps getting better. And Then One Day, let's readers revisit own friends while finding new ones. Court and Dean turn what if into a sentimental ride into forever. A heartwarming love story that's been years in the making.
I love visiting Magnolia Sound! A wonderful best friend's brother romance! The Magnolia Sound series has been amazing so far, and this was another great addition to the lineup. This was the first time that I loved the male character more than the female. Don't get me wrong, I adore Courtney, but she definitely had her immature moments, lol. Thank goodness for alcohol and it's ability to allow the truth to come out...enabling feelings to be revealed that otherwise probably wouldn't have seen the light of day.
Dean sure likes to give his woman heart attacks, “you’re supposed to come take a shower with me,” he said from directly behind her. She all but jumped out of her skin at the sound of his voice." Dean needs to give his woman a talking to at times, “are you telling me you don’t even feel bad about making me do all the work?” Dean asked. “Need I remind you how this was all your idea?” I liked this book, I liked Dean.
Dean and Courtney melted my heart. He spent his life looking out for everyone else, including his little sister's best friend. But we all grow up sometime.
I love Dean so much. Courtney, I wanted to shake at times, but I loved her too. Together, they were the perfect couple (while not being perfect). This series just keeps getting better and better!
Oh Dean, how I love thee! As Scarlett’s big brother he has never really thought of her best friend Courtney as anything more than just that, his little sister’s best friend. Courtney on the other hand has been crushing on Dean since she was a teenager despite the fact that he always seemed out of her reach. Well buckle up and hang on as Samantha Chase tells this thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable story of how things finally change for Dean and Courtney. It is equal parts sweet, charming and sexy. I absolutely adore them and their journey to a HEA. I love this series so much and all the characters we have been introduced to and gotten to know. I honestly can’t pick a favorite couple, but rather can say this is just another couple and story to fall in love with and I totally did, head over heels! Can’t wait for more in this series!
And Then One Day is the fourth book in the Magnolia Sound series by Samantha Chase. Dean is Scarlett's brother from In Case You Didn't Know and Courtney her best friend. The genre is one of my favorites and I had a good time reading it.
Scarlett was a sore spot in this book. I was not a big fan of hers in her book and things got worse in this one. She was manipulative and her overall attitude left a bitter taste in my mouth. I loved seeing her and Mason as a couple and how they live in their happily ever after.
I was not a big fan of Dean's deception, even if Scarlett told him to do it and there was some lack of communication that made things harder for our characters, which was also something I didn't like.
What I did like was the pace of the story. It was good and steady for the duration of the book, which made it easy to read. The characters were good people. Dean is the caretaker of the family and it showed, Courtney is looking for something more and I wanted to see her spread her wings and find love and happiness. I got that in this book and I was happy.
Overall, the good outweighs the bad and I liked some aspects of the book more than I disliked others. I would recommend the book.
Life as Courtney knows it is about to shift so she decides that it is time for her to embrace a different future rather than just leave everything status quo. She has made plans to leave town after her best friend’s wedding and hopefully leave the feelings she has for Dean, her best friend’s brother behind. But first she enjoys one wedding kiss which leads to a steamy night with Dean however it won’t change her plans, will it?
Dean has always put the needs of his families and friends in front of his own. He has been attracted to Courtney for as long as he can remember but not only did he not think she would feel the same way but he didn’t want to complicate the family dynamic. After their evening together he doesn’t want her to leave but with the help of some timely intervention will he be able to convince her that the only place she belongs is with him?
This is a heartwarming story about love and family. The feelings they have for each other are much more than physical and it is always fund to catch up with the other characters that we know and love.
Courtney has had a crush on her best friends brother for as long as she could remember. But it is not until she is at a crossroads in her life does a simple kiss at a wedding turn into so much more. Will she risk the friendship she has with Scarlett by risking her heart with Dean? Or will Courtney walk away from her friend and a brand new relationship when a secret is revealed? In true Samantha Chase fashion, once again the reader falls instantly in love with the characters from Magnolia Sound. I was locked in from the opening pages and I did not put it down until it was finished. So happy to return to Magnolia Sound and I look forward to more in the series.
A fade-to-black sex scene? Is that what we're doin' out here folks? In 2020???
Coincidentally, my first DNF (at 18% after that fade-to-black bullshit) of 2020 as well.
Look, I realize that there is an audience for "clean and wholesome" romance novels with little to no sex in them but I ain't it. I like my romance to have some boom boom in it. I'm not talking whips and being tied up or painting bodies with syrup and freaky shit like that but I like a little action.
As much as I enjoy the sexy bits, it still isn't a requirement--I have been known to read and even enjoy a few romances that had no descriptive sex scenes in them when I was younger. But I am a grown ass woman now, I've come to expect some descriptions in romance and the first few chapters of this book held some promise.
Things were getting hot and heavy and I was feeling the power behind those steamy make-out sessions between our hero and heroine. But then, just as things started to get tense. . . fade to black. . . Here, I'll show you: "Dean?" "Hmm?" "Lose the boxers," she said breathlessly. "Yes, ma'am." And as soon as he was done, he surprised her by ridding her of her thong and of her breath when his mouth trailed a hot path from her beasts and downward. As soon as he settled in to please her, Courtney forgot about everything else and enjoyed the ride.
---------------------------
She was gone. Dean Rolled over and squinted at how bright his bedroom was and realized he was alone.
Yes folks, that annoying line in the middle there (which actually appears in the book) is supposed to represent the sex scene that we have been shut out of. Ok, if you don't want to include heavy descriptions of the scene, fine leave that part out. But do not--I repeat--DO NOT show me the heavy petting, and the strip teasing, lead me up to the bedroom door and then BAM! Slam it in my face.
Sex may not be all a relationship is about but let's face it, it is an important part of the intimate and emotional building of the couples' journey. If I get to be part of their workplace/home life/dealing with exes drama, why not let me be a part of ALL OF IT? This fade to black bullshit just pisses me off and has now earned Samantha Chase's backlog (as well as any future endeavors) a firm place on my "don't get fooled again" shelf!
This series is one of my all-time favorites from Chase, and I love returning to Magnolia Sound time and again. This time, Scarlett’s brother, Dean, and her best friend, Courtney, get their HEA. Courtney has had a crush on Dean for years, but she's given up hope that anything will ever happen between them. Not only is he her best friend's brother, but he's six years older than her. When she loses her job as a dental technician and her parents turn their house into an Air BNB while they’re vacationing for months, Courtney realizes there’s nothing left for her in Magnolia Sound.
When Courtney has car trouble on her way out of town, Dean rides to her rescue and takes her car to the family's garage to determine the damage. This begins a scheme by a very pregnant, emotional Scarlett, enlisting the help of Dean and their father to keep Courtney in town so she'll be there for the birth of Mason and Scarlett’s child. With Courtney staying at Dean's house and them just beginning to explore their feelings, the tangled web gets even more deceptive.
I was a little surprised by Courtney's lack of maturity, and this is always an issue for me. I think this character trait can send the wrong message to easily influenced readers and it can come across as rewarding bad behavior. Courtney did eventually learn and grow, which helped to redeem that aspect of her personality. Otherwise, she is loyal, driven and industrious, which I admired a lot and thought complemented Dean really well. Dean had his shakable moments, as well, and the things that were holding him back ended up being much ado about nothing, which I think is an excellent lesson – most of the things we worry about don’t happen, so why waste energy worrying?
While not my favorite couple from this series (Mason and Scarlett will always own my heart) I enjoyed traveling their road to forever with Courtney and Dean. The concept of family is a strong theme in all of Chase's books, and this one highlights that family is not only blood, but also sisters of the heart. With a nice dose of humor, a bit of drama, a Hallmark rating, and plenty of hits to the heart, Courtney and Dean's story is a great addition to a phenomenal series.
Courtney and Dean’s love story in And Then One Day, book 4 in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series, is an emotional and heartwarming tale of family and finding love when you think no one has noticed you. Courtney Baker is tired of not being noticed, especially by the man she has always wanted; her best friend’s older brother, Dean Jones. When her boss retire puts her out of a job, Courtney thinks this is the perfect time to move away from small town life; which she will do shortly after her best friend’s wedding. Everything would have gone smoothly if not for Courtney drunkenly blurting out her feelings and kissing Dean. At least, she believed, she would be leaving town in a couple of days so it shouldn’t matter. Dean is shocked by this kiss, only because he’s also been secretly attracted to Courtney, for years. But, she’s his sister’s best friend and that’s a line he knows not to cross. Driving through standing water puts her car out of commission, causing Dean Jones to come get her and tow her car. This gives him the chance to keep her in town for a little while and maybe enough time for him to get her out of his system.
I loved Drew Jones!! He was kind, caring, dependable, and take charge. Being the eldest, he became a caretaker for his younger siblings, especially after the death of their mother. He didn’t worry about himself or what he wanted; he dropped everything when they needed him. The biggest problem was one night with Courtney would never be enough for Dean. Not sure a lifetime would. Courtney needed to feel loved, especially from Drew. She especially needed to love herself, before accepting the situation she was in, job-wise at least. One Day they were friends and then another day they belonged to each other.
Ms. Chase wrote a wonderful, heartwarming and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Courtney and Dean the love and happiness needed for them to have a forever life together. I highly recommend And Then One Day to other readers and look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This is my honest review
Samantha Chase’s release And Then One Day the 4th book in her Magnolia Sound series. Well this is technically 6th book if you count the 2 novellas in the series. I definitely have to because I first read the beginning of And Then One Day at the end of book 3.5, All the Befores (freaking fantastic book by the way!!!). My first thoughts were “gimme, I haaaave to have this book NOW, please don’t make me wait!!!” Well, I waited, and you know what? And Ladies, it was worth every second of my pain and suffering of waiting for this book to be released. When it hit my Kindle, I dropped EVERYTHING and started reading it, I could not put it down until I finished every word. But then, alas, I as sad, because this story was over, I wanted more. This always happens when I love a book this much. I LOVED Courtney and Dean; their characters are utter perfection. Each unknowingly crushing on the other, both too chicken to admit to their feelings. But then Courtney loses her job and makes plans to move away and figures ‘what the he…” and kisses Dean at her best friend’s wedding rehearsal. The sparks… give me a fan. But Dean, even though he felt the sparks, stupidly thinks Courtney is too drunk to know what she was doing. STUPID, stupid man!! So, with nothing she can do, goes thru with her plan to move 4 hours away from Magnolia Sound. However, fate, well fate has other plans. I, as a reader, love book series when they are all standalones, but you still get to see characters from the previous books. And Ms. Chase’s Magnolia Sound series certainly does this. Sorry, Ladies, I hate to review and run, but you see, I loved this book /series so much I also bought the Audible addition, and it just hit my iPhone, so I am going to go reread/listen to this fabulous book again. I was gifted with an early copy of this wonderful book for my reading pleasure and for my opinion regarding the book, and as you can see, definitely loved this book!! Thank you for reading my review. I really do believe you will love this book as much as I do, so what are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button and enjoy.
"...This is like a dream...and it still feels hard to believe sometimes." Kissing her cheek, he said, "It shouldn't. This is always where we were meant to be. I mean, one day you were just a friend." She smiled and looked over her shoulder at him. "And then one day, you were mine." Dean smiled back. "And you were mine."
Okay, when I didn't think this series could get any better. Seriously, I'm loving the Magnolia series so far and getting excited to see where the next one goes. Samantha Chase actually does a really good job at her own style of contemporary romance and all and I'm so glad as well my state county library had moved their Libby to a state consortium earlier this year and with more variety and choices to choose from on both audiobooks and kindle library books, I discovered this series on there and so far I'm so loving this series and don't think I'd ever discover or read/listen to these since my local library/county library branches don't have any Samantha Chase books so bonus!
Anyway, this story is the cutest one ever I have to say to get one of Scarlett's (from the previous book) brother's who happens to be the eldest of the Jones kids' Dean and of course Courtney who we met also briefly in the previous book. These two, despite the relationship they have through Scarlett, always thought the other was off limits because after all for Courtney, Dean was her best friend's brother and for Dean, Courtney was his little sister's best friend and at the same time both Dean and Courtney have had crushes on each other. (Courtney though was the longest)
I won't say much to give it away because of Dean's personality and what kind of person he is and how Courtney was seriously the perfect match for him and vice versa. Next book is Hunter Jones, brother number two of the Jones clan and reading his story, it's going to be super sweet I can tell and stoked for when I get the next book on audio which is hopefully soon so I can keep going and read/listen to the rest of these books! *heart eyes*
Another visit to Magnolia Sound! This magical town and it’s citizens have become like family, just like other series by Ms. Chase. We’ve fallen in love with Mason, Scarlett, Susannah and Colton, Mallory and Jake and of course, Sam and Shelby. This is the love story of Courtney and Dean.
We’ve watched Courtney as everyone around her found their HEA. She has been the fun friend, the girl who loves having a good time and encouraging others to take a risk on love. It’s not so easy when she’s trying to make a life for herself as others are moving on. She feels like she needs a clean break and the stars align for her to get that break. But before she can reach the city limits, the stars decide to sparkle in a different direction. And with a little help from their friends, the stars start to sparkle in Dean’s eyes. But Courtney has always had feelings for him and he was a little too off limits. He was her best friends oldest brother. He was older and more mature. And he never even looked her way.
Dean doesn’t know what’s happening. All of a sudden, his little sister is married and pregnant. His brothers are acting crazy toward his sister’s best friend and he’s getting all kinds of thoughts about her himself. Seems like the planets are off the axis and everything is off kilter, including himself.
I’ve loved getting to know and being a part of this series. The characters are not perfect. They are truly flawed humans who are just living their lives and falling in love. I truly enjoy seeing the couples from book to book and watching them grow and change. And knowing the HEA are going to be there helps me enjoy the trip.
Samantha Chase has delivered another wonderful romance with And Then One Day, the fourth book in her Magnolia Sound series. As always, I love the Magnolia Sound, NC setting and catching up with the some of other characters in the series. I enjoy how Samantha Chase writes from the perspective of the two main characters. That way you get to know what is going on in each of their minds. And Then One Day is the story of Courtney Baker, dental hygienist and BFF of Scarlett Jones Bishop and Dean Jones, a mechanic who works for his Dad. Courtney has had a crush on Dean since she was a young girl, and Dean has been crushing on Courtney, but considered their age difference and that Courtney is his little sister's BFF, and thought that Courtney was off limits. At the rehearsal dinner for Scarlett and Mason's wedding, Courtney decides to put herself out there and kiss Dean once everyone is gone. Courtney recently lost her job when the dentist she worked for suddenly retired. She decides to move to Raleigh after the wedding in search of a new job. Courtney uses the excuse that she had too much to drink for the reason she kissed Dean. Courtney decides to take Dean up on his offer to go home with him after the wedding. On her way out of town to Raleigh, Courtney's car breaks down and Dean comes to her rescue. Courtney has no car, no job and no place to live since her parents made their home an Air BNB knowing Courtney was leaving town and they were traveling. Dean invites Courtney to stay at his house and things heat up between the two of them. Eventually, Courtney finds out that both Dean and Scarlett have lied to her and she hides out at Dean's brother, Hunter's house. What can Dean do to win Courtney back especially since she has job offers waiting for her in Raleigh. I loved the story and am so glad that both Courtney and Dean got their happily ever afters. Samantha Chase has once again shown she is an amazing story teller. And Then One Day contained all the things I have loved most in the series, romance, great characters and setting, bittersweet moments and the plot twist that ties it all together. Amazing story. Could not put it down.
And Then One Day Magnolia Sound # 4 Samantha Chase ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In think we’ve all read a best friends romance, this one would be one my favourites. Dean Jones is the sexy mechanic that has sprays been the family man, but not in the daddy way. After the death of his mum he became the one his brothers and sister came to to fix their dramas. And as an adult is still the same… but one night, one drunken comment will change forever.
Coutney Baker has always been in love with her best friends brother. Courtney and Scarlett have been friends forever, they dreamed of loves, marriage and have babies together. Now Scarlett has her forever with a baby in the way, and Courtney is unemployed, homeless and ready to leave Magnolia behind for a new start. Leaving her long time love behind.
After a drunken confession bought in by alcohol with Dean, and her true feeling known she’s in even bigger trouble. A night of pleasure with him is the perfect non perfect goodbye. But yet again nothing goes to plan and Courtney finds herself broken down again heading back to Magnolia… Nothing is going right, but Dean has a helping hand ready for her. Another passionate night, more feelings and no way out Courtney is drowning…
But Dean is the one holding the secrets, ones keeping Courtney in Magnolia, ones she has no idea about. Needing to find his footings and the lies eating away at him, will Courtney forgive and forget or will he lose everything he didn’t know he wanted !
BFF’s sibling romances are my all time favorite romance trope. Even if you yourself never crushed on your siblings’ bestie (or your bestie’s sibling), doesn’t just the thought of something slightly forbidden, but not in an icky way, make you want to know more? Courtney definitely knew what she was doing when she started crushing on her friend Scarlett’s older brother Dean. That man made me need to fan myself in more than one occasion! Yes, he was also sometimes frustrating, as those brooding, not-great-with-words types are. But dealing with Courtney, who was both impetuous and flighty at the story’s beginning, couldn’t have been easy. Thankfully, the each got out of their own way! I did have an issue with two secondary characters, though...Mason and Scarlett, our couple from book three. Pregnancy turned her into a needy shrew and him into a lap dog. I wanted to strangle her for her treatment of Courtney. In fact, I might have had to take a long break from that friendship for my own sanity. But these 5 stars are for Dean, Courtney and especially the always wonderful storytelling of Ms. Chase. Is it any wonder that her books are constantly on the top on my wish list and to-be-read pile. I’ve said it before, but Magnolia Sound is a great place to visit!
