KINDLE FREEBIE 6/24/17
I didn't know that there is a series that was written before this one that mentions this character, so I will no doubt have to check it out. It didn't add or take away from this book though.
I've noticed author's/publishers have been releasing there first book for free or on Kindle Unlimited and then making the rest of their series only available by purchase. I find it evil and pure genius. Cause now after reading this book I am intrigued to find out more about the rest of the brothers.
Tank is as big as his name. People move out of his way. But underneath that massive exterior is a caring son and brother. He's got some ghosts in his past and one is wanting to come back and live in his future. That being his father who he hasn't seen since he was a child. He left their family to struggle and barley make it. But now he's sick and wanting to reunite with his children. What Tank didn't know was that he and his brother aren't the only kids his father is trying to reacquaint himself with. Tank finds out he has 3 other brother's all from different women. His father was a busy man. Busy making babies and then soon leaving them behind. His father has a plan where he will pay his kids to visit him since he has now become filthy rich. Tank doesn't want to but with his mother becoming ill once more and them not being able to pay for her surgeries or care he see's a lawyer to make everything legit. That is where he meets, Emma. She's the receptionist and with every appointment he has the bigger the crush he has for her grows. But Emma is hesitant and has some ghosts of her own that she is trying to move away from and start over.
It was a pretty good story for what it was and the writing was good. I am definitely interested in reading the rest of the series.

Wow I really loved this one. I wish I'd have read this sooner but hey it just means more books are out in the series and 4 more brothers to get their hea oh yes! 💞
Tank was just yummy. So protective and so loving to Emma. I had a great time reading this and really loved that the angst was kept low.

This one read really badly. Like the story was just not good. The story was so cliche it was awful.
I thought the hero was cliche... some tough fighter guy whose literally falling apart because his mum has cancer and he is trying to hold it together and not fight and disappoint his mum and ew, just ew. I wanted to slap him and say man up, dude!!!! Please! For everyone's sake. We get that this sux but it isn't all about you.
Anyway, just another one that I am having no trouble not reading any more of than the sample. Sorry.

I bought this book cause Zsquared read it and it sounded really good when I read the blurb. A couple of weeks later I reread the blurb and thought meh...not really. A month later I was in the mood to read this book. What can I say? I'm obviously strange. Anyhoo moving on. I give this 3.75 - 4 Stars.
This is a spin off series from Ms. Malone and the Alexander series.
Tanner "Tank" Marshall is angry. Angry at life, at his mothers illness, at his father for being who he is and for being desperate enough to ask his father for help although he doesn't want to. Tanks Dad is of the opinion that money can buy you everything but it can't. He has alterior motives. Tank has to deal with the lawyers to get what he wants he goes there every Monday but really it is to see Emma the receptionist. He has asked Emma out every single time but she has always said no. Tank also find out that he has 3 more brothers he never knew about.
Emma had to postpone her dream of being a vet due to her parents being murdered about a year ago. By day she is a receptionist by night she is waitress in a strip club to earn money for her tuition. She is also very friendly with Tanks Dad until he makes her an offer she can't refuse. She is tempted but not interested until she feels like she has no choice. She lives with her sister Ivy but they have grown apart and Ivy's boyfriend doesn't exactly help.
Tank and Emma's relationship starts out backwards but in the end they get there. Emma feels safe and Tank is calmed by Emma. The book was better than I expected and I will continue with the next book and the series.

So we finally got Tank's story. Met him in the Alexander books. I really liked it. Looking forward to more of the Marshall brothers. P.S. Don't get in Tank's way, he'll crush you ;)

This is my first time reading an M. Malone book. It was fine. Nothing earth shattering but nothing mind-numbing. Just an easy, if slightly average contemporary romance escape.

Very good but the ending left me wanting....a hfn at best ending so that was my only disappointment. Hope to see more of them in the next stories:)

: One of the things I see some authors, or maybe it’s not them, but maybe it’s the publishers – but no matter –do is offer the first book in a new series up for free or priced very low. I think this is a brilliant idea, specially if it’s free. If this book hadn’t been free I might not have perked up and noticed it. As it is I’ve already purchased the next book and plan to get the whole series. Win/Win for both the author and me.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. At the beginning of the book Tank Marshall is one troubled dude. His mother’s cancer has come back, he has a father who abandoned them when he and his brother Finn were just children and now wants back in their lives again. Tank is very bitter and wants nothing to do with him. He’s pretty rough around the edges but that just made him more appealing to me. But his father is now very very wealthy and offering to pay Tank and Finn for just visiting. If it was left up to Tank he would tell his father to pound salt, but he has the expense of his mother’s cancer to consider. An expensive surgery could save her life.
He’s also developed a crush on the receptionist of his father’s attorney, one Emma Shaw. Tank’s unusual method of dealing with stress is to beat people up. Bad people that is. It’s rather an unusual way of handling it, but kind of cute in a “Girl, you are sick” kind of way. And it is only guys who deserved to get their lights punched out.
He finally gets a chance to connect with Emma who has enough struggles of her own. Her parents are both dead and it’s just her and her sister. Money is therefore an issue. Things are strained between Emma and her sister, she’s dating a real douche bag who keeps hitting on Emma. She knows and is actually quite fond of Tank’s father. And when he offers her a deal she can’t resist……
Therefore we have two people who aren’t in the best place finding and bonding with each other.
Tank is so smitten with Emma and will do pretty much anything she asks. There is this hilarious ‘cat’ scene that I won’t say anymore on so as not to spoil anything because hey, no sense not getting this book at the mighty fine price of $0.00.
There is conflict towards the end of the story that could have devolved into an annoying Big Misunderstanding, but the author didn’t go there. Both Tank and Emma were well written
One thing I should note that the book is written in first person, present tense with alternating chapters from Tank and Emma’s POV. In the past that would have meant I would have passed on this book but thank goodness I outgrew that bias. It would have limited my reading world causing me to miss some really good books including this one.
As mentioned, this is the just the first in a series. It seems that Papa Marshall was a bunny kind of guy and Tank and Finn have other brothers they never knew about.
This book gets a thumbs up and I’ll read more by M. Malone from me. I can certainly see me rereading this one again.

Got this freebie from Amazon. I just have so little tolerance these days for really aggressive heroes. And Tank wanting to beat the shit out of people (even if they’re bad guys) to “relieve tension” or his anger issues or whatever made me uncomfortable. I wish there was more between Emma and her sister, Ivy, because that was such an important relationship for her and yet her sister ghosts her or disappears for a good chunk of the book. Eh. I doubt I’ll continue this series.
ETA: I realized I didn't say anything positive in this review (oops, I was in a mood) but I'll tell you one thing I really loved and appreciated: Emma, who worked PT as a waitress at a strip club, makes a judgmental comment about strippers, and Tank challenges this on page. There is even a scene where Emma later apologizes and says she was being judgmental. More of this, please!

Minx Malone always brings a story to life with her writing style. I can when I read “Teasing Trent”. It was a love story that broke the monotony of what love stories have become now.
This is what Tank reminded me of, not too much of erotica sex scenes but enough to know it’s there and still gives a sexy reaction to her readers. A story line that plays throughout the chapters, which makes you not want to out the book down. I read this book in a 24hr span and it was worth it.
“Tank, Please”. It should embarrass me that I’m essentially begging. But I’ve never felt this before, this all-consuming heat. This blinding desire to have him inside me, I’ve wanted men before but I’ve never felt this out of control. This needy.
So sweet, he mutters, “So damn sweet” –Tank
Not taking anything away from other authors, but I like different writing styles and like to read what I want when I want.
Tank and Emma had nothing in common but backgrounds so different that in which were so opposite it drew them together; Except the root of all that is evil. Money, family and deception is what pulled them together and what also broke them apart.
Tank a man of with the heart who could have any woman he wanted; the demeanor that’ll fill a room with his confidence and anger that can only be humbled by one woman.
Emma a self-conscious lady that scoffs at arrogance; shields her on pain and laughs at her beauty. Until she finds herself in a bind with an offer that she can’t refuse or can she?
Tank is a war veteran that has come home and now works for Alexander Security…. Right… The very sexy Eli Alexander’s company. He has currently gone back to his hometown to take care of some family business that leads him on a path that he has never thought about …. Relationships. He learns that his father, whom left him at the age of eight is trying reunite his family again…. Only Tank’s knowledge of family doesn’t consist of just his mother and brother….. Yeeeaaaahhh Minx… you did us in with this little shocker.
Emma seems like seems to be starting her life over after tragic events that occurs in her life. Living with her sister in their childhood home where they grew up, seems to be all the life she has. Knowing what has to be done and taking actions to do them, Emma learns that life gets thrown obstacles, and obstacles are made out of turmoil. She doesn’t let that deter her from the life and future her parents set up for her. It just makes it harder when she finds that her sister didn’t have the same plan. Stuck with two jobs, one that was a given out of pity and the other that was taken out of desperation, Emma’s determination is thrown back after she loses her second job.
It hurts imagining what it’ll be like once he knows. He’ll hate me. I never knew I could be devastated by something that hasn’t even happened yet. But that’s what this feels like.

I can continue this review and point out how Emma and Tank finds their way to each other. How her dirty little secret keeps them apart. But I’ll refrain and allow readers to enjoy this book as I did. What I will tell you is that Minx Malone brings depth to the story as I know she will in her upcoming follow up books. She’s opened up so many story lines and opportunities for the rest of this series. I’m ecstatic about it!
This is what she does, she gives us an introduction for what’s to come… Absolutely the way to keep her fans coming back.

This was a really interesting start to the series. I got it as a freebie, but I'm going to have to continue with the series to see where it goes. It was well-written, and while maybe some common romance story tropes, it was still an interesting story.
Tanner "Tank" Marshall's father walked away when he was eight, leaving him and his younger brother with their heartbroken mother. But mom did a great job raising her boys on her own and they love her to pieces. Sadly, she's fighting cancer for a second time, and this time, she needs some surgery she can't afford. But Tank and Finn's father is back in the picture after all these years. Dear old Dad is a billionaire, and he's been trying to reconnect with his sons by offering money. Tank has resisted because he feels like his father is trying to buy him, but now that his mom could use the money, he's bending a bit.
Along with all this drama with his father, he's needed to negotiate his possible relationship with his father through his lawyers, and Emma is the receptionist at the law firm. He's drawn to her and asks her out every time he's there, but she declines. She has drama in her life, and she's just trying to get back on track and views Tank as a really big distraction. Until Tank's dad makes an offer she thinks will solve all her problems. She quickly realizes, however, that being a part of Tank's life and family is greater than any other potential reward.
At first, I thought Emma was sort of a doormat. I think she'd prefer to be invisible, but she has this great inner strength and beauty. I loved how she treated Tank's mom. Apparently she's externally beautiful as well, but (of course, because this is fiction), she doesn't really know it. Or maybe it has more to do with her believe that her older sister is the gorgeous one, so she feels insignificant next to her. And while Tank can appreciate Emma's sister's looks, Emma is the one who calms his restless spirit.
The way the two of them came together was really sweet. There were a few steamy scenes as well -- they definitely have chemistry -- and of course there had to be some conflict, but I was happy with where things ended.
In dealing with their father, Tank and Finn discover three half-brothers they never knew about. The series will follow all of them, but it'll be interesting to see how they bring Lucas into the fold (since he apparently doesn't want to be found) as well as to learn why Tank's dad is doing all of this now. Enjoyable, quick and sexy read. Tanner "Tank" Marshall thought he had his anger and fighting under control, under his mom's cancer returned. But Emma finds that Tank makes her feel safe, and he's not what she thought. When she finds out he's the son of the elderly man she's been visiting, things change. I really liked these characters. The book was short, so not a lot of time to get to know them, but they were likable and interesting and the story made you want them to get their HEA! Looking forward to Finn's story.

Tank & Emma- BRAB Online Book Club
I really enjoy this author's work. I've read her Alexander series and absolutely love them. This new series with Tank, who we were introduced to in the Alexander series, had me intrigued, to say the least.
Big lovable tough guy Tank met his match when he met Emma in his lawyer's office. Dealing with his mother's returning cancer and his estranged father's need for reconciliation, was making him angry and destructive. Emma was the one bright spot in his life and he pursued her relentlessly.
Emma having baggage of her own, was reluctant to get into any relationship. Being present in the home when her parents were murdered in a home invasion, was debilitating for her. Her sister's boyfriend was a sore spot in her life as well. Tank was the last man she wanted but he was exactly what she needed.
I love the build up of characters including the secondary characters, his brothers, mother and others. The series of events that led to some misunderstanding made the story interesting. Tank and Emma eventually got their HEA. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

I wasn't blown away with this story or the characters. It was just a meh-read - the kind you can take or leave. I thought it moved really slowly and I was bored. So much like so many others and some questionable moves throughout. Just wasn't what I had in mind or expecting. There is something about those "billionaires" that just don't set quite right with me.

I enjoyed this story about Emma and Tank. Emma is seriously down on her luck and Tank is not faring much better. His estranged father is trying to worm his way back into Tank's life by offering the one thing that will help his sick mother... money. All of their paths cross and everyone's motives for getting involved in each other's lives become unclear. Is Tank's father a master manipulator or sneaky matchmaker? Read to find out.

Oooooh, this book is worth the 5*'s of rating, more to be honest!!
M. Malone's writing was just irresistible not to enjoy. Seriously though, considering it was my first time reading her books I thought I would take my time completing it so to say that I was surprised to be nearly done reading it is an understatement. I felt like I was on a non-existent hangover where I didn't remember how I got to the place I ended up on, ha! But the things I would remember if I were to be on a hangover - it had the perfect amount of humor, love/chemistry, sadness (this not being over-dramatic made it so much better), protectiveness, and not forgetting the major sexyness. Also, I seriously loved how there was a leveled consistency of the story, not too boring nor too overly over the top, it was in-between and just perfect!! And the dual POV was just icing on the top!
Tanner Marshall AKA Tank is godddamn sexy, hot, charming and too damn alluring. Yup, deffo one of my book boyfriends now. Ahhh, my heart literally cried for him and how he dealt with his 'daddy issues' but I suppose how the book ended it made up for the loss of having no father around, not in a major way but yes, it somehow made it better! I deffo 'tolerated' Maxwell after this revelation I suppose. The responsibilities he faced for his mom though and how he dealt with them was inspiring to be honest. His relationship with Emma was just sexy and compassionate. I give him props for being there for her in all the ways imaginable! Not forgetting his long lost brothers and their love for one another. All in all, I love the guy and his imperfections, obviously I found his vulnerability quite hot as well, not forgetting his sexy mouth either!

Emma Shaw and god, bless her! She was too cute and totally a girl I would become bestie's with! I loved how she did go through her problems but they weren't over-dramatized, she faced them and dealt with it by herself!!! I adored her animal-loving personality and then influencing that onto Tank was endearing and humorous at the same time. I loved it! Definitely not your everyday heroine. Her life wasn't any simpler either, her relationship with her sister, Ivy was rocky - I did dislike her for a while but the circumstances were as such too so I understood I guess. And as it did for Tank, my heart cried for her too with acknowledging her past story and how she built new relationships, especially with Tank!! I loved her even more for being understanding and tender-hearted with him!!
Basically, these two are now one of my favorite couple, I seriously enjoyed reading this and the only regret I have? Is reading too quickly! But I cannot say I didn't enjoy it. Depends of the reader I suppose whether their relationship was insta-love or not. I received Tan by M. Malone for free through author Kit Rocha. They were gracious enough to provide some of their readers with a few freebies and this was one of them. I picked this one up to read on a whim, I think it was the title of the book more than anything. I didn't even know what it was about. It didn't take me long to really start enjoying this book. Tank has a burning hatred for the man that sired him but circumstances what they are (his mom is sick) he needs the money that his father is offering him. All he has to do is show up once a week so the old man can see him. Before he agrees to anything he decides that it is in his best interest to see a lawyer and keep seeing the same lawyer each week because of the girl that works the front desk.. Emma. He has a raging crush on her and asks her out every week and every week she says no.
Emma hasn’t had it too well as of late, her parents were murdered and all she wants to do is return to university so she can earn her degree. She works two jobs just to try to make that happen. One respectable and one not so respectable. Its a chance meeting at the second job that really has her giving Tank a second look. After he protects her and her friend and after a talk with his dad she decides to give Tank a chance and she never looks back. They basically become inseparable from there but their lives are complicated and Emma has a secret hanging over her head.
The book was entertaining and fast paced. I really enjoyed the characters and the story, though the characters are really what pull this book through. Emma is a warm soul and wants the best for everyone. Tank has some issues mostly with anger and he doesn’t have the healthiest way of dealing with it, but Emma helps. I really liked them together, I felt like they really complimented each other. I felt like there were some holes in the story especially when it came to the death of Emma’s parents. I feel like it was glossed over especially when it came to Emma’s role. I also would have liked to have heard more about Tank’s time in the military but it was barely mentioned. Overall, if you are looking for a quick entertaining read this is a good one. I may read the rest of the series and I may not. It’s still up in air, although, I did like all of Tanks brothers. There are five of them in all.

I really liked this one. While you could see the massive potential for problems as soon as Tank's father offers Emma the job of bringing his son back to him, the lead up to when everything comes to a head is fun.
And Tank... oh, man, I liked the guy. He's a little screwed up and a lot stubborn. His family life is complicated -- mom's sick, bro's hurting, and Tank's the one trying to keep them from falling apart -- and then he finds out he has a handful of other brothers he's never known about. Yeah, complicated. Emma is his light.
And she's not being entirely honest about why she's allowing her interest in him out after battening it down before.
Speaking of Emma, she hasn't had the easiest time of it recently. While the million Tank's father is offering her would go a long way toward changing things for her, some pain can't be outrun. And talk about complicated family dynamics. I didn't know what to make of Emma's sister for most of the book.
Family. You can't live with them, you can't escape their creepy boyfriends. *shudder*
Yeah, so I liked Tank, I liked Emma, and I'm completely looking forward to seeing the other brothers fall.

Emma is a receptionist at a law firm where she meets, and gets close to, an older billionaire who is trying to reach out and meet all his sons that he has. Yes, he has sons with multiple women and just kind of left them along the way. Emma also meets Tank, one of said sons, while working at the firm. Tank asks her out constantly but she keeps saying no, until one day she finally says yes. Of course this is after the father offers her money to get Tank to come see him.
Now this is where I got a little frustrated. Its this miscommunications in some romance novels that I know are what make the drama and intrigue but also sometimes drive me up the walls. If only Emma communicated more then so much could be avoided.
Overall, it sucked me in and I wanted to see what would happen with everyone and kept reading. So, a decent romance with the lead male being the heroine's protector and savior.

Normally billionaire stuff doesn’t really interest me too much and I tend to pass books with that anywhere in the title, I am glad I missed hearing the series’ name though and read this entry in the Alphas After Dark anthology. The Povs and tense used were done okay I thought, though I did catch myself going “wtf” before the characters were introduced and Tank and Emma were put at the start of their entry/povss
The story sucked me right in and I could easily relate to their predicaments for the most part. There was not a lot of background needed/given for events that happened to get them where they were but there was enough for me to catch on and enjoy the story as it unfolded—so I liked it.

This was kind of forgettable, though I'll probably go on to read the rest of the series. The story was solid, but the characters had a tendency to have long inner monologues which I started skimming after a while. I also thought they spoke their emotions far too much and in a way that seemed like everyone was a licensed therapist. At a certain point they were all far too emotionally aware. Still, I'm intrigued by the other brothers' stories and it was good fun.

I read this as part of the Light Me Up box set, which is currently $.99 and features seven full length starter stories from some authors I love.
It was a good read. The premise is interesting. Both main characters have money and trust issues, but they worked well together. I was anxious for them to work things out.
