And does the world need changing? Yes it does. While there are many wonderful aspects to being alive today, there are also many overwhelming dilemmas, be they social, environmental or spiritual. They need to be addressed by each of us if we hope to create a more sustainable future for our children.
In your own small way, you can choose to take part of the responsibility for creating some of the changes that can resolve these dilemmas. The price you pay for living on this planet is to contribute to its welfare with the skills you have.
Unfortunately, in the modern era, it is sometimes difficult to believe that you have the power to create those changes.
Several hundred years ago, you may have lived in a small village of a few hundred people. Your world would have extended no further than the visible horizon, and your individual efforts would have created a noticeable effect within such a tiny group.
But today, your world is the entire world. In a global community of seven billion people, there just seems to be too much to deal with out there. In this twenty-first century environment, it is much more difficult to believe that you have the personal power to create significant change.
