In this uplifting illustrated middle-grade biography, acclaimed sports journalist Dan Wetzel tackles the real-life story of the NFL's brightest rising star, quarterback Patrick Mahomes!
In 2018, Patrick Mahomes stepped onto the gridiron as the new, inexperienced quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. Just twenty-two-years old at the time, football fans wondered if this young man could live up to lofty expectations. Little did they know, a star was about to be born.
By season's end, Patrick threw a whopping fifty touchdowns, the youngest to ever do so, and took his team nearly all the way to the Super Bowl. And the next season, he became the youngest quarterback ever to win Super Bowl MVP! With limitless potential, Patrick not only emerged as the NFL's most dynamic and exciting player, but he's also become a role model to kids across the country. Filled with sports action and comic-style illustrations by Marcelo Baez, this inspiring biography tells the story of the new king of pro football.

120 pages of how patrick mahomes is not only good at every single sport he plays, but also how he is the nicest, most humble and most motivating person you will ever meet.
I really enjoyed learning about his early life and how he is GREAT at football and every single sport. I also liked how it had some sneaky fun facts about him. For example he got robbed to the point of gunpoint when he went home from a Kansas City Chiefs game with his girlfriend from high school Britney Matthews.
Written at a middle school reading level, this was a quick two hour read telling the story of an epic athlete and stand-up person. The message to kids that resonates is Patrick Mahommes was a multi sport athlete growing up in Texas. A star point guard that started four years in high school basketball, a phenomenal baseball player, track star, and eventually football. It is his love to play any sport and compete that makes him a winner. Also, the athletic moves he shows on the football field are natural skills that come from basketball, baseball and track. I enjoyed the stories of his three years in college and the unbelievable offense stats. A nice late night read.
Very well written story of one of today's elite athletes. Written for middle grade readers, it's easy to read, but full of information about how Mahomes became the athlete we know today. If I have to read about football, this was an enjoyable way to do so.
I thought this was a very nice story about one of my favorite players. I have liked the chiefs since I was about 5 , so to hear all about their amazing quarterback was very nice
