A regency romp to love and happiness with many obstacles in the way! Lady Imogene and Lord Thaddeus where hit by cupid's arrow the moment they laid eyes on each other... The only problem, and yes it was a hugh one, standing in their was was her terrible father and the disgusting man he was forcing her to marry! I just wanted to reach through the pages and unman them both! But love has a way of guiding those who need a helping hand and thus the adventures begin!! Merry Farmer as always, makes the sparks fly and the words almost ignite my kindle before I can get to the end! Another fun addition to those Wicked Wallflowers!!
Lady Imogen Marlowe knew Lord Thaddeus Herrington was the love of her life as soon as she met him at his brother's summer house party. The feeling was mutual and the couple planned to elope but were foiled by Imogen's awful father who betrothed her to the even more vile Lord Cunningham for his own gain. Now Imogen has been locked in her bedroom for the last six weeks until her unwanted wedding, unable to even exchange a message with Thaddeus.
Thaddeus may only be the younger son of a fairly new earl, but he has ambition and determination. He loves Imogen and will not rest until he frees her from her father and Lord Cunningham, even if the awful man seems to always be one step ahead of them.
I've been rooting for these two for awhile now and it was nice to see them finally get to be together, but the final confrontation with Lords Marlowe and Cunningham was a bit lackluster for me and I would've loved to see them get more of a true comeuppance. I also would've liked to see Imogen and Thaddeus get a bit more time together as a couple where they weren't hiding or on the run.
I'll be looking forward to the stories of the other two Marlowe sisters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Rather aggravating, THE daftest hero and heroine ever portrayed I fear
I was aggravated by a good half of this book. Sadly I fear with every added instalment the story gets more ridiculous. I mean seriously, her abusive father and pervert forced fiance have tied her to the bed in a sick manner, but when our hero finally scales the wall and climbs in her window (whilst the father and fiance are out at a brothel) instead of rescuing her he leaves her tied up and in fact decides having sex with her would be a great idea - with even our 'victim' thinking about nothing than being ravished, because every woman in that situation would of course be turned on 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Several times they almost escape but do something ludicrous, resulting in her obnoxious father and 'fiance' finding them again.
Am seriously glad to finish the book, and not sure if I'll read anymore at this point.
I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book but I have to pay £7.99 a month for the subscription)
Out of all the books in this series, this one was the absolute worst! I’ve loved every other book but this one. The characters are extremely stupid. The hero and heroine had so many chances to escape but blew it because they couldn’t control their libidos! I was very happy to reach the end just so I could e rid of their considerable stupidity! Imogene is quite possibly my least favorite character because she quite literally is the dumbest person ever!
The main characters came across as to young and immature.. the father was just about as disgusting as ever. The whole plot and story line were just ridiculous.
So I have read every book in this series and have enjoyed all of them (except this one!).. the other books are witty and had me howling out loud throughout…. But this one comp,Etsy missed the mark.
Gang pick this beauty up! I loved this piece Lady Imogen Marlowe's life is not so grand Lord Cunningham is about as far from who she wants to spend her life with as is the devil on second thought she would have been happier with the devil. Will she become a run-away? Is happiness in her future? Will the Lucky Devil be lucky for her? Some of the character's names are a hoot like her sister Lettuce a lady should not be named for a salad ingredient but that just shows what a great imagination Ms. Farmer has. I want good things for all the sisters and I look forward to reading about them too. I loved the characters, loved the plot, and adored the piece (thought I was going to say love again right?) Gang pick this beauty up you will be glad you did. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I loved this thought provoking novella. To think a parent could use their children as a comodity. I loved the story. The story is so scary, yes scary. In our modern day lives we Europeans take "love matches" for granted. We forget what our predesors faught for and what is still today a common occurance in many societies and cultures. We have to take a cerious look at ourselves. Another aspect to the era of arranged marrages comes as a shocking DNA surprise. As the aristocratic families tried to keep the welth in their close circle or "the TON" it quite often happened that i.e. 2nd cousens were betrothed to one another. The need for a "Heir and a spare" thus forced genes to be shared and thus certain hereditory ilnesses as Cictic Fibroses, has a very high occurance in Former English Society Families.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is probably my favourite book in the series. It focuses on Lady Imogen Marlowe and Lord Thaddeus Herrington. It was love at first sight when they meet at a party in Shropshire. But Imogen's father already has plans for her and as 'promised' her to one of his middle aged friends. Innocent doesn't want to marry the man her father has picked for her and so her and Thaddeus plan to run away but the question is can Thaddeus save her in time or will their plan be foiled?
This was a quick easy read. I must say it must have been some party for so many stories and HEA's to come out of it.
If you're looking for a short, steamy read, then you've come to the right place. Merry Farmer knows how to make those breeches tight and the bodices drop.
This book is a merry romp through London while Thaddeus Herrington, the third son of Lord Herrington, and his beloved Imogen as they try to stay one step ahead of her horrible father and the equally horrible Lord Cunningham. Lord Cunningham by agreeing to pay her father a sum of money, wants Imogen to abuse. And Imogen wants nothing to do with it. Her father goes so far, at one point, to tie her onto the bed, which leaves her quite 'open' to anything Thaddeus can dream up.
Perseverance and faith. Whoa, this story is full of both of those emotions. I did not think Thaddeus would ever catch a break, nevermind Imogen. At first I thought this is a solid four book but the more I read and the more intriguing the situations got (how were they going to get out of situations) the more I was involved in their story. For me, the highlight of the book comes at the very end when they are playing cards on Captain Devereaux’s ship.
The Faithful Siren was a good story with some really intriguing characters. Two people who meet at a summer house party and its love at first sight but that is just where this story will take you on one great adventure. There is plenty of twists and turn and some really great chemistry that will have you fanning yourself. In my opinion another great addition to this already fun and exciting series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and I highly recommend it.
This is an OK, shortish story, easy to read. After the poorly planned escape attempt from the Herringtons' house party several books back, you would think Thaddeus had learned something. Abit chaotic. It's amazing the couple does get away after everything that could go wrong seems to do just that. I read a free advance copy; the thoughts expressed are my own.
Wonderful romance between Thaddeus and Imogen. He is a younger son with little money and she is just a pawn of her wicked father who is forcing Imogen to marry a lecherous old man. Follow their journey as they try to escape these two evil reprobates who always seem to be one step ahead of Thaddeus and Imogen on their way to wedded bliss.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is continuous drama and adventure. Thaddeus and Imogen know what they want but evil stops them at every turn. As usual, Merry Farmer brings us an amusing short, written with imagination and daring.
All the potential in the world, the developing storyline was interesting and had the makes of a wonderful novel; however, I never could become engaged with my attention fully invested. I will definitely have to give this story another try later on.
