His eyes have the power to undo all the hurt caused by my family.
"Don't let them see you cry."
After months of refusing, I finally agree to move to America, where my fiancé's waiting for me. Just like my mother, an arranged marriage lies in my near future. Just like my mother, I'm probably going to be shoved aside in a couple of years after providing the Cutler family with an heir.
Being a Korean girl from a culture that's very different from the west, it makes me stand out like a sore thumb. There's nothing I can do but to accept the fate arranged by my father and his mistress. My marriage to Lake Cutler will be a business deal and nothing else.
My plan is simple. Make him hate me enough to break off the engagement so I can return to Korea. But I didn't account for those caring brown eyes. What started as a mission to save myself from an unhappy arranged marriage soon turns into a battle to not lose my heart.
I dare him to walk away, but instead, he shows me any bridge can be crossed.

*** 3.5 stars *** LAKE, WHY YOU HAVE TO BE SO PERFECT?? Why you have to increase the expectations for my future boyfriend/husband? Why you made me crave a gentle and patient man instead of the unforgiving alpha I preferred? Why Lake?? Why??
The best parts of the book : 1. LAKE♥️ 2 . His bond with his friends♥️
I swooned over the friendship they share, kindness they showered on each other and the way they had each other's back!!
It was a sweet romance read., however I expected more from Lake’s story. I enjoyed the relationship between the three boys, as well the one of their girlfriends.
Cheesey and a bit dramatic in some parts, but I ended up loving this more than the first two books.
Lake (22) has been such a good guy even from the first book, and that only shows more in his own story. I like him and his relationship with Lee (18) and how much he showed his respect for her and her culture. I liked this even more because of the Korean aspect; I'm into K-dramas atm, hence my appreciation for it.
I didn't mind the slowburn because, knowing Lee's background, it was kind of expected. I respected Lake even more because he waited until their wedding night and respected her beliefs and boundaries. He's truly such a rare gem. 🥹
I liked that there's more closure in this book, and although there are sad parts in the story, overall it still has a happy ending.
Book info: - College romance - Arranged marriage - Death on page (side characters) - Physical assault - Interracial couple (American x Korean) - No cheating, OPD, breakup - V h, no info on H - HEA
This book had me all over the place with my emotions, first I'm laughing, then I'm crying, then I'm laughing so hard I'm crying, lets just say I was a mess. I have really been enjoying this series and have come to care about the characters so much so that I was ecstatic when I saw that the series wasn't ending with Lake's story and we were going to get Julian's story and hopefully Preston's story as well. Was I doing the Happy Dance? You bet your ass I was!
Lake is the "father" of the group, he is the one that is most grounded and sensible but there were times in this book where he let his emotions get the best of him and that really warmed my heart to see. Park Lee-Ann was an interesting character that brought another dimension to the group of friends, not only with her culture but with her insecurities and sweet demeanor. Don't get me wrong Kingsley and Layla are sweet but they are more on the spunky, I don't take crap from anyone, side.
Falcon, Mason, and Lake have come a long way together and as they prepare for their life after college it's heartwarming to see that although they are heading in different directions they will still be as close as ever. I have mentioned in my reviews of the first two books that there were a few characters that really, really were hateful and I hate to say it but justice has been served in this book and it may surprise you in the way it was done.
Falcon was the first book by Michelle Heard that I have read, and now that I have read all three books that have been currently released in this series I am going to check out her other series The Enemies to Lovers Series, because some of those characters made an appearance in this book and they had me rolling!!!
Remember Lake is the Third book in this series and it needs to be read in order because of the way the story is told each book ends with a little cliffhanger that brings us into the next book and there is a running story through all three books.
Happy Reading!!!

This was the shortest book of all 3 in the series. It felt like it was over in a blink. After binge reading all 3 books, by now I knew what to expect and how things will turn out. So it was more like a easy read, where you don't have to think or concentrate too much. It was sweat, but that's all. Maybe books by this author just wasn't my cup of tea, but I still enjoyed myself enough and I'm not sorry I've read it. 2.5 stars
I love this series and Michelle really brought her A game in this book. I absolutely loved it. It had all the feels and emotions in it and I could not put it down once I started freading it. I started reading it late at night and finished early the next morning because I had to see what was going to happen to Lake and Lee.
Lake and Lee have an arranged marriage and Lee is from Korea and does not want to go to America to marry Lake Cutler but her father has other plans and when she gets to America and sees Lake she has a change of heart because his eyes say it all that he is not an arsehole but a loving caring guy that she can grow to love.
“You’re like a lotus flower. Pure and patient. You have love and compassion for all things.”
First of all you need to know I LOVE the Trinity Academy Series. And I totally adore Falcon, Mason and Lake as individuals as well as their friendship. But,… yeah sometimes there’s a but…, Lake’s book was by far the weakest one to me. The story didn’t get to me like I thought it would. It was not as interesting or thrilling as the other ones. And it was the first time in this series that I wished this book was longer, that there was a deep dive on certain parts I personally think would have improved the story.
”I’ve only really known him a week, and in the dark night of my soul, he’s become my lighthouse.”
It was great to see finally more of Lake, his caring character and his big heart. Lake is a fascinating character and perfect for Lee. I think none of the other boys could have fallen for Lee like Lake did.
Lee is such a lovely heroine who dealt very well with the fate life handed her. She was created true to the Korean nature (at least as far as I can assess).
I can totally see why Lake and Lee fell for each other and that they were made for each other. However, I personally think Lee’s Korean upbringing would have been a bigger obstacle in this lovestory. She adapted to the western lifestyle way too quickly for my liking
“I’ll love you so much in this life, the deities will have no choice but to give you back to me in the next life.”
Lake, the third book in the Trinity Academy series is a sweet addition in the trilogy and completes it perfectly.
Lake is book Three in the Trinity Academy Series. This is the story of Lake and Lee. I have read the previous books, "Falcon" and "Mason" which do have a underlining story that carried over into this book, so you may want to read the previous book to fully enjoy this one. Lee is Korean who has seen how her parents arranged married worked...not to the good. So when her father makes an arrange marriage for her in America which she plans on making sure that the man will not go through. So her plan is to make a bad experience that will want to make Lake end this engagement, but she doesn't count on the attraction she is having for him. Lake was a very different type of man in the way of feelings I thought than some of the other male leads which showed his caring side more. This book does end the underlining story so we get to that happy ending for all in this book.
What a perfect and addictive series. I loved the friendship dynamic between these three guys and as the books interlinked also the relationships between the girls.
When I started reading Trinity academy I was given the impression, these were three guys who ruled the school, guys who weren't to be messed with, guys with power and knew they were untouchable and I was all kinds of excited for this kind of angsty college series with obviously romance along the way.
Trinity Academy wasn't at all what I thought, I got to see the guys behind the persona people had built up of them and when it moved into Mason's story it became so much more and I was taken by surprise in this turn. Then we get to lakes story was all kinds of swoon.
Lake has been expecting an arranged marriage for a few years, on behalf of a merger with his company, which is all part of a huge business deal. Lake is the easy-going one of the three guys, he's the one the girls mess around with and chat with, he's either one of the guys or one of the girls, he's such an easy-going laid back guy, so it's no surprise he's the one that sacrificed himself out of the three of them to take one for the team and also sacrifice himself.
Lee is a Korean girl who has been told by her father whom she has never met because he lives with his mistress that she must marry lake or he will make her mother suffer financially, basically ruin her and Lee loves her mother dearly. The two of them have shared a tiny room, they are so poor but are so close that you are given the impression only love some days kept their hearts warm, happy and content. For Lee and her mother it has always been a struggle but Lee is willing to do anything even sacrifice herself for her mother.
I loved Lee, the blurb gives the wrong impression of her, she is sweet from day one when she first meets lake? Lee is the kind of girl who you just want to find happiness and her prince charming, she deserved a better father, a better upbringing, a better life and she so deserved to find a guy like Lake.
I was really looking forward to this story and it did not disappoint. It's always bittersweet reading the last book in a series and I still want more and didn't want to let go of these characters including side characters who had piqued my interest. Recommended College romance series. Told in first person dual pov and each book leads to a hea. This is an interconnected series so I would recommend starting with the first book Falcon.
“ I was absolutely captivated by Lake, it is such a beautiful, romance that'll make you believe in fate...
I laughed, I swooned, I cried, I loved every single moment of this book, Flawless character development, Michelle wrote a brilliant love story that is Absolutely beautiful, meaningful and touching.....
“Absolutely brilliant deliverance, This is my top favorite of the series!! Lake owned me... Undeniably one of my top reads of this year!
Lake and Lee are one of those couples you will never forget!
5 LAKE AND LEE STARS!! I am sad the trilogy is over....these three guys are perfect.....I loved them all. Lake and Lee's story was so sweet and tender with all the feels. This story was perfect and closed up the loose ends in this series that were hanging around. You definitely need to read these three books in order....I highly recommend this trilogy.
Lake’s story has been the one I anticipated the most from this series. It was a lot different than I expected because Lake was a lot different than I expected. The story of Lake and Lee was sweet and touching and nothing like the first two books that were angsty and full of heat.
An emotional ride and I’m sad it’s over. I’m going to miss these boys
❥ 𝑳𝒆𝒆 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ She‘s an admirable woman and I adored her. She knows how to pick her battles, is intelligent and so fucking nice.
❥ 𝑳𝒂𝒌𝒆 ࣪⋆✮ This man omg. He is such a sweetheart and does everything for Lee. He is kind, patient and still an alpha male.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 I really liked this story. It was entertaining, heart warming and portrayed the characters and their differences well. Lake is such a golden retriever male character and I loved the way he treats Lee. Both of them are emotionally intelligent and treat each other with respect and know how to handle each other. I enjoyed their dynamic and they may be my favorite couple. Lee has no easy life and it was wonderful to read how she opened up to Lake. Both of them deserve each other, they’re a great couple. All in all this was such a sweet book and I read it in one sitting.
I absolutely had a BLAST with this book and Lake is my favorite book of the series...hands down. While I have had fun with the others, this one was a story I seemed to connect with on a deeper level with. And what is the most hilarious about it is the fact that I was the most nervous about this one. In the blurb it hints at the heroine having this plan to do things to make the hero hate her so she doesn't have to marry him but the moment she meets him she knows that he is her only hope for happiness and true freedom from her situation and what freedom she finds with Lake and its so precious and beautiful. I love how in these books the spice is low key and not as focused. Its very refreshing, its there but its not heavy in the story which is what I really appreciate about Michelle Heard.
I found their romance to be so endearing and how he courts her so sweetly just melted my heart!
I tired with Lake’s book I really did, but the fact that it was an arranged marriage, Lake was patient and kind and it was a little slow for me, it’s just not in my personal taste.
Lake as well know has been arranged to marry a business Associate’s daughter. We find out that Lee is from South Korea which adds an interesting element to the book. The author was respectful in that regard.
I loved seeing the relationship with all of the friends as well as catching up with Falcon, Mason and their girlfriends. The men are so cute but I did find the crying of the guys to be a little bit cringy. I just felt that the men constantly cried in this book.
I honestly just wanted more Mason/Kingsley too. They’re my favorite couple which is no surprise there as enemies to lovers is my favorite trope.
The romance wasn’t for me here like I said, it was just too sweet for me with not enough internal relationship conflict. The primary conflict was with her own family.
4.5 Stars Lake Cutler is one of the shareholders of CRC Holdings along with his best friend Falcon Reyes and Mason Chargill. Each of the friends made a deal with CRC and Lake agreed to enter into an arranged marriage with Lee-Ann Park in order to secure a deal with a company from Korea run by her father, Chairman Park. Lee-Ann Park never knew who her father was growing up and now she is being forced to move to a new country and enter into a marriage with someone she doesn’t even know in order to secure a business deal. Her plan is to make Lake realize what a bad match they are so she can return home to her mom. After meeting Lee, Lake realizes that everything is not adding up and there is more to the story than he has received. Slowly Lee begins to open up to Lake and the two realize they have a connection and Lake tries to make Lee as comfortable as he can with her situation. When Lee realizes how far Lake will go to make her happy is she willing to open up her heart to him and new opportunities? This is another awesome book in the series and I don’t want it to end!! I think I fell in love with Lake in the first book as he was definitely the guy who was the most aware of what was going on with everyone and always there for the other guys and their girls. He was willing to do what he could to help CRC Holdings and that included marrying someone he didn’t know. My heart truly broke for Lee and how she grew up with her mom yet at the same time her dedication to her mom felt like she wasn’t missing anything in her life. I was so mad when her dad showed up and everything changed for her. I knew why Lee didn’t want a relationship with Lake and why she wanted to just return to her mom. I liked when Lee began to open up to Lake and he really understood what was going on. I loved how much Layla and Kingsley helped Lee with adjusting to her new home. I loved the continuation of the story involving Serena and Clare in this book! I was so happy with what Lake and CRC Holdings did for Lee and how they put “family” first! I also liked that they got involved with Indie Ink Publishing and we got a visit from some of our favorite past characters! The end was awesome and I loved the fact that although all the guys have found their future paths they are all still connected. I really hope we get more though as I would love a book on Preston! - By Rebecca
Lake was just EPIC! I couldn't get enough of the whole Trinity Academy crew, and totally milked the last half of this book just to make it last. Lake and Lee were just amazing from beginning to end. Michelle totally broke my heart since the prologue and slowly put me back together with each page. I can not get over this book and I'm glad I have my own Kingsley stash to get through this book hangover.
"Seeing the real Park Lee-ann in her element will be imprinted on my heart and in my memory forever." -Lake
And she will be in mine too. Lee is one badass that shines so much through her innocence yet with so much strength. And the patience and kindness shines so much through Lake, it's just too adorable.
"I’ve only really known him a week, and in the dark night of my soul, he’s become my lighthouse." -Lee
I love how this author wrapped up the series in Lake's book. We also get some surprise cameos from Michelle's Enemies to Lovers series that just landed the cherry on top of this awesomeness sundae. This is one of the reasons Michelle Heard is one of my automatic 1Click authors. Anything she writes is pure gold, and this series is no different. Cant wait to see what's coming next!
Lake (Trinity Academy Series #3) by Michelle Heard
***5 stars***
Say it ain't so...This can't be the end...can it? This series and these characters are life! They took a piece of my heart and I give it to them with open arms.
Lake and Lee have a once in a lifetime kind of love. Innocent, sweet, and unscathed. Lake is the kind of man every woman hopes to have in their lives. He's in a league all his own, and Lee is one lucky girl to have wrangled him in.
My heart bled for Lee and the non existent relationship she had with her father, if you can even call him that. In my eyes, he's undeserving of a child's love. He's cold, heartless, and only cares about business and what he can obtain from it.
There's a few extra awesome surprises in this story, and if you're a Michelle Heard fan, you'll be over the moon!
This is a series of truly special moments and people. Love, friendship, and family bonds have never shone so brightly and it was beyond my expectations.
This book but also this series was so great. I'm obsessed with Michelles writing, she never fails to write an amazing story.
Lake is the third and final book in the Trinity Academy series and what a finale it was. Falcon and Mason must be read before jumping into this book to fully enjoy and understand the interconnected storyline.
Lake and Lee gave me so many damn feels, their love was so beautiful and sweet and I was so giddy throughout the whole book watching their relationship grow. I loved every minute of it.
It had me swooning and laughing out loud but also moments of anger and heartbreak with what these characters go through.
The friendship and love this group have for each other is truly amazing, they all stole a piece of my heart and I will never get over them. I cannot was to read Julians story and get more from these wonderful people.
ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
Ahhhhh I'm glad to hear it's not over, and we'll still see more of this group in Julian's book.
This is really a soft trilogy and lovely to read. It sure was worth the read and I couldn't stop for a second!
The story of Lake and Lee had everything to go wrong... after all, who still believes in arranged marriage and on top of totally different cultures?
But it's impossible not to love Lake! As much as I fell in love with this trio of inseparable friends, there's no doubt that Lake is the glue that holds everything perfectly in place!
I would love to have the book in audiobook just to hear his laugh!
His relationship with Lee develops naturally and in a sense of protection and respect for each other that just prove us what kinda of man Lake is. A protector and an angel.
For sure Michelle Heard will be on my permanent reading lists! ❤️
Lake and Lee's story was do unexpected and touched me in ways I never imagined. I adore Lee she brings such a feeling of peace and clarity to Lake's life. Michelle brought them to life so effectively and wrote their once in a lifetime love story. Lee was such a beautiful soul both inside and out. Lake my sweet boy man was everything I wanted him to be. Strong and supportive, tender and patient. The thing I loved so much about this series is the unwavering bond between all the boy. Their obvious love for each other was a tangible force in each book. I've loved every story and hopefully this won't be the last we see of them.
Pretty much the same as the first two books. I enjoy the characters, the group of friends and the dynamics so much. As well as the relationship between the two main characters. The story just lacks depth and has so much more potential. Felt rushed in some places as well.
Once again, after the slight cliff-hanger which was left in Mason, I started Lake’s book ASAP. Lake is betrothed to Lee-ann, the daughter of a Korean investor in the family business, and to ensure their business deal is ironclad, he must marry her. Lake is fairly reluctant to be the one who must marry, but after speaking to Lee-ann through video chat and text, he feels like he knows her well enough to try. But that all changes when Lee-ann lands in the US and is completely different to the woman he spoke with on the phone.
Lee-ann, blackmailed by a father she barely knows after he threatens her mother, arrives in America knowing she must marry a stranger. She has been taught to be an obedient wife and to please her husband. When she meets Lake, at first she’s scared and decides to take the first opportunity she can to escape back to her mother in South Korea. Except, the more time she spends with him and the group, she realises he’s a kind and caring man, so different from her father and she is shocked by his kindness. She starts to fall for him as they get to know each other and decided to go through with the wedding, after they fall for one another. The boys must work to find an alternate investor to escape the control of Lee-ann’s father but when tragedy strikes, will Lake and Lee be able to make it as a couple, and marry for love not business?
Lake throughout the first two books was such a sweetheart and the most approachable of the three boys. His personality, humour and just general being make him just so likable and did not change during this book. His protectiveness increased tenfold with Lee-ann and he always made sure she was comfortable, adopting Korean traditions and the culture to make her feel more at home. He truly cared for her from the beginning and was always going to stand by her side and protect her. Even down to learning some Korean and making sure she was eating food she liked, he was so caring. Watching Lee come out of her shell was incredible, she became her true self when she was around Lake and they balanced each other perfectly. My heart ached for her for the way she was treated and what she went through, I wanted to give her a hug. The true romantic moments between these two were beautiful and showed even though they didn’t start conventionally, they were meant to be.
Once again, the boy’s friendship was one of my favourite things about this book but seeing them go from college students into the real world was such an evolution. They started thinking as businessmen and knowing that there would be times they would have to put their girls first, but promising to always have that bond was heart-warming. These boys have turned into men and are ready for their futures with their women.
Lake and Lee-ann’s story was a proper slow burn romance, with drama, twists and turns and the best conclusion to the interconnecting plots from the previous two books. I was so impressed with how they solved the problem and still got the HEA they wanted, the ending was perfect.
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
I did something I never do when I learned Lake had made a safe landing on my Kindle. I ditched my current read mid-way to finally get some answers and closure. I was excited to see the laughable always dependable always hungry Lake get his HEA.
Lake always knew his place in the family business. Falcon would go on to open his own business while Mason would run the company and Lake would agree to an arranged marriage to Park Lee Ann to secure a sound investment for the company. Little did Lake know that Lee would rock his world. He fell for her through a series of texts and video calls and when they finally meet her in real life, he sees this innocent face staring at him, and he vows he will protect her at all cost. Even from the man who calls himself her father and his wicked witch of a mistress. He sets out to woo Lee and take things are her pace but when tragedy strikes, and he finds out her fathers true nature he knows he has to make her his wife sooner than later to save her.
Park Lee Ann lived a very simple life in her village. She didn’t have the best of everything and often worked many jobs to provide for her and her mother. It’s not until her mom makes her rush home does she learn her father, the man she never really met, has arranged a marriage for her and if she doesn’t accept her mother will suffer for it. Lee is on foreign soil and trying to find her place trading her customs for more Western customs becomes quiet a challenge. When her very foundation is rocked to its core she must make decisions that will change her. She turns to Lake and realizes he isn’t a bad man. He makes her feel safe and is willing to learn all about her and make her happy. She falls and she falls hard for Lake and his friends.
I love Lake he is just it for me. He is such a kind gentle soul who finds so much good in this crazy world. He accepted his fate and didn’t throw a fit the whole time. He embraced Lee and I was all swoony over it. I mean I got a tooth ache from how sweet Lake is and I loved it. Yet let’s not forget how strong and brilliant Lee is. The girl just went ok this is something I must do and it’s against custom to throw a fit. That girl should have thrown customs out the window a long time ago with how they treated her. The love between these two made me smile and go wow ok true love does exist. We should all have a person who will protect us till the end and be the light in the dark. I know I have someone like that. We also get to see some familiar faces in this story as well and It just made this story that much sweeter. As Lake and Lee say “In this life, the next, and thereafter” I can’t wait to see where we go next.
Lake is the third book in the Trinity Academy by author Michelle Heard and it's written in dual POV.
Lake is a little different than the first two books, because, Lake, as a character and as a man is different than MasonandFalcon. If the first two books were bully romance, this one, certainly isn't a bully romance. Lake's story is a little different than Falcons and Mason's story because he couldn't choose his own bride, he was forced into marriage, for businesses, he was expected to marry some girl he never saw or even knew.
Lee-ann was the mystery girl, and she was perfect for Lake. They were both very alike, sweet, caring and beautiful inside-out. They were perfect for each other.
So if you are looking for a sweet and easy read this book is perfect for you, but please keep in mind that you have to read the first two books first, FalconandMason.
Lake was a fitting and epic conclusion to the Trinity Academy series by Michelle Heard. This story brought together all the floating puzzle pieces and gave us a solid ending. The friendship between Mason, Falcon and Lake is one of the most emotional ones I have ever read. It gave me tears and goosebumps straightaway.
Though this story is about Lake and her Asian fiance Lee, a lot of the story was about how these guys have each other's back and how they consolidated their future as partners. I won't lie - I am really sad to let them go. They have come so far as friends and human beings. Along with the love of their lives. Lake is the sweetest and kindest guy among them and I absolutely loved how he protected and cherished Lee. She belongs to a different culture and her neglecting father has turned her life into hell. But Lee filled Lake's heart. The swoony emotions were almost too much. While the other couples are sexy, fiery and explosive, Lake and Lee will give you that sweet, dreamy, warm and fuzzy vibes. They are perfect for each other. And when the rough and confident part of Lake came out when he was trying to protect his friends and love, that was awesome!
Michelle Heard's writing was amazing as always. She put great twists and turns in Lake so that you cannot stop reading! Lake was a swoonworthy and emotional story of deep love and precious friendship.
This just went too quickly for me... I dont know if I can choose a favourite. I thought that Falcon, would be it and then Mason came and now it's Lake. Out of all three these guys, Lake is the one that holds everyone togother.
Michelle Heard definitely had me guessing from the first book till the last one. I didn't know what was going to happen. You think you knew, but then something else happens. Lake and Lee was just too sweet and they were definitely a awesome match. Lake you would think is a soft hearted person (which you got in the first two books) but in this book his protective instincts came out and he definitely stood up to Lee's dad and made himself heard.
Lee was just to much. She was sweet, beautiful, hard working and so down to earth. Lake didn't have a choice but to fall in love with her. Strong spirited but also loyal and she definitely deserved someone like Lake to look after her.
From the beginning of this series, you had so many emotions going through. You heart was broken and you were sad and then you were happy as each one of these characters found themselves and who they were and what they stood for. Love and Loyalty and Family. I need more... I can't wait for Julian's story its going to Awesome...
Again, just like the previous books, there are good bones. I love the characters but there is development that lacks for me. I will say that this is my least favorite book and I was so excited to read Lake’s story. My problem lies with the fact that it felt like Lee couldn’t make her own decisions. At the very beginning when everyone compiles things to make it easier for Lee to feel welcome that is sweet but then Lake and the guys buying a bunch of clothes for her? I wasn’t too keen on that because it was imposed on her.
I also struggled with the stereotype that Asian women are docile and sweet. Lee, aside from her random spurts of controlled violence which didn’t make sense to me, is very demure. I also hated that the word “exotic” was used as a description. What was very confusing is that the description of this book led me to believe that she would really make it difficult for Lake to want to move forward with the arrange marriage. I legitimately didn’t feel any of that while reading her side.
I think that the synopsis of the books really throw me off because I am expecting one thing and it is a plot point for 2.5 seconds before it is pretty much forgotten.
