This was $1 at Target. Score!

The animals are cartoonish and drawn against brightly colored, simple backgrounds that my baby digs. She hasn't even figured out the flaps yet and still gasps with delight every time we turn the page. Freaking adorable.

It was a dollar very well spent, I'd say.

We read the book "Run tree run" by Kelly Alsop (not listed on Goodreads). This is a book about deforestation and the importance of having trees around.

Devin likes this book, its very simple. There's just two very short sentences about the animal (with picture clues) that he can look at before he lifts the flap to find out which forest friend is hiding there. The only disappointing thing about the book, is that all the forest friends are of the mammalian variety.

This is a great book because the pages unfold to reveal animals that live in the forest. It's very interactive for children and another way to discuss what types of animals call the forest their home.
