Almeida traduziu a Bíblia das línguas originais para o português em menos de um ano quando contava com 16 anos de idade e até hoje é o mais importante tradutor da Bíblia para a língua portuguesa.

Entre Outubro de 2006 e Março de 2007, o programa de televisão da RTP1, Os Grandes Portugueses, realizou uma votação popular para escolher O Grande Português. Aquela votação, indicou João Ferreira de Almeida como o 19º personagem mais importante na história de Portugal.

The advantage of this Bible edition, is that it has bigger typo, so that even without glasses one can perfectly read without strainning ones eyes.
I am not going to comment on the reading itself, since so many scholars would do it much better than me. Let us just say that the Bible stands, to this day, as the most adventurous story ever told, with so many characters (including those that have very little sacred in them) and the figure of Christ, surpassing all others as He emerges to a new Kingdom of Love.
