WOW - Another Super Entry in the Allure of the Vixen series!
Every book from C.C. Morian is a step up from her previous stories, with deeper characters, intriguing circumstances, hot sex and thoughtful questions for inquisitive minds.
This series is centered around Joanne, a fiercely independent woman who has explored and substantially determined what she wants in life, particularly in the spheres of sexuality, sensuality and love.
The Bull is from Nash’s viewpoint. Rebecca meets Nash by happenstance. Nash and Rebecca are at two ends of the spectrum. Nash is bored because he can booty call any number of beautiful women and Rebecca is married to a man she loves who doesn’t have a clue about his wife, her sexuality and needs. Both suffer from being in a rut – Nash just has a lot more sex.
At one point Nash, the biker/bad boy says to Rebecca:
“Your husband isn’t giving you what you need. Worse, you feel that because he is your husband, he should realize he isn’t giving you what you need, and that bothers you more than just not getting it.”
With some 50% of marriages ending in failure, and many more unhappy marriages, how many partnerships does Nash’s quote apply to in both sexual and non-sexual matters?
At another point Rebecca attempts to change things at home saying:
“ ... you were right about me being unhappy, wanting more. So I hinted around with … my husband. He either didn’t get what I meant or ... maybe I wasn’t being clear enough. ... I finally—shifted the dynamic. ... It was an utter disaster. ...”
“He wouldn’t do it?”
“Worse. He did, and it was just so—wrong.
How many partners have tried to improve their relationships, only to be rebuffed or the partner not having any idea what it was all about; the failed effort resulting in greater dissatisfaction leading to resentment?
Nash has a plan for solving Rebecca's problem. The question is, is it the right solution for Rebecca? Fortunately, Joanne (the lynchpin of the series) is Rebecca’s friend and has much deeper insight into Rebecca’s character. In my view, Nash’s relationships helps lay the foundation for Joanne’s happy marriage to Phillip in The Husband.
Joanne and Nash become involved in what to me is a psychological thriller. The banter between them is exceptionally well written and, like all banter, leaps forward with remarkable pace. This is a book to read and savour, and consider the multiple implications of what is said and not said. If you skim it, so much of the subtle nuances, mental limberness and innuendo would be lost.
The Bull is the fourth book published in this series. Chronologically it fits between The Vixen and The Husband and before The Lover, and the hopefully soon to be released The Wife. Each book is a standalone from different perspectives, with the books only “connecting” at certain points.
This is erotica at the highest level. It’s for the thinking person, interested in the multi-faceted issues of relationships, sexuality, personalities, love, lust, infatuation, imagination and the best and worst of intimate human interaction.
