How old were you when you committed your first crime?
Or have you ever?
I was only thirteen.
The smell of moonshine still drifted in the air as Johnny and I turned around to watch the house and the man inside burn.
A noise from behind causes us to look back, revealing a girl with hot pink socks, black boots, and wide, curious eyes.
She wasn't supposed to be there. She wasn't supposed to witness what me and Johnny did that day.
The truth is, I fell for Bexley Walker the moment she promised she'd never tell.
But our time together was short-lived for I am who I've always been. A man on the wrong side of the law. I thought I could change for her, but we can't outrun the truth that lies within us.
I am my father's son. Born to be a criminal. Now, because of me, we're both in danger. Held against our will. Tied and locked in a room together, we are forced to relive the love we once shared.
USA Today Bestselling Author Paige P. Horne lives in the small town of Gray Georgia with her husband. The two enjoy traveling every little chance they get (before Covid) and binge-watching their favorite shows. (Got any recommendations?)
When she isn't creating new characters for her readers to fall in love with, you can find her back porch swinging (not in the Georgia summer though) engrossed in a good book.
Readers have described her stories as captivating and heartbreakingly beautiful.
Paige pens emotional novels about soulmates and broken love.
Her titles include: Close To Falling, Chasing Fireflies, Chasing Ellie, and If I'd Known (based on true events) A four-book Romantic Suspense Series: The Give Me Series and The Bones Trilogy (A Mafia Romance)
Wow! Genesis has it all... Sex, angst, alpha males, a strong female lead and a terrific plot. I was completely captivated the whole way through. One thing I love about Horne's work is the details in her writing. She has a way of creating these imaginary worlds that just suck you right in. You can picture everything so clearly, it's like you're living the book. It's absolutely brilliant!
Genesis starts out in present time with Bones and Bexley tied up and held captive by an unknown assailant. This harrowing situation forces them to relive the memories of the past. Through these flashbacks we are given glimpses of how the two met, and the love and life they once shared. Their story was so real, so raw and so consuming, it absolutely blew my mind.
I don't know what more I can say. I truly fell in love with this book. The unique storyline. The pacing. The writing. The dynamic between the characters. The dialogue. The steamy scenes. With every single little thing, I was completely and utterly blown away. And that cliffy will definitely leave you yearning for more. 5 stars for Bones, Bexley and Genesis!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this spin off from the Give Me series. I knew I needed to read it because I love Paige P. Horne’s writing but I wasn’t really excited about reading what I basically thought of as a gangster book. But this book really surprised me! I loved it! We know Bones from the Give Me series but in this book we meet Danny. That’s Bones from a boy and who he is to the girl next door, Bexley. I liked how this book went back and forth and gave us Danny’s history before he was Bones. We meet Bexley who is a strong, badass female character who can stand up to Danny’s strong male character. She’s not there to let him walk all over her, which is always great to read! Ms. Horne had me thinking one thing this whole book and then towards the end my thinking all shifted but she left us hanging! She knows what she’s doing when she writes these books. That’s what makes her a great writer. She knows where the reader’s mind is going and just when she has us thinking one thing she twists it all around. This is a definite cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the second book in the series!
WoW!!! What a great beginning to this trilogy. This author has done a fantastic job building this story. Danny and Bexley definitely have history. This story spans over many years giving us present and then back in years to give us the full history of what these two have been through that brought us to the current pickle they are in. Although leaving us with one heck of a cliffy, its ok. This book gave us enough insight as to what kind of a ride we are in for!! 4.5 Stars
This book was my first by Paige P.Horne and it was highly impressive! It starts off in the present time with Bones/Danny and Bexley tied to chairs in an unknown location with an unknown assailant. We get flashbacks of Danny and Bexley’s relationship and at first it was innocent enough but Danny was meant to be just like his father and through the years Danny and his best friend Johnny get caught up in a mobster style life. Bexley and Danny love each other something fierce but Bexley doesn’t truly consider what she’s gotten herself into with Danny. But during present time, Bexley is married to another man although we are unsure of who he is. I have my theories but I won’t go quite into that lol. As their captivity rolls over past a month, still unsure of who their assailant is, no rescue in sight, and their bodies and minds feeling the toll that lack of nutrition and movement will do on the body, will they make it out alive? And what were they doing together when they got kidnapped in the first place? And what exactly was the catalyst that tore them apart? So many questions I need answers to!!
This book has a cliffhanger, so if you don’t like those and prefer to wait until the trilogy is completely out to binge read then here’s your warning. I know it’ll drive me crazy waiting for the next book lol! I seriously loved this book and Paige P. Horne seriously knows how to build a story! I was hooked from the beginning and I could hardly put it down! I will be back to read more by this author! She’s definitely a go to author for me now!
Danny lived in a poor Irish neighborhood in Jersey. He wanted to be part of the crime family. Crime was in his blood. Overall: The story alternates between 1998, 2003 and the present. The story is set in a place called Postings, Jersey. It’s a poor neighborhood with danger lurking in every corner. There are three Irish brothers. The two main characters are Bexley and Danny. Johnny is a character that is referenced as Danny’s friend. Bexley is the next door neighbor. The delivery of this story didn’t work for me. The back and forth didn’t allow for smooth transitions. It was choppy. I couldn’t find a smooth rhythm. Setting the framework for this story was confusing. In certain aspects there’s too many details while in others not enough. I read a few other books by Paige that were amazing. I’m not ready to call this writing amazing. It doesn’t read like If I’d Known. Might be because that one was emotionally driven while this one is criminally driven. Wait a minute I thought Danny and Johnny were thirteen when they burned the house back in 1998. In 2003, they are asked how old are they answering thirteen. That means they were eight years old when they lit that house on fire. I’m confused did they start the fire in 1998 or 2003? The previous chapters were labeled 1998 indicating the fire happened then. I’m currently reading a chapter labeled 2003 and it’s talking about Johnny after the fire. I returned book for refund. I can’t get into this book it’s not working for me.
Holy Wow! What a perfect way to introduce us to all that is Bones and what comes along with him. Ever since I read the Give Me series I have been chomping at the bit to learn more about this dark horse and where he came from. Just the few glimpses I received had me reeling, so I was beside myself with glee when it finally arrived. And what an entrance it was! We learn through flashbacks how Danny and Bex came to be. We learn that no matter how well you can hide it behind flowers and the innocence of love, the darkest parts will always seek light. In Danny's world, it's the light that makes you most vulnerable and you can only keep the two separate for a matter of time. And that is all we are riding on with this first installment. Time. My only real complaint would be that the clues as to what, or who, could be behind their disappearance, came after we found out. Which I understand keeps the suspense rampant, but I didn't question any character throughout the book. I kinda wanted a little of that. Genesis definitely packs a ton of heat and understanding, but I think Insurgent is going to pack all the carnage. I also appreciate the way this cliffhanger ending was delivered. Just enough information to let me know where the story is possibly heading in the future. I can not wait to see where PPH will take us with this journey. Even looks to be an added perspective which makes it even more exciting.
If I could describe the thought of reading this book with a gif it would be the one where Chris Pratt is rubbing his hands with glee. Because let’s face it, when it comes to the stories Paige P Horne writes, I’m a god damn fan!
Genesis is a spin off from Horne’s Give Ne series. We meet Danny “Bones” O’Brian when he visits Bryce Grant’s nightclub and the two become done what acquainted over the four book series - which if you haven’t read I highly recommend it, they’re some of the best books I’ve read! Anyhowdyho we meet him and now we get his story. And what a freakin’ story it is. Oh the angst! Oh the heartache! Oh how much I love a ruthless cold but so so sweet man they call Bones!!
There’s nothing I can tell you about the plot without giving things away but I will say this, we meet Danny again after he’s been kidnapped with Bexley. Their time spent being captives is them reminiscing about their teenage years and how they ended up where they currently are. AND IT IS BEAUTIFULLY HEARTBREAKING.
The End. Because sometimes you don’t need to drivel in about plot and characters you love because this is Paige P Horne we’re talking about here so of course you’re going to love every single character and of course the plot is gonna leave you with heart palpitations and wanting more. Right I need to go and read the next one before work tomorrow 😬

Wow! Talk about a ride Danny and Bexley's story was flawlessly written and will take you on a journey as they're held hostage and we learn how they met and their relationship developed. Amazing read that leaves off on a cliffhanger.
I have been waiting to read Bone's book and couldn't wait to learn all about what makes him tick. I loved how seamlessly Paige bought us back and forth between the present day and the past. I loved the anticipation of learning what happened between Danny, aka Bones and Bexley, what brought them together and what tore them apart. I don't want to share any details because there are twists and turns in this story, and I don't want to give anything away. There is still so much more to learn and I cannot wait for the next book. I love the alternate POV's and storyline plot. It's not necessary to have read the Give Me series to follow this story, but I highly recommend it. The characters are that good.
Paige P. Horne takes you on a hell of an unapologetic ride with Genesis. This story is intriguingly captivating, but it’s a shock to your heart and will seize your mind. Danny is complicated and tough but he has such a soft spot when it comes to Bex. These two just have this pull and they bring each other out of the darkness and trap each other there at the same time. You can’t help but root for them even though you know danger and heartache will follow. Everyone should read this book for the brothers, the necklace, the bracelet and the “love“ alone. Genesis had me hooked from the first secret and consumed me until the last page!
Where to start? This book left me with a hangover I can't explain. Danny Is the bad boy you can't help to fall in love with. He's tough, mean but when he loves, he LOVES.
He comes from a loving family but he learned about the bad side of life in the hard way. He has two brothers and a best friend, and from a young age he works on the wrong side of the tracks. He didn't count on falling in love.
Bexley is a tough girl, she's smart, funny and she can't help to love Danny even though she knows he is not good for her.
This book takes us back and forth in time and it ends on a slight cliffy. I can't wait for book two. This book is really good ♥️.
This is the 1st in a trilogy, and what a mind-blowing beginning this is! I love this gifted authors’ attention to detain and the dynamics she gives her characters and plots when she pens a masterpiece. This story starts in the present and there are flashbacks into the past where Bones was called Danny and how he and Bex met. No spoilers: this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written tale which is filled with angst, and is a raw, gritty, and all-consuming read which had me totally captivated throughout this riveting tale. I cannot wait for #2, and I highly recommend this authors’ work for all.
FINALLY! I have been wanting to know more about Bones since before I even knew Bones was going to get a chance to tell his own story. We first met Bones in the Give Me Love trilogy. From the moment this bad boy was introduced, I was very intrigued and wanted MORE! And I definitely got more.
Genesis starts way back before Bones was called Bones. Back when he went by his birth name, Danny O'Brien. The book switched back and forth between present and future. Filling in the holes and answering questions about how Danny and Bexley met, their relationship throughout the years, and how they got to where they are today.
THEN. The book just ended. I wanted to SCREAM! It was over and I have more questions. I need more answers. I am happy to wait to get them, though. I can already tell, Bones and Bexley's story is one I just want to keep reading.
I LOVE paige P Horne, her books are automatic one-clicks for me. I don't care what the books are about, I go in blind, I read her words and I ALWAYS love her words. I'm just counting down the days until I can get my hands on Insurgent (Bones, Book 2) I'm positive I will love it!
I was so excited to see that we were getting a spin-off rom the Give Me series! The first book in this series, did not disappoint! This story grabbed me from the very beginning and kept my attention as I read it all in one sitting.
We knew Bones, from the Give Me series but in this story, we meet him as Danny, a young boy. We also meet his next door neighbor, Bexley a spunky strong girl. They are both super strong characters, and through flashbacks we learn about how their relationship first came to be and how they got to where they are now.
I don't want to give anything away because this book will grab you and not let you go. I have so many questions that I need answers to! I can't wait get my hands on the next book and see what else this trilogy has in store!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I saw Paige Horne advertise her book on tick-tock. Said if you are into the show "Good Girls" (one of my favorites) then you would like this story. So, I thought I'd give it a try. She wasn't wrong, I loved it. I ordered a sample on my kindle and ended up immediately purchasing the book. It is well written and kept me guessing who the kidnapper was from start to finish. I did not like how the book ended mid-plot before the conclusion. However, it did have me running for the next book to find out what happens.
I took my time reading this book since I didn’t want the story to end. I loved the chemistry between Danny and Bexley. You could feel it as you read it. This story had a little of everything. I can’t wait to read the next books in this trilogy. I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review.
Love the Cover and the story. This is Danny and Bexley´s story. This is a perfect suspense love story. This book is told in past and present. We get to know how they met and how their relationship grew. Genesis is a page turner, can´t wait to read book #2.
This is was an entertaining intro to the trilogy and I'm eager for more!
I enjoyed getting the backstory of Bones and Bexley, as twisted and tragic as their young love was. This is my first book by Paige P. Horne and I'll be reading more for sure! She left this book wide open for the next (cliffhanger warning!) It was a steamy, at times slightly dark, and altogether suspenseful read--which is right up my alley.
The timeline moves back and forth and on occasion there was a flashback within a flashback. A fair amount of the sex scenes were during their teens, so that those two things threw me off, but I'm excited to finish the series and find out what happens.
Wow,this book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t put the book down. Paige knows how to write. Everything she writes is amazing. I can’t wait for the next book. If you need a book with suspense and angst then this is the book for you. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic!!!! I need more. I love the love story and Paige P Horne keeps throwing you tid bits of information that only makes you want to read faster!!!
I really appreciated the smooth flow and transition between the past and present in the story. Told in dual points of view you get the thoughts and feelings of Bexley and Danny, aka, Bones.
After having been introduced to Bones in the Give Me Love Series, I was intrigued by his enigmatic and mysterious persona. I was not disappointed in how Paige delves deeper into the characters and their lives in this first book in the series. I’m anxious for what’s to come after that cliffhanger ending!
Omg Paige P. Horne! Once I started Reading it I couldn’t put it down. It’s SO good. But now I’m in desperate need of Insurgent (Bones Book 2) ASAP! Pretty Pleaseeeeee?! 🔥🔥🔥
Genesis is book one in the Bones Trilogy. It had suspense, angst, violence and a love story. I loved Danny and Bexley. The chemistry and connection they had was sizzling. Can't wait for book two!
"She’s right. I don’t have to live the life I live, but there’s nothing else I’d rather do. Except maybe be with her."
The start to this series is SO good!
I can not wait to read the rest of this series! Danny. Got to love a bad boy. 😍 📚
"Danny is fire, mesmerizing and beautiful in all its colors, but he’s dangerous, for he can destroy everything you are in a matter of moments. He’s the fallen angel everyone is afraid of, yet how much fun is it when you listen to the man who rules the underworld?"
