The Havoc Boys #3

Mayhem At Prescott High

Rate this book
There’s one girl you don’t mess with at Prescott High, not unless you want them to come for you.
Those dirty, rotten Havoc Boys might be a gang to everyone else, but they’re family to me.
My f*ckbuddy. My first love. My husband. My challenger. My confidante.

There’s trouble brewing in the halls of our high school, and it’s spilling into the streets.
Once upon a time, Havoc held Prescott in an iron grip.
But for senior year, we want the whole goddamn city.

This year, we’ll have to drop bodies if we want to own the underground.
Good thing that’s something we excel at.
The Havoc Boys are artists, their brushes made of bone, their paint a brilliant ruby red.

One Havoc Girl for five Havoc Boys.
I wear the crown; I warm their beds; I hold their leashes.
We’re going to take back our school, our city, our lives—I’m just praying to whatever vengeful god will listen that the price for all of that doesn’t cost me a letter in our dark acronym.
H.A.V.O.C.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

For me, each book got progressively worse.

I couldn't finish this last one. If I had to read one more time about how the mfc was "the queen of havoc" (her own words) I was going to punch something. I found that the mfc just got less and less likeable as the books went on and that she didn't really bring anything of value to the group other then her vagina, I mean all the boys have been in love with her for years, but..... WHY!?!?..... She lies to herself and everyone else constantly..... Has a chip on her shoulder a mile wide..... And wasn't particularly good at anything other then having sex and being a spiteful bitch *sigh*. She is constantly telling everyone, including herself how tough she was but, for the most part, she was nothing but weak and these boys, who claim to love her, allow/encourage her to wallow in her lies..... No this wasn't for me.

I won't even touch on the authors need to quote her own work to make poignant point *sighs in deep pain*

You know what......despite the last installment being so bad (compared to the first) and not looking forward to reading this in any way, I was actually going to push through and finish the series. Who knows? Maybe Stunich would’ve brought back some of what made Havoc so much better than Chaos.....plus despite the hot mess that was installment #2, I am an Oscar fan.

That’s until I realized she once again DECIDED TO DRAG YET ANOTHER STORY OUT OVER MORE INSTALLMENTS.
description
In every installment so far it’s said this was a THREE part series (even the description/blurb for this on here and Amazon still lists this book as BOOK THREE OF THREE IN THE SERIES), why am I surprised she found a way to stretch it for 5?
I want to know who these people are she’s listening to that made her believe that this story (that was already dragging bc of its lack of plot anyways) needed two additional books...
description
.....all that did was force more fluff, purple prose, smut, and dragged out situations when we were already getting enough of all this prior to adding the two additions. I know, I know, she’s likely doing something she (and everyone else who loves her) will think is so clever....like making sure she spells Havoc with the installments of a series called Havoc Boys.
Side Note: I just realized she is actually doing this based on how she made one letter on each cover bigger than the other, but to be fair remember she said it was 3 books total so how was I to know that was the reason for the big letter until now?

Also, based on other reviews I see the issues I had just kept getting progressively worse....even some that rated the last ridiculous installment with 4-5 stars were finally seeing the light by the end of this one. From the contradictions, to the lack of character development or actual plot progression, to the insane amount of purple prose and cheesy one-liners she seems to love, and the bad RH core of it all......
description
For an author that is so established in the RH “world” and has written as many as she has, you would think she would understand what makes RH work and what doesn’t. RH only works when all parties are on board with it and the love is shared the same throughout the group. This series feels a lot like cheating since her husband IS NOT a fan of the arrangement they have set up. Really are any of the guys truly okay with sharing her? And what makes her so special anyways? Why do they “love” her so much that they are willing to sacrifice their opportunities to have a woman of their own they don’t have to share who can also take their last name and have their children? Those are the questions I need answered in RH, and Bernie seems to really only have the talent of being a try-hard vile bitch who spends more time reminding everyone she’s the “Queen of Havoc” than she does actually proving why she is. Must be that magical vagina/70s-style bush (I’m sorry I can’t get over this writing choice) she has working for her....
description

And finally, I’ve heard that this entire series (and the name of her arch-nemesis) is an attack on another indie author.....she basically changed the spelling of Bernie’s ex-best friend’s name (so that it isn’t spelled like her real life “inspo”) but it’s supposedly about this specific author. IDK, I’m just going to say that if this is really true....well that makes both this series, this author, & any of her fans (or really stans) who KNOW yet still encourage this behavior even more disappointing.
description
Especially considering it’s based on that author’s series being accused of copying Stunich’s yet no one wants to bring up how two of the most popular RH series out right now (this is one) are basically the rich kid vs poor kid versions of the same characters with similar storylines....
description
...but I guess since those authors are “friends” and support each other it’s okay. And Im not even familiar with the author this series “bullies” (so this isn’t one of her fans trying to avenge/take up for her). And here I thought it was super cheesy she used this series as a half-assed attempt at fighting the “power” (govt) with her not so subtle (or clever) political references.

I realize she will always have high reviews bc she has loyal fans/supporters and that’s all well and good, but anyone who has read a true 5 star read knows deep down this isn’t even close. Regardless if you looked past all the contradictions/editing issues/the dragged out plot/etc and really enjoyed this book/series, it’s still not 5 star worthy writing or a 5 star worthy story/plot.
description
And giving it such a high rating whether out of loyalty to the author or just blindness to the problems that are in your face is an insult to authors that care enough about their readers to at the very least, go the extra mile to deliver a story that is edited properly (we won’t get into everything else that separates this from true perfect 5 star reads).

I’m being harsh, especially when I don’t have the guts to write books for people to criticize....
description
.....but more readers have to start being honest with these authors (and themselves) and stop being scared of internet bullies or potentially pissing an author off. This isn’t talented storytelling, this is an authors attempt at pushing her personal shit onto her massive fan base and calling it art. And I’m over it. Especially when her idea of “poverty” is a slap in the face to people who are actually living it. IDK, I’m just over this author and her dragged out, unrealistic, absolutely insulting, poorly edited stories.

OMG 🙉🙉🙉 I want the next book right now!!! Seriously, things are about to go FUBAR and that’s where it ended!😩🙈 This can’t be happening!! Unfortunately, I now have to wait for the fourth book to come out. This makes me extremely sad. Originally “Anarchy “ was supposed to be out right now but the author let her readers know that because of the fires burning close to where she lives, the book has been moved to a later date. I totally understand this... but gee.. the wait is going to suck!

I am a total sucker for these high school bully romances!!! This series goes way beyond that though! HAVOC is a major hardcore gang, and trust me.. they don’t mess around! Bernadette is their “Queen “ so to speak, and all of the five guys love her! This is a reverse harem themed story, so if that isn’t your thing then don’t bother reading this book! Also, it’s a very dark series.. tons of violence and sex... and it definitely crosses the line in sooo many ways! I love every minute of it! Lol. For whatever reason I am highly entertained by the series!!!

I can’t wait to see what the author has up here sleeve for the next book!!! All I know is Bernadette is on a rampage and their enemies had better run!!!

Done

To much inner thoughts till my eyes bleed. I was so sleepy my eyes started closing.
Not well working reverse harem machine at all. No one but her wants to really share . The main man is really against it. This does not work in a RH at all. The Men accept each other for her well being and in turn accept each other. Not in these books .They are at odds with each other. Could and should have been the end to this series but nope we gonna drag this out for another or more .? So I'm just done. I usually love her books but this one has stuck a negative cord in this last one for me Maybe because it drug out to much and I actually started rooting for Vic to be her only lover ( never a good thing in a RH) ? They just thought about the same things WAY to much and little action or any action at all for that matter. This last book seemed to try to be more profound in their inner workings and for me fell short .
So I'm leaving it here not making another note on phone to remind me of ( cringe) book 4 might come back to series if an when ( cause she had some unfinished series for long time out there ) she is done with these grown up gang wanna be . Did I mention the main female lead make my teeth hurt ? Yea there is that 2 😒

Bernie is just so so unlikable! She brings nothing but a vagina to the group. And she is supposed to be raising her little sister?! When?! She is always searching for her next lay or seeking revenge. Like that is such a good responsible role model...
Vic hates to share. Him sharing just doesn't seem to fit. And she treats him so poorly. Him and Oscar. Ugh. She should've just been with him only if she really has to or Callum, Hael, and Aaron.
I DO like the push pull a bit with Oscar..though she crosses lines though!
I don't like that there are bits in this book that are so so similar to other books too.

"You and me, we're fucking fate."

Can we take a fucking second to talk about Callum... literally what the fuck happened to his character in this book? Empecemos hablando de cuando tiene relaciones sexuales con Bernie por primera vez, y lo cringe que fue; literalmente me acuerdo y sufro porque la pasé muy mal. Que le diga "I'm your monster, command me as you choose" fue un big no from me.

"But now that you're here, I may as well give you the world - even if it's not the exact one I had in mind."

I’m not sure why I continue to read this series. It has not wowed me. I initially liked the characters and wanted to see Bernie fulfill her list. Now, there’s too much focus on sex between them and the book has moved away from her list into something else entirely with a new antagonist without fulfilling that first plot or conflict with the prior antagonist.

I find it comical that I called the author out for using the wrong artery and she uses the correct one in a clunky manner here. She also uses the word reigns instead of reins approximately three to four times. There are grammar issues and syntax issues that feel clunky and rushed as if the deadline of releasing the new book had the author pushing through the book too quickly. In addition to that, the author uses the word quips every other page it feels like along with the descriptor “inked fingers” and mentions Bernies pink ripped hair.

The plot of this book didn’t feel like it lined up with the others and the addition of the points of view from a couple of the males didn’t add anything for me. I expected this to be the final book but it appears there will be two more in the series. I didn’t see how it could extend for another two books until I read this one and discovered that it will likely be more drama for the sake of drama.

The Sexual Exploits Of Bernadette Blackbird continues

This book should have been called
‘The Many Sexual Exploits Of Bernadette Blackbird’
Because, a LARGE part of the storyline revolves around Bernie and the boys from Havoc
Hael
Aaron
Victor
Oscar
Callum
Of course this third book picks up where the second ended, and the first few chapters revolve around the newlyweds.
Victor and Bernadette, who are on their honeymoon, not by themselves of course, they have all the other Havoc boys with them.
However, Victor and Bernie don’t allow the other four guys to cramp their style as they screw their way through most of the first half of the story.
This means the backstory around the Havoc guys ongoing battle for gang supremacy with the ‘Charter Crew’ in on the back-burner while Bernadette comes to a resolution (of sorts) with the new hubby to share her with the other guys of Havoc.
Bernie wastes no time establishing herself within the gang. Gettin, down and dirty with all the guys on a kinda rotation system. This is because she LOVES them all, and they are the only REAL family she’s even had.
And when you have lusted after four different guys since you were eight (no that doesn’t sound right)
Since you have WANTED to be part of the guys gang since you were eight. Then, you have to sleep with them all ...right?
Almost all the guys are onboard, (of course. They’re guys) and before you know it Bernie is like their saviour, she’s exorcising their demons. Pulling their horrible broken stories from them and F’ ing them like crazy...Saint Bernadette.
Well, all except that pesky Oscar. He’s holding out on Bernie and, she not happy. Ever since they first got together and had disgusting period sex (once. Book #2) and Oscar didn’t hold her afterwards, telling her how wonderful she is(like the other guys) and ran away.
She didn’t even get a chance to find out all his darkest secrets so she could act like his therapist and get to know him.

Bernie started to irritate me in this book.
She came across (at times)
Arrogant
Petulant
Full of her own self importance.
For a character that’s the heroine in this story, why did I want to see her fall flat on her face sometimes?
She seemed to be getting too big for her boots.

We got page after page of Bernadette’s sex obsessed feelings towards the guys.(and their sex bodies that got her panties wet)
No sooner had she left one guys bed, when she was obsessing and hopping over to the next one.
How many time was this girls ‘skin prickling with need’
How they managed to get any school work done, let alone chase gangs member with all the screwing in beyond me.
(And C.M Stunich Loves herself a good graphic sex scene)

I kind of guessed this was the direction this book was heading in as this author writes RH book all the time.
However, the many relationship storyline’s took away from the actual plot.
The gang rivalry. The child sex trafficking, the involvement of the adults...it was to few and far between.
Once we kinda, sorta got the Oscar business put to bed (pun intended....and boy, was she relentlessly trying to get at him! Couldn’t handle a little rejection could she.)things got a little more on track towards the end.
Cliffhanger anyone???

Anyway, out of all the guys I hope Bernadette eventually runs off with Aaron, with Victor fuming! and on their tail.
And, if any of them are going to end up dead...my monies on. Oscar or Callum ....Or,...will it end up like her other books with the HEA ...all living in the same house together...Four Stars

I think this review will be strongly in the minority however many times throughout this reading, I honestly thought that I was not going to be able to finish this book.

For the first 3/4 of the book I couldn’t find one thing I liked about the female MC, so much so that I contemplated throwing in the towel on more than one occasion. I mean it took me 8 days to struggle through something that would typically be finished in 1-2 days.

I had read book 1 (loved it) and book 2 (was ok), but for some reason in this book Bernie was fucking annoying as all get out continually forcing how tough she is down your throat every 2 minutes when all the while she was nothing more than a whining sniveling annoying pain in the ass.

Typically if you have to reiterate that someone is tough/hard/smart etc., it usually means they are anything but.

I persevered with this one solely based on other books by this author, but I derived little pleasure from it.

Yay! I've finally made it to book 3. I'll admit, Mayhem at Prescott High had it's ups and downs for me. Maybe it's the crazy psychotic people within it.. or maybe it's because I have to deal with Kali's dumb ass. God, that girl drives me nuts and she really needs to realize that the guys do not like her. I repeat, THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU.

Other than that, the romance is growing stronger within the group and it was time that Vic let the guys get their piece of Bernie. I'm just saying. You can't have a harem with one guy holding you hostage. It just doesn't work. It will create so much tension - which it did.. and then people explode (in their pants - lol).

In the end, I really enjoyed this cliffhanger because it's high time that Kali's ass gets beaten. She has been annoying me since book one and I need revenge. Good ass revenge.

The sexy scenes are hot but other than those that's what there is. Bernie has this need to constantly call herself Havoc and the queen but aside from trying to get all five of her guys in bed she hasn't really done anything actionable. I think she actually bitches and moans more than anything. I found myself skimming more than reading cause I want to know how it all ends but there's so much fluff to get through I just want to skip the fluff.

DNF at 42%. I can’t go any further. I kept hoping it would pick up the pace and focus more on her list and the bad guys. But it focused on the same things in every book & only got worse.

Did you know her hair was pink tipped?

Did you know they had tattoos? *gasp* shocker I know

Did you know their gang name was HAVOC?

Did you know she was going to be the MF’ing queen?

Did you know the guys hair colors and styles?

Did you know she has a bush?

Did you know Vic is jealous? (Which kind of ruins the RH aspect)

You should, it’s all only repeated constantly.

“He raked his fingers through his purple-dark hair” Fascinating...the first 50 times maybe.

This series is very repetitive. When I started on the first book, I thought it was a finished trilogy, (when I had added it to my read list it was said to be a trilogy) but it’s actually five books that could have been done in two or three.

If you take out all the trivial repetitiveness, the dumb dialogue that’s not needed and a ton of the sex thoughts, talk and scenes it would flow so much better.

I mean how do they take care of the kids? They only think talk and have sex nonstop when they aren’t being gangbangers. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

A FEW thoughts so far

My overall review will be on the final book, but here’s some of my thoughts for now.

At this point I’m kind of annoyed with her chasing Oscar so much. I know she has it in her head that he really loves her and she just needs to get him to open up, but since she’s supposed to be this badass female lead, I want her to just say eff you to him and make him chase her for once. He’s the only one still not fully on board with her harem yet.

They leave the girls with a babysitter A LOT. Like over night all the time... the babysitter or the babysitters cop father isn’t concerned about this? Since the kids supposedly have parents and all. This is a small issue, I just don’t know how someone hasn’t said anything about it yet.

The use of “spirited” is getting on my nerves lol

Man, these books. They're really something. They keep me so engrossed in the story, I can't help but read until the late hours of the night because I forget that I'm reading.

It's really hard to talk about what happens in this book without having spoilers for the series as a whole. The story continues to have plenty of action and mayhem throughout this book. And the smut factor is definitely kicking up. Sometimes the characters absolutely infuriate me. And sometimes I just wanna hug them until they no longer feel so... terrible.

These kids have gone through so much and they're not even out of high school yet. It's seriously amazing that they can even function at all. I guess that why they have their Havoc family.

Aaaaah whyyyyyy???

This series started off sooo good and I feel like I’m just starting to dislike it more and more as it goes on.

It wasn’t the worst but it just had a lot of stuff that annoyed me I mean Bernie annoyed the shit out of me, she is a total bitch throughout the book to victor and in all honesty it has taken a book that was a five star read down sooo many stars for me. It was alright in book one because things were new and that was their dynamic but it just doesn’t feel like she should still be like that with him anymore ! I donno thinking this book doesn’t work properly as a RH, kind of just feels like she is cheating on each guy every time she is with another.

Very frustrated I really loved book one and it’s slowly going downhill with each book after!

She also is just coming off to arrogant and “hard” I like a strong independent woman character but this is just coming off too bitchy for my liking.

Bernies constant use of “I hate you” “as much as I hate him” “god I hate him” is just insufferable honestly.... I’m meant to be reading a romance here!

There are some great point and so it’s not completely unredeemable and with a book still to go things could definitely turn around and maybe all come together to make perfect sense.

The guys banter and friendship is golden any time they are interacting with each other is a delight and I find myself wanting those moment more and more.
The Saucy moments between Bernie and her guys are red hot (the threesome with Vic and Aaron girl fan me)

I find her relationship with Oscar to be the thing really keeping me invested in the story at this point, I want to see what happens there. Plus I like a good choke moment and that boys delivers!!!

Out of all the relationships though I think the one with Callum is her truest connection though and there aren’t moments between then that she spews hate at him.

Like in all honesty these are extremely broken guys and I feel like Bernie is so bloody self absorbed that she isn’t giving them the love and support they need, prime example. Her feeling up Oscar in the car making him uncomfortable and not respecting his boundaries one bit.

Hoping she has an epiphany type moment and comes to her senses and actually becomes a good partner and girlfriend coz otherwise I’m just gonna be so upset!

My rating remains stable, which is not that good, I usually like sequel books even more because I'm attached to the characters, but oh well. #2 and even more so #3 have been a bit messy. Here's what I thought at about 50%
"I'm honestly confused.
On one hand I'm loving where the romantic side of the story is headed (finally) (also Callum I pointed my bet on you to be my fav, but I'm waiting, please) (the treesome was lit)
On the other hand... What am I reading? Like... What's the actual plot now? Bernie's list is not over, but now the main focus is on the cops. I feel like the author is straining with too many things at once."

Having finished this now I can I stand by every single word:
🔸 The plot got messy and I got a bit lost with all the names and relations but it all seems to connect with Vic's mom, so we at least got that to sum up and forget whatever was already lost on my mind.
🔸 The romance: I feel like Heal has been forgotten a bit in this book, there was not enough of him, Vic was also taking a step back but his alpha male and boss presence are always guiding everything. Aaron, as they say you never forget your first love... I loved every scene between him and Bernie. Cal, I still love him but I don't think him my #1 anymore, I mean the "dancing lesson" got more weird than erotic in a couple paragraphs (might be the weird descriptions). Oscar. Oscar my boy you're a beautiful, terrifying enigma. Loved everything with him, waiting for more.

I Give this Book a 4-4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4.

Cliffhanger(?): Yes!
Relationship Type: MFMMMM
Heat: 4-4.5/5
Romance: 4/5
Drama: 4.5-5/5
Suspense: 4.5-5/5
Dark(?): As an avid dark reader I give this book a 3.5/5, this book may be darker for others :)
Pacing: Mid to Mid Fast, the pacing is pretty good for the most part but it does get a little confusing on how many days are actually going by.
No Spoilers, review for this book is short cause I wanna jump into the next Book 😆

I liked the first two books well enough, but this one just made me eyes roll constantly. I was initially excited about Bernie and her guys avenging justice on all those who wronged her, but at this point it's all about sex. The emotional connections aren't as profound as they should be (especially for book three in a five book series) and even though Hael is my favorite character, his red Mohawk couldn't save this mess.

As for Bernie, she's gotten progressively less likeable as the series has gone on. Initially she started this vendetta to keep her little sister safe, but she's never around her sister. Aaron is technically the one raising her at this point but doesn't mind since her vagina is apparently that magical? *eye roll.* And if I have to read one more time how she's the queen of havoc and just how badass she is, I'm liable to blow my brains out. She wasn't strong at all and the boys did most of her dirty work. Add to the fact that she would be so wishy washy on her emotions-- she would feel so in love one second and then hiding behind her walls the next, giving all sorts of excuses as to why they were all so toxic together (spoiler alert: she's actually right on that.) I just couldn't do it anymore. And our author never states as to just why these boys are so obsessed/in love with her.. three books later and I still have no idea what makes her so great in their eyes. Ugh.

Plus this isn't even rh. She sleeps with then all, yes, but Vic-- her freaking HUSBAND -- is adamantly against sharing her. In fact they all are. The fundamentals of a rh book is that there's all acceptance, no judgements whatsoever and just built on love. There's none of that here. I was actually hoping she would pick just one guy and put the rest out of their misery.. not that that she even deserved them. Ugh.

I think it's safe to say this author is off my list.

*updated review* *original review at the bottom*
After chatting with someone else who had finished this book, I decided to try and push through it until the end. I’ve changed my review from 1 star to 2.5. Idk this book still didn’t really do it for me. Very slow and by the time stuff started happening, the book was over. I don’t feel very hyped up about waiting for a 4th book. Cliff hanger was just meh. I don’t regret finishing it but my comments in my original review still stand. Aaron is the only likeable character to me. Bernie doesn’t deserve him.

DNF. Honestly, might have finished it if this was the final book but knowing there are now 2 more????? 2 more 100,00+ word books full of so much unrealistic drama for TEENAGERS??? 2 more books that won’t get released on the initial release date?? Yeah, nope. Main character is so full of herself, makes me want to gag. I’m done with this series. Such a letdown considering how frustrating this author was with releasing her second book. Also, I really don’t think it should be a selling point to keep mentioning how long each of these books in the series are going to be, if anything that makes me want to read them less. This is the only author I read that does that. Doesn’t mean anything if the book is over 100,000+ words, yet still bad.

OMG, I love that we are getting more background to the boys, especially Callum and Oscar. And just for the record: ophelia is a devil in disguise and Kali is really a psychopath. But damn doesn't it make for good story!

Not entirely the book's fault, I just got bored with the relationships and repetition.

I enjoyed this third instalment in the story. I do think that there is an over abundance of purple prose that kind of takes away from the story for me, but I did like this one and I’m looking forward to book 4.

CW: gang violence, gun violence, physical violence, gore, murder, sexual assault, child trafficking, mentions of domestic abuse, poverty, police brutality

** 3 ½ stars **

Mayhem At Prescott High is the third book in The Havoc Boys series by C.M. Stunich. This book is not a standalone and should be read after reading Havoc At Prescott High and Chaos At Prescott High. Trust me, you don’t want to miss all of the dangers lurking around every page turn! The stakes are even higher and deadlier for the Havoc Crew. Now they’re not only looking at having to take down a whole crew, but they also have to take down what looks to be a child trafficking ring on top of it all in the name of protecting Bernadette’s life and keeping Victor’s inheritance out of his evil mother’s clutches.

I’m not going to lie and say I loved everything about this specific novel, the first half of Mayhem At Prescott High dragged on a bit too slow for me. Given the first two books in the series, I expected this one to be pedal to the metal adrenaline at the start of the gate and in a way it was a bit of a slow burn. I don’t usually mind a slow burn where the action is concerned, but with this book and this series I want all the raw grit and danger filled vibes! However, after that fifty percent mark… this book picked up speed! Thank the heaven’s above!! C.M. Stunich sent my heart on a freaking adrenaline induced roller coaster ride. From exceptional highs to undeniable lows, Bernadette, Vic, Hael, Oscar, Callum, and Aaron have officially and damn near been through it all! I can’t imagine what else can get thrown at Bernie and her men….

Bernadette is a WILD CARD! I never can guess what this girl is thinking. One minutes she’s cool as a cucumber, then the very next she’s seeking retribution from those who wronged her. She is as fierce as they come and I do believe she’s giving her boys a run for their money. People shouldn’t be fearing Havoc; they should be fearful of Bernadette and what she can achieve in the name of Havoc.

But Something inside me says that Oscar is going to have the greatest showdown among all the boys. Speaking of Oscar; it still stands, I’m the most intrigued by Oscar’s character. This man is a complete mystery to me. I think getting an insight into his thoughts with a few of his POV moments were my favorites. This man is DARK and I think he has a very high chance of overthrowing Victor’s king/boss status. You know what they say, the quiet ones are always the deadliest ones. I feel this darkness living just beneath his surface, and this darkness is begging to be set free. I feel sorry for the poor sucker who feels his wrath.

Let’s not forget to talk about the bombshell of a cliffhanger that was dropped at the end of Mayhem At Prescott High!!! You know the moment you turn on a boxing match and you have to wait for all the under card  fights to take place before the big money show starts….. Well that big money show just walked through the door reeking of violence and brutality…. And then the novel ended! I’ll be the first to admit if I would have read this last year when it first released there is no doubt about it I would have been seriously pissed off by this cliffhanger! And yet another reason I should be thankful I waited to read this series!

Overall, I’m loving the suspense-filled vibe that is this series. I honestly never know whats going to happen next. Every page turned is a mystery.

And let’s also not forget how freaking sexy this group of misfits are! Let me warn you now, if you aren’t a fan of Reverse Harem novels with menage moments, this book and series is not for you. If you don’t like a slight bdsm take on sexy time scenes, this book and series is not for you. If you aren’t a fan of deliciously dark romances with a heavy amount of violence, bullying, and sexual situations this is not the book or series for you. I, however, can’t get enough of it!!!

3.5 stars, rounded down.

More purple prose. More violence, sex and murder. But also more genuine connection between the characters, especially so now that we’re finally exploring Oscars character. A tiny little bit more common sense. I also liked that there were more present tense POVs from the boys, I would like more of those pls.

One of my biggest issues with these books is that Bernie’s sister heather truly is just a plot muppet. Keeping her safe is the one reason she’s still alive, and yet… we barely ever see her interact with her. Every couple of chapters there’s the obligatory “drive the girls to school and drop her off at the babysitter” line but honestly it’s ridiculous.

They better fix the problem that the books ends on or I’ll RIOT!!

Suspension of disbelief is a necessary skill when reading this series. I'm not sure why it has such high ratings, but it's so far an average read with some absolutely ridiculous scenarios. To be honest, your enjoyment is dependent on your ability to suspend disbelief.
