Two stars.

Wrote the review for the second book in this series. Both books could have been combined into one book. Won't be reading the third book.

Somewhat okay.

Read the first and second book in this series, won't be reading the third book. There is so much violence and blood. We have enough of it on line and TV, especially if story involves little children and pregnant woman. All for getting the account information so the corrupt government officials influence the United States foreign policies. That is join the headlines too.

this was an enjoyable listen but I did feel like I came in halfway through the series. the story itself was very interesting and well crafted. The narration really suited the style of the book.

The book ended on s cliff hanger so off to listen to the next one, but I have also found that there was a prequel, so going to listen to that as well.

parts are a bit graphic for trigger warnings. there were a few production issues but they did not spoil the book.

This is book four in the Riveting Kidnapping Mystery series and is a standalone read. It’s the first book in this series that I have read, but I enjoyed the author’s EMP series and looked forward to reading something a bit different from them. It proved to be yet another exciting read from the author. The main character is an ex-police detective, Chase Grant, who got fired from his job a few years before and put on trial, for his severe actions in an important case. He used to partner a woman he calls Mocks, who has now been promoted to Lieutenant and at nearly nine months pregnant, is glad of the desk job, or at least her husband is.

Mocks is in charge of the Missing Persons department and leaks a few cold cases to Grant to keep him going, as he is suffering and not exactly making ends meet anymore without a proper job. His face is famous, but for all the wrong reasons. He has tragedy also, in his past and has moved away to a more rural location to escape things from his past. The street he lives on is fairly isolated and he has few neighbours. After a night out re-visiting places of his past and Mocks, he gets home to find the young girl from next door and her dog, hiding in his closet!

Turns out her home has been ransacked and her parents have been taken by unknown assailants. Grant calls the local police and they take the five year old off his hands and supposedly into Child Services, while Grant agrees to keep the dog till her parents can be found. He doesn’t agree with the girl being put into care, but has no power to stop this. He visits the crime scene and finds a clue. He also picks up the girls favourite teddy and wants to hand it in to her, but finds she is not with Child Services. This discovery leads him to finding out his neighbours were not who he thought they were!

He is so out of the zone, he can’t believe he never picked up on anything, especially living next to them for the last six months and even babysitting at times for them. Bring in the FBI and the attractive US Marshal Sam and the game gets more interesting. Once he gets his teeth into a case, it doesn’t matter where it leads, but he will continue to follow the leads and get his man or men and gain justice for the victims. He will have to overcome his painful past memories and the danger of losing another loved one, if he has any chance of finding the girl’s parents alive. If he can’t, then it won’t be only the girl’s parents that may die.

This is a fascinating tale of detective work, missing person cases, a disgraced cop trying to find redemption and the irrational acts of a powerful and dangerous man. Events come together in surprising and unexpected methods, often with killer consequences. This was a thriller of a read from the start and I enjoyed every page. Having read the EMP series of books, I was looking forward to this one, not realising the author wrote in this genre as well, but expecting it to as good if not better than them. I was not disappointed. I will now go back to read the others in this series and look forward to seeing more of Grant and his partner and any other cases raised in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

"Missing Person: Book 1" starts in the middle of the story, where "Missing: The Beginning" left off. It's a tad confusing.
A couple have been abducted and their young daughter is in protective custody. The husband, an accountant, managed the books for an international criminal ring and, in a mistaken bid to secure his safety, has locked down $5.5Bn.
Retired Homicide Detective Chase Grant initially assists the investigation and, when his methods prove successful, is brought in as a consultant to the FBI.
It's a novel that moves at speed, rarely taking time to breathe, and it is the better for it. It is overly gory in places, more so than it needs to be, but it is a very good read.
3.5 Stars, raised to 4 Stars.

Grant is a disgraced Seattle police officer that still knows how to get the job done. This case involves a family in the witness protection program that is abducted, the head of the FBI, a federal marshall that didn't like her previous "hands on" instructor at the FBI (so she joined the witness protection program instead) and is teemed up with Grant, and Grant's former partner in the Seattle Police Dept. who is now in management at SPD and is pregnant. There are others involved with other roles. The book is a pretty quick read, but leaves you hanging. This story is completed, but another one starts, allowing the author to start a series. This is a pretty good read.

I borrowed Missing Person ~ A Riveting Kidnapping Mystery ~ Book 1 from the Kindle Unlimited program.

Chase Grant is working on the kidnapping case with the FBI, US Marshall's Office and Seattle PD as a consultant. Using his analytical mind and way of thinking he finds the leads that are missed and successfully helps rescue two of the family members.

The action is constant as the evidence turns in an unexpected direction and to one of the top officials in the government. Another kidnapping at the end will start the next book in the series, so Grant is off to a new and very personal case.

Why they are kidnapped

Each time a person is taken it fills the void of the one taken. Law enforcement fights to find the one taken. Sometimes that causes lives of the police or whatever agency is out the beating the bricks to find the ones that were taken. The is no one answer that explain the reasons the person has for taking another person. Thus series helps to explain the why of some of our takers.

Action and love!

This book reminded me of what good people in law enforcement are about! There are none left in the upper echelon of law these days. The FBI is crap as is some high ranking generals along with the entire democrat party with RINOS to boot! But, this book brought action, love, and close friendship to the forefront! Very well written novel with characters you love and some we do not, but they hopefully get theirs in the end,

Action-filled suspense

Detective Grant is my hero in this story, he is intelligent, courageous, unselfish, and extremely observant in details that help to find the bad guys! I was definitely riveted to this story, so filled with action and suspense, that I can’t wait to read the next book!

Villains and hero’s

This book gives a good description of how much the hero’s love helping people. While traveling a narrow path. While the villains do as they please for their own pleasures.

Great book

This second book follows Grant after he was released from the missing persons Bureau for not following police procedures. This book is as fast paced as the first and keeps you turning the pages to find out if they will make it out of this one alive.
