Protagonist: Stepping into the Story of Advent

This is the time of year we must sink into the ancient story of God's people and remember what it means to hope. We walk with them on the desert road. We ache and thrill with the Prophets. We sing along with the Poets. We wait with anticipation for Jesus to step into the Story. We could never get to him. Our only hope is that he comes to us. And in the fullness of time, the plot takes a scandalous turn that we dared not even imagine. The Creator steps into the Story, and takes on the lead role. The Author becomes the Protagonist.

Advent is the turn of the Story. It is a season in the Christian calendar that awakens our kingdom imagination as we intentionally enter into a time of waiting, longing for the arrival of Jesus at Christmas.

Starting it on December 1st is a great way to start the advent season. I really enjoyed the book and it helped get set up for Christmas, and the 12 days after. Our church followed along with it and it was easy to follow along.
