Can't someone have a normal parentage? This only keeps getting worse, even though some things from the past are explained, I still couldn't give a shit.
Things are definitely moving along now, but I'm not sure how I feel about antagonists just quitting in the middle of a battle because of some existential crisis.
It was such a plot twist when we found out that August was Mavis and Zeref’s son all along and Larcade was a demon from the books of Zeref. I loved Larcade as a character regardless and it was so heartbreaking to see Zeref kill him. I don’t think I will ever get over the fact that neither Zeref or Mavis know they have a son! And don’t ever find out. It’s so heart wrenching and I really feel for August by then end of it. I hope the anime changes it slightly so they end up finding out before they die or even in death, but I love Hiro Mashima’s story and artwork regardless if it doesn’t fulfill all of my wishes. And I live for Zeref and Natsu’s “sibling” relationship. It is hilarious and touching in all the good ways. You can really tell that Natsu was generally hurt and confused when Zeref said he didn’t have any family. Why Zeref do you always have to wreck everything for yourself?

Strange enough with only 2 volumes left of the series I find myself worrying because there are some pretty dark themes including death for a Teen rated book and the final showdown is about to begin with all the major players convening in one place. The problem is of these major players two of them are thought to be nigh unstoppable so two volumes seems like a tall order for such a fight. Having seen my fair share of rushed series throwing Hail Marys to try to appease fans while dealing with tying up loose ends I hope Hiro Mashima is as amazing a story ender as he is a spinner of tales of friendship and magic(not a MLP reference seriously.) :)
With that out of the way how many people read the last volume and had to wait to see what happened after launching her already broken and exhausted body to the sky to intercept a freaking meteor? *Cue one winged angel music* If you didn't believe you will believe now that Erza can fly as she Saitama's the now dragon enhanced weapon of mass destruction plummeting toward Earth Land. New light is shown on Erza's childhood as well as one of the 12 that work for Zeref. In the end love seems to be conquering all...Let's see how well that turns out in the end but for know I am still super excited to read the story until the very end. It has to be better than Shaman King's end. :)
Favorite part was as described above Erza seemingly defeated by Irene but she still manages to destroy a meteor that would have wiped out a lot of people and with a little help brought down Irene from her dragon form. Be sure to read this book. :)
On verra !
ENG I'm going to talk about volume 56 to 63; no spoilers don't worry ! Some scenes (especially in the 56) just ENERVOUS me, and I really couldn't stand it, I had to take a mini-break ! I must admit that the last two volumes were very good; we saw/re-saw certain characters. Quite a few fairly predictable things, but that's okay ! I'm pretty "frustrated" because I didn't get everything I wanted, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the end. I will not speak of the eternal "fan-service", that, I just can't take it anymore !!!! I know there is technically a sequel, I still hesitate to dive into it, at least for the moment ! We'll see ! A page turns, a book closes; it was a nice read.
Also über Irene.

3,5 in realtà.
The 12 are almost defeated and Erza is close to defeating her mother but there’s only so much one person can do. At the same time though, Magnolia is returned to its original form. This allows for the final battle with Zeref to commence and it’s still unsure who will survive this outcome.
The beginning of this volume was extremely weak with Erza’s story which hurt a lot but it built up after that battle ended. I loved the moments with Gray and how he reflects on his friendship with Natsu. The roles of parentage in this volumes were extremely weird and uncomfortable at times but then at others it almost broke my heart. Very mixed views on this volumes but there were some clear shining moments in it.
This volume of Fairy Tail really reminds us of the power of family! Irene and Erza's battle comes to a climactic conclusion. But there is no time to simply bask in the aftermath for there are far more sinister things still afoot. What seemed like impossible odds now leaves only a few remain of the Twelve...and Fairy Tail is bruised and battered...but not beaten! Some of the battles in this book are beyond EPIC! The cover really captures the feelings of the book and some (but not all) the main characters of this volume. The punches, kicks and spells feel especially heavy in this volume. In maybe one of the coolest ways possible, this volume teaches lessons about selfishness, living for self and being a parent!
5/5 This volume is all about fathers so as a father I have to give it a higher score. Some very emotional scenes in this one. Gildarts and his daughter Cana take on August who we discover is the son of Mavis and Zereff only they don’t know about it. I thought there was very touching moments as well as some absolutely cruel ones.
We’re down to the final battles now but it’s a great arc.
Natsu, Gildarts, Mavis, Zereff, & Lucy on the cover of volume 61.
zeref and first finally die. makarov get back to living. sadly when finally gray, lucy, & happy met with natsu and they're one their way to guild, natsu gone. can guest maybe he get back to the past or something. can't wait next chapter!
