A STRIPPER'S TAIL: Confessions of a Las Vegas Stripper

Rate this book
For more than eight years, I lived and worked in the dark underworld of Las Vegas as an exotic dancer. Some things are worth repeating-others you try to forget. Unfortunately, you never forget. I decided it was time that somebody told the truth about what really happens in Las Vegas strip clubs and their VIP rooms. Is there "sex in the champagne room?" With the right dancer and for right price, there is anything you want in the champagne room! This book gives a lot of insight into what really happens when men are turned loose on the Las Vegas scene. I think men and women alike will be interested in reading about what really happens in Vegas. See what the dark twenty-four-hour world of Vegas is really like. See what an insider has to say about the life of an exotic dancer.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, and one more NO.

What a horrible mess. This is the THIRD book in less than two weeks that I've had to will myself to continue and two of those I didn't make it with. This I made it and that's only because it's all of 89 pages long. It's more of a thick pamphlet than a book in all seriousness.
This girl is Stupid. (Capitol S there folks.) It's frightening just how stupid she must be to have written this. I suggest she keep her day job. This is one of the most boring pieces of writing I have ever laid eyes on and to make stories about stripping boring, to me, is a HARD thing to do. How does one do that? Read this and you'll find out. I don't think I could even begin to add everything that bothered me to my review.
Not only are there countless errors of all kinds, the sentences themselves sometimes make no sense whatsoever. She goes on and on about how hot she is, how intelligent she is (oh really?) and how all of these stories happened to everyone else BUT HER. Oh, don't get me wrong- the good stories happened to her- you know, the ones where she gets paid thousands of dollars to just 'hang out' with a guy providing no sexual favors at all. You see, the "other" stories, the ones where the strippers give blowjobs in the corner of the club, go out with couples for sex after work, those stories all happened to the other girls. Well, okay, sure.
To continue on, Diamond has a very nasty habit of making sure the readers got her point. As in, "Of course I don't want to leave after work to go with you." NO!
Or, "You can make a lot of money stripping. YES!" Thanks Diamond. I usually have a hard time getting things the first time around.
Hmm, let's see- what else? Las Vegas is a very different town people. It's a town where anything goes, where you can get anything for a price. She calls herself "letting the cat out of the bag" on the men I presume. Diamond's words- "Sorry guys! What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas anymore! NO!"
I don't think I've ever in my entire life came across anything more contradictory than this book. She doesn't leave with customers she meets at the club, then a story involves her going gambling for a weekend with some customers. All strippers only work to take care of their useless boyfriends, but some do it to pay for school and/or care for children. Etc., etc., etc.
I could go on and on for awhile here. I am thrilled to have not paid $12.95 for this piece of crap.

Now, on to something else- I have danced. In numerous states, in numerous clubs, from the classy ones to the trashy ones. Not only is Diamond here exaggerating her little ass off but she's flat out lying in some instances. Sure, different things happen in different places and different women are up for different things- as anywhere in the world. BUT...she has a difficult time deciding what she wants to say. One minute it's this about all strippers and the next she gets a pass because, well, she's Diamond. Nuh-uh.
I'm also fairly positive that when she uses the word 'tail' on the cover as in 'A Stripper's Tail' that she thought she was using the word 'tale'. After reading what I just read I'm sure of it. That right there should give any and all thinking of reading it an idea of what she's like.
And this woman has two children. That's the saddest part of all.

awww come on, if any book deserves a half a star (or how about zero) it's this one! Glad I didn't spend money to buy it cause if I had I'd be so pissed off at myself I wouldn't be able to handle it. Okay on to the review..well this woman is so into herself it'll about make you gag. I laughed my way through most of it cause it was just so stupid that I had to laugh at myself because I was reading the damn thing! It's all about her but then yet again according to her none of it is about her or is about anything she would ever do or had done. She has to be the biggest hypocrite ever born and if there's one thing I can't stand it's a hypocrite. PLEASE just take my word for it, you don't want to read this book. It's total crap!! UGH

This is a book I make everyone read because I had never experienced such atrocious writing. Seriously. I made my husband read it and we still bring it up at parties. I made his sister, a writer/proofreader/editor read it and I think it exploded her brain.

Guys, this book is next level terrible. But it's so bad it's hilarious.

NOTE: does this stripper have a tail?? Is it short or long? I'd like her to write a TALE about her TAIL. It's the title. Good lord.

If the author spent as much time proof reading her book as she did writing fake reviews on amazon, then her book might have been a little more tolerable. Doubtful though, there are so many problems with this one that it's not even worth the time writing a full review.

Beyond the misplaced punctuation, poor grammar and Grade 4-style writing ("Here is a list of some of the more common names I have heard over the years," followed by a full page of names...), there are some stories in this book that are really interesting.

I'm fascinated by memoirs from the sex industry. The author seems sweet and decent but she REALLY needs an editor. Zero editors saw this book! The commas are everywhere, there are words misspelled, some sentences just make no sense at all, the sentence structure is juvenile and annoying, and the repetition is insane. Still, not the worst I've ever read! At least it was interesting. But be ready to pick up a pencil and start correcting the mistakes.

P.16 I have never had to work out a day in my life do to dancing...
P.17 They think because they are rich and famous. They can do what they want...
P.18 ...and was a perfect, gentlemen. (Why the comma? And it should be gentleman for the singular. She does it again later in the paragraph.)
P.22 The men are literally like vultures. (So, figuratively then?)
P.23 ...found dead in allies... (Alleys!)
P.23 Some of these guy's have good jobs...
P.24 It's really is a strange world...
P.30 Depending on the club you chose to visit will depend on the level of fun you will have. (What???)

This book is barely readable. It is dated, sex negative, transphobic, homophobic, and, honestly, poorly written. I love a tawdry memoir as much as the next person, but this book is nether worth your money or your time.

A STRIPPERS TAIL: Confessions of a Las Vegas Stripper

This girl really gets into her work and explains all of the behind the scenes of a stripper. Diamond accounts of what goes on in the club's can only be described as a breath of fresh air. I have been to a few club's in Vegas and this was very interesting reading. I can only give my perspective that this probably does happen and strippers and customers need to be aware of what their getting into from a working standpoint or a customer view. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to all my friends. Diamond surely has found her calling in this book. Congratulations.

This was an inside look at the stripper life and I must say I was quite surprised to find the author so normal!! I was expecting her to perhaps be stripping to support a drug habit or to be damaged in some way but she seems to be refreshingly normal! I can't say the same about alot of the men in the book (men who have bizarre fetishes like wanting women to pee and crap on them!!) and even some of the women were disgusting in how they acted (changing tampons at a dinner table???) WTF?? It was a quick and entertaining read and a tittilating look at what goes on behind the scenes.

Despite the writing, it was cool. She tells of the ins and outs of the business. Plus drops a few tips.

The writing is just awful, she really needed an editor. But her story of what strippers go through and what happens to them is interesting.
