Dr. Nina Evans knows she’s skating on the edge. If the genetic research she’s been conducting isn’t outright illegal—it’s close. But she doesn’t let that bother her. She can’t. She’s desperate to come up with a cure for her baby sister’s illness. Still, she’s been careful not to ask too many questions about the unusual DNA strands she’s working with. Like where they came from, for example.
But she certainly never thought her research would get her kidnapped. So when three very large strangers storm her lab late one night, it’s the surprise of her life. Now, somehow, she has to escape. Her sister needs her. But with that big, silent brute Boaz watching her every second, she has no idea how she’s going to manage that.
Boaz Masters has never smelled anything like it—in his life. Citrus and cinnamon, with just a touch of honey. Ambrosia. Somehow, this human he’s been sent to track has him tied up in knots. The rest of the pack can search for the evil doctor—he just wants her.
Boaz knows the shortage of females among the People means he will probably never find a mate. But when the human he’s been tracking and the doctor turn out to be one and the same, it looks like his luck is changing. Because this particular human smells ripe for the taking. Especially since according to the Law, she must be claimed—or killed.
Welcome to the Rabbit River Pack! Join the Rabbit River Pack for this delightful standalone romance starring Nina and Boaz. Can two individuals from such very different worlds learn to trust each other enough to solve the difficulties they face? Find out, in this Mating of Convenience.
Don’t miss the rest of this series, The Rabbit River Saga, which traces the development of the entire pack. This series combines the magic, humor and sexy alpha hotness of authors like TS Joyce, Zoe Chant and Terry Bolryder, with the heart pounding action, world building and character development of authors like Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. Fans of werewolf romance, paranormal romantic comedy, and romantic fantasy will enjoy this series.
Elyce de Reefe grew up in Santa Cruz, California and New York City. She likes to call herself a coastal girl, since she has spent nearly all of her time on one coast or another. She enjoys all genres of romance as long as there’s a hot, sexy hero with something to learn, a smart female lead who refuses to compromise on who she truly is, and the promise of a happily ever after. Her characters often find themselves on a journey of discovery, struggling to achieve true intimacy while solving the real-life problems thrown in their way.
To date, Elyce has written paranormal wolf shifter romance, contemporary romance, and romantic suspense. But there’s a Sci-Fi series in there waiting to come out, and possibly an epic fantasy series, as well as thoughts on a time travel story. Her ancestors were highlanders, after all.
Elyce loves hiking in nature, riding horses, watching wildlife, swimming under a blue sky, digging in the dirt, and sitting in front of a fire with a good book. She enjoys these things even more in the company of friends and family. Add wine and chocolate, and voila! It’s a beautiful life.
Oh, yes – and she has a very special place in her heart for wolves…
Better than previous couple but H is silent for most of their story, but we are Told about his thoughts. So the poor h has no idea about the pack, their agenda or what he thinks of her. She sort of just falls into line, learns bits and pieces about their agenda. Enough to 'marry' anyway. I liked his thoughts though, he was mad about her. It's a good short story but the writing in the last 2 books has verged on the dreaded Telling rather than Revealing.
Nah, I am not feeling this - or that's what kids these days like to say!
It is all mate-or-you-die threat and it's all rinse and repeat. Imagine skimming in this short book. Nina was so afraid of Boaz and he did nothing to put her at ease, just didn't work well with me. Also, what is the point of having female mates in the Pack, like Elizabeth and Lyla if they don't provide all the details to their weird mating ritual? As if, they forgot how scared they were when that happened. Really, really lost my respect guys. The way NOT to go.
Also, I understand the trick these days authors are using. They left Alpha's story for the last so you basically keep reading the series and the slow burn (or slowest burn) romance of that alpha. Lucas certainly lost some points from me the way he handled the entire Nina situation. There was a lot of potential/material to work with but I am just disappointed how the entire thing is executed.
I am going to read one more of the series but it still goes the same method, I will probably call it quits after that.
This group of misfits and outcasts has found a new addition and Boaz has found his mate. This can’t possibly be a problem now can it? Wrong this is most definitely a problem. Dr. Nina has one thing on her mind and it has nothing to do with Boaz she just needs to know how she can save her sister. OK maybe two now that she’s being held against her will. Strong man of few words Boaz has a big fight on his hands to win this woman who has quickly become his world. It’s a game of tug of war and right now no one’s winning. I love these women and the guys aren’t too bad either, even Dr. Nina shows her good side. She also wonders if this mating is real or just something to keep her safe and keep the other men in the pack at bay. This author has done well with keeping the action and intrigue going but this time things are different. This time a life is in jeopardy and it may be hers if she doesn’t say yes.
I am so happy to have found this series. This is Book 4 and the series is still as exciting as fresh as it was in the first book.
Book 4 picks up where Book 3 left off and focuses on a difference set of characters (Boaz and Nina). We met both of these characters in other books but I was excited to see the focus on them this time. All our other favorite characters were in this book as well. There are many characters but the way the author has brought them to life, there is no getting them mixed up.
The underlying storyline continued on with this but still not resolved which makes me happy because it indicates there are more books to come!
I really like this series as it is different from other shifter stories. The world is unique and the characters and story lines really stand out.
Mating of Convenience by Elyce de Reefe is the fourth book in the Rabbit River Saga. It is a f/m Paranormal Wolf Shifter Romance with drama, humor, heat, and magic.
The pack is still growing, coming together and fighting for their survival. Nina finds herself in a whole new world when shes takenfor Boaz and the pack. She can help them but she will need to prove herself to them. Mating can save them both, but will it just be out of Convenience or will they find their way to love?
I absolutely love this series. The overall plot of the series is interesting and coming along wonderfully. Each book just makes me fall deeper, this one is no exception. The love story is sweet and sexy, the growing pack is amazing to get to see and the characters are interesting, entertaining and likeable.
I read all of the books in this series in two days. All of the books had danger and romance. Humans knowing about wolf shifters is forbidden; unless, the human is mated to a shifter. This last book has a female doctor conducting medical research that finds out about shifters. Boaz takes one look at the doctor and falls in love.
Tense edgy very saucy so sweet and brooding ...but enough about Boaz haha just jokes The story was great A perfect follow on to the previous instalments I nearly self combusted myself at one point it got very very ...,ehm hot Brill but shorter since it’s only a novella
A Lot Of Different Stories That Blend Well Together

One to help her sister who is very sick and needs newborn stem cells from someone who can be a match for her but Nina has a fertility problem that she is trying to solve. She is also trying to solve the "sickness" for an unknown group... unknown till another group kidnapped her and Boaz one of them claimed her and put her under his protection. Now spending all her time on pack ground till the full moon when she needs to decide if she wants except Boaz 's claim or not. They have a lab set-up and someone else she is working with so she can finish her work. Will she except the claim of a werewolf? Will she solve her fertility problem? Can she save her sister? Can she discover what causes the sickness?
I am enjoying this series. Boaz and Nina's story wad a nice adition. Boaz's patience snd strength was a nice balance to Nina's determination and confusion. The story picks up where book 3 stopped. I enjoyed the writing and character development. The conflict in this story was more internal. I was hoping to see how the relationship with the enemy pack has changed, but maybe that happens in the next book. On to the next story.
The story picks up where Book 3 leaves off and continues the story of The Rabbit River pack. I read through this in no time, it's like when I start a book in this series I just can't stop until I'm finished! I'm totally invested to seeing where it goes...on to the next book!!
I received an ARC from the author and I'm reviewing voluntarily.
Holy shiznet!!! What another gr8 story in this series. Boaz is perfect for Nina. He's quiet and reserved, and Nina is a scientist searching for answers. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Wow, now this was the best in the series. Romantic. Hot guy who knows a good woman needs some romance. I'm so pleased I found this series and I look forward to reading more. Its hard for me to give 5 stars but its what fits this story.
What is with the silent strong type? They seem to always be so protective and know what you want. I truly loved Boaz. I didn’t really like her but I’m glad he got his happy ending!
OK. Now I liked this one a bit better than the previous. Nina anf boaz were cute and I liked that he tried to romance her a bit before the mating ceremony
Taken against her will, forced to work under threat of death, and frantic over her sister’s failing health, Dr. Nina Evans is determined to escape. Her kidnappers have explained their reasons and she’s being treated well --very well -- under the circumstances. And she’s making progress with her DNA research. And then there’s the little matter of her conflicting emotions every time Boaz Masters is near.
But she doesn’t like her options, if they can even be called that. Through no fault of her own, she knows about The People. Therefore, she has to accept a mate or die.
She can’t die. Her sister needs her.
And while Boaz is undeniably handsome and gentle and kind and her insides go all mushy around him, she can’t possibly stay with him. He’s not even human. She can’t mate with a monster.
Only it’s really hard to think of Boaz like that.
Boaz wants the beautiful doctor. He wanted her before he even met her, from the moment he got a whiff of her sexy, ambrosial scent. It drives him crazy. And the better he knows Nina, the more he wants to be with her, the more he needs to protect her. But he won’t force her. Can he restrain himself long enough to woo her? Hold out long enough to save her life?
Because without his protection, without the bond, she will die.
A Mating of Convenience, fourth book of the Rabbit River Series, reunites us with characters we love and plunges us into the passionate struggle between Nina and Boaz. Does romance stand a chance when so many outside forces threaten? Maybe a bond can be forced. But can love?
What do you think? Spend time with Nina and Boaz as raw emotion and honesty strip both of them bare.
