Something Disguised is the third in the Something Series, and another short book; one that looked like I should be able to get through in a day or so at most. It didn't turn out like that at all and I think that had a lot to do with the fact that it required real concentration.

The cast list is still growing, and in Disguised we have started to explore the previous incarnations of the characters and learning about their cycle of lives.

I am enjoying the story, and following the lives of the Pogue witches, but I had to keep stopping to regroup and think about who fit where as this story got really quite busy. There was a lot going on for just 168 pages.

Something Disguised picks up where Something Secret leaves off and I think it would have worked better for me to read them consecutively, instead of nearly 5 years and I don't know how many books apart. I sometimes wish I still had the time to go back and reread whole series when I get the latest book.

The Something Series is filled with witches, vampires, angels and all manner of supernatural creatures and their lore is both consistent with what is currently accepted and of Kester's making. He is faithful to his worldbuilding and I don't know how he manages to keep all those characters, and their prior incarnations straight. The storyboard of characters would be quite impressive to see if he keeps a visual one.

This is definitely a series that you will have to read as a series, and in order, because such a lot happens that you need to have all the pieces.

Trying to write a review long after I have read a book is not ideal but I allowed reading to take a huge priority over writing and I am a long way behind. This was a review I started but never got to finishing so I'm going to try and get some things finished, some things started and a little closer to caught up.

Kester pays great attention to detail in the clothing and appearance of his characters and I'm sure every colour of the rainbow makes it into these pages, and hair colour is especially vivid.

Something Disguised is filled with action, every page is packed with it, so if you want a read that will keep you on your toes then this one will definitely offer that. But I would suggest reading Something Wicked and Something Secret first, and keeping a bookmark in the cast notes at the front of the book, you may need it.
