State tranquilli: il secondo volume è già in vendita.
When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.
Lily Archer believes in fairies, mermaids, and fierce fae warriors. Armed with nothing more than her imagination and a well-worn MacBook, she intends to slay the darkest beasts of the fantasy worlds and create true love where none seemed possible. Visit me at www.lilyarcherauthor.com
that feel when your roommate drugs you and you wake up in the fae realm and some random winter king is calling you his mate but you gotta get home to take your finals. ya know.
"I dont belong here. I'm in college. I have classes. And exams. And bills to pay. And Friends reruns to watch. And a roommate to strangle." -our heroine about to be abducted. #relatable #shesjustlikeme
The heroine was a huge dope and the writing was immature. Let's just say I that the only way I would have enjoyed this was if I was 14 years old. *sigh* Add this to the DNF pile.
This one really appealed to me and though of novella length captured my imagination and attention almost instantly here. This is the story of Taylor and Leander: Taylor a human girl finds herself transported to the world of the fae taking the place of another changeling. Here she comes to the attention of Leander the Winter King who recognises her as his mate.
So as I mentioned this was short and I do believe this and the second book would have been better served as one complete volume rather than two novellas: still I really enjoyed this immensely and even though I don't often give high stars to short reads this made enough of an impression on me that I just had to go with my gut here. This was actioned packed and also had some interesting secondary characters introduced here. I am starting the next instalment here immediately. You can currently borrow this and book two with your KU subscription if you have one.
i think the author really should have just made this serial/novella series into one novel. little happens in these 100 pages and there's no sex so to categorize it as romance is a little misleading.
the writing was just okay. the characters were kind of bland caricatures. and overall i just wasn't invested in this story. it wasn't objectively bad but from an enjoyment standpoint this is just a 2 star for me.
He watches me swallow it down, then holds his hand out for the empty glass. When I reach out to give it to him, he stills, his eyes narrowing. Ferocious. That’s the only word for the look on his face. I clutch the fur and scoot away from him. With fluid fury he reaches to the table behind him and draws an enormous silver sword. A choked sound catches in my throat as he raises it. I’m going to die. “Please, don’t.” It’s the only words I can get out as he lunges toward me.
Quite good I must say. I've read tons of fae books by now and this one held my attention all the way. I'm interested in what's coming next, but most of all I feel like Taylor's got secrets of her own and she even doesn't know that she has them. I want them revealed. Dope.
I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see how this would play out. It gives you action and romance and keeps you wanting more. I love the characters and how the storyline is progressing. My only negative thing to say is that it was too short, but thank goodness book two is already out!
Having just finished a novella in a series that's exclusively standalone novellas I wasn't holding out much hope for this book (considering this is a novella-length novel). I was so surprised by how much I ended up liking this though. I loved the amount of world build and plot development in this for a novella.
For being thrown in a whole other world Taylor has some spunk to her. Though she does get hit and overall hurt quite a few times there are times when she succeeds in fighting back. I'm really interested in seeing what kind of future she has in this new world.
Leander is something, I'll give him that! He's a big brute of a guy but he saves Taylor and treats her relatively well. He's not pushy or overbearing. He's trying to have her adjust to him and their situation and that was sweet and respectful of him.
I knew walking into this book that it was going to end in a cliffhanger. From the reviews I've read for future books in this series, it's a tactic the author uses to string the reader along. I can't say I loved it because I didn't. The worst part was that it ended mid-fight. That's the worst type of cliffhanger. For now, I'll continue on this series but I would appreciate it if these cliffhangers went away.
My Favorite Quote:
"I'm not a queen. I don't even feel like an adult half the time."
The writing was stiff & cringe-y, especially in the beginning but it started to mellow out as it went. Not too much, as I still felt my skull tingling still, but just enough to make me not want to do unpleasant things to it.
That ⤴ applies to the whole thing: characters, plot and the likes. Way too short for me to tell anything more. All in (very short) all:
Twenty year old Taylor, chemical engineering college student, supplements her income private tutoring and renting out her spare bedroom though her roomie is a messy slob who seems to be using her college experience partying and interviewing to be the next Mrs somebody or another, but she pays her bills which is the only reason Taylor tolerates her.
When her roomie offers to pay Taylor more than she'd earn tutoring to be her designated driver to and from an Omega Nu house party, Taylor is suspicious but money is money. Any concern that her roomie might overindulge or get drugged is not the case when it's Taylor who gets drugged, waking up in a cage in somebody's basement though the snakelike body with a torso of a man jailer could just be a residual effect of the drugs. Time to wakee wakee Taylor.
King Leander of the Winter Realm has come to the Summer Realm seeking an alliance to deal with the problem of fae disappearing in increased numbers. An apparent fool's errand as the majority of disappearances have occurred in the Winter Realm making it a low priority for Queen Aurentia who seems to be enjoy making him wait on her decision.
Just when it appears a deal is imminent, Leander scents his fated mate, a changeling slave. To procure her he'll have to break off negotiations and probably kill off those who would keep her from him as she is a slave to one of the Queen's nobles.
As is the case for any who are lucky enough to find their one fated mate, Leander needs to bond with Taylor to avoid the curse that would make him feral otherwise. Freeing her and escaping to his kingdom is first step as the actual bond between the two can wait until he has Taylor safely in his territory.
Problems arise when it's apparent the mysterious entity responsible for the ever growing number of disappearing fae has set a plan in motion to kill Leander or his intended mate before they solidify their bond. Either will assure Leander is no longer able to stop the the king beyond the mountain's ultimate goal to rule all of the realms.

Interesting start to a three (?) part YA trilogy. A parallel alternate universe that is the home of fae and paranormal shifter entities. Those who live there are able, to a limited degree, to travel to our world and vice versa. The mystery-suspense story line does include a romance though, for those who are on a need to know basis, the romance itself if PG-13 rated imho.
While I did appreciate and enjoy the overall world building and characters, the multiple open ended sub plots in the story drew my attention in too many directions. The major cliffhanger ending was further irritating which leads me to believe that this is a serial series, which I'm never a fan of.
Taylor & Leander, c*ck blocked multiple times by their side kicks, had chemistry though I really would have liked to have seen more heat to back up the insta-love (on Leander's part) premise. Taylor had a backbone though her naïveté was irritating after a few chapters.
Secondary characters. I would have liked this story more if it had featured Gareth & Lenetia (Beth) with their love/hate relationship. Selene was another character I wanted more of.
For the purchase price, this book provided an enjoyable fantasy reading experience which I would have rated higher if there hadn't been a major cliffhanger that required me to purchase the follow up Road to Winter which is listed on Amazon as 94 page book for $2.99 (which also ends in a cliffhanger requiring purchase of Fae's Captive 3 listed at $2.99 for 100 pages).
My suggestion, for those interested in reading this book, is to wait for the box set to grab the entire story or be frustrated with the cliffhangers as I am.
I can see why there would be angry ratings. I read the ratings before I started and knew this was like a mini-teaser before you start the second book.
No smut, no steam, but world building. It went by quickly and I liked that there was a lot of dialogue. I'll give the next book a go. But if it continues to drag out, I might call it quits after that.
This was a surprisingly good, but short, book. So what’s it about?
Taylor is a human girl who has an unfortunate college roommate, Cecile. After going out with Cecile to a party, Taylor feels odd and passes out. She thinks she was drugged. Turns out, Cecile was a fae, and sent her to the fae realm as a changeling.
Leander is the king of the winter fae, in the summer realm for negotiations. He finds his fated mate in the dungeons and is determined to get her out safely. Unfortunately, she doesn’t speak fae, and his changeling is passable at best.
So why did I like this story.
It has the fated mate trope, but only on Leander’s side. Taylor has a backbone and won’t let his feelings for her interfere with her plan, which is to go home.
I liked the idea of a parallel universe with the fae realm. It was clever.
I am a sucker for books with a language barrier. And Taylor gets a lot of culture shock in the fae realm.
It has a lot of story for a 100 page novel. It ends on a cliffhanger, but book two is already out. It’s hard to say since the whole series isn’t complete, but I wish this was one long book instead of short stories.
If you like fae stories, this one is fun and on kindle unlimited. If you don’t like cliffhangers, you may want to wait until the series is complete and read the box set.
This “book” is split into 4 short novellas. Which I found bloody disrespectful. I wouldn’t pay a dime for these “books”. The story is pretty simplistic. The world building lacks. Most things are given and not explained or described properly. The switch from plot thread to plot thread often felt too abrupt. Like someone screamed cut and we start with a next scene. There are some interesting ideas, but they are rare and often without context and an appropriate background. Several times I got bored and needed to pick the book up at a later time again. The female main character is immature which is reflected in her inner monologues and thought process. To withhold facts to keep a story suspenseful and mysterious, is a good tool often used, yet here it worked counterproductive in many ways and wasn’t used properly.
This whole book felt like, you get the idea, yet you didn’t quite understand it fully to be able to recite it.
Fae's Captive by Lily Archer is book One in the Fae's Captive Series. This starts the story of Taylor and Leander. This story starts with Taylor in the modern time trying to put herself through college. Taylor has a roommate named Cecile who is a nightmare, but nothing she done so far compares to what she has now done Cecile has drugged her and Taylor has woke in a different realm where there are master, slaves and different Faes. Taylor is in a dungeon with a women named Lenetia who tells her where she is and what id going on. But Taylor can't think this is real until her 'master' Lord Tyrios gives her a rough wake up call. Now Taylor is being called a Changeling. Leander is the King of the Fae's and awaits is mate but no fae has met there mate in about 150 years after a curse of sorts happens. When he is going to secure a deal he starts to notice a wonderful smell that he can't place until he meets Taylor. Leander knows immediately that she is his mate. But Taylor who is now scared of the realm is terrified of him especially after seeing is brutal side in action. WOW...this is such a great start to their story. I could not put it down and would not put it down. I am hurrying to the next book to see what is going on next. Loved it!
Overall enjoyable but after the initial rush fades and I had some time to think about it I'm lowering my rating significantly.
To be honest this wasn't what I expected at all. I thought it will be more of a smut fest with very little plot. And while the plot is nothing to write home about Fae's Captive had more of that than the title or the cover would have suggested.
Personally I don't think it should have been a separate novel as it's way too short. Add the cliffhanger and it only annoys the reader. On the other hand it was captivating enough for me to pick up the second book.
This is the first fantasy book I read. I begin by saying that it has been an entertaining read, with humor, suspense and a lot of magic. Leander is a lovely alpha fae and very protector. He is the king of the winter kingdom. So far only this kingdom and the summer kingdom have been mentioned. Which makes me think that there will be more kingdoms related to real-world stations in the next books. World where Taylor lives.
Taylor is a college student with a slightly strange roommate, Cecile. It seems that her came into her life with a purpose she served.
One day Taylor gets up in a world completely different and that is when her adventure begins.
I loved the primary and secondary characters. The plot is good, although it needed a description or construction of the most developed fae world. Even so, I enjoyed it and kept my interest to continue the whole story.
I did not expect that! Given how short this book is I one, didn’t expect to get so engaged and two, didn’t think there would be much to the characters at this point. And man I was wrong! Not only is the story quick paced enough to keep it entertaining but it’s giving us just enough setting and world to keep us feeling like we know enough, but keep the mystery alive to what is going on in the greater world. With the fuel POV we are gifted with a Fae who can tell use important things and also a human who needs to know as much as we do. So it keeps the info flowing without being info-dumpy. And that ending!! Obviously continuing on to the next one.
Decent introduction. It definitely has promise, and I found both Leander & Gareth to be very interesting characters. Taylor was harder to get a read on, and as the main character that doesn’t exactly bode well, but I can see this story grow.
Taylor is a college student and finds herself in the Fae realm after one unlucky night where one highly menacing looking Fae warrior king sets his sights on her.
Read: 30/08/2020 1st rating: 3 stars Genre/tropes: Fae/paranormal/romance/fated mated Cover: 4 stars POV’s: Dual 1st person (Taylor & Leander) Will I recommend: Yes
What an adventure! I can see this becoming another favourite series of mine!
I adore this story and the world of Fae. Taylor is just an ordinary girl at Uni. She keeps to herself and works hard. It's a pity her room mate doesn't have the same work ethic; always out partying and making her life a misery. Until one night when Cecile convinces Taylor to be her driver while she goes out partying. That was when everything changed and she discovered the world of Fae. A world where witches and strange creatures roam, and magic is everywhere. A world where few speak her language, and everywhere she turns, someone wants to harm her. A world where a Fae king takes her under his wing, claiming her as his own. A Fae king who has the body of a God.
Talk about action packed! This story is filled with drama and lust, and a little something to keep you wanting more. I, for one, can't wait for the next installment!
Ignoring the overly cheesy cover, that was actually pretty good! My only complaint is that it was kinda short, but other than that I absolutely loved the characters! Jumping right into the second book since I need to know what happens next😍
I just want to say that I really loved this story. Lily archer is an amazing writer that draws you in her story on the first page. I can’t wait to read more books by this author
2 stars..... What happens happens so fast you cant get bearings on whats going on, there seem to be some interesting characters but no real plot development... I wont carry it on as this book diddn't manage to reel me in and usually any Fae book can grab me... Meh
* I have hidden my review since I talk about the plot and characters. Though, I don't know how much I could be spoiling if I have read only 10%.
Hello.... Does the author even know how to even make the protagonists tolerable?
I can't, even.
This is the point where I stopped reading. It actually, took me longer to write this review then to read 10%.
Dear author, please stop wasting your time and ours by writing such books. And if you still want to write, kindly spend your money more on your editors.....
Verlag: Grey Eagle Publications
Fae's Captive is the first of many books within the Fae's Captive series. All books seem rather short at first glance so I was intrigued enough to see if these will help me reach my reading goal. That being said, I had zero hesitations when it came to jumping into this book. Even though I have a ton of BR books that I'm pushing back because of it. Eh, so many books and so little time guys.
Not going to lie, this book was super short. So short but it was packed with a little teeny tiny punch. There was like zero romance but we did find out that a kind of the winter kingdom found his mate. She is from Earth and has no idea where she is or what the heck is happening to her life. One day she was studying for a test and the next - she woke up in a strange ass world and ends up having a horrible master.
The cliffhanger ends with a kidnapping. More than predictable but eh, on to the next book.
3.5 Okay so we have another naïve virginal h/mate trope going on here- and a prophecy. If Taylor turns out to be a ‘chosen one’, we’ll have hit the trifecta!
But so far I do like the story. We have Taylor, a hard working college student, who was tricked and switched by her fae roommate to become a changeling slave in the fae realms- only to then find herself mated to the king of the winter court.
I’m interested in seeing all of the fae mythology, and monsters that the author comes up with—also I'm curious on how the story develops with the mountain king.
This was really good. Like... REALLY good. I devoured it in a sitting. How have I never read a fae book before? I might need to genre-binge. A little short for me, but I'm excited about continuing the story, getting to the nitty gritty (no sex yet in this book but some sexual tension). He's definitely a possessive alpha but super sweet.
