Il re fae sta facendo breccia in me. Per quanto ancora riuscirò a resistere all’inebriante bacio dell’inverno?
Nota dell’autrice: questo libro è il secondo della serie Prigioniera dei fae. Accertatevi di aver letto prima il libro 1, altrimenti rischierete di perdervi nei boschi incantati con uno scorbutico re fae.
When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.
Lily Archer believes in fairies, mermaids, and fierce fae warriors. Armed with nothing more than her imagination and a well-worn MacBook, she intends to slay the darkest beasts of the fantasy worlds and create true love where none seemed possible. Visit me at www.lilyarcherauthor.com
So Road to Winter continued the story right where we left off in book one. After their interactions with the Obsidian witch Selena Tayler, Beth, Leander and Gareth resume their journey towards the winter kingdom. There is obviously secrets surrounding Taylor: ones that she seems unaware of herself. A mysterious ancient prophecy concerning Taylor so it will certainly be interesting to see where this is ultimately heading.
This does have a sensual and much more animalistic vibe than its predecessor: yet Taylor and Leander are still yet to seal the deal here. Again this was an engaging fun short read: really about sixty to ninety minutes worth depending on your reading speed. Really wish this were longer than the bite-size offerings we are given. No mind this is still such an enjoyable endeavour. This again ended on a cliffhanger so really hope the next instalment is out soon.
There's not much to say if you've read my review of book 1 (here). These seem to be getting shorter as they go and not much happened in the small time frame this novella took place in.
The characters didn't evolve too much. It feels like they're stuck in the same place, to be frank. They seem to be on this never-ending journey and they never get to where they need to go. I wish this novella had been attached to the first book because it would have made things a lot better and I wouldn't feel like I'm being strung along.
The Audio Book:
This wasn't my favorite narration of a book. I'm not a fan of male narrations but between the woman and man narrating this, I prefer his narration. Both don't have much range in accents and voice tones. I started getting lost on which characters were having a conversation because there was barely any differentiation between them. I wouldn't recommend the audio book to this novella. I only picked up this audio because I was having a bad allergy day (that makes reading uncomfortable because my eyes felt like they were on fire).
Fae's Captive: Road to Winter by Lily Archer is book 2 in the Fae's Captive Series. This continues the story of Taylor and Leander, so you really need to read the previous book 'Fae's Captive' to fully understand and enjoy this one. This is such a great series you just don't want to miss out on any of their story. Taylor is still working to deal with the new realm she is in and working to get back home. But her growing feelings and desire for Leander is making it hard to resist his temptation. There is danger too working toward the winter realm. So this continues the underline story in addition to Taylor and Leander working through their feelings. This series i keeping me on the edge of my seat... I need more soon... I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Loved this series~
When will Taylor finally give in to Leander?!! It is all I am waiting for. These books are fun to read. I have no clue of the time period in it so I can't really judge the speech. I just know I am entertained lol Lastly, damn these book for ending with cliff hangers. Now it appears I have to wait a week for the next one.
This novellas definitely keep getting better and better! I'm really enjoying the story so far, the relationship between Taylor and Leander is so cute, I absolutely love them already! Cannot wait for the next part!
Again, lots of potential (although I'd like it if the female MC was a bit more kick ass) but these tiny books feel like you're getting the story piece by piece, which is annoying really!
The journey to the winter realm continued with some action, more creatures, enemies, funny moments and ended in cliffhanger.
The romance between Leander and Taylor is a slow burn one. A loved Leander. But I'm affraid that he is having a blue balls case. Damn! Taylor has been tough, but she will fall for Leander pretty soon.
On the other hand, we have Beth with some occurrences which has given more fun to the story.
I still have interest in this story and want to read the next one. Some criticism I have are the length of the books (Kindle Unlimited made these free for me but others don't have that option), the character development is a bit rushed, and cliffhangers. That said, I still like the story and I want to continue reading.
Fascinating story. All the characters are believable, entertaining and the story is well thought out. It’s got all the essential Fae elements but too short :(
Not a bad read, I’m not dying to know ending because everything about this series I saw coming. Not as interesting as I thought it would be, passing time a guess.
Road to Winter just featured another damn cliffhanger revolving around a kidnapping. Of course I ate it all up but ugh, can the guys just takes the girls as their mates? We all know that they know that they are mates - just seal the deal already dammit!
Other than that, not a lot happened. I honestly have no idea what this series is about but if Taylor gets kidnapped again at the end of book 3 I might just yell at my phone. Maybe if I get some hardcore smut action then I would like it a lot more than I do.
well not much really happened in this one- the books are so short I would call these more like short stories than novels. All we really got was another few assassination attempts, and more pushing for Leander to claim his mate. But its cool, because feral fae instincts?
King Leander has successfully escaped the court of the Summer Realm with Taylor though they won't really be safe until they reach his home in the Winter Realm.
It quickly becomes apparent that there are those who don't want them to reach the Winter Realm. With the aid of his second in command Gareth, Leander is up to the challenge of protecting his mate from Obsidians, attacking beasts, and bounty hunters alike, though they still have to travel through the most dangerous part of their journey, the Red Plains, where the blood thirsty Vundi reside.
The one thing he's not able to do is court Taylor in the manner she deserves, complicated by the fact they speak different languages. Though he's been able to use a translator, how much can one really communicate their love to another in a meaningful way....

This is the second installment in the 'Fae's Captive' series which has the look and feel of a serial series. Additionally, major cliffhanger ending. Impossible to read as a stand alone, readers have to have read Fae's Captive prior to this one.
Enjoyable read though for the purchase price I'd suggest waiting for the box set or risk being as frustrated as I am as the cliffie does make it impossible to get closure without knowing the rest of the story .... and .... the mystery element solution.
In previous book I felt Gareth & Beth were stand out secondary characters. In this one I have fingers crossed for Selene & Brannon. Two possibles which give me thoughts that this series will have an unlimited of possible future installments before I can get closure.
This one was so much better than the first! The first was super interesting already and I definitely wanted more. And this book didn't disappoint! I am super into this story!
This book starts exactly where the first ended. Leander is battling the Obsidian Witch with Gareth along side of him. And throughout the book there's adventure and action around every corner! I don't want to go into any more details than that. Lol. Because it'll spoil everything. Haha.
I am definitely loving this story so far! I need the smut though! I can taste it! It's coming people and I am SO THERE FOR IT! This sexual tension is making me want to rip my hair out! Haha. I just wish the books were combined? Maybe I don't. I don't know. All I know is I am devouring these things! :D
This is book 2 of the serial, Fae's Captive, and picks up where book 1 left off, i.e. Taylor and the Fae Winter King and their entourage fleeing the summer realm. Road to Winter is about their journey to the winter realm. In part 2, Taylor and Leander (the winter king) grow closer and sexual tension builds. Leander has always wanted Taylor (he recognizes her as his mate from the start), but now Taylor begins to develop strong feelings for him.
Relationships deepen between secondary characters, who are very interesting, too.
And, we have another cliffhanger to hook the reader. A good read. I enjoyed the creativity and world-building. Great characters.
I like this series so far. I wish the books were longer. In fact, I would have preferred this to be either one long book or two books instead of 4. I do wish a few more terms were explained, what exactly is finding your mate, politics, what about Spring and Autumn. Geography, where are the mountains in correlation to the season realms, more of this feral nature; bond and magic wise, more on this bond thing, more on the classes of Fae, and a few other items. I hope these will come about in the other books. Also this is a slow burn romance.
This one wasn’t as magical as the first one I’ll be honest up front. It’s a traveling story where the other one was split between a court and then an escape. But because of that we are linda caught between just riding horses and sleeping and then some banter in between. The obsidian witch didn’t tell us just what Taylor is which is annoying AF but I still have hope that we might get some resolution? Fingers crossed and onto the next one.
This book continues the love story of Leander and Taylor. I really wish the author would have just made this a single, longer, book rather than 4 installments. But it will keep you captivated and there is a cliff hanger. These books must be read in order or they won’t make a lot of sense.
I am LOVING this series. Dark fae, witches, high courts & fated mates. It’s a fantastic slow burn that has everything I love about fantasy. Can’t wait for book 3.
This is book 2 in the series and I would highly recommend reading the first book before diving into this book or you will be very confused. I did not care for the ending again with this book, I hate cliffhangers haha I did like how we learned more about Taylor and her background. The two, Taylor and Leander are starting to open up to each other more than just the mating calls. In this book, I noticed there being more with the other two main characters, Gareth and Beth so maybe they will be something with them coming up. I hope we get some more answers in the next book
Leander and Taylor's story continues and I really enjoy the world's set-up! The creatures and the lore are awesome even if each installment is a little short for my taste.
