I read these books during the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic. Their sweetness and hope has kept me sane. I have a mother in a nursing home, two twenty something daughters and a registered nurse for a husband. The way God’s goodness and His word we’re woven into these stories touched my heart. It seemed like the scripture the author used to encourage her characters were the very scriptures I needed to be reminded of during this trying time. Yet the stories gave me a reprieve from the turmoil in our world.
Deep character development and great storylines. With some "laugh out loud" characters and animals, as well as deep soul searching moments. Janet Ferguson did a good job of making sure everything comes together at the end. There was a time or two that the ending seemed rushed but everyone was happy at the end and overcame their problems. I liked her descriptions of things and how she made Sarah Beth have mixed up saying to Elinor Elizabeth talk as if she were living in a Regency novel. These helped me understand them better and relate to these ladies. Now if you are still reading this then I will tell you I'm not an animal person. They are cute and fun to watch from afar off for me. However, I enjoyed the random and distinctly different animals that appeared in these stories. They made me laugh. Thank you.
This is a series of four novels linking friends who live or visit the same small southern town. The first two novels had very interesting and believable characters, as did the fourth one. All of the books were faith filled and had one or more characters either finding grace or coming back and building on faith. The third book just did not keep my interest. The two main characters were very young, their problems made worse by immaturity. All in all, the series is well written, faith filled, and good reading.
As someone raised in Mississippi and Louisiana, the setting of these books are very familiar. I started reading these clean romantic books and didn’t stop until I read all of them. Wonderful characters and storylines permeate these books.
It reads a bit like life - messy, hard, sad, funny, traumatic, blessed: where characters grow and God makes the difference to result in a happy ending. Really enjoyed reading them. Definitely interested in more of her books if they are like these 👍
What a great collection of stories. Each book has it's own couple, linked to a small town, and a sweet, happily ever after. Each has it's own set of personal issues or trauma to work through and keep you engaged in the plot.I have loved watching this community grow. Do miss this series!
These stories were woven together so well that it made me think I'd hit the jackpot with 4 good books at the same time! Believable characters with real struggles. Thoroughly enjoyed all of these books.
I liked that the characters were relatable with realistic human flaws, struggles and strengths. The descriptions of people and place were excellent, allowing me to be delightfully transported and fully immersed in this series!
Once you begin this series, you won't stop until you are finished. I enjoyed meeting the characters in the first book and coming to know them in the ones to follow! This is a set you don't want to miss.
Loved the characters in this, but especially Elinor. She called to me so much - all the characters were human with faults and flaws but they made it through with God's help. No life isn't perfect and we do make mistakes but all the stories showed how God 2ill be there when we ask for his help and trust him. If you need a book to uplift you and give comfort, then this is a great book to do it.
The characters in this story are not everyday people. They all have issues that make life complicated. This was fun to read and I am sure I will remember it as one of my favourites. It means a lot when you find someone you know will be with through the good and bad times. This was a good journey down some difficult roads but was well worth the trip.
Wonderful stories that shows how having faith and trust in God can make a difference in one's life. Filled with strong characters whose faith grows and over comes some difficult moments.
I enjoyed these stories as much for the characters and romance plots as for the topics they raised such as ptsd, the repercussions of rape and human trafficking. Well worth reading.
All four of the Southern Hearts series by Janet W. Ferguson have words of Faith and Hope. They are written with substance and not just platitudes and cliches.
