Ex-Special Forces soldier and mercenary Flo Michetti is bored with her assignment as a pilot for the genetically engineered Badari pack in their fight against the evil Khagrish scientists. She jumps at the chance to take a dangerous undercover mission. She infiltrates a group of human prisoners on their way to a secret lab in the southern ocean, where the Badari believe many more of their own kind have been created and are being experimented on. Once Flo has located the lab, found the Alpha among the Badari there and sent a report back, the plan will be to attack and rescue all the prisoners.

Arriving at the island Flo learns the true nature of the horrific experiment for which the humans have been brought to this remote location. Time will be perilously short to escape before it’s too late for all of them. She has to locate the Alpha of this captive southern pack, who conceals his identity to escape death at the hands of the Khagrish, and get him to join with her and her allies.

Daegan feels an instant attraction to Flo when the Badari and the humans are forced together by the Khagrish scientists, but there are mysteries and questions surrounding her. Before he reveals himself as the incognito Alpha she’s seeking, he wants answers to allay his doubts. He also wants Flo in his bed…but can he risk his heart to claim her as his mate?

Complicating the situation is a dangerous rival for Daegan’s position as Alpha, an oncoming hurricane and Flo’s resistance to abandoning her life as a soldier of fortune…as the Khagrish scientists prepare to initiate the experiment, the clock is ticking for humans and Badari alike.

Author Note: There is an incident in this novel where a supporting character unsuccessfully attempts to commit suicide by drowning.

This is the eleventh book in the Badari Warriors world (and the tenth book in the numbered series) and each novel has a satisfying Happy for Now ending for the hero and heroine, not a cliffhanger. Some overarching issues do remain unresolved in each book since this is an ongoing series but romance always wins the day in my novels!

Daegan (Bardari, alpha Southern Pack) & Flo Michetti (pilot, “I’m a mercenary, ex-Special Forces.”)

Flo is given a special assignment she is uniquely qualified for. Aydarr needs a human female he can slip into a delivery of female prisoners headed to the facility Fierce came from. She is to make contact with the local alpha and get the local Bardari prepared for a rescue mission. The problem, the Khagrish scientists have suppressed the Bardari’s need for a pack structure, killing off those showing alpha tendencies. In other words, the alpha is hiding in plain sight, and Kierce is not the best at providing an accurate physical description.

Luckily for Flo, the experiment on tap is creating breeding pairs in order to create Bardari the old fashioned way. And given the “group of boys meets group of girls” mixer takes place in the local Bardari’s version of the Preserve, a beachside paradise, the initial meet and greet is hardly a hardship. Flo picks out her contender for alpha fairly easily. He is sitting off to the side, but she can feel the power in his presence.

Flo intrigues Daegan from the start. She stands apart from the other women and when two of the Bardari push things a little too far with one of the more fragile women, she’s quick to jump in and protect her sister. Because he must not visibly act as alpha, Daegan has a few troublemakers who play at being leaders in exchange for concessions from the Khagrish. After Flo interferes with their fun, a few words from Daegan have them walking away from the situation.

The next morning, Daegan finds Flo stretching to jog along the beach where he exercises regularly. They spend time together, deciding that they will pair off for the experiment. So when some of the women persuade the Khagrish to have a speed dating style get-to-know-you, a bit more structured than the mixer of the precious day, Flo finds herself speed dating the alpha and Bardari who are clearly his enforcers. A clear sign that she has Daegan’s interest.

One of the women is married and is near suicidal over the idea she must couple up with a Bardari, so when she swims away from the shore, with the intension of drowning herself, Flo dives in after her. Fortunately, Daegan has eyes on her, because they both underestimate the natural predators in the water. Daegan drags Flo to shore while his enforcers wrestle with the sea creature.

In the aftermath of that adventure, Daegan gets Flo to admit that there is something between them and they need to talk. The next day Daegan finds Flo on the beach. They play in the waves, before things start to turn sexual. Flo interrupts Daegan’s sexual interest by addressing him as alpha in Bardari.

They rode three sets of waves and then Daegan caught her by the wrist in the shallows, pulling her closer.

She went willingly, enjoying the feeling of his hard, muscular body pressed against hers and the impressive bulge between his legs showing the effect she had on him. Her underwear might be pretty revealing today but his scanty loincloth wasn’t doing much to conceal his package either. Looping her arms around his neck, she indulged herself in one kiss.

Daegan wasn’t about to settle for a chaste peck on the lips, pushing his tongue against her lips and holding her tight.

With a soft sigh, she parted her lips and allowed him to plunder her mouth while she savored the spice that was Daegan to her. Her knees were weak by the time the caress ended and he began kissing her neck and shoulder.

“What happened to ‘we have to talk’?” she asked with a laugh, forcibly restraining herself from touching the massive cock pressing against her, an invitation to intimacy too plain to ignore. “I wasn’t kidding—we do have to talk.”

“Later,” he murmured, moving one hand to knead her breast while he pumped his hips against her, grinding his erection against her mound in a movement amplifying her own desire, craving more direct contact to soothe the ache at her core.

If there was one thing she was sure of, Daegan would never forgive her for making love to him and then revealing who she really was. “Alpha, there are things we must say to each other.” She deliberately spoke in Badari.

Daegan pulled back as if she’d shot him with a blaster. “How is it you speak Badari?” he asked, his voice suspicious.

Flo disengaged herself from his now slack grasp and stepped to her jumpsuit, saying over her shoulder, in fluent Badari, “I learned from a pack up north.” Turning to stare at him, she added, “Kierce says hello and to tell you he still has the scar on his hip where he fell amongst the rocks.”

The next day, many of the Bardari — Daegan included — were held back from the speed dating event to help prepare for the oncoming tropical storm. Flo found herself faced with one of the troublemakers who declared he wanted Flo for himself. The conflict between them had the guards taking his side and punishing Flo. When Daegan heard of this, he left his storm prep assignment to go to Flo. He declaired them paired off and they claimed one of the cabins awaiting their use.

After dinner with some of the Bardari, Daegan and Flo take their relationship into a sexual direction. Talk of mating, but no pressure on that front. The next day Daegan returns to storm prep and Flo tries to surf, despite Daegan asking her not to swim alone. Unfortunately, the sting of a sea creature leaves her collapsed on the beach, dying.

When Daegan finds her, his healer is pessimistic about her chances of surviving. She asks for a transfusion. As Daegan already considers her his mate-to-be, there is no hesitation on his part. It works. Unfortunately the first telepathic voice she hears is a warning from Daegan's enforcer. Daegan has been betrayed, called out as alpha.

Flo runs at Daegan’s prompting and Daegan is taken away to be punished. Leaving Flo to mount a rescue mission of her own before the greater rescue of the Bardari as a whole.

Flo, pilot, special forces, mercnary. Flo is awesome. Very cool in combat. Practical dealing with people. She is very smart. Reagan is a powerfu! Alpha. He keeps his status a secret of the Kagrish will kill him. Flo is assigned a undercover task to find and test possible allies in the Southern pack. There is a breeding program being forced upon human and Badari. Reagan and Flo discover each other immediately. The Khagrish are evil jerks. Flo and the Northern pack save the day. Loved it!!!

I love how Veronica Scott keeps the Sectors New Allies series fresh and new. This is book 10 and the story is the same. Daegan and Flo have just met and are mates. OK that sounds dull but it is anything but. The setting, the conflict, the tension and the romance are all different from previous stories. Great addition to the story line and I see a lot of new possibilities with the action of Daegan and his pack.

Excellent as ever

I love the Badari books and this one maintained the standard set by the others. Flo is a wonderfully talented and powerful female. And the fact that she saved her mate made me grin. I always like it when women rescue their men.

The tenth addition to the Sectors New Allies series by Veronica Scott. The Badari have learned that there may be more Badari warriors being kept prisoner in the south. Ex-soldier Flo Michetti is sent to infiltrate the human prisoners being sent to the southern island and find any sign of a possible alpha. Daegan is an Alpha but cannot reveal this as the alphas in his pack are killed. The Badari and human women are put together in an effort for them to mate and conceive. The Khagrish are clueless as to how the mate bond works.

I cannot stress how much I love this series. Highly recommended to Sci-fi romance lovers!

Badari Warriors Series

I have read nineteen of these wonderful books so far. They are well written and keep you on the edge and intrigued until the very end. Each warrior and his or her mate are unique and their stories are extremely exciting. I cannot wait for the next more to be published. Thank Veronica for your passion and talent.

Action packed, great world building, and fantastic characters. I love this series. Ms. Scott tugs on the reader's heart with how the Badari warriors were treated. The women who rescue them are brave and strong. Flo fulfills that description. I love how she volunteers for this dangerous assignment.
