Janet's true life story in "Taking a Stand" has opened my eyes up that I was not the only person in this world who was walking in this path of medical complications and triumphs on raising above these challenges no matter where it may lead. She has given hope to a soul who thought no one would understand, she has taught me to have a active role in my medical issues by not just listening to a doctor but taking a active role and not being afraid to get a second or thrid opinion... with that I have been able to take a stand in my health issues and with that my family and I are so thankful. We count our blessings and laugh more than ever... We are now able share with others that they are able to take a stand as well.

Janet, my life has been blessed by your story of triumph no matter the challenge. I am so grateful for you, thank you for fighting the good fight and sharing it with the world.

It was interesting to see how the medical and legal system work in the U.S. I felt that I could somewhat relate to Janet and am inspired by her strength and courage.

Janet writes a very honest book about her personal experience with medical malpractice. Instead of remaining a victim at the hands of a dishonest doctor who almost left her without use of her legs, she became an advocate and single-handedly changed the law. Janet's story takes the reader from her first surgery and believing her doctor's words: "God made you this way," to learning that her years of suffering were actually a medical mistake. Janet doesn't stop here. She goes on her on search for truth and justice. Even though the mistakes of the surgery are irreversible, Janet moves forward to live a victorious life. This book will encourage anyone facing the medical system and insurmountable obstacles.

She has a pretty amazing story. The problem I have with the book is that it seems more like something you'd find in a textbook but much more dragged out. There wasn't really any emotion; it wasn't personal. It was like she stepped back and simply told what happened. A factual report, not much more.

I admire her determination, sympathize with her plight; but the book didn't do much for me. It could've been so much more. It could've been more real. But it wasn't.

I am amazed at her determination to choose a life of joy and to not what happened to her define who she is today! She stood up to a legal system that was wrong and with God's abundance was victorious.
