This book is a treasure for one and all who seek wisdom and peace. It would also be a treasure for those who might wish to seek such gifts, but do not. It is for everyone longing for change and/or transformation... something we would all be well advised to pursue!
Everyday Buddhism is an invitation to improve one's own life. Written in a very down to earth style, the author skillfully presents the kinds of issues we all face and offers the reader pathways to shift behaviors and practices. What I love is that Haylett does not write from "on high" as one with all the answers. What I love is that she is the one that can articulate the questions and offer options in ways I know that I do not always think of myself.
To that end, it is like being invited on a journey with a dear friend. You may start out wondering why you are doing this, but before long, you are enjoying every step of the way. Everyday Buddhism is an invitation to a better way of living, without feeling like you have to be a spiritual master. It is a book that has the potential to introduce you to yourself in ways you never imagined. I highly recommend this to people of every faith or not faith and every stripe!
Loved the simplicity. Very practical guides to enhance whatever your want to call yourself Not a book you finish and put on your shelf.. one I will read and re read and read again and again.
Buddhism isn't a set path. It's filled with loving advice to make you and the ones that surround you have more of a sense of well being. He explains and then rewords key ideas making those ideas a lot more clear. You won't find his explanations anywhere else. Great source for a beginner and I would suspect an advanced Buddha would love to read his crafty explanations. 🪷
The author achieves a nice balance of useful, impartial information and ease of accessibility through brevity. This is an easy read that is a great primer for the new comer or a refresher for the seasoned initiate.
This is a great book that not only introduces the reader to basic Buddhist concepts, but also ways to integrate them into your everyday life. I also like that she leaves wiggle room to personalize practices to your own life.
This book lays out the Buddhist way in a simple way. It is easy to understand and integrate into your daily life, even if you don’t want to be a monk but live more fulfilling life.
