Yes, you can learn the skills to effectively lead people, organizations, and employees. With the right motivation and knowledge, you can be a leader who knows what it takes to succeed. I read this book in just a few days. Mr. Hunkins' writing style is clear and engaging, and his use of real-world anecdotes makes the text enjoyable, while helping the reader to relate the stories to his or her own experiences in the workplace. As I was reading the book, I found several practical suggestions for improving my own practice; at the same time, I thought of several people I know who would surely benefit from reading this and taking it to heart! Each chapter ends with a summary/checklist of important points, which makes this book one that I will want to keep nearby as a reference, to ensure that I don't just read it and forget its wisdom. Definitely worth the read.

Next Level Leadership! I just finished this book and know I’ll keep it nearby for frequent consultation. As I’ve advanced into leadership roles I’d always struggled with the fallacy of ‘born leader’ and failed to get much out of tired old leadership consultants who seemed more HR focused. Here are practical and frankly easy ways to improve how I lead. - Brilliant!
Worth the read. Easy to get through and great reminders. Favorite part are the statements at the end of each chapter - like daily intentions to review and restate on your leadership journey
It’s an easy book, and has many practical practices that can improve the effectiveness of a leader. However it doesn’t cover enough on leadership in my opinion. Still a worthwhile book though.
Key ideas are that leadership effectiveness is driven mainly by 1. Connection- which is about empathy and credibility 2. Communication- which is about ensuring alignment and clarity of the speaker, listener and the core message itself 3. Collaboration- which is about driving the motivators of team members
