DNF 38%

But for getting through that 38% I'm giving myself a "read" instead of a "couldn't even finish" like I usually would.

I'm not a big fan of savaging authors just because I didn't happen to care for their book, but in this case... To lean on Dorothy Parker, this wasn't just plain terrible, this was fancy terrible. This was terrible with raisins in it."

First and foremost, the very premise of the story is that there is a type of being that can shift into a wolf but who is Not a werewolf but a "woelfin," that needs to cart its pelt around in order to be able to change into wolf form. So the protagonist spends as much of the book as I made it through carting the thing around, fighting with it because it can move on its own, and dropping it, and having it get in her way, and... you get the picture. And no one seems to notice that she has draped over her shoulders, or over her arm, or wherever, because really, why would they? It's bound to blend in with whatever she's wearing... The very ridiculousness of this concept pretty much spoiled the book for me from the beginning. It just doesn't work. I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but things still have to make some sense. This didn't. On any level.

Moon Stalked is the first book in the Moon-Crossed Wolves urban fantasy series.

This story offers something a little different in the shifter sub-genre of fantasy tales. Honor uses her wolf pelt to help her shift and the fur can also be used to heal her family.

The story opens as Honor seeks her cousin’s stolen pelt. Without it he has become seriously ill and time is running out if it cannot be found. In her search Honor meets a lone werewolf who insists he wants to help. She’s wary of him at first, but when she gets into trouble she must accept his offer for her family’s sake.

Honor’s search takes her to a human family where a son is dying from cancer. The pelt has definitely been in the house, but Honor cannot trace it again. The story is complicated by a series of murders and the clock is ticking for Honor’s cousin as he weakens by the day.

This story has a hint of romance but the main theme revolves around the mystery of the missing wolf pelt and the strength of found family. I liked the road that this tale took, but at times I missed a plot point or two which caused a bit of confusion.

Wolves, some werewolves, some needing wolfsfells to shift. The wolves needing wolfsfells would die without them. One such wolfsfell was stolen and the wolf was dying. Trying to find the location of the wolfsfell turned out to be very difficult, people were getting killed. Good characters, good storyline.

I like that the book gives an interesting twist to the typical werewolf book. At least for me, it's a fresh concept and I liked how it was managed, even if the characters were kind of annoying with how they missed obvious clues, I mean, they do work as bounty hunters.
I felt like there were some loose ends, and that some things were not really clear, but overall, it was interesting, fresh and something I wouldn't mind reading more about.

A totally WOW wolf/changer story

This story was unlike any I had ever read. At first I was beginning to think - Uh, no.....then it reached and grabbed me. I think that this writer wrote a really fresh story and had a really fresh heroine. I like it!

Who done it furry

A completely new take on the furry paranormal. Excellent who done it, with a longer underlying quest for the protagonist. This series looks to be more inventive and thoughtful than usual. Good read!

I loved honor - the plot was ok - I want to know what happens next

The plot was ok, but I really loved honor. I just wish that her family loved her too.

Some spoilers about the relationships.

Grace is a bitch to do what she did to her sister and I hope the stupid person realizes just how much her twin loves her. Her family has punished her for years and they take no responsibility themselves.

Honor is a great character who made one mistake when she was basically a kid and her entire family punished her for it even though everything she does is for them.

I plan on reading the next one, but grace better shape up and learn what family is and family is standing by honor her sister instead of tearing her apart.

I will buy the next one and I hope grace realizes what she throws away.

It felt like a very difficult read. I just couldn't get into the story and I think it should have a good concept however the pacing is all over the show, the conversations feel awkward and there are no explanations.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish it because it has given me a headache.

Confusing and disorganized. The constant shifting and the device of the need to carry her wolf pelt was incredibly distracting. No interest in continuing the series.

This is the first book in Aimee Easterling’s Woelfin Awakening series. It can be read as a standalone, although it ends on a mild cliffhanger with several plot threads not fully resolved. As always, Ms. Easterling has produced a fun, suspenseful shifter story with an exciting plot.

I enjoyed being introduced to a new mythological creature, the woelfin (human/wolf shifters who depend on a removable pelt, somewhat like a selkie’s). It took me a little while to understand this new mythology, but it kept the story interesting.

I liked the characters well enough, although I wasn’t initially crazy about our main character, Honor. I was actually more interested in her twin and her cousins, although Honor did grow on me as the story progressed. And I immediately fell in love with Luke, but then I was already in love with him from reading his origin in the short story, Thirteenth Werewolf. I look forward to seeing how the pack dynamics change over the course of this series.

This relatively quick, fast-paced read held my interest from beginning to end and kept me guessing. It offers lots of action, mystery, surprises, a hint of romance, and a few laughs. I’m always a little frustrated when a book ends on a cliffhanger, but at least the major plot points of this story are resolved. I will definitely read the following book to see what happens next, and I hope that all of the open threads will be resolved by the end of the series.

This book contains some violence, minimal swearing, and sexual suggestiveness but no explicit sexual content.

If you enjoy this, I highly recommend checking out Thirteenth Werewolf and Other Stories, which includes Luke’s wonderful prequel story.

I volunteered to review an advanced reader copy of this book provided to me by the author.

What a refreshingly different type of Werewolf story. Honor is part of a small family of shifters who shed their skins like Selkies in order to walk around as humanoids. Due to her negligence while younger, her family all lost their skins and are stuck in human form. But her cousin Bastian is dying because someone is using his skins, and Honor is willing to run herself into the ground finding his skin.

She uses her nose in wolf form to scour the city, and her family depends upon her while simultaneously reminding her that Honor is at fault. While scouting a real werewolf finds her and tags along with her investigation. It is not exactly Sherlock and Holmes, but he makes every attempt to get Honor comfortable with his presence.

There was enough action and suspense to keep the story moving. I especially like the comparison between these ground selkies, Woelf-kin, and real werewolves. The societies are different, the physical characteristics are different. I also liked the subplot between Honor and her distrust of the human bounty hunter, who is determined to find all her secrets, but his snooping gets in the way of catching the murderer. The murderer is also a fascinating sketch in how-to-create-a-supervillain. Totally cool.

The romance is decidedly G-rated. Although I feel the connection, I found the touch of a wrist or thumb swirl not salacious enough for me. This could be a pre-teen read.

It was a fun one-off. I don’t think I would read a series, but I liked this story.

This book was a refreshing and unique twist on the normal shifter story. Don't worry, you get to see a regular werewolf too, but this book is all about the woelfin. What makes them different is that in order to change into their wolf they must use a pelt and wrap it around themselves in order to change. And when they are in their human form they don't have access to all the extra traits/abilities that their wolves have. Honor's pack is made of her twin sister Grace, her, and their twin cousins Bastion and Justice. When Bastion's stolen pelt is used, it begins to steal his lifeforce. Their only hope is to recover it in time to save his life. Honor's everyday job as a bounty hunter makes her capable of this mission, but it will take her whole pack working together to pull off this task. To further complicate matters, there's a human bounty hunter that gets pulled into the mess and the mysterious werewolf Luke who keeps popping up until they decide to team up. Lots of action and plenty of mystery in this story as they race against the clock to figure out who has Bastion's pelt and recover it before it's too late. Plus you have the budding romance between the unlikely allies of Honor and Luke making for an all together great story. I can't wait to see what's next for these characters!

Honor is a twin who is a wolf when she uses a pelt to cover her naked body. Her twin, Grace, on the other hand cannot transition because 10 years ago her pelt and their parents and a cousin's pelt were stolen from their home. Their parents died and now the cousin, Bastion, is dying because someone has stolen his pelt. His twin, Justice, is trying his best to help find his pelt so that he doesn't die. Justice is studying to be a lawyer and Grace is a fashion designer but she hates her sister because of what happened 10 years ago. In the process of hunting down Bastions' pelt Honor meets Luke who turns out to be a true werewolf or what her kind, woelfing, call skinless. They track the pelt to a rich family's estate where the son is a dying of leukemia and the parents are trying their best to keep him alive. But then deaths kept happening surrounding the family and Honor needed to find out who was killing people who somehow have interacted with Honor. In the end the killer turns out to be someone who seemed not to be able to do the things they did and the Smythwhites themselves have no ideal what's going on in their own household. At the end of the story we start to meet Luke's family and we get an insight into the next book.

ONE REFRESHING EXPERIENCE!!!
Crap on toast! Aimee waxed the base, strung the link and lined the bow weaving a web so intricately and tight until everything else ceases to exist. She absolutely nailed all of the emotions swirling through this bad boy running rampant unchecked that leaves you reeling and wanting more. A unique spin showcasing this baby with such refreshing realism, catapulting this jewel to life effortlessly. Pushing forward with such perfection escalating this baby to staggering heights with it's intensely compelling storyline and intertwined plot. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that make it easy to relate. The personalities are well matched and blended together smoothly. The scenes are so graphically detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that feels as though you're right there with them. Fantastic job Aimee, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

This sounds like it is going to be an interesting series. A little different kind of wolf shifter plays the leading role. Honor can turn into a wolf by wrapping her wolfsfell pelt around her. Unfortunately, her cousin, Bastion, has lost his wolfsfell and Honor is determined to find it before he wastes away and dies. Her twin sister, Grace, and her cousin's twin, Justice, can offer two legged support, but they are not her biggest fans. She meets a real werewolf (a "skinless"), Luke, who seems to stick to her like glue. Woelfin do not trust werewolves, but for some reason Honor trusts Luke to have her back.

I am not going to try to tell you the convoluted story which involves several murders, a kidnapping, and a scheidung (Ha! Figure that one out.) Let's just say there is more to come.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Moon Stalked is Aimee Easterling's 1st book in her next series Moon-Crossed Wolves. True to style, Ms. Easterling gives us yet another unique perspecive into the lore of the wolf, this time with woelfin and skinless wolves. I truly enjoyed how she merged these two factions, all the while juggling murder and mayhem in the human world. The storyline was fast-paced and well written, filled with danger, mystery and intrigue. The characters were well developed and engaging. I was paricularily drawn to Honor, who didn't feel deserving of her name but who strived to live up to it anyway. I can't wait to see what adventures await her in book 2!

A Pleasure to Read.

This story puts an interesting spin on the usual shifter wolf genre and manages to be a gripping who dunnit with a flirt of romance.

The story opens with our MC trying to steal a pelt from a house in order to save her cousin's life. In the process she encounters one very dishy man and the reader is hooked. The quest to save our MC' cousin fast turns into an unable to put it down who dunnit/thriller with a flirt of romance rippling through it.

This book contains neither bad language nor sex and ends in "happily for now." The story is self contained so no cliffhangers but it does continue in the next part which I have already bought.

When her cousin's pelt disappears, Honor is duty-bound to find it. She tracks the pelt to a wealthy family. She turns aside as Luke catches her. He offers to help. But werewolves and wolf shifters don't mix. The biggest issue is that Bastion's time is running out.

This Werewolves & Shifters Suspense is admirable. The banter between the main characters is frequently light and fun. As time dribbles away, the relationship grows in strength. The end is sterling.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

While I enjoyed the overall story itself , the hunt for Bastian's pelt and the bounty hunting stuff I didn’t love the whole have to have a pelt to change aspect. Also the constant combination of self-flagellation and guilt tripping with Honor impacted my enjoyment. And NOT a fan of the dynamic between Grace & Honor. I wouldn’t turn down the chance to read the next book but I am not in a hurry to seek it out. I will say this is not my favourite of Aimee’s stories so if it was your first and you weren’t keen definitely given her other series a try.

Storyline was engaging, not your normal werewolf novel.

Writing was good, and it kept me wanting to come back. There were few grammar errors, kept within industry standards.

For my clean readers: language-no f-bomb, per se, but there was a "WTF" in the text messages in the story. Violence included murder, kidnapping, and fighting. One character started drinking blood.
Romance included a few scenes that never actually said what they did, but implied sex. Teenage prostitution was involved as well. Characters were often naked because they were "shifting" and clothes had to be left behind.

I feel like I was missing something. So many people here rating this one highly, but I found it confusing. I can handle the idea of a woelfin but the thought of having to carry your pelt around when not a wolf is a very limiting one. Where I have a problem, though, is when the theft of their pelts caused the four parents to die, why didn’t it have an effect on the three kids who also lost their pelts, and was it that Sebastian’s was used by another person that caused his illness? I am left with too many questions to say that I enjoyed the book.

Yaay!, a fave author, Aimee Easterling, is our with the first book in a new series! Yaay (!), that book, Moon Stalked (Woelfin Awakening, Book 1), is up to her usual standards (that’s a code phrase meaning “fantastically superb”. Yaay (!!), this was a tremendously fun book, with a great plot that’s full of the promised action and adventure (and a “healthy helping of romance”), a perfect cast from Honor and Luke on down and perfect world-building. Definitely (and highly) recommended.

An interesting new series, and it's a great first book. A new dimension to typical werewolf books and it adds some fun. One mistake could cost her cousin's his life, and hers as she tries to steal it back and deal with everything else in her life. Honor will get everything done if she can just stop showing up places naked. The plot is interesting and moves along at a fast pace with enough suspense and interesting characters to keep you reading.

This is the first book in a new series by this author and let me say, this author always keeps me on the edge of my seat with her books. I love the new mythological creatures that she always tosses into her worlds. This book is about a woelfin which is similar to a selkie as they are wolf shifters that depend on a removable pelt. I can not wait to see what is in store for the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book

A woelfin is not the same as a werewolf. The woelfin puts on its pelt when it wants to transform.

Honor is trying to find the pelt of her cousin. She and her pack are fairly sure where the pelt is but they need to retrieve it without letting the werewolves or humans catch them in the act.

It was her fault that the pelt was stolen and so she feels that it will be her fault if her cousin dies through lack of contact with his pelt.

Another great book from Aimee.

An Amazon freebie.
This story wasn't exactly what I'm looking for. I like romance & this story has no romance in it. If you like your books without sex, you should like this one.
This isn't a bad story, I just didn't like the whole pelt thing. There were also a lot of unanswered questions. Who took Bastian's pelt? How did Clarence's mother find it at an estate sale? I didn't like Grace. Not really fond of Justice.

I see this as a series, but not going on
