I am Wynonna Riggs, the Phoenix. Shady Grove's first daughter knows what she is, but finding out who she is, presents a problem.

Wynonna Riggs, daughter of Grace Ann Bryant, travels to the bay city of Steelshore with a group of colleagues to track down the fairy trafficking activities of their unknown enemy. While there, Winnie finds that trafficking isn't the only crime being committed by fairies. A group of Sandhedrin threatens to eradicate the fairies in Steelshore including Winnie herself despite the consequences of pissing off her Fairy Queen mother.

A battle brews between fairy factions inside Steelshore which bubbles over into Winnie's investigation. She's drawn into the dispute, and the life of a new friend hangs in the balance.

Winne focuses on the job while back home trouble is brewing for her best friend, Mark Maynard, Alpha of the Shady Grove pack. She has to choose between her friends at home or her new duties in Steelshore. One thing is for sure, someone will burn. It's just a question whether it will be Winnie's enemies or will her own fire burn out?

With a host of new characters and new adventures, Wynonna Riggs steps into the world as a blazing light along with her friends, Kyrie Babineau, Soraya Harris, and Dominick Meyer. Start Winnie's adventures in First Flame, Stories of Frost and Fire.

It's Winnie's time and this first book of her series is everything fans could have hoped for. There are fan favorites and intriguing new characters. Lots of humor, an ongoing mystery, a couple characters I'm going to love to hate all add up to a must read.

Flame on!

This first book of the spin off series is everything I’d hoped it would be.
Meeting exciting and jntreguing new characters all while following some of our old favorites definitely had me intrigued.
Winnie is the perfect main character for her own series. She has so much growth, so much to learn- figuring out what kind of force she wants to be in the world all while fighting off people who want to see her and her mothers kingdom fall.
Not to mention taking on fairy trafficking that goes so deep in the world around her- First Flame is the perfect set up for a action packed adventurous new series.
I loved everything about this book. Character growth is important to me, and more than just Winnie start to grow into their own.
There were moments of laughter, moments of anxiety and a little heartbreak.
It was great to reconnect with old favorites but even more exciting to form bonds with new characters and “old” characters that are transitioning into big roles of their own.
I can’t wait for Bad Moon Rising and I am chomping at the bit for the second book!
I connected so much with Winnie, truly saw parts of myself in her that it got me thinking about myself and my role in my own life- I can’t tell if I’ll love this series more than the rest.
But I can’t say I’m ready for this adventure.

Stories of Frost and Fire is a spin off series from the awesomely fun Trailer Park series; however, reading one is not a requirement for the other. This book, the first in the series, takes place after the Trailer Park series and is complete in and of itself. Characters from the earlier series appear (in fact the feisty fire-filled Winnie is a prominent character in the previous series but here she is all grown up and on her own) but enough is shared that a new reader will not feel lost.

Winnie is young and still learning about her powers and the world around her. That means she has growing up to do and that she will make mistakes... and learn from them. It's a joy to read Winnie's story.

It is UF with a protagonist who learns and changes. She is able to take care of herself but doesn't push away or dismiss the other characters in the story. They are a team and they work well together.

There is humor, fighting, love, hate, magic, fairy trafficking and more. This is a great first book in the series and I look forward to reading more of them.

I read an ARC of this book and have chosen to review it. I'd say more, but I think I need to go reread it.

This book was the best Winnie book yet. The character development was very good, although since she goes from 6 to 16 it is still hard to understand who she is because she doesn't even know who she is. Some of her characteristics are not believable though because she acts like an adult yet she has only been 1 for less than a year, so the fact that she is still very child-like, stubborn and whiney kind of help sells that she is not yet a fully - grown fairy.
The overall book is good, I liked the story and see how Kimbra will be able to expand upon it. Winnie is still not one of my favorite characters but I am warming up to her.
Couldn't give this a 5 because there were grammatical errors and I don't like when 2 characters are talking back and forth and you aren't sure who is talking because we just have quotation marks.

First, let me preface by saying I received an Advance Copy of the book. I am not required to write this review, nor am I required to give a favorable review.

I've read Kimbra's Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series, and Winnie is one of my absolute favorite characters. The strength she exhibited even as a small child was astounding, and the character never fails to make me laugh.

That being said, this book was amazing! I've been looking forward to it since the author announced the series, and I simply couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed reading about Winnie's adventures, and her interactions with characters familiar to me and otherwise. This is going to be a fantastic series, and I really cannot wait to read the next installment.

A whole new world

Whether you have read the entire Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series (and why haven’t you) or whether you have not read them you may begin with this book and be perfectly fine. Better than fine, in fact, you will be so excited to have found this book that you will be thanking your lucky Star Folk.

If you like the supernatural, strong women, supportive men, action, adventure, intrigue, talking animals and maybe a little love sprinkled in, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend it!

It really appeals to teens and adults so anyone can enjoy it. Stop reading this review and read the book!

Kimbra Swain has taken the magic of her Fairy Tales of. Trailer Park Queen series, and transformed it to the new venue of a city with Winnie, leading the fight to stop Fairy trafficking, with her loyal family behind her. Characters we grew to love are there, with Winnie and Raya, Nick and Kyrie who are adopted by two wine drinking, talking cats ( not shifters). This first story in the series is very action filled, and still manages to relay the extended family core love that Ms Swain is so good at in all her books.

New series that starts with a bang

The first in the Stories if Frost and Fire series (which is a Trailer verse series, if you haven't read Grace's story what are you doing here... It starts with Bless your heart. Go do that first!)
This story is gripping from the get go. I read it in one sitting. It's brilliant, with a different setting to previous books but with a few familiar faces and some very interesting new ones.
Winnie is an amazing character and I can't wait for more of her story

Phoenix and Fairys. Wow awesome book.

Phoenix, Fairys, shifters and some shady cats. This book has it all. Dark, twisted, hilarity and action. Winnie is all grown up (mostly) and striking out on her own to find her way in the world and figure out her powers. She’s snarky, sassy, and powerful. Kimbra has built a wonderful urban fantasy world in Steelshore. The cast of characters are fun and interesting. There are a couple of cats you’ll enjoy getting to know. Laugh out loud fun with action and adventure, magic and mayhem. Can’t wait for more in this amazing series.

Sometimes making your own way hurts. Winnie hits Steelshore to find her own path via fighting against the faerie trafficking ring using these ports. But she faces these dangers harboring questions and doubts regarding the limits of her powers. A sort of supernatural coming of age while fighting villainy. While trying to make a new life, will she fall to the various powers threatening these shores, or face them down as the phoenix ascending?
An outstanding launch for this solo series.

First off, you do not need to have read the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series for this to make sense. It will add more depth to some characters, but is absolutely not necessary.

I love love loved this book. Not some half assed spin off, First Flame stands strong all on it’s own.

Kyrie... wooo boy! All the right things.

Winnies first leading role will bring the laughs, the feels, a touch of the brown-chicken-brown-cow, and leave ya waiting for more.

Go read it!

An exciting book that sparks a flame deep inside.

First Flame is an amazing and exciting beginning to the new series. I enjoyed the fiery character Winnie as she seeks to find her own way. She's fiesty, snarky and loyal. She finds control of her nature and fights to save her friends and her place outside her family's influence. This book is magical and enthralled me clear to the end. What a fantastic beginning!

Winnie is a winner!!!

This book stands on its own even though it is a spin off. Excitement, action, old friends new people, it has everything you want in a great supernatural story and much more!! I f you love urban fantasy, check out this book and any book by Kimbra Swain. This is about Winnie living on her own and truly finding herself with some pretty lovable characters as well. Like me, you will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the stories of Frost and Fire.

This is a spinoff of the Trailerverse series and it is amazing!! Winnie (Wynonna) branches out on her own in Steelshore with the FBI to help stop fairy trafficking. While doing so she learns things about what she wants in life and who she is as a person and about being the Pheonix. Of course, she also has romantic complications that you will love or hate But either way...just grab this book! I can't say more without giving it all away. Enjoy!!

Another amazing story

Another winner from Kimbra Swain. I had a little trouble rolling myself into the story. The movie in my head just wouldn’t get started but once I finally caught hold of it I couldn’t put it down. I am hoping that we will see more about Scarlett O’Lear and Eartha Hamlett I thought that side plot was interesting. Now just to wait for the remainder of the series.

Wow. Where will we go now?

Little Winnie is all grown up and getting into more trouble. She's learning her way and learning death isn't so scary when you are a Phoenix. Kimbra leads us on another whirlwind journey and makes me wish for the next book now always. Thank you for making me crave more!

Yes yes yes

For Winnie getting out of Shady Grove was the best thing for her! This book really starts to show you her heart and soul with some fun new characters along the way. I couldn't put this book down read it straight through, who needs sleep. I love that we still get glimpses of Shady Grove and it's people.

The children are young adults

To be honest, this didn't hook me as much as I hoped it would but at the same time, it is intriguing to see Winnie growing into herself and her powers. Things are not spelled out for the reader so it is probably best to read this adder having read the stories about the Trailer Park Queen.
