This is not a good book. I read this book as a joke for book club where we all read a different Quan Millz book and I was the only one to finish. Not very developed characters and there’s a new plot twist every 20 pages. Overall, the story and characters failed to resonant with me. There are several emotional moments in the book that rather than make me feel or relate to the characters made me roll my eyes. I KNOW a lot of people in their reviews say otherwise, it just didn’t make ME feel sympathy!!

BUT YOU might like it! You might resonant with the characters and their struggles! Or if you’re looking for a quick read that’ll have you laughing and saying “What the F***?” Give this book a try. You might enjoy it! It had me laughing several times at the absurdity and it did break me out of a reading rut!

The story had good character development, good movement and a solid plot. Hennessy's backstory was emotionally compelling as was her connection to Zane. She was not the most likable character as as an adult, but Zane more than made up for her shortcomings. The supporting characters were well drawn out as well. The story had 3 moments are so that stood out and they all involved death that kept my interest. My only critique would be that there were certain scenes or passages that added no value to the story and made it longer than it needed to be.

GOOD READ

I really enjoyed this book. This book had my attention from beginning to end. Zane and Hennessy had a life full of ups, downs, drama and deceit which made the book more interesting by the second. Cliff was definitely getting on my nerves and I was happy he was dealt with just wish it could've been sooner. I wish Cassidy was still around. Overall the book was a good standalone.

💯🔥🔥🔥

This story was so good! It was insane the things Hennessy and Zane went through! I must say Zane is the truth! The love he has for Hennessy from the beginning, that’s real. He’s a stand up dude! All the characters were interesting. Tate got what he deserved the thanks to Cassidy she definitely redeemed herself however my heart went out to her.

Good Book

I enjoyed the book but was disappointed about Cassidy having to die. I really liked the character that she played. I wasn't feeling Sasha so much, I mean she was kool and all but Cassidy was my girl. Glad everything worked out for Hennessey and Zane. I guess TJ was the better bro to work for after all.

Exceptionally well done!!!!

Exceptionally good story about growing up in the foster system and the results of having to grow up without parental assistance but doing it to the best of your abilities, even after trials and tribulations you still get through with good friends and your one true love.

It was an okay book, definitely not a must read in my opinion. The main characters Hennessey and Zane went through alot, but I wish the connection was a big tighter when they were in foster care, because a couple of sentences of him coming to see her while she did her homework didn't strike or allude to the fact that he would have outright kill for her. The reconnection after prison was expected but then it took a downhill from there. The extra characters did nothing for the story, it seemed like the author need to "fluff" the storyline out to get enough pages for us the readers to read. Not a fan.

2 stories in one

I loved how hard Zane always went for Hennessy. I never understood how Red never seemed protective or to care as much for Cassidy as she did for him. The whole time I thought Tj was a grimy fool. He turned out to be not so bad. Good story

Entertaining book

The theme is not something I enjoy reading about, however Quan Millz is a star in his craft as a writer. This story is well constructed but has a dark theme throughout. It is a page turner.

Good read

This one could of been a little longer, the readers were left with a cliffhanger and no part two of the storyline.

Omg

I truly enjoyed this book because of course it’s a standalone but the story line was great. I hate because Cassidy lost her life.

Different

I loved the characters. However the story line was sort of crazy. Too much unnecessary killing for me. Buy it was a good read.
