Cracking Ice: Episode 4

Rate this book
Carry has taught Keenan how to control his scent and keep himself hidden and they have decided to stop using the psychic connection between them to play—very aware they are playing with fire as well as ice—and most definitely stop hooking up.
For once, things are okay between them, so of course the world decides to intrude and enforce the natural standards neither of them are able to live up to.
This is episode 4 of “Cracking Ice”, a serialized novel that will be published every two weeks for the rest of the year. Please start on episode 1.

N.J. Lysk

N.J. Lysk (pronouns: whatever) is a queer one—in almost every sense of the word—for whom stories have always been their one true home. She studied linguistics and literature (which is to say, someone offered him a genuine excuse to read professionally) and ended up teaching, but writing is their one true love.

Addicted to angst, enamoured of mpreg and always ready to try a new kink (in a book, that’s it!) she became hooked into the Omegaverse through fanfic (but he doesn't have the patience to write other people's characters) and has recently expanded from werewolves to hockey players.

Keenan tries to get on with his life without a chance to bond with Carry. They will only be involved professionally and even though it hurts he has to go on. He learned from the master himself to shield his feelings and now he can’t stop.
Women around him are available and that’s what he will take. Omega Amalia seems the one for him.

After an interview with a prejudiced small-minded reporter, Keenan speaks up for omega’s and their place in society and after that, we are in the middle of politics and rules for alphas, omegas, and betas. It causes a shockwave, quite a revolutionary turn in this story.
Even though the romantic side in this story is lower, other things are rising.
I have to be patient (I’m bad with that). I can’t imagine what will happen when both men let all their shields down.
I think Keenan is getting stronger and more stable as a person. Carry is consistent in all his beliefs and actions.

I found the plot well thought out and the whole story captivatingly worked out. One event or action went smoothly over into the other.
A plausible story where all the little precious society boxes are shaken up and everybody has to reevaluate their biased beliefs and look at what is fundamentally real and important. I think ‘ask’ is one of the keywords.

Funny fact is I convinced myself I can’t handle continuing stories but here I am, in the middle of a wonderful series, with gnashing teeth, nails stuck in my hand and a stuttered heart, I can’t wait to start the next installment!

What is right? Whatever isn't wrong!
So many decisions to make, some based on emotional sensations, others embedded in cultural prejudices, yet others for the best of the team. The most important thing in the lives of the protagonists, at this moment in time, is and should be hockey, right? Right?
The climb of the team to the heights of their league is accompanied by the gradually heightening bond between teammates, still denied as such by the two MCs, but useful for playing a stellar game - unless mistrust, anger, or other negative feelings clash and crash.
Adrenalinic plays on the ice, great team interaction.
Lots of introspection about civil rights, discussions, public and press bringing on the general view of this omegaverse society while the realization that the way the system is structured penalizes both those perceived as the strong and as the weak

After an intense incident with their mental bond during a game, Carry teachers Keenan to control his link and they try playing without the link.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Keenan is getting backlash for a interview with reporters about omega rights. Amalia is upset and Carry is proud but everyone is thinking a omega put him to do it, after all Alphas don't seem to get that anyone but their opinion matters when it comes to a omega will being. N.j. lysk makes you feel for these characters whether they are being selfish or open-minded.  Carry is Finally coming around to Keenan's real feeling on omega's. Poor Keenan is just doomed so far when come to his heart, torn between two Omega's without even seeing it for himself. As for the ice  they have their good moment's and bad, Thomas is helping and seeing more then either likes or admits.
