Wicca Book of Spells: A Beginner's Book of Shadows for Wiccans, Witches & Other Practitioners of Magic (The Mystic Library 1)

Rate this book
Bestselling Wiccan author Lisa Chamberlain has created the perfect, concise guide for the novice witch who wants to learn how to cast key Wiccan spells.   With the help of this accessible guide by one of the most popular Wicca authors today, even beginners can successfully perform Wiccan spells to bring positive experiences into their life—and the lives of those they love. From thousands of potential spells, Lisa has chosen 50 of the most important, distilling them into three key categories of magical love and relationships, including friends and family (such as “Relationship Potential Divine Forecast” and “Spare Key Spell for Spiritual Connection”); wealth and prosperity (“Honey Abundance Jar" and “Job Interview Success Spell”); and health and well-being (“Anxiety Calming Spell” and “Protection Spell for Pets”). Plus, there’s a section on divination and spellwork involving essential oils, moon phases, and homemade ingredients—from an avocado beauty spell to a chicory root victory charm.

Lisa dispels all the common misconceptions about this diverse religion, giving her readers the perfect foundations for taking their first steps on their Wiccan journey.

Unlike other Wicca guides, Lisa's books provide information that's found across many Wiccan traditions, rather than coming from just one person's perspective. In fact, she writes the kinds of books she wishes had been available when she was just starting out in the Craft all those years ago.

When not writing or experimenting with spellwork, Lisa loves to read, play piano, and spend time surrounded by nature.

Great reading and ready to try

If you're new to wicca and spells this is a MUST HAVE. It is soo simple to follow and understand. It promotes positivity and doesn't endorse the use of anything negative. I'm excited to try my first spell and will be referring back to this bookfor the use of several more spells. And i do look forward to getting and reading more from this author. Thank you Lisa, and Blessed Be :)

A good collection of practical spellwork. I usually prefer to write my own spells but reading premade spells often gives me inspiration and I found plenty here. I liked that this book didn't use ridiculous, hard to find ingredients that make the spell cost a fortune to cast. This one had a good assortment of spells you could actually use with ingredients you can easily find.

I received this book as a Christmas gift from a friend and it now sits proudly on my altar space.

While this book is small, it is beautifully presented and really easy to follow. The spells aren't overly complex and the items you need aren't too difficult to come across, so even for beginners like myself it isn't too intimidating.
The variety of spells is nice too, however I probably could have done with less love type spells and more protection or healing type stuff, but hey! Each to their own when it comes to spellwork.

Overall, not too much to say on this one other than it is a lovely addition to any witch's collection!

Functionally a cookbook for intentions and affirmations. I thought it was a nice compilation of positive ritual. I find most of the suggestions in here no different than prayer or other traditionally religious ritual, just a little more physically tangible.

I think this book is really suspicious? Only because I really cannot tell if this is a ghost writer or not, and plus sometimes ill look up the quotes and find the exact same ones on her website so...why pay for this? Overall this book just regurgitates the same information, appropriates cultures while doing it, and really isn't valuable to a practitioner who is just starting. This is just a book of random spells when beginners would profit more from being taught how to do spells.

Good intro into the practice of Wicca.

This simple, easy to read guide will get you started on spell casting using practical means. Most of the required materials are things you have in the house. Anything extra can easily be ordered online or found in a health food store. It's a good start for learning the craft.

A Good Book To Start With

I have read many books on Wicca. They have been somewhat wordy. But this book is the simplest that I have read. I feel no intimidation like I did with the others that I own. I can't wait to get supplies to start.

I feel like even if you aren't practicing, there are some good things in here about energy and could be used for meditation rather than spells. That being said, good explanations of each spell and why you'd use it. Good basics book.

This is a great spell book for beginners and a good source for refreshing ones mind if they are further along the path. This book doesn't tell you what wicca/magick is, but it contains a lot of useful little spells.

I didn't get my letter to Hogwarts so... I need to study by myself now >:(

But really, this book is amazing and funny at the same time, it is a good occasion to focus on yourself, your well-being and your emotions. I truly recommend it!

Como guía básica para conocer los conceptos primarios está muy bien, pero es solo un primer paso de aprendizaje.

Simple, straightforward spells presented in an easy to follow manner and very positive energy.
A good primer for beginner Wicca as it dabbles a bit into pretty much all types of spellcasting.
