The book opens with how and why the authors made the journey to a plant-based diet. He then gives the definition of the diet.” Basically, the plant-based diet is for those who don’t eat food that comes from an animal source like meat, dairy, eggs, and seafood. This is also known as a “vegan” His recipes don’t include salt – oil- or sugar. He starts out talking about these three ingredients and how you can cook without them. I found this interesting. I also like the list of foods you should always eat, sometimes eat and never eat. Helps make the lifestyle change doable and not feel overwhelmed.

He talks about what to do when you eat at restaurants’ and for those days you just don’t feel like cooking, and tips and tricks to stay on track like the list of Instead of this, eat that. He begins with cooking basics and has a few blank pages for your shopping list, and a week of menus planning sheets. There is also a sample menu after that. Each recipe has the cooking time, whether it’s nut free, gluten free, Prep time. Also, if it’s a one pot meal.

The recipes are easy to read, not complicated to make. The ingredients can easily be found in your local grocery store. I like that there are recipes for condiments, and sauces too. I like that he lists the nutritional information at the bottom of each recipe. There are a variety of helpful items at the bottom, like the serving size, nutritional break down, variation tips, serving tips, and helpful cooking tips. Most recipes have 5 ingredients and take 30 minutes or less to make.

Some of the Breakfast meals that looked yummy to me are Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal, Chocolate, Peanut Butter Quinoa, and Southwest Sweet Potato skillet, Under Sides I want to try the four can chili, Whole-wheat Pita Pockets, and Crispy Cauliflower wings, Under Entries the Falafel burger looks good along with Easy Vegan Pizza bread, Baked Mac and peas, Crispy Rice and bean Tostados, and under deserts Sweet potato spice cake and chocolate microwave mug cake.

I’m excited about trying these recipes and many others. The only thing missing from this book are lots of food pictures. The author starts each chapter with some foods featured in that section, that’s it.

This book title is misleading - it's not just for beginners! I found the recipes in here to be delicious and I'm not new to Plant Based eating.

But if someone is a beginner in the Whole Food Plant Based world, the author's book will be a great help in sorting some things out. The beginning of his book has a lot of questions asked that I have heard from others interested in this lifestyle.

If I knew the author, I'd say - "Well done, Gabriel!"

This is an excellent book for those new to the whole-food plant-based (WFPB) way of eating. WFPB involves eating only whole foods and minimising (or avoiding) all dairy, oil, meats and processed food. It is based on the Forks Over Knives documentary and website. This is not a vegan or vegetarian way of eating but is friendly to both.

I am always wary of 'health' cookbooks as they usually consist of boring salads or 'you might as well eat grass' recipes. This book is different. The recipes are simple but are really tasty and offer excellent alternative versions of their fatty non-WFPB counterparts (like burgers, enchiladas, cheese etc). Additionally, the recipes contain easily obtainable items (no need to hunt down pixie grown mushrooms that are hand-picked by gypsies!) from your supermarket. They also don't take huge amounts of preparation time. You can also follow the author on Instagram to see videos of him cooking these dishes.

The beginning of the book will provide guidance on eating plans, background information to WFPB, pantry essentials, and basic cooking appliances needed.

For those who have been using this way of eating for a while, you may find the recipes a bit too simple. Saying that, there are some really decent staples here. The only downside for me was the lack of pictures. When you start cooking using a completely new way of eating, you need to pictures to guide you on how the final product should look like. However, this is a minor quibble.

Looking for healthy and plant-based options for your next meal? Or are you interested in the reasons why many are choosing to eat more plant-based meals? This cookbook is packed with delicious recipes along with information on the the health, environmental, and ethical reasons to eat more plant-based meals.

It has all your favorites in it, including stews, roasts, and burgers, along with ice cream and even mug cakes, all healthy versions that are great for your health and the health of the plant! The only downside I could find is that it wasn't packed with more pictures of the recipes, but I found the recipes tantalizing enough without pictures!

This book has a very wide range of recipes. There are several I will use often. I love the pumpkin oatmeal. There are several simple beverages that are easy and refreshingly delicious. The watermelon limeade and bubbly orange soda are pretty good. The recipes are unique easy and tasty. At the top it lists if the recipe is gluten or nut free and many take 30 minutes or less. I enjoyed this alot more then I expected because I'm not vegetarian but I found lots of things to make for healthy life changes so I'm delighted. I received this ARC from Calisto Publishing and Rockridge press.

I read this book based on the good online reviews. Very disappointed. The recipes are overly simplistic, even for a beginner, and the book lacks creativity. It made me doubt the legitimacy of the rave reviews, so I visited the Plant Based Gabriel FB page. Yikes!!! A page with video after video of his toddler daughter in risky situation. Family pets being used like toys and props; certainly not the respect for animals the vegan philosophy encourages. The videos earn him money based on clicks and shares. I am sorry I read the book and do not recommend the author.

The protein content listed for the recipes is highly unreliable - and that’s a concern for anyone on a vegan-type diet. For example, the recipe for potato salad calls for 5 large red or golden potatoes, and 1 cup silken tofu or 1 large avocado, plus mustard and spices, & he claims each of the 4 servings contains TEN GRAMS of protein - but 1/4 cup silken tofu has about 4 grams (MAX) protein, and a golden potato has only 3…

Easy Recipes and Great Sauces But Too Many Gluten Recipes

Most recipes are simple and easy to make. I loved the sauces, salad dressings and cheesy options. Mock Toona was fun. But too many recipes were made with wheat—not just baked goods. I’ll have figure a way around those recipes to use them. Also many are high in fat.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The recipes are interesting and easy to follow. I have only made a few but each one has turned out excellent. I am new to plant-based eating and this was an excellent resource for me.

Great for beginners

This has some really easy to prepare, tasty recipes! I made the toona salad right after I read about it and plan on making the chickpea and white bean hummus as well. Check it out, it's worth the read.

Good stuff.

While I have yet to try any of these recipes many sound simple and delicious. I plan to try some as early as tomorrow. And am looking forward to indulging more fully in a plant based diet and I believe these recipes will help keep me going in the right direction.

Marked as Read because it is mostly a recipe book. Its on my Kindle so I just need to remember to look there when I want to make any of the recipes. The front content is good to know - and is more-or-less intended for beginners to the Plant Based Diet concept. Its good for that and for the recipes.

Simple Real Food Recepies

What a relief! A book with recipes for real food with simple ingredients. No more looking for a rare flower that only blooms once in a blue moon that you can on,y get from a speciality grocer west of the Mississippi to make a dish.

Real recipes for people that like food!

A whole Food approach to comfort foods. Not a bunch of leafy green salad and grain bowls that you won’t eat, but real food like enchiladas and mashed potatoes!

Plant Based Diet

This is the new norm. This will guide us all on how to be healthier. I am trying but I still eat my chicken, once in a while. Taking one day at a time.

It's a great starter book for embracing a plant-based diet. Most of the recipes are simple. A lot of these recipes will likely be staples for me, like the "cheese" sauce and the pesto.
