Lost Boy Found is a piece that will be difficult to stop reading once it is started. This story will bring about a wide range of frequent emotions from laughing out loud to lumps in your throat to gut wrenching dread, sometimes within a few pages. Also in this book are important lessons for all families with children…mainly the methods predators utilize to assault their marks and the utmost importance of being engaged, loving and accepting parents to our kids. This books gives a good insight on child abuse and is written with a very genuine intent. I would recommend everyone read this book at least once in their life for the great knowledge it imparts. Commendable work by the author.
Lost Boy Found wasn’t a book I wanted to read, but once I started I could not put it down. I laughed, cried and got angry, then I felt incredible sadness for this innocent child who had no one to protect him.
Dr. Gregg’s memoir gives male survivors of sexual abuse a voice, as he Captures the agonizing loss of innocents, far too many experience. It reminds us that All our youth and vulnerable deserve vigilance and protection against predators. In light of the “Me Too” movement it is reassuring that our boys/men have a champion who was brave enough to come forward with his story. Undoubtedly it will give others the courage needed to come forward and begin the process of healing.
This is a must read for all parents/caregivers, individuals who work with children and survivors of sexual abuse.
I feel honoured to have read Dr. Peter Gregg's gripping memoir. He is incredibly brave and exceptionally talented in his writing and the way that he looks at his childhood abuse through the lens of a behavioural scientist today. This powerful tale will be extremely helpful in aiding parents in protecting and supporting their children, for those who work with victims of abuse, and even those who have experienced abuse and have yet to take steps toward healing themselves. I am motivated and more encouraged than ever after reading this book, to end the worldwide destruction of children in our lifetime! I recommend not only buying this book for yourself but buying a copy for a fellow parent too. Thank you, Peter.
Lost Boy Found is an important story, with learnings for everyone on the topic of boy rape. I believe all readers will rapidly find themselves attached to both the unexpected challenge of the author’s life today and the shocking trauma of his past. The author shares his painful memories, along with valuable lessons that can help others through trauma or help prevent similar trauma. The lessons are important for every parent, or anyone else that may be in a position to recognize key signs and get involved in preventing such crimes against children.
An amazing story about adversity and overcoming it. While the description says it's a must read for fathers of boys, I would say it's a must read for any parent. Even for those who aren't parents this story is great for anyone who has suffered physical or emotional abuse, to share an understanding of the trauma and moving forward. At times it's tough to choke back the tears. Highly recommended!
Lost Boy Found is so much more than a story about one man's struggle to rebuild his life and move past being raped as a boy. It's a cautionary tale that every parent, teacher, caregiver, friend and family member should read.
This is not fiction - this is what happens when all the right things fall into place for something terribly wrong to happen.
Lost Boy Found is a heart wrenching story that every parent, teacher and social worker should read. As a parent of 4 boys and 3 girls it was sobering to realize how vulnerable our younger children can be when exposed to those with predatory inclinations. Dr. Gregg was courageous to share his story and I feel privileged to have allowed to learn from it. Highly recommended!
Lost Boy Found is a comprehensive overview of the effects of childhood sexual and parental abuse on its victims. Dr Gregg urges us “If you see something, say something.” We all need to heed this advice.
