After her journey to France, Lady Emily Stanford resumes her much hated life as the mistress of the Greywell mansion and strives to be the obedient wife her husband, Lord Charles Stanford, wishes her to be. I read this straight on the heels of Book 1 (a reread, the revised edition), and fell straight into it head first. Many intriguing plots. Some of which are cleaned up a little too neatly (a few surprising twists) and briefly at the end. The last 50 pages or so could've been fleshed out more and even made a Book 3, or at least half of it, in their own right. The ending felt rushed (or was it me reading at lightning speed to see what happened next?). Thinking back, I think I wanted to see some people suffer more before my eyes than be relegated to a few pages. Yes, I was that emotionally invested in the characters.

Medryckande och intressant uppföljare. Linda skriver så man får upp så vackra - eller dramatiska - scener som på film när man läser. Det är lite Nod och Syd-känsla om ni förstår; vackra miljöer, droskor, människorna; sättet man levde på. Rika människors lömska manipulation mot den genomfattiga människan som griper varje halmstrå - hur lätt är det inte att utnyttja. Och så finns det de människorna som bara vill leva på sitt sätt, få vara lyckliga och göra det bästa av det dem har. Ni ser det komma, va? Vad döljer sig under ytan, bakom fasaderna? En chockerande händelse utlöser allt, saker ställs på sin spets, vem kan du lita på? Vad är man beredd att göra för vänner, överlevnad, existens. Jag tror det är en fördel om man läst första boken för att riktigt hänga med. Eller så känner jag så för att jag inte läser på engelska i vanliga fall och tycker det är svårt. Jag är mycket förtjust vid tanken att en trea håller på att skrivas just i detta nu, för det blir verkligen en bok att längta efter!

This is me, the author, rating my own book because I clicked the bloody stars and now I don't know how to undo it!!
Do I like my own book? Oh, I think it's fabulous, but don't take my word for it, because I'm kinda biased. However, I also, truly, honestly, want you to find out for yourself, so I'd be completely over the moon if you gave it a try. Maybe you like the story, maybe you hate it - either way, let me know! Also, alternatively, you can let me know how to undo a review when the book is your own.

Anyhow, IF you're going to read this book (if you do, I'll love you forever), be sure to grab Book 1 in the series before you do. It'll make the story easier to understand, trust me. Book 1 is currently free on Smashwords, B&N, Apple books (well, everywhere except on Amazon, due to Amazon rules).
