Rupert has spent years searching for his perfect wife. Now he’s found her.

Her name is Charlotte Aldridge and she’s wonderful. A talented artist, modest and beautiful, she’s everything he ever dreamed of. Her hair, her eyes, her mouth - every little detail is perfect.

Rupert is confident that when they meet, she’ll fall in love with him just as he has with her. After all, he’s a wealthy British aristocrat. And he’s handsome – the relentless gym workouts and extensive plastic surgery have seen to that.

But what if Charlotte can’t see that they’re a perfect fit, that they’re meant for each other? Well, Rupert can be very persuasive. His father taught him certain methods which are extremely effective. Methods that can turn the most determined, ‘I don’t’ into a meek and submissive, ‘I do’....

A chilling, up-all-night psychological thriller, You Are Mine is perfect for fans of Mark Edwards and K. L. Slater

For a thriller this was an awfully silly book. I love obsession/stalker tales (Thanks to you, Ms. Kepnes!) but this one was woefully lacking in the entertainment department.

If you can overlook the fat shaming and a posh British psychopath that converses with his penis named Percy then you may enjoy this more than I did. 1 star!

5☆ One Word.... Unputdownable!

Wow oh wow! You Are Mine is a fantastic Psychological Thriller.
It's gritty, dark, thrilling and perfectly twisty.
It took just 1 day to get through It was Unputdownable!

Not sure how I'm going to write my review without giving anything away so I'll just briefly whizz over the gripping plot.

Charlotte is a fantastic artist and after a tragic heartbreak she has finally found her passion again.

When Rupert comes into her exhibition and buys three of her paintings, offering her a commission to paint a self portrait of himself she would never in a million years believe her painting could be the death of her!

I despised Rupert yet he also had this weirdly endearing side that I couldn't help wanting to know more about him.

My only niggle with this book was the ending felt a lil rushed. After such a thrilling and spine tingling plot, the end did wrap up but I needed and craved more!

The story is told by alternative chapters by Charlotte, Rupert and some chapters told by Simone, which simply add another puzzle to thicken the plot nicely and paint the future which has become of Rupert.

I can't praise You Are Mine enough, it's
Creepy, Unnerving, had plenty of cleverly plotted twists and turns i didn't see coming, it was deliciously chilling and will give you goose bumps. Wow what a read!
This is definitely on my Top Reads for 2019!
I can't recommend reading You Are Mine Enough!

Thank you to Emma at Damppebbles tours for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

4.5 STARS

Charlotte is still grieving the death of her fiancee. Rupert is looking for the perfect wife ...and Charlotte is his choice.

Rupert is wealthy, good looking and lures her into his web by offering her a job. She's an artist and he wants her to paint his portrait for the great estate that is his. Charlotte has reservations, but the money os good and she needs to get her life in gear again.

Rupert has himself convinced that he is in love with Charlotte ... after all, he's been following her for over a year. But what if Charlotte cannot give him the love he's determined to have?

Rupert can be very persuasive. His father taught him certain methods which are extremely effective. Methods that can turn the most determined, ‘I don’t’ into a meek and submissive, ‘I do’....

This is not the first I have read of this author's ... and I was not disappointed. This is a well written psychological thriller with a few surprises along the way. Rupert takes the creepy factor to new levels. The book goes back in time for a look at a teenage Rupert and his first love. The relationship with his father is undeniably dysfunctional. As an adult, Rupert has learned the lessons of his father well. The ending is phenomenal.

Many thanks to the author / Inkubator Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of YOU ARE MINE. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Gripping, twisted and tense!

I whizzed through this fantastic novel. The plot intrigued me all the way and it was pure reading enjoyment.

What if your life changed and you had no control over it? Sinister plans and dark delusions swallowing your sanity?

Oh how there are characters to live and despise. Rupert, holy macaroni, what a hideous character you want to run from yet are fascinated by his complexities. He is one that will stay with me. Very well developed and placed in the plot.

If you love a twisted dark psychological thriller don't miss this gem. Right to the last word i was enthralled. Some reveals we're so brilliantly placed and unexpected. I loved it. Highly recommended. Be prepared for plenty of twists and intense reading moments.

This was one of the most scariest books I have ever read on a man's obsession for a woman.

Rupert saw Charlotte. Rupert wanted Charlotte. At any cost.

My third book by author Miranda Rijks, I gave to say this author is pretty scary in the way her mind could think up the dark scenes and write them. The book extremely easy to read, I could finish it in a couple of hours. The horror in the scenes kept rising as I turned the pages and I couldn't yet stop reading. I blame the author for putting me in a trance.

The story may seem to be known, but the feeling of helplessness, impending danger, and need to escape were real. I was quite amazed that the author evoked those emotions from me in a few short lines. The words stringed together did have the power to make me feel so much. I desperately wanted Charlotte to run, run far away.

Oh my the horrors in the book would remain with me for a long time. Fast paced, short chapters, and a need to escape made this book a fantastic breakfast read. I think I needed to know if Rupert got his just, just to escape him. Hence the pages turned faster.

Whew!! What a book.

So I really wanted to love "You Are Mine" as I really enjoyed the first two novels I read by Miranda Rijks. But I have to say I didn’t love this novel.
The plot centres around Rupert and Charlotte. Charlotte is an artist and Rupert appears to have some sort of infatuation. So, when he asks Charlotte to do a traditional portrait of him she finds herself agreeing and then going to stay with him to do it. Although Rupert is clearly wealthy and a respected member of his community, charlotte starts to feel an unease. After the worlds most awkward meal things for charlotte go from bad to worse.

Now heres the thing, on the suffice this sounds great. Who doesnt love the whole fatal attraction style book. But i found this book rather predictable none of the twist came as a surprise to me and in all honesty I think the narrative is just super slow. The thing is the first chapter was all go go go and I was like yes I'm hooked and then it was just super slow. Alot of prose that i wasn’t hooked by and to be honest i didn’t particularly like Charlotte or Rupert. Actually the side chracter of Charlotte’s sister I really liked and i think the book would of read better if it had entirely been from the sisters point of view.

The book is written in first person and each chapter jumps between Ruperr and Charlotte except the historical chapters when we meet Simone. I also thought Simone's story was really interesting and would of prefered more of that aswell.

It’s not all lost as there are certain parts of the book i quite enjoyed but I feel it was rushed at the end when there was so much narrative that could of been avoided for a more tense and better read. It’s definately a psychological thriller but it you are a massive fan of the genre like myself you might want to give it a miss. Miranda Rijks has some other fantasic psychological thrillers that I would read instead. I am rating ir 2 stars as I said there were some parts i enjoyed.

Thank you to Netgalleyy, the author and the publisherrs fro the digital advanced copy in exchange for my fair and honest opinion

Another fast paced Miranda Rijks novel and tbh probably the weakest of the one’s I have read yet still an entertaining read.

Talented artist Charlotte Aldridge’s life is starting pick up again and while trying to sell some of her paintings meets Rupert, a wealthy handsome British aristocrat who is eager to find the love of his life. Rupert is taken by Charlottes paintings and not only buys three of them but wants her to paint his portrait.

Rupert is very persuasive and thinks it is only a matter of time until Charlotte becomes his wife.

Fast paced and exciting but this one was a little too much to believe for my taste.

This book was a bit silly. For a thriller, not much thrilling actually happened. It started off alright but it just dragged. It was ridiculous at times. It just seemed insane and I wasn’t too bothered about finishing it. Meh.

When this book popped up on a Facebook group looking for bloggers to take part, I took me about 10 seconds to reply – “ME PLEASE, PICK ME!” and the lovely Emma Welton of Damppebblesblogtours responded immediately with a date and a copy of the book, which I downloaded and started straight away.

Firstly I need to confess that I absolutely LOVE psychopaths and the more twisted and delusional the better and Sir Rupert St John Baskerville Bt., JP of Sesame Hall, West Sussex is one absolutely bat-sh*t delusional, twisted and disturbed psychopath and I, personally, really enjoyed the book because of him.

On the surface Sir Rupert is a much respected magistrate and local councillor – a pillar of the community and held in high regard within his community. Charlotte is a young artist who is grieving the violent and sudden death of her beloved fiance Matthew six months ago and is attending her first gallery exhibition of her artwork when she meets Sir Rupert who makes her an offer too good to refuse – £20,000 to paint his portrait at his stately mansion in West Sussex.

You Are Mine is told narrated by 3 characters, alternating between past and present day. Charlotte (Charlie) the grieving young artist; Sir Rupert the rich and respected magistrate and young Simone, who tells her story from 1994 when she first met Sir Rupert and his father.

There is no denying Rupert has severe “issues” and a very unhealthy view on relationships and as the story unfolds, it’s becomes clearer why Rupert behaves like he does, however at no time did I feel sorry for him.

The author has created a really twisted villain and I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced story with some very odd characters and a couple of twists thrown in.

What did I just read!? And what is with my dedication to finishing even the worst of books!? It was quick but painful..... Not much thriller, pretty predictable and even Charlotte wasn't the most likable character. A lot of good reviews of this author, maybe I'll give her another chance when I recover from the atrocity that was this book.

This story has been done before, a zillion times; so when tackling it again, the author needs to up the ante and bring something new and original to the plot. This was a huge fail. The writing is amateurish and the Rupert character was a one dimensional caricature of a person, with the most ridiculous dialogue ever. The big plot surprises/reveals were super super obvious from early on that only a brain dead reader couldn't figure them out- quite an insult to the reader. total dreck.

Up all night is absolutely right

I couldn't put this down. Well, except for the moments I did and stared around the room with an emotional expression--anger, shock, disgust. I suggest reading with a partner so you have someone to gush about all the crazy twists and turns of Sir Rupert. I look forward to reading more from Rijks.

You Are Mine was creepy psychological thriller that had creepiest villain I ever read. It was about loveless and emotionless upbringing and its psychological effect, how it shapes a person, mindset of psychopath and mainly about limerence- extreme love obsession.

Writing was fantastic, gripping and fast paced. Setting of old mansion in Sussex with its vast property, hall of pictures, ball room and punishment room made the book even more unnerving. Book was mainly set in present narrated both from Rupert and Charlotte’s POV, alternatively. There were intermittent chapters from the past that gave the picture of Rupert’s childhood, his family and upbringing and how the characters in this chapters were directly or indirectly responsible for what was happening in present.

Book started with Charlotte’s art exhibition, pictures she created six month before the tragedy in her life, but she was distant far away from happiness. She was still grieving for her fiancé. Her inspiration died with him, she struggled to paint and maintain economical condition. Surprisingly, on the first day of exhibition she met aristocratic man, Sir Rupert, who offered her huge amount for painting his portrait staying at his mansion. Charlotte had to accept the offer to pay her debts even though she had her doubts and felt uncomfortable. But she couldn’t have guessed what she was getting into by accepting the offer.

I was curious to see when and how Charlotte will see through Rupert and his intentions, why he chose Charlotte and what methods he was going to use that was mentioned in that synopsis, If Charlotte will escape this psychopath or succumb to his persuasion.

First half of the book outlined the characters. Charlotte was decent character. She was physically week mentally broken because of her fiancé- Matthew’s death. She was normal girl with good looks, simple life and great talent, she couldn’t get into any sort of trouble until Rupert stepped on her life. I was glad for her sixth sense, I just wish she would have reacted to it earlier but I know that wouldn’t have stopped Rupert, would it? Her resilience and determination to fight Rupert was great but she was not strong enough. Of course she had a chance but she was too polite and wasted to grab it. And that dragged her into nightmare.

I loved Charlotte’s sister Jodi and their sisterly bond, the role she played. She was utterly brave and strong person.

Author has knack for creating hell of twisted and demented psychopath. Rupert was one horrible character. He was self-centered, materialistic, typical aristocrat who thought he could buy everything with his money, even love. His character showed how far a person monster can stoop to get what he want. I had to agree he had troubled childhood, I didn’t approve the way he was treated at school or at home. He clearly needed guidance with love and care and of course a psychiatrist. No matter how sorry I felt for 15-yr-old Rupert, I hated him as much. He never understood no or what true meaning of love was.

I definitely held all the characters in his life (his father, even that cook, and partly Simone – she might be a bitch but she was clear from the very beginning and I agreed with her views) responsible for creating this psycho and letting him roam free. He didn’t deserve pity or a chance or the impression people had in their mind. Oh hell he didn’t deserve to breathe one molecule of oxygen. You see he made me so angry. I was so shocked, horrified and disgusted reading his POV. But I must say he was smart and brilliant in the book.

Now I could predict what he did to get Charlotte and why, some in the beginning and some within first half. There was no big suspense and still I couldn’t have guessed what happened in the second half. I thought first half was scary but my goodness, the second was epitome of scary. I lost the count how many times I cursed while reading it. The methods he used and what he did to her was dreadful.

Climax was tense and tragic. I wish I could change it. End was great. After reading this book I so wished I can cast some magic on my daughter that can ward off psychos of the world.

Overall, it was dark twisted, riveting psychological thriller. I highly recommend this to fans of this genre.

Read Full & Detailed review: https://cynthology.blogspot.com/2019/...

All the chapters are in the first person present tense point of view of the character, except for the first chapter which is a prologue of sorts, and is in third person. This prologue shows us the cruel and slow poisoning to death of an unnamed woman by an unnamed man.
Alternate chapters are from the point of view of Charlotte, Rupert and a young French girl, Simone Durand who, in June 1994, was hired to be a resident French teacher to a 15-year-old Rupert by his wealthy, enigmatic father, Sir Oswald Baskerville. Simone’s account begins in July 1994, then moves to August, and then to August 1995. There is one chapter from Rupert in 1997 and a few from Jodi.
There is a sense of foreshadowing, giving us a foretaste of what Charlotte’s future might be.
The name, Baskerville, reminded me of the Arthur Conan Doyle story, featuring Sherlock Holmes, The Hound of the Baskervilles.
I found the expression, needs must, indicating that something that had to be done, a little awkward. I had never heard of this phrase before. At first it showed twice in Rupert’s first-person chapters, and I dismissed it as his particular pet phrase. Then the same phrase popped up in Jodi’s viewpoint in one chapter, and it was the oddest thing to have two completely different characters with the same pet phrase.
There were very few characters in this book, but they managed to make their presence felt. Apart from Charlotte, Rupert, Jodi, Oswald and Simone, we have Charlotte’s mother, who is mostly absent, and her fiancé, Matt, who dies when the events of the book begin.
I liked the character of Jodi. She’s plucky and determined. She’s the one you want in your corner when you are in trouble. She refuses to give up on her sister, and is willing to endanger her own life to save her sister. It was good to see the bond between the two sisters. How they stood up for each other.
Rupert was the kind of antagonist I haven’t seen in a long time. Creepy and delusional, he even has a first name, Percy, for his member. He reads books on cheap psychology and on the Stockholm Syndrome. His entire body is unreal, every external physical body part enhanced through surgery, even might I add, Percy.
Charlotte found him creepy; I thought he was worse than that. I applaud the author’s success in creating a truly demented character.
Rupert was sleazy, but I couldn’t understand Charlotte’s motivations either. When her room becomes too hot (because Rupert has fiddled with the heater settings), she takes off her clothes and sits on the bed in her bra and panties, even though she has seen cameras about the place, and the door is unlocked, and Rupert has just left a few minutes ago, promising to return with soup. Who does something so foolish? It was for this reason that I didn’t really take to Charlotte. I thought she was rather stupid for having agreed to go and stay in a complete stranger’s house in the first place.
It was only when she got into trouble that I felt sympathetic towards her.
It was nice to see the inclusion of three Indian names, all Indian doctors. Jodi’s love interest is an Indian doctor, Rohan, no surname, and the two doctors, Dr Talpade and Dr Amrita Hathimare, who have wreaked Rupert’s unbelievable physical transformation through plastic surgery are also Indian. I found that to be quite a coincidence.
All in all, not bad. Those three stars are just for Rupert.

You Are Mine by Miranda Rijks is a spell binding thriller which I managed to read in a span of two days. I doubt if it would have taken me even that much time, had I not been a mother of two and a little unwell.

This is a story about obsessive love. Rupert, rather Sir Rupert has spent a long time, looking for a perfect woman to marry and eventually manages to find one. Now all that remains is to make her see how alike they are and make her realise that she has to love him completely with her heart, body and soul. And he will not let anything stand in the way of fulfilling his.... their destiny.

You Are Mine is gripping and engaging as you really don't know what to expect rom the next few pages. I had recently seen the very brilliant series "You" on Netflix and that kind of made my imagination even more proactive in conceiving the scenes as the story progressed, though both- this book and the series (also based on a psychological thriller) are very different from each other. Add to this the fact that the chapters aren't very long and aid fast reading. Maybe this was the reason my heart paced when I had to unwillingly put the book down to attend to the mundane chores of everyday life.

Although if you were to really ask me one special thing about the book then I would have to point towards the most basic - the writing. I found it to be fluid and never wavering away from the task at hand. It did not make me want to skip pages and get to the story whether the author described a flat or a mansion where the story takes place or wrote about the dead boyfriend of our heroine Charlotte Aldridge.

It was my first outing with the author Miranda Rijks and I do look forward to reading some more of her work,.

As a psychological thriller, this book was pretty terrifying for me to read. A young female painter, Charlotte, is approached at an exhibit by a man who wants her to paint his portrait. Turns out, Rupert is obsessed with the attractive artist and has lured Charlotte to his home for nefarious purposes. What woman in her right mind agrees to move into a stranger’s home for 20,000 pounds? And he lives alone!

There are a couple of twists in the story that make it very interesting. At first, I didn’t understand why there were four points of view, but I later appreciated getting Simone’s perspective of Rupert.

This isn’t my usual genre. I don’t care much for the inner workings of sociopaths, especially one who lusts for his half-sister and has named his penis Percy. I will say the person I feared was dying in the prologue was not who I thought it was.

Triggers: kidnapping, physical assault, murder

Lately I’ve been reading more and more of Miranda’s books. She has an easy style with a thriller vibe. She also has a mystery series, Fatal, that I enjoy. While this book does have a bit of a silly, albeit stalker, tone, I enjoyed the read. Hence the 5 stars. The stalker is a real wacko with actions that are almost hard to read. But the book is also light, so there is no heaviness to drag you down. I also liked the twists which were a surprise to me. So, if you don’t mind a little over the top story with a likable heroine, then give it a try!

Think Beauty and the Beast written by Stephen King!

Another well written story by the amazing Miranda Rijks, she has yet to write anything that dissapoints me.

Real page turner, plot twists a plenty, creative storyline, relatable characters (except Rupert!) Breathtaking surprises that disturb and intrigue you without being too far fetched; she always seems to know where the line is! All these points making you unable to but the book down.

I haven’t read a Miranda Rijks book for a few months, and I’d forgotten what an amazing writer she is. I’d been reading some just ok books recently and really needed this refreshing and gripping Psychological Thriller.
It reminded me a little of ‘Gates of Paradise’ by V.C. Andrews whereby a girl is kept captive in a stately home, and there is incest involved. It only reminded me of this book (one of my favourites), but ‘You Are Mine’ had its own completely unique and enthralling story.
We meet Charlotte, an artist with a sorrowful past. On the opening night of her exhibition, she meets Rupert. He offers her an inordinate sum of money for her to do his portrait. When she arrives at his stately home, things turn from bad to worse, and she finds herself captive in a dangerous man’s house.
The chapters are interspersed with tidbits from Rupert’s past, and these start to build up the character and the reasons he is as he is in the present day. Everything that happens in the past becomes relevant for the unfolding story. It is very well put together.
I did guess all the twists, but this didn’t stop me enjoying them unfolding and the characters discovering the truth.
This was a brilliantly written novel, and I read it in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. It had the perfect amount of apprehension and suspenseful moments. I didn’t know how Charlotte would be able to overcome everything that was happening to her, and this made for a gripping read.
This is a stand-alone Psychological Thriller by Miranda Rijks, and I highly recommend it.

It was meant to be a thriller, I think. I didn’t find a lot of suspense in the plot line. I liked Charlotte and her sister Jodi but that was all. I feel the book could have been improved by adding a mystery or twist, including secondary characters, and not having such a high body count.

Commissioned for a portrait painting (for 20,000 pounds), Charlotte drives 6 hours to Sir Rupert's mansion.
Rupert has been in love with Charlotte for a year and a half. Charlotte has no designs whatsoever on Rupert or his money. However, Rupert can be quite persistent.....

Fast-paced suspense story with some very entertaining characters.

A good read!

Charlotte is at a low point. Her fiance is dead and her bills are way overdue. The only bright light is her first art gallery showing. That night Sir Rupert garners her attention by purchasing a number of her works and asks to commission her to paint his portrait for more money than she can imagine. He wants her to come to his estate for two weeks to work on the painting, and while Charlotte has some misgivings, she desperately needs the money. She hasn't painted since her fiance dies but is determined to do her best. Things seem a bit off with Sir Rupert, but she is not all familiar with the ways of the aristocracy. Little did she know the fascination she held for Sir Rupert or the potential horrors that might befall her at his hands. A quite good tale that enfolds a little bit slowly but well worth the read.

You Are Mine is a fantastic story written by Miranda Rijks. Her characters are perfect for this story and you will love some and hate others. Charlotte has recently lost her fiance and is trying to figure out a way to pay her bills when at a special art showing of her work she meets Rupert and this is where all goes so very wrong. Learning Rupert's story will really make you cringe plus what his actions do in this story will keep you turning pages. There is suspense and drama on almost every page. This is a story unlike anything I have ever read. The mystery that is revealed also sets things Charlotte's mind awhirl as to who murdered her fiance.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

**Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.**

I went into reading "You Are Mine" expecting a stereotypical thriller where a naive woman falls in love with a guy that puts her in a situation that is "too good to be true." I certainly was not disappointed that Miranda Rijks delivers exactly that concept; however, the execution is poor.

Charlotte, or Charlie, is just flat out dumb. Rupert is a literary exaggeration of a posh Brit. The whole situation is unbelievable (Rupert pays Charlie 20k pounds to stay at his estate for ~6 weeks and paint his portrait).

Parts of the story drag on, so I feel the story could be condensed or cut due to redundancy.

This author needs to be on your radar RIGHT NOW if you love thrillers! This was my second read by her, and I was just a few pages into this one before I ordered two more titles!

Told in alternating points of view, Charlotte is a struggling artist who has just lost the love of her life. Drowning in debt and grief, she meets charismatic Rupert at an art show showcasing her work. Hoping to sell enough pieces to become current on her rent, she is stunned when Rupert offers her a substantial sum to stay at his country estate and paint his portrait. Silencing her misgivings, Charlotte agrees.

It will be her biggest regret.

I've encountered a lot of literary villains, but y'all haven't seen ANYTHING until you've met Rupert 😳😳 Fast paced, character driven story!
