In my review of book one I boldly stated that we all knew who Chancery would end up with. Well, after reading this book I'm no longer sure! My reasons for thinking one of the love interests could never work, which made him a mere distraction, are now gone. That's all I'm going to say, other than I did not see that twist coming! I think that's what Bridget does the best as a writer. She continuously blindsides me with things I do not see coming in every one of her books.

Chancery is finally gaining the confidence she needs in this book and I'm glad! She has so much self doubt, and blames herself for everything. These are traits that can get annoying at times, but they also make her seem more real. I'm excited to see what she will do in future books, especially with that ring. This ends on a cliffhanger and I dying to find out what happens next.

Thanks to Bridget Baker for giving me a copy of this book to review.

In this edge of your seat mystery, we rewind find Chancery taking the mantle of Empress just as Judica disappears. Though the reader understands that she was kidnapped, Chancery doesn’t know this. She is left to worry about her sister, as well as where her sister’s loyalties lie. This story is filled with twists, turns, and if not surprises, at least suspense and suspicion.
The part of the story that was disappointing is that Chancery’s sister Melina is not a believer of this passage in Romans1:26-31.
I received a review copy of this audiobook, and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Baker does a very good job of making me want to continue the series. This is the third in this book, and I don't remember how many there are. It ends on a huge cliffhanger, and we still don't have the answer to the question from the first book, which is getting pretty... old at this point. Very violent, but smut free.

4.5⭐️

This story just keeps getting better and better! The action is never ceasing, the love never seems to fail, and the story continues to blossom.

I have to say, the few difficult things about this book/series are the names, the different territories (and remembering them), and the multiple people in the story.

However, I love how this series is full of action, suspense, and so many different characters with vastly different characteristics. The author puts them all together well!

I was debating about reading the next book, because it is just about Melindas story, but I figured why not! I have enjoyed her books up to now, so I am gonna give it a chance!

I have to admit, she is starting to become one of my top authors. Keep them coming Bridget!😍

DNF - with a lengthy explanation to remind myself why if I ever think about starting this again 😆

The way the world is structured in this series has been a problem for me since the beginning because it just truly doesn’t make any sense. I was somehow able to get past it for the first two books because the dynamics of the sister’s relationship were interesting enough but now that that’s basically resolved I just can’t anymore...

The division of the world amongst the families of Eve or whatever (and the way they’re a separate race but also not actually different in anyway other than “perfect DNA” because of their super incestuous mating rules, but they also somehow they have magical powers 🤔) and the power dynamics there don’t make any sense to me. I’m honestly not even sure what the goal is supposed to be anymore… to unite the rings and return to Eden or something? I got too annoyed with the lack of logic (and also emotion) present so I quit.

Also I thought it was ridiculous that at one point Chancery is having a conversation with Noah - who she’s known for what, like a week or two? - and suddenly he’s essentially her most trusted adviser he says “I’ve known you for a while now…” and basically to explains that he knows her better than she knows herself 😂

Much has passed through Chancery's life during the few weeks since her mother passed away. Her sister has returned and much to Chancery's joy they feel they are really starting to be a family but there still is the mistrust feeling and thoughts in their minds. They celebrate their 18th birthdays as well as Chancery's acknowledgement in front of the world that she is now the ruling queen of the Alamechca regime. At the same time she announced her executive ruling team, a mixture of evians and humans.

This in some quarters did not go down to well and promoted more trouble and stress for Chancery and her team. Even within her team there was a difference of opinion and she promised to discuss all avenues openly within, however, she would then make the final decision, sometimes this would be very unpopular with some in the group, but she had stressed this was the way it would happen. The large problems came to her from quarters she did not expect and she had some difficulty analysing why this was happening and the best and kindest way to appease everyone. This she realised was a dream because everyone's ideas and wants were different and compromise was something against her that her opponents would not give, at least they said initially.

Many problems arose from her decisions even thought her intentions were honest and compassionate, something particularly evians did not recognise. Humans on the other hand recognised this trait of hers and that she was working for their well being too, as a result she receives some surprises and feels that even though some of her decisions were very unpopular she was being recognised beyond her dreams from some areas of populations.

Chancery feels very inadequate in her role as Queen because she is not a very strict leader and has a lot of compassion for her people and is very concerned about everyone. She is also very young and only been as queen for a few weeks. Other leaders think nothing of sacrificing thousands of lives of their own people just to show who is in charge and this is what Chancery finds abhorrent. It also causes her to ask herself is she made of leadership stuff because she finds it very difficult to make these gruesome decisions. However she is determined to stay her course and that with the help of her team find a way through.

Many surprises come at her very soon after her coronation, there are a number of other kingdoms who all want to take over Alamecha now that her fearless decision making mother has passed and a wee inexperienced young lass has taken over, easy pickings some of them believe, but they are surprised at Chancery and what has occured in her kingdom because of her compassionate treatment and decision declarations of how certain people would be treated by her in the future. She is surprised by this too but feels confident she is doing the right thing in spite of her self doubt that often arises.

There are numerous plots and events that threaten Chancery and her team, however, with wise council and decision making along with a strengthened force she surprises her foe and they have to think again about this easy picking young Queen, well so they thought for a while.

This story continues on the previous books about this family and all the events that keep one guessing and striving to live, the plots are ongoing and the writer has linked them all in an interesting and lively manner. I really enjoy these Birthright stories and it has been sometime since I have enjoyed a series so much, I cannot wait for the next issues. I trust you find them as good as I have.

I have provided this review of my own accord without influence or promise of any kind from another source or person/s.

Disillusioned is the correct title for this book. Everything you thought you trusted and understood in book 1 and 2 was completely dismantled throughout this whole book. I'm not excited when an author drags you along book after book to earn more sales. The only time I like series is if it keeps moving forward, has another story about a character and makes the series more rewarding. I do not like feeling like I'm just being dragged along to purchase the next book. That is what is going on now in the series. Loved book 1 and 2 but this book 3 has destroyed anything I loved about this series. Nothing is true, everyone is lying, you cannot trust anyone. Big cliffhanger and I have no idea what the purpose was to this book other then make me dislike everyone. There were a few fun points like current human TV and pop culture references. I like not going to war over ever little thing and trying to resolve and bring people together. I believe she can be a great leader, but right now she is a lone island with no one I would trust at all. Some of it seems repetitive too. Anyway, I'm done with the series as this one made me "disillusioned" of the author and dragging a story on for profit and not entertainment.

So Much Action Packed into a Great Story!

The fun never stops as Chancery is faced with new challenges. I’m so glad to see her side of the story unfold and how she reacts to situations way beyond her comfort zone. With each new problem, she learns to depend on those around her and she grows in confidence—even if she feels out of her league. Now, if only she knew who she could really trust!

I love how the intrigue never lets up. So many plots and subterfuge happening in the world of the evians. I really appreciate how Noah stands by her side, even if he has so much to offer and not much opportunity. The love triangle and the banter between Chancery, Edam, and Noah is highly entertaining.

While this story covers some pretty serious subjects, it does it in an entertaining way. I’d highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone ages 10-1000 (just in case some evians want to read it to get caught up).

This series is getting better with each new book. We are back with Chancery in this book. Chancery is crowned as the empress. She quickly begins to right the wrongs she sees in Evian culture. Her youth makes the other leaders think she'll be easy pickings to take out. She and Judica form an alliance. There the beginnings of trust blooming. Chancery shares the prophecy with the world and then the fireworks really start. They are exposed to war and violence as they try to understand all that is happening. There is an interesting story arc with Noah. I'm curious to see how it plays out.

Chancery is still whiney and spoiled at times. Yet there were several things that just didn't seem in character for her. I dunno we'll see what happens next! Also why she decided get sister wasn't trustworthy again seemed weird to me. 🤷‍♀️ That being said it's been a lot in a very short period of time.... So I guess I'll give her a break.

I’m still enjoying the intrigue in this series, and all the twist and turns. I’m really enjoying this world building. However, Chancery, the Empress, is constantly questioning herself and goes from lows to highs. She has no self-confidence at times, and doesn’t want to make any decisions and very dramatically thinks every decision she’s made has been the worst. And then she kind of takes stock and realizes that perhaps that’s not the case. Maybe it’s because she’s 17, and thus this would be true to character. But I did find it kind of irritating how that happened several times in the book. There were also a few minor plot points that didn’t flow from one book to the next. But as I said, I’m still really enjoying the series and I’m glad I already have the next book, so I can binge read it. The narration was excellent. Note that there is a lesbian couple in the book. There’s a passing reference to it, but it’s not their relationship that is front and centre or detailed at all.

Wow, if I could give it more than 5 starts, I would. Thia book picked up where books 1 and 2 end and didn't disappoint!

So many questions answered, but new questions arise.

Friendships - new and old- were lost and found. There was action, adventure, intrigue, love, and more.

We really got to see more about Chancery. Her character has been developed so well throughout the book, and series. She grows, she stumbles, she doubts and overcomes. She learns and hesitates. She is willing to take action, but also willing to accept help.

I start to fall more in love with Edam's character as he grows - both himself and his relationship with Chancery.

Then, that huge surprise in the book - the big reveal that I totally didn't see coming !!!!

I can't wait to read the next book!!! I have to know what happens next!

This book pretty much starts when the first book one ended (in the second book it does go further into the story but in here we see what was going on while Junica was gone doing what she happened to her in book 2), with us being back to seeing Chancery's point of view, which is kinda great cause in book 2 you got to see Judica and what happens with her and seeing some of their shared past that is spoken of in the first book from a different point of view. So while in book 3 we get to know what Chancery was doing as we already know (from book 2) where Judica is.

This is another fast paced book that really draws you into the story right away and keeps you wanting more. This series is going to be long and I love it for that, I love being able to read many books and get a full story.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible)

When you are supposed to be the Queen of Queens, who can you trust when you find all those around you have been keeping their own secrets. Secrets that are treasonous at worst, devastating to your friendship at best.
Unfortunately, in this world where people can recover from most things thrown at them, except decapitation, fights are numerous and brutal. Yet, it's the short-lived and fallible humans that are used in the wars as cannon fodder. Wh9 8s to look out for their best interest?

This series is phenomenal! The farther into it you go, the more depth and intrigue you find. I love the characters. They are well-written and dynamic. The clean romance is great too. I’m not usually a fan of love triangles, and there’s definitely one guy I’m cheering on over the other, but it certainly makes it more interesting. This series will definitely keep you guessing and coming back for more!

I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.

I did receive a free copy of this book so that I could read and review. My opinions are my own.

This book continues to have action but it shifts a little from the last two. The characters are really coming into their own, especially Chancery. And as she discovers more of her world, so do we.

This one has lots of twists and turns that keep you reading long past when you should’ve gone to sleep!

I think we might be left with more questions than answers so I’m eager to finish this series to find out if some of my suspicions are true.

3.5 probably. The whining by Chancery in this book was monumental. Book could have been shorter without all the constant internal second guessing and flip flopping. And she doesn’t treat Noah the same as she did Edam when she found out Noah was lying. That annoyed me. The story is still great and I will continue with the series cause I hope the author put that awful naive part of Chancy to bed. Author is teasing us with the Edam vs Noah thing. I don’t thing it’s decided even after Chancy’s announcement. There are some good twists here, and the story ends with a couple of cliffhangers.

Great read!!! I have really enjoyed this series so far! I want more already! I really enjoy the plot and setting of this series. It’s unlike anything I’ve read before. Very interesting. So hard to choose between Edam and Noah. Love them both. Definitely curious to see what’s up with Noah’s family. I predict that it would have something to do with defendants of Adam maybe. Or another something like that. Can’t wait for the next book!!!

When did I read the WHOLE book?

Seriously, I feel like I just started this one and yet, here I am without a book to read because I had to go and read this one too quickly.

This series has really grown on me. The characters keep getting more developed and more interesting in each book. I can't wait to read from Melina's perspective next. I wish it were available already!

I need to know what will happen next ASAP!

Chancery is trying her best to figure out how to rule not just her bit of the world, but how to follow through with staking claim to basically all of earth. Queen of Queens is a pretty bold assertion and perhaps one only a naïve girl is able to make. Chancery has a rough idea of what this will entail, but perhaps not as much as her sister Judica or their older sisters might know. Certainly not what she was brought up to expect she would be thinking about at 18 years old, and not at all what the other blood-thirsty ruling families were planning for the Alamecha reign just a few short months ago. She is in a tough spot, trying to stay true to who she is while gaining/maintaining control over the masses, while mending relationships that are even more important to her than her queendom. She grows a lot in this book and it is interesting to see the other characters’ development, too.

Getting To Know You
Bridget has done it again. This is the 3rd book in her birthright series and once again I get to go into a world of mystery, intrigue, sisterly bonds and romance. I love that she is filling in the gaps of all the different relationships with her family and that we get a chance to better understand why they act the way the do sometimes. I love reading about each of their backstories. Now I am off to start reading book #4

Not good..

Loved book one and two was okay but this one just didn't pull me. It was boring, a lot of repetitive self doubts, romance is not as good, and the way the mc just shrugs off/forgive or let gov traitors were unrealistic and pathetic. Disappointed that this was a dud. DNF...

Oh wow! Once again I did not see any of what happened coming. This is an exciting adventure Bridget Baker has put me on and I want to know more! I won't spoil anything. I will say, it's a clean story, a few swear words which I don't like, and a cliffhanger type ending I really don't like. But the author is an expert storyteller and I can't wait till the next book.

I kinda lost the plot line along the way. I think there is so much going on to keep up with that I wasn’t sure if I was missing something. I still love the characters and the storyline but I feel too much was happening in this book. I’m still very much looking forward to the next book in this series. Excellent performance.

Impressive, engaging and absolutely addictive, a story that keeps you at the edge of your seat, turning pages with a pounding heart until the very end. It is always such a pleasure to read books from this amazing series, I just love all the plot twists, the tension and suspense, and just about everything else about it. 🥰

I love Chancy. She’s so sweet and trying her very hardest. With all the stuff on her shoulders, it’s a wonder she’s not dead yet. And the twist with Noah was...wow!! I’ve always liked Noah a little more than Edam but I’ve told myself that Chancy and Noah can never be a thing because he’s a human and it would break her heart. But now that we know he’s an evian... 😏

I am absolutely loving this series. This is coming from someone who normally avoids fantasy.
I pride myself in being someone who can normally predict the twists and endings of stories, however in this story I did not at all see the major twist that happened.
Incredible and I can’t put these books down. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

What a series!

Chancery is Empress and is doubting herself more than ever. So many things are changing and so quickly. As more light is being shed, more lies are uncovered, Chancery doesn’t know who to trust. She even struggles trusting her own judgment.

I really like the story of this series. The characters are compelling, though love triangles are so cliche. Also everytime I see "on accident" written it breaks my soul a little bit. It's "by accident" and will always be "by accident".
