Unbelievable. I never have enough of these books by such talented authors. An Alien plan is being devised and all of humanity is at risk. Plenty of action to make you ready for the next book.

This fifth book in the series begins with the AIC home planet, Vassar-1, basically in ruins and lost to the Shapeless Aliens, who are mopping up their operations, turning all surviving people into Alien replication fighters.  A small group of resistance fighters, led by Ben Saito, is trying to disrupt the Shapeless’ plans, before searching for a way off the planet.  Ben’s father had been taken by the Shapeless to use his technical knowledge and abilities, but now appears to Ben as having been turned, but somehow still talking to Ben about reassembling the family.  There is a lot of action to keep the reader fully engrossed, turning pages to see what comes next. I found it very hard to put down and really enjoyed the story.  I’m looking forward to the next book.  I received an advance copy and wound up buying a copy to support these great authors.

The book begins on the AIC home planet, Vassar-1 having lost the fight at the end of the last book. Ben is still alive and himself, yea, and must figure out how to get off planet and back into Earth controlled space. There was adventure, twists, craziness, and aliens abound. It was interesting watching Ben meet up with his father again and I liked the side story of Police Detective Sydal. Of course you know he must be important in the future (or that could be my hope talking). More information is revealed about the aliens and their plans, maybe... Just a fun read as expected with the random what is going on in this series. I love the mix of the aliens plot with space. I liked the original story idea.

The Shapeless aliens were capable of replacing any person or form so completely

that it was nearly impossible to detect. Ben Saito knew his father was gone, replaced by Oblivion. Ben and a small group of survivors battled against the replaced forms of friends and family. The fight for survival of the human beings not yet killed and replaced was near impossible, but still had to try their hardest to work together long enough to defeat this alien enemy who are determined to end the human presence in the Universe.
Great characters and a storyline spanning multiple volumes filled with conflict and world spanning battles against an enemy who may have been a close friend or loved one. This is a good read.

Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. Vassar-1 has fallen into ruin, with the Oblivion cultists and the Shapeless having claimed any real hope of rescue. They didn't count on the fiery determination of Ben, Ada, Tomas and LeFay fighting to kick their ass. Or die trying, taking as many of the bastards with them. What the Shapeless have planned for the survivors is beyond horrific and their plan gets darker to try save fellow survivors from a hellish. For Ben, there is an ultimate sacrifice he'll have to make to keep his friends alive. Epic, scary and heart pounding. Highly recommended.

Fantastic book! Joshua James and Daniel Young have done it again. What a great team. The story of Ben Saito still trying to believe if his father Lee is truly dead, or if the Shapeless have converted him. Meanwhile, the others are trying to survive the Shapeless, to understand who has been infected and how they might be able to get off the planet of Vassar-1 and hopefully survive long enough to alert others. I can't wait to read about what is going to happen next. Thanks, Joshua and Daniel. You guys are great.

**** SPOILER ALERT ****
Young takes us on another twist filled, action packed rollercoaster of a ride with "Beyond Ruin: Oblivion // Book Five". The author continues his superb world building and character development as we follow Ben and crew.
I can hardly wait until book six comes out!!

Great storylibe

Well another great storyline with plenty of action as per normal with Joshua James and Daniel Young. Totally enjoying this series although it is slightly confusing as to why they want to slaughter everyone lol. Hopefully bother the Saitos will come out on top

This series is continuing to evolve, still lots of action, and driven characters but the plot is definitely getting more convoluted and intricate.... it's starting to remind me of "the expanse" I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

Seemed short.

Maybe just me but this one seemed shorter than the previous books. Otherwise it’s sill a good read.
What’s next? Looking forward to it.

WoW, I got half way through this book then had to look back at the cover and title....could have swore I was reading an unknown Harry Potter story not a military sci fi story.

Still a 3

I'll stick with my rating but add something. I'm going to start book six. Obviously there is something about this story!
