Rate this book

Meet the captivating Tyndarian royalty and their forbidden loves as they dive into a world filled with danger, intrigue, and tender romance.

From mysterious spies to celebrity bad boys, powerful billionaires, and everyday individuals thrust into adventures of a lifetime, each must navigate treacherous paths in the wake of their country's shattering revolution. Will love conquer all, or will the lies rip them apart? Brace yourself to uncover secrets and join the unforgettable "Spies and Royals" in a thrilling journey where heart-pounding suspense dances hand in hand with contagious laughter and sweet, irresistible romance.

In Book two, A Runaway and HER Pirate:

Being a reformed “bad boy” is not what it’s cracked up to be. Ryker James no longer leads an aimless life filled with bored, fashionable women and questionable adventures. Getting his life back on track is oddly freeing. Now, his brother, Paris, heads out to a remote island getaway for his honeymoon, and Ryker might get his wish to spend the holidays on his own—his only company, his guilt. Unfortunately, his brother left him a parting gift: he’s setting Ryker up with the “dog sitter.”

No way will Audrey Mack take over that dog sitting job from her sweet—though perhaps thoughtless—friend, Clara… until she meets up with trouble at home. Her brother, Michael, has tangled with the wrong people and they target her next. Frightened and desperate, Audrey must go into hiding to save her brother from getting killed… and what better place than The Cove guarded by its fortress of security? The last thing she wants or expects is to find love.

But now, these two get exactly what they don’t want, and so much more.

Secrets and Danger!

Brace yourself for another crazy adventure on land and sea with the second James brother! Ryker is the star of this show and he's in fine form. Secrets and danger make trusting anyone difficult, even the girl who might be a princess. I didn't even know who to trust!! Even though this story is longer than most, the fast forward momentum kept me fully engaged from beginning to end. And if that isn't enough to entice you to read this, I have one word for you: puppies. 😍

You might want to read the previous book before this one if you haven't already.

Content: some violence, peril. Kissing.

Stephanie Fowers is great at weaving a great romance with a spine-tingling, non-stop, perilous adventure! This story is well written and exciting, with many facets to the twists and turns, and left my head reeling as I tried to figure out who the bad guys were.

Audrey finds herself entangled in this dangerous plot, as she, too, desperately tries to thwart the villains, while losing her heart to the many puppies in her care...and her pirate neighbor. *swoon* A modern-day pirate is sure fascinating--especially one such as Ryker.

I would've enjoyed this story more if I would have read the first book first. For some reason, I thought I had, but it took me awhile to grasp what was going on and who was who and I think those issues would've been resolved if I had that one under my belt, so I highly recommend reading that one first.

Overall, the Christmas setting and sweet romance really set this suspense apart and I really enjoyed my time in the Cove.

Content: mild romance; mild-moderate danger/adventure/violence

First, readers need to know that this book is part of a series and must be read in chronological order. There are a lot of different characters and backstories and trying to pick this one up and read it as a stand-alone would not be recommended. I did read the previous books in the series but struggled to reconnect with the plot as it had been a while. The story moves quickly and if you blink you’ll miss important details. There is a lot of action and many twists and turns, making it hard to figure out who the “bad guys” are.
I thought it was very well written and I enjoyed it. It reminded me of some ofCami Checketts’ work, especially the Caribbean series. I recommend it.

I just read this again. Lots of action, a great adventure.

Couldn’t finish

I’m annoyed about the time I wasted on this book. I hate quitting books but I got 60% in and gave up. I was much longer than necessary, swamped in unnecessary details all while not really making sense. The final straw was the less than 2 week old puppies frolicking and playing with a sneaker like they were 2 months old. Attention to detail is important and this book read like it was written by an 8th grader with a excessively large required word count.

Hm. This book was not my favorite one. Maybe it was because I was not reading the series in order and this is only the second book I have read from it. It was too confusing for me - I wasn't sure who are the bad and who are the good guys till the end. And though this was kind of exciting in terms of plot, but it made the relationship between Audrey and Ryker strained - they didn't know if they could trust each other and I didn't felt how they fell in love. So, yeah, not my cup of tea.
Narration: 3rd person following Audrey and Ryker
Sensuality: clean, only kissing
Religion: none
Other morals: fighting, guns, peril

Well I knew within the first few minutes that this book would be similar to the "Princess and her Billionaire Scoundrel at Sea," by this same author. It is never a good sign for me when someone is pretending to be someone they are not right out of the gates. I got to the point that I was so tired of the espionage and changing of positions that it started to feel like the book was really just going around in circles. At about 2/3 the way through, I just wanted it to be over. It did get a little better towards the end, but there was too much of not knowing who was good and who was bad and even who was who! It was a little too crazy for my blood and I got tired of not knowing who was lying and who was telling the truth.
Audrey takes the place of her friend Clara as a dog sitter in Clara's wealthy aunt's home for the month of December. Audrey ends up running from the Myrdons just exactly like Laney did in the previous book. Then there are all sorts of lies and deceptions to try to sort out throughout the story line as she and Ryker try not to fall in love with each other despite all of the lies. It gets a bit confusing as to who is running and who is hiding and who exactly is doing the chasing. Its quite convoluted and a little too much flip-flopping of feelings and positions to even be able to trust anyone in the story.
I think it would have been a lot better to simply be a little more straight forward with the story of two people with trouble pasts finding solace in each other and trying to make a straight path forward.

(4.5 stars) - Princess & the Pirate 2.0!

[This is effectively the sequel to "A Princess and Her Billionaire Scoundrel at Sea", however, it focuses on Ryker this time now that Paris & Laney are married and headed on their honeymoon. It can readily stand alone, but readers will probably enjoy the full story better.]

Ryker and Audrey have a fun meet-cute - the banter between them is amusing. And oh, those doggie matchmakers! Hilarious!

It's also amusing that the story has a sense of ordinary people (ordinary rich guy and secret princess, lol) forced into James Bond type scenarios.

Everyone's trying to figure out everyone else's angle and who to trust - if anyone - and in all the confusion, Ryker & Audrey have the added complication that each wants to protect the other from the many crazies lurking about.

It's exciting & suspenseful (& often funny) with lots of twists and turns, and I was team Ryker & Audrey (& dogs) all the way - I totally enjoyed it!

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses

Another great book by Stephanie. I haven’t read any in the series and so I can attest it can be read as a stand alone but now that I realize it is essentially a sequel I would like to read the first one. This is also part of a multi author series. A few couples are introduced in the book so I assume they are some of the other characters that found their HEA in some of the other books. This was a fun love story between Ryker and Audrey. This was a bit of a suspense with some danger involved. The book pace moved along well. And although I was able to guess some of the things that were going to happen there was lots of things that were a surprise to me as well.

Don’t miss this great Cove story, it’s full of surprising twists and adventures! Ryker and Audrey are cute, I enjoyed their story. People who are discerning and smart will pick up the clever references and fun humor which will make the story more enjoyable! I suggest reading ‘A Princess and Her Billionaire Scoundrel at Sea’ first so you get the back story and you will enjoy this romantic adventure even more! Don’t listen to the haters and their negative reviews especially when they admit to only skimming the story, you miss the good parts by reading that way! You won’t want to miss this!

Stephanie Fowers never disappoints. This story was a fun, exciting, edge-of-your-seat companion to her other Billionaire Cove book. Sweet romance with a little suspense and thrill added in. I loved the twists and turns that kept me guessing until the final pages! Fast-paced, swoony pirate, sweet heroine, and a Christmas backdrop; put together with perfection. I would happily recommend this book, but I would recommend reading the first book with Paris James, A Princess and Her Billionaire Scoundrel at Sea, so you have a full background going in. (That one is a great read, too!)

I really enjoyed this book from the first page. I loved the banter between Ryker and Audrey, and how Stephanie kept us guessing as to what people's true motives were. Although part of a series, enough back story was given that I didn't feel totally lost, and it can stand alone.

Well written, clean, and fun with a little suspense thrown in, I would recommend this book to anyone.

I was given a free copy, and this is an honest review.

This gave me vertigo!

Have enjoyed previous BBC stories, but sadly I cannot give this one an enthusiastic review. Wanted to like the characters. Too many characters doing too much that even in the end didn't make much sense. I can suspend disbelief only so far.

Crazy

Head wrecking, funny at times. You would need to read this fantasy in one go - better still read the first in this series before this crazy jaunt in Billionaire Batchelor Cove. All in all I’d say a good edit would help.

I really recommend reading this book but I think it is best that you read the one about the brother first and then this one. The plot has some interesting turns, that sometimes you don't see coming.
Nicely done!

Outstanding

This sweet clean book has as many twists and turns as a rollercoaster. It even has pirates and a man-made island. You don't want to miss it.

I loved the suspense that kept this book moving. It tied in nicely to the previous one this author wrote in this series. The characters were fun, flirty and enjoyable to get to know.
