H-P Lehkonen is a Finnish trans comics artist who has made two longer series for Webtoon (Immortal Nerd and Life Outside the Circle) and he's currently working on his Patreon exclusive series After the Fog.
H-P was born in a tiny village called Ikkeläjärvi in the Finnish countryside. The population of the village was only 150 people and because most of them were elderly, all H-P was able to do was to draw comics. It was a lucky coincidence that he happened to love comics, and here he is still making them!
H-P’s comics are all about diversity. He loves to use humor in his stories to convey positive messages. Most of his comics are queer themed and have many characters of different genders and sexualities. H-P has also been using comics in activism.
H-P is always interested in doing interviews and talking about possible collaborations. To contact H-P, please send him an email
I've been trolling around for free/cheap comics on platforms like Itch and Gumroad (this one is from the latter) and this one looked cute. At 41 pages, it's an informative look at what those of us who grew up using what we had for different purposes, thrifting before it was trending and being taught how to make things last are very good candidates for lowering our carbon footprint and our impact on the earth. I myself plan on doing several different things found in this book- hell I was already doing some! I've always taken an empty backpack to shop since, unlike my boyfriend, roommates, etc I didn't have a car since the age of fifteen and actually had to walk where I wanted/needed to go.
However, it uses a lot of space to blame environmental distress on politics and ostracize viewpoints.
All in all, it was free. And it was useful and entertaining. Also written by a queer voice, which I appreciated. Also. Have you ever thought to yourself, "Hey, I want to learn about public transportation in Finland!" well, in this pay-what-you-like comic available on Gumroad for as low as $0.00, you can!
