"First class romantic suspense!" - Cynthia Eden, NYT Bestselling Author
Publisher’s Weekly bestselling author Nichole Severn writes mind-twisting suspense and bullet-proof romance with strong heroines, heroes who dare challenge them, and cases you won’t be able to forget.
She graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Psychology and is working for her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She’s a member of Mystery Writers of America, a founding member of the Addicted to Danger Facebook group, and volunteers for a number of non-profits focused on supporting mothers.
She resides with her very supportive and patient husband, as well as her two demon spawn, in Utah. When she’s not writing, she’s constantly injuring herself training for marathons, accidentally stabbing herself with screwdrivers during her many DIY projects, or playing violin. That’s right. She stabbed herself with a screwdriver.
Pretty good. Fast read and some inconsistencies. But a nice HEA. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This book has a great theme and plot to it although I was a little bit nervous about choosing it because of the kids involved. I don’t usually read books involving children.
The twist on this one is that the FBI agent is female and she’s the one that is going back home to help solve a case. I love a strong female lead but I ended up with many mixed feelings as I was reading the story.
Without a doubt, there’s plenty of action and the “who done it” build up is nicely structured. My problem came mainly with believe-ability of the story.
Benning was completely in love with her and she upped and left. Because of his feelings, he wants to win her back. But in the middle trying to solve a kidnapping case they are dealing with feelings and passion. At one point I felt that the story was mainly about their romantic connection and the procedural part of the case is definitely took a backseat.
The story bounced a little too much for me. I was a little put off by the fact that she really didn’t do much to solve the case and definitely did not involve her team much at all. Ana was working hard at points as she did get her ass kicked and both Benning and Ana have a super human ability to stay alive.
There’s plenty of violence in this book. They were shot, beat up, knifed, shot, blown up, beat up… I can’t tell you how many times, but still kept on going, which was admirable since she was looking for a child and trying to solve the case.
On the plus side, the ending was a complete surprise. The HEA did occur but it seemed rather abrupt and I wanted a bit more in that wrap-up portion.
While Midnight Abduction was extremely entertaining and we definitely got our action, romance, and crime fiction, yay, I just had a hard time with the believable side of the story and some of the flow. However, Severn grabbed me with this one. Her talent for crime fiction and romantic suspense is top notch!
MIDNIGHT ABDUCTION (Tactical Crime Division Book #3) by Nichole Severn is the third book in the Harlequin Intrigue multi-author series featuring members of the FBIs Tactical Crime Division. This is a specialized unit of the FBI formed to handle the toughest cases at a moment’s notice anywhere in the country.
Benning Reeves is a structural inspector who discovers a skull hidden behind drywall on his current inspection site. He hides it at his home, which leads to the kidnapping of his six-year-old twins. His daughter escapes from the vehicle, but his son is now a bargaining chip in exchange for the skull.
Ava Rameriez is told by her supervisor that she has been specifically requested by Benning to work the case to find and save his son. Seven years ago, the two parted when the case she was working ended tragically. She blamed herself and vowed to never become emotionally involved again, but she cannot turn down Benning’s request.
Ava and Benning find it difficult to fight the feelings that have been dormant during their seven year separation, but they are working against the clock to save Benning’s son and discover why the skull is so important to the mysterious kidnapper.
I loved both Ava and Benning’s backstories and how the author brought their feelings for each other out again during this case and the resolution. Olivia was adorable with her love of mysteries and crime solving. There is only peripheral involvement with other members of the TCD team, so while it is still tied into the series, it is easily read as a standalone. The sex scenes are not described even as you follow them into the shower and bedroom. Though the sex is behind closed doors, the violence is not. There are several scenes of Ava and Benning being stabbed, shot and beaten to a pulp.
The plot was very fast-paced, but because of all the physical damage taken by the H/h and they just kept going, the realism and believability become strained. It was like I was reading about an action hero and not a romantic suspense. The resolution to the kidnapping and mystery also felt rushed with a character that surprised me, but who also popped up out of the blue.
I did love the H/h and the crime story and can recommend it for a fast-paced suspense addition to this series.
Midnight Abduction is another wonderful addition to the Tactical Crime Division series. The story introduces Ana Ramirez and Benning Reeves. Ana is an FBI agent who transferred to the Tactical Crime Division and Benning is a building inspector. Ana and Benning shared a romantic history, but circumstances led to them separating. However, their feelings for each other did not fade with time. So, when someone kidnapped Benning’s twins, he requested the one person he believed he could trust to find his children. It didn’t matter that she broke his heart; he knew she would give her all when it came to doing her job.
Haunted by the memories associated with a failed operation where a life was lost, Ana has withdrawn from the people she loves and lives her life in isolation. Her transfer to the TCD was an opportunity to redeem herself and the kidnapping case would be her last chance to save her career. Fast-paced and adrenaline pumping, the story kept me on my toes from start to finish.
I marvelled at the characters’ resilience. No matter the number of times the number of injuries they both suffered, which includes being shot, stabbed and beaten they never wavered in their search for Owen. I enjoyed the interactions between Ana and Olivia, Benning’s daughter. I found these moments fun and cute.
The villain was like a pesky mosquito that would not go away. I couldn’t wait for him to get what he deserved. I had some ideas about who the identity of the villain, but I did not pinpoint anyone in particular. It was a shocker learning the identity of the mastermind behind the kidnapping. Then the twist at the end was even more of a surprise.
Despite the romance not being the major feature of the story, I had hoped for a little more development. Not that they had much time to discuss the issues that led to their break up given the circumstances.
Since I started reading this series, I was waiting for a list of 'Cast of Characters' at the beginning of the book. This one had it while the previous ones did not, I wonder why. It is a feature usually present in all of the Harlequin Intrigue books.
Ana Sofia was mentioned once somewhere at the end of Book Two - Secret Investigation, of the Tactical Crime Division Series. Now we get to read Ana Sofia Ramirez's full story. I had said in the review of the previous book about missing Evan and here he is, as a partner who works with Ana and JC when a building contractor's six-year-old twins are kidnapped.
The story starts with a prologue where an injured man is out searching for his kidnapped kids, his only family. And when he specifically requests for Agent Ana, who specialises in searching for missing persons, Director Jill Pembrook of the Tactical Crime Division sends her to Sevierville, Tennessee, to look for the missing kid.
But Ana is in for a shock when she comes to know that the said kids are of none other than Benning Reeves', a former lover. A building inspector by profession, his kids were taken from his house in the middle of the night.
However many romantic suspense stories I have read, I'm always impressed by the author making it a wholesome story. The teasing banter in the midst of all the seriousness, the romance, was a much-needed relief from the nail-biting tension. What was also funny was Ana's colourful swearing in Spanish, more so because I've been learning Spanish from Duolingo for a month now.
The resilience of the protagonists is admirable. Even after they go through hell, they still march on with the injuries they keep on enduring. I loved Ana and Olivia's camaraderie, especially the mini investigator that Olivia turned out to be.
Evan and JC revealing a bit more about the workings of TCD were illuminating. While I've read plenty of badass heroines in Nichole Severn's previous books, this one was extra special since it had a comparatively ordinary hero and the heroine packed a mean punch.
The ending was so cute! And it was a perfect conclusion to the story, especially the totally unexpected identity of the kidnapper.
Thank you to the author for an e-ARC of the book.
P.S. Special mention for the diverse set of characters in this series. There are Latinos, Hispanics, African-Americans, in all a fair representation all throughout the series. I can't wait for the concluding book, Cindi Myer's Running Out of Time.
Benning Reeves is beside himself. His twin children have just been kidnapped. He begins chasing the car, despite any real hope of catching the kidnapper. Shockingly, he finds his daughter Olivia just a few minutes later. However, Owen is still missing. Why were they both taken, and how is it Olivia was released?
When the FBI hears of the kidnapping, they immediately assign the task to the Tactical Crime Division (TCD). The director tells Ana Ramirez that she will act as negotiator, although that is not her specialty. When Ana discovers that the father of the missing twins is Benning Reeves, it makes sense. The two were very close at one time. Can Benning trust Ana to get his son Owen back?
With no ransom demand it quickly becomes apparent why the children were taken. Benning realizes that the he the catalyst behind the kinapping and he must do whatever it takes to get Owen back. Every second that passes shows that time is indeed running out. Will Benning be able to pacify the kidnappers and get Owen back safely?
What a thrilling story for this third book in the Tactical Crime Division series. Although very little time is available to find Owen, Benning and Ana's old feelings for one another begin to resurface. However, just like the first two books in the series, romance takes a back seat to the taut suspense woven between the pages of this book.
I loved this book and was drawn into the drama involved when it came to finding Owen. However, both Benning and Ana reminded me of the Energizer Bunny. They literally got their butts kicked in one way or another quite a bit in this book. Yet they kept bouncing back up to stay on the chase. Other than that, I loved the book and the rest of the TCD members that were in this story. This fast-moving story fits right in with this thrilling series.
Many thanks to Harlequin Intrigue and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
You're taken straight into the action in this third book in the series as Ana Ramirez is told to go help retrieve twins who have been kidnapped at the direct request of their father, Benning Reeves. Benning is the man she left behind more than seven years ago but he's also the man she's never forgotten. Now she's determined to help get back the children before it is too late..... Can they rescue Owen before the kidnapper harms him? Who is the kidnapper and what do they really want? Can they bring the kidnapper to justice?
This is a suspense filled drama where you're kept guessing and on the edge of your seat. You've just got to love the precociousness of Olivia, Benning's daughter who is fascinated by true crime and wants to be a crime scene investigator or PI when she grows up! There are plenty of twists and turns in this story and both Ana and Benning keep getting injured but somehow keep on going, determined to rescue Owen - despite being shot, stabbed, falling two floors through glass and so much more! The attraction between the two is still there after all the years but finding Owen is the priority. Though other members of the team are involved in the investigation they don't have as high profile as in the earlier books. The ending is so cute!!
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it to be a real page turner!
This is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division series in the Harlequin Intrigue imprint by Nichole Severn.
Benning Reeves lost Ava Rameriez seven years ago when she chose her job over him. Now he needs her expertise. He has twins. One girl and one boy. The mission that tore them apart is surfacing again. Benning had discovered a skull on one of his work sites. He hid it after the discovery but someone doesn't want that artifact coming out in the open again. To retialiate, the man kidnapped his son. Ava decides to assist him but seeing him again is bringing up too many memories.
The action scenes are pretty vicious here. I am not sure how they are even walking by the halfway mark. The story is action-packed. It never stops long enough for the two of them to reacquaint themselves.
I like how the thing that broke them up is what is bringing them back together again in the end. But I almost think the action is too over the top. It takes away from the emotional story that the author has built. I am not saying it is written badly. The scenes are solid and prove what a formidable force the bad guy is. I just think it is a bit over the top.
This feels like it should be a more team focused story. I missed seeing more connection to the Tactical Unit. That would make the whole plotline more cohesive.
I never usually say this but I think this story should have been longer so we can have more of every aspect.
Great read nonetheless. Definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
If you are looking for a good romantic suspense book, definitely check this one out.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Fast-paced suspense along with a second chance romance. The story opens as Benning's twin children, Owen and Olivia, are kidnapped from their home. Benning has something that the kidnapper wants, and the children are his insurance to get it. For some reason, the kidnapper quickly releases Olivia, but keeps Owen. Desperate to get his children back, Benning contacts the FBI and requests the only person he trusts to help him - Agent Ana Ramirez. He and Ana were a couple seven years earlier, but when the case she was working on ended badly, Ana walked away from Benning.
In the past seven years, Ana has acquired an impressive record of finding missing and kidnapped people. She has a laser-like focus on doing everything needed to find those victims. Ana is driven by the memory of her failure years before and blames herself for allowing her feelings for Benning to distract her from her job. Since that time she has kept people at a distance and keeping her emotions out of her work. She is stunned when she discovers that her new assignment is to recover Benning's son.
This story is action-packed from the beginning. The bad guy desperately wants the item that Benning found during one of his inspections and will do anything to get it. Things get complicated when Benning discovers that the item is no longer where he left it. It seems that every time Benning and Ana get a lead on how to find either Owen or the item, the bad guy is right there to stop them. They survive shootings, fires, explosions, stabbings, blows to the head, and just about any other injury imaginable while refusing to give in until they find Owen. As the case progresses, it also becomes evident that the bad guy has something personal against Ana, and it has something to do with the unsolved case from seven years earlier. By the time the final confrontation came, I was on the edge of my seat wondering how Ana would get out of it alive. The identity of the bad guy was a shock.
I enjoyed the rekindling of the relationship between Benning and Ana. It is obvious from the start that the sparks between them are as strong as ever. Ana is still consumed by guilt over letting her relationship with Benning distract her from that earlier case and tries very hard to keep Benning at a distance. Benning realizes early on that his feelings for Ana are just as strong as they were before, but getting past Ana's defenses won't be easy. Her journey to forgiving herself wasn't an easy one, and the final step came from an unexpected source. With that, Ana is now able to allow her love for Benning show. The ending was sweet, with Owen and Olivia joining Benning in a surprise for Ana.
Nichole did a awesome job with this story. Its a great second chance romance. With great mystery and action. I love Ana Ramirez. She's a strong character who has dealt with alot. Benning Reeves and his twins are a great opposite for Anna. The love they had at one time keeps creeping up. It makes for a great story. The person who steals the twins and keeps them will surprise you. She does a excellent job of weaving the story from the start to finish. She gets you involved in the story. You will be cheering for Ana and Benning to the finish. Its a great book to the end. J
This is the first Tactical Crime Division book that I have read and the first book by this author. I liked the TCD part of the book, although I must say the whole team was not very involved in solving the case. This was more a solo act by Agent Ana Ramirez who is called to help Benning Reeves find his kidnapped children. The children were adorable and very precocious, seeming to me to be too far advanced for six year olds. Benning and Ana have a romantic history and when she is not going into action with guns, knives and whatever other weapon you can think of, she and Benning are engaged in what can only be termed as foreplay. In addition, there was a lot of blood and gore and violence so this book would not be for anyone who want a clean read. The action was non-stop but not at all believable since I was supposed to believe that Ana could take on all of the bad guys single handedly, be wounded seriously and repeatedly and keep coming back for more. The ending seemed rushed, with a fast beginning a fast middle and a rush to the finish. I liked the premise of the story, but the entire story was too much make-believe and too little realism for me. Also, I hesitate to say this, but I was put off by the author’s dedication of the book to herself at the beginning. Arrogance is never a way to impress me! Midnight Abduction by Nichole Severn is the second novel in the Tactical Crime Division series. Benning Reeves is attacked, and his twins are kidnapped. He knows one person who can help him: Ana Ramirez. Ana is a former girlfriend and a member of the Tactical Crime Division. They may have broken up, but their feelings for each other have not gone away. They must put them aside and focus on locating the twins. The men who took his kids are ruthless. Benning uncovered something during an inspection that the bad guys want returned. Can Ana and the Tactical Crime Division get the twins back safely? I thought it was well-written and moved along at a speedy pace. There is plenty of action in this romantic suspense novel. I do want readers to know that the story contains violence (people are shot, knifed, blown up, beat up) along with foul language. Each book in the TCD series can be read on its own. I like that Benning and Ana are strong characters. They keep going no matter what happens to them (I would have asked for morphine and passed out in a comfy bed). I just loved the ending of Midnight Abduction. Midnight Abduction is a thrilling novel that will have you up late to finish it.
This romantic suspense novel is heavy on the suspense which I really loved. I do think it was a little weird to have a romance while your 6 year old son is missing. I found myself having to suspend belief more than once during this story. But I did really enjoy Ramirez and Reeves together and I loved seeing them reconnect.
*Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Midnight Abduction was my first attempt at crime fiction. There was a nice build up of suspense of the abduction with plenty of action and near death experienced. It was thrilling and I loved the adrenaline rush.
However, I doubt the reality of the story. Both Benning and Ana had suffered multiple life-threatening injuries such as knife wounds, gun-shots, beatings, and head blows within three days and they were still up and running to save the missing child.
Since the book was part of the Tactical Crime Division series, I was expecting more involvement of the TCD and more team effort at solving the case. It seemed like Ana was there but didn't really do much to solve the case except putting herself into danger as punishment for her past.
The romance side of the story was tolerable but I think there was room for development. Benning and Ana were together seven years ago but Ana ghosted Benning one night. The second-chance at their relationship went too smoothly without any angst or grovelling. I find that their HEA was wrapped up too hastily.
Overall, this book was a decent read with lots of actions and suspense. Personally, I find that crime fiction is not really my cup of tea but I'll still keep my options open.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Midnight Abduction is a fast-paced romantic suspense with a fierce female lead! Book 3 in the Tactical Crime Division is action-packed creating constant obstacles for the main characters. Ana Ramirez is tasked with recovering Benning Reeves twins. There is added tension because Ana and Benning used to be involved but she broke his heart. Now, he has to trust her enough to find his kids.
Ana Ramirez is fierce and fiery. She is one hell of a heroine in the story. When she learns that the twins missing belongs to Benning she has to keep her emotions in check. There are still feelings between the two but they have focus on getting the kids back.
Ana and Benning are working together and doing whatever they can to get his twins back home and safe. They are hit with lots of fights, bruises, and scars but continue to push through.
I give Midnight Abduction 4 stars. I really enjoyed the action but I felt like there could have been a little more detail to their relationship but I still felt the chemistry between the two.
Midnight Abduction was my first attempt at crime fiction. There was a nice build up of suspense of the abduction with plenty of action and near death experienced. It was thrilling and I loved the adrenaline rush.

Ana Sofia Ramirez is an agent in the Tactical Crimes Division with the highest recovery rates in the FBI. Benning Reeves is a construction site inspector whose six year old twins were the target of an abduction, resulting in Owen kidnapped and Olivia hospitalized. Ana is assigned to the case, not only for her expertise but due to her past relationship with Benning prior to the birth of his children.
While working to locate Owen, Ana proves herself to be an extraordinary and resourceful agent. This story is action packed from the first chapter to the very end! There are no shortage of twists, suspense, or combat. The current storyline mirrors a case from Anna’s past, making her even more invested and motivated to solve the case. That dynamic was a fantastic edition!
The relationship with Ana and Benning is explored both in their past and while the case in unfolding in the present. Their dynamic is hard to unpack, with Ana having serious baggage and Benning holding a torch for her for years, despite how everything initially ended. However, their chemistry is undeniable.
This is my first experience with the Harlequin Intrigue line and it very much lived up to it’s description. I was hooked on the story and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next and how everything would come together. I’m glad this line publishes multiple books each month because I know I’m going to be diving into more very soon!
I received an advanced copy of the ebook of this title from the publisher via Netgalley; all opinions are my own.
Wow, what can I say, this book is fantastic! I loved the whole thing. Nichole Severn knows how to grab your attention and keep it interesting. There were so many twists and turns in this book it kept me engrossed. This the third book in the Tactical Crime Division series. I will tell the truth I haven't read the first 2 books. But I plan to read them. I got this ARC for my honest review.
Nichole has done it again! This book is a second-chance romantic suspense, full of action, some romance, and, of course, a HEA!
Ana Ramirez, a member of the TCD, is all about her job and bringing missing people home. Her past has led her to focus only on that and, in doing that, she keeps everyone at arm's length, never allowing them to get close, until, that is, she gets assigned a case involving an old flame, Benning Reeves.
Benning Reeves, a construction inspector, comes across something in one of his inspections that sets off a series of events where his 6-year-old twins are kidnapped. He recovers his daughter, but his son is still missing. He calls the only person he trusts to get his son back, Ana Ramirez. The woman who disappeared on him in the middle of the night seven years earlier.
This was a wild ride with a H/h that I grew to love! Ana is a kick-butt, take-no-names person. I love how strong she is and that she'll bring the missing person home if it kills her. Benning was so supporting and loving, protective and HOT! I can't wait to read the rest of this continuity series.
Disclosure: I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest opinion.
An Absolutely Amazing and Action packed Suspense . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Midnight Abduction . This story took off from the start and didnot slow down till the end . It's So full of pulse pounding action and suspense . I was entirely captivated . Tactical Crime Division Agent Ana Sofia Ramirez is in charge of Abduction of a six year old boy . She is shocked to find his father specially requested only her. She found out he was the only man she ever loved and had walked out on him seven years ago after a case she worked on went terribly wrong . She soon finds herself dealing with a whole lot more than her buried feelings . She and Benning Reeves will be fighting for their lives and his twins also . This story is well written. The characters are fabulous . I didnot and could not put this story down . It's definitely a five Star read . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
First let me say that I accepted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. This is a new series written by serveral authors, and Ms. Severn’s is the third in the series. It was amazing. I couldn’t put it down. When a little boy and girl go missing Agent Ana Sofia Ramirez part of the Tactical Crime Division is requested by the father for her specifically to help him get his children back. Her boss tells her she will go undercover, and play the part in order to find who has kidnapped them. She has a history with the father of the twins. The weird thing is when Olivia one of the twins is found, but not the boy Owen. Ana is trying he best to not let things get on the way because of the history between and Benning Reeve’s. It’s down to the wire, and things are getting complicated. They don’t know who has Owen, the boy...But Ana will stop at nothing to bring him home safely even if she puts her own life at risk.
Buy the book, actually Pre-order now. It’s so good. Not too be missed is the Blackhawk Series by Ms. Severn. In that series she brings great characters, and great suspense like this book.
This story is Benning and Ana's story. They met when she was working another case and she leaves after that case doesn't end well. Now their back together when Benning's twins are taken. This book is full of action, suspense ,twists and turns and mystery. Benning and Ana are strong characters. Nichole gets you so involved from the beginning that you don't want to stop reading till your done. Well written.
What a fabulous read, I need more stars, because this one is 5 star PLUS!
Benning Reeves has twin 6 year olds, Olivia and Owen, when they are kidnapped he calls in agent Ana Sofia Ramirez to recover his twins, and their nanny..I never give spoilers in my reviews but, Ana is such a kick-ass take names later kinda gal, gutsy, determined, stubborn and passionate, and in my honest opinion the BEST female character Nichole Severn has written! And Benning was made for her..This book just flows so well, has a great storyline and plot twists and turns, you wont be able to turn the pages fast enough..if you have never read a Nichole Severn book start with this one! PS, I can't tell you what happens to the nanny..just read the book 🙂
Midnight Abduction A Harlequin Intrigue Nichole Severn Agent Ana Ramirez is all business on the outside, calm professional and only living to do her job, to bring missing people home. Until the day her past flame calls for her help. Sweet Benning can trust no one else to find his abducted boy Owen. Lots of drama, gun fights and shooting, this book has all the action and suspense. A little out there in terms of realism but a fast paced quick read as you would expect from a harlequin intrigue. A stand-alone short novel with hea. I received an arc of this book. 3 1/2 stars
This is full of action and intrigue as you might expect from this author. The Benning twins are delightful. The two main characters, Benning and Ana, are strong characters. You need to remember when reading this, that it is a work of fiction. The amount of abuse and injury Benning and Ana's bodies receive is a little unbelievable, but just ignore that and enjoy the read. An enjoyable read.
Midnight Abduction is the 3rd book in the Tactical Crime Division series. Once again Nicole Severn does an excellent job of pulling the reader into the book. It is very well written, and action packed and I always enjoy reading a HEA ending.
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of the book from NetGalley and Harqeluin Intrigue in exchange for my fair and honest review.
Midnight Abduction was an enjoyable read from beginning to end but be prepared to step out of reality a bit for the action/fight scenes. Severn definitely pulls no punches with the main characters in this story as they are repeatedly abused (punched, stabbed, shot, multiple head knocks)…you name it and these two suffered it while trying to solve the case.
Ana and Benning were both intriguing characters and they had a passionate past with a rocky breakup and an uncomfortable reunion simmering with past memories as they work together to find Benning’s kidnapped children. These two characters were great together and I really enjoyed their interactions throughout the story.
This is the first book of the Tactical Crime Division series I have read and with it being book three in the series, I did feel like I was coming into the middle of something with Ana and Benning with how the book started, but that feeling was not strong enough to deter me from reading and once I got into the story I had no problem keeping up. I do not know if these characters and their situations were mentioned in previous books in the series or if that was just the impression I got when I started reading? However, either way, it was an engaging, exciting read loaded with action, suspense, danger, and romance. I will definitely be looking into the first two books to see what all I have missed.
*I received an arc copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily providing my honest review. I am looking forward to grabbing this one, along with the rest of the series.
Midnight Abduction was a great intrigue from Nichole Severn. I really enjoyed this one from page one when you're thrown into the chaos that is Ana and Benning. When Benning's six-year-old twins are kidnapped, he only knows one person to call, Agent Ana, his old fling, and the best FBI agent around.
I will say you will have to suspend reality with this book, especially if you're in the medical field, when it comes to the massive amount of fight scenes, shootings, stabbings, and hits on the head these two characters take in an attempt to save his son. I didn't deduct a star from it because the scenes generally moved the story forward, but I don't know a human on earth who can withstand the beatings these two took.
Moving on.
It is hard to review this one because of spoilers, but I will say, holy action Batman! It never stops from start to finish and you can't help but root for these two former lovers, not only to find his son but to find their way back to each other. Nichole can write an intrigue that keeps you turning the pages and never gives you a moment where you aren't wondering where this is going, who is behind it, and what's going to happen next. The HEA at the end definitely made up for all the pain and anguish you go through to get there!
If you're looking for a page-turning intrigue that will keep you up way too late into the night, definitely pick up Midnight Abduction!
Benning Reeves is desperate when his six year old twins, Olivia and Owen, are kidnapped. He contacts the Tactical Crime Division and requests the one person he could count on, Ana Ramirez. Benning and the special agent had been involved until she walked out on him. However, he knows she’s good at her job and can find his children.
Ana Ramirez is not thrilled to be assigned to her former lover’s case, but she can’t turn her back on two young children. If it means spending time with Benning, then she’ll do it. The big question for her is why Benning and his children have been targeted.
This is the third book in the Tactical Crime Division, but it can be read on its own. I didn’t read the two previous books and I don’t feel like I missed anything. This story is contained in this book - it starts and ends here. No cliffhangers.
I really liked Benning and Ana. Both are strong characters. It was a bit superhero-ish as they both had enough broken bones and gunshots to make you wonder how they kept going, but they did. Very similar to any TV show or movie I’ve watched where the hero and/or heroine kept getting up no matter how often they were knocked down.
I thought the romance took a backseat to the mystery but that’s to be expected when children are involved. I would expect Benning to be more concerned about his children than rekindling an old romance. The balance between both were handled well.
To say this story is an adventurous roller coaster would be an understatement. The action never takes a breather in this romantic suspense. Talk about a fast-paced book. That is more than true in this one. I sped right through it. This is 256 pages of excitement, mystery, intrigue and romance. My heart is still racing. I’ll definitely be reading more in this series.

Midnight Abduction by Nichole Severn Tactical Crime Division (TCD) #3
Benning Reeves has had the worst day of his life when he realizes one of his twins is in the hospital and the other is being held hostage by a killer. All he has to do is not contact the FBI or police and return a skull to the madman and all will be well…or will it really? I mean, who can trust a madman killer? So, he reaches out to the woman he knew and loved seven years ago – an FBI agent with the specialty of finding those who have been taken. And, moments after Agent Ramirez arrives the fireworks begin. From that point on it is a life or death situation that includes, knives, guns, crowbars, axes, deceit, bombs, fisticuffs, psychological warfare and a w hole lot more. Will the TCD team win or will the bad guy get away with…murder, kidnapping and more?
What I liked: * Agent Ramirez: a tough cookie that has sealed off her emotions in order to focus her attention on her job. This case may crack her protective shell as she deals with the man she once loved. * Benning: a good man, great father, a person who does what is right, and totally willing to do what it takes to get his children back…and woo Ana again. * The pace and action * The writing * The amazing recuperative powers of the two main characters they seem to have terminator healing abilities (have to suspend medical reality a bit to believe all they endure and are able to come out still standing) * Owen and Olivia: twins that were interesting young people – perhaps geniuses with their reading and other abilities or perhaps just written older than most normal six year old children really are. * The HEA for the two main characters * That those who were evil were unveiled and justice was served.
What I did not like: * The bad guys
