Nothing will stop army ranger Grey Nighthorse from finding his abducted daughter—except maybe whoever is trying to kill him. Hiring former FBI agent Rachel Martin is his best shot at tracking down the kidnappers and staying alive. But Rachel failed to save a child before. Can she risk everything again to rescue Grey’s little girl…and perhaps become part of the family she’s trying to reunite?
Jane M. Choate dreamed of writing from the time she was a small child when she used to entertain her friends with made-up stories. Her true writing career began when she penned a story for a children’s magazine, sent it in on a whim, and found, to her delight, that it was accepted. Someone was paying her to write! Writing for Love Inspired Suspense is a dream come true. Jane is the proud mother of five children and grandmother to four grandchildren.
What a heart-in-throat page-turner of a read! A twisted tale of murder and betrayal with an impossible to track villain who is bent on destruction. But just who is this villain and what exactly is his end game? You'll have to race-read your way to the volatile end to find out.
Loved the dynamics between Rachel and Grey. She's as tough as the army ranger and just as good at kick-butt tactics when it comes to facing off with criminals. He respects her talent and professionalism, but he also sees through the chinks in the wall she's built around her heart. Happy toe-curling sighs ensued from this reader, even as I dodged bullets right along with this dynamic duo.
A short suspense that I liked. Rachel is former FBI and Grey a Ranger who’s home on hardship leave after his daughter’s kidnapping. The relationship between the two was the best part of the book for me.
The ending was weak as the culprit told all about the crime instead of the leads figuring it out by clues. I didn’t think the bad guy(s) character quite fit the given motivations and sudden unveiling. Otherwise I’d have given an extra star.
Also I don’t think the Rangers can just up and decide to leave without notice...I thought there was a process for that. I may be wrong.
Connection to other books: Rachel’s coworker Shelley is featured in The Littlest Witness by the same author.
I almost didn't read this book because I feared the cover and title would lead to a dark story of a child's murder. Instead, this is a page turning mystery with action AND great ending. Yes. Read it.
I'd never read this author before. I love suspense and the cover grabbed at me from the shelves. I am happy I bought it. Choate has created well done characters with a great plot, very great plot, and the action and suspense never let up. Not for a minute. Recommended.
The opening honours to the lost children is very special even to me. It is a great book that is well done by Jane. It is full of suspense and action. It is fast paced with lots of things happening. There is a sense of honour between Grey Nighthorse and FBI agent Rachel Martin. You can see the respect grow between the two of them. Finding Lily reveals things that are surprising and sad. Who is behind thing will surprise you. The way Jane writes the story she keeps you spellbound through out the story. It is hard to put the story down. I love the way the two work together. They are like one unit. Its a great book and I look forward to the next book. J
This was a fast-paced story with action, suspense, and romance. Grey is a Ranger who is deployed overseas when he finds out his baby daughter has been kidnapped. He comes home on leave and hires Rachel. She is former FBI, and now works at a private company. I loved the relationship that grew between Rachel, and Gray. I lost count on how many times the two almost died. This was an intense book that kept me on the edge of my seat. The first time I read a book by Jane. M. Choate was, “ The Littlest Witness.” It was also an excellent book. I think I have found a new favorite author. Time to look for more of her books.
This is some book!!!! I know there !are some cold-hearted and evil people in the world, but I'm glad I don't personally know any. I can't stand the thought of a baby or a small child being harmed.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Stolen Child. Jane is an excellent author and I know you are going to love this book. Ir's well written, action packed, and full of faith. You will love her characters.
Army Ranger Grey Nighthorse is back in the states to find his daughter. She has been abducted. As he reaches his mother-in-law's home he's shot at. Who knew he was coming here? The kidnappers? He can't do this alone. He hires S&J Security/Protecion. One his his close buddies work there. They will help him. They assign a former FBI Agent that was trained in a task force on child abductions. He's not sure this woman can handle this.
Ex-FBI Agent Rachel Martin left the FBI after losing a child. Her failure to save the child caused her to loose her faith, panic attacks, sleepless nights, and take therapy. Can she do this? As she listens to the Ranger and her boss a panic attack comes over her. Her boss knew why she left the FBI. Why was she asking this of her? If she lost another child she wouldn't survive. As she listens she becomes intrigued.
A journey of two broken souls trying to find a precious child and stay one step ahead of a killer. God has a plan for these people, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life. I know that we are living in a time of fear and terror but God can protect you and your family if you allow Him to come into your life.
