Hate to Love You

Rate this book
Dive into this sizzling romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Melissa Schroeder.

He is absolutely, completely, and undoubtedly the one man I shouldn't fantasize about.

Other than being my boss, he's too rigid, a workaholic with a checkered past when it comes to women. Knowing all that, I shouldn't think about how his hands would feel on my body, or how his voice would sound when he whispered my name in the dark.

But I can resist him. Mainly because he can't stand me, and he's the kind of boss who makes me think about murder on a daily basis. That's until he shows me his softer side and ignoring my need for him becomes impossible.

No, softer side or not, I have to resist the lure of Grady Hawthorne because if I don't, I'm pretty sure I won't survive the fall.

Warning: This book includes a smack-talking executive assistant, a workaholic boss who has the most amazing...mouth, irritating siblings, a drunken night that ends in jail, and a happily ever after that will make you sigh. Author assumes no responsibility for overheated readers.

This is a standalone romantic comedy with no cheating and an HEA.

I actually have to wait for half of the book for them the couple here to finally get their sh*t together and finally claim each other. Half of the book is just them back and forth being childish and stupid at the same time. Not wanting each other, getting know each other more and realizes their feelings but took them a while to even say it out loud secretly want each other, obsessed hero with the heroine and too afraid to tell the heroine LIKE WHAT THE ACTUALLY FCK IS GOING ON.... AND THE HERO JUST LIKES THE HEROINE AND FINALLY SEE HER AS A SPECIAL WOMAN FOR HIM AFTER 2 YEARS OF WORKING WITH HER AND WITH ANOTHER WOMAN. He even said after he finally likes the heroine for sure that its been 3 months since he last hook up like wtf? I WANT A HERO WHO’S AFTER HE SEE THE HEROINE OR REALIZES SHE’S THE ONE, THEN BAM! CHASE HER AND CLAIMED HER ASAP. But noooo... this hero was going through a stupidity childish island for two years and couple of months to finally be smart lol

This was an okay read - I sorta enjoyed it, but absolutely will not remember it in a week...

My initial struggle with this book was the sheer amount of characters we are introduced to at the start. I understand that authors write their books with the next five books mapped out, but sometimes over saturating us with characters means it is really hard to keep up with what is going on.

Anyhow, Grady's actually a nice guy - we see throughout that he is not the dickish CEO that Sydney thinks he is and Syd is also pretty likeable. Overall this book was a fun - but predictable.

5star review Hate To Love You (The Fillmores #1) by Melissa Schroeder

This is the first book in The Fillmore series and is Grady Hawthorne and Sydney Fillmore’s story which was fun and entertaining. It is well written with characters who you cannot help but fall for and who are easy to relate too.
Sydney has been working for Grady for some time and she enjoys “poking the bear”. For Grady, Syd is a fabulous assistance and he becomes uneasy as he starts to develop feelings for her that he should not have since he is her boss. This is a work place, enemies to lovers story that ticked the boxes for me.
It was fun to watch both Grady and Syd struggle with the attraction that sizzles between them, add in interfering family and friends and you know you are in for an entertaining read. There was witty banter, passion and miss communication a plenty in Hate To Love You and I enjoyed it all. I also enjoyed the relationships that both Grady and Syd had with their siblings.
This was a fun book that left me with a smile on my face.

I'm giving this one 3 1/2 stars. Grady is a wealthy CEO of a company that creates TV shows. Sydney works for him as his assistant. Grady has feelings for Sydney but knows nothing can come of it since she works for him. So he makes himself the Boss from Hell. Sydney wants her boss in bed, of course, but knows she shouldn't mess around at work. This, in turn, makes her hate Grady even more. I liked the story and the characters. Did it fulfill the title? Not really. I wanted more hate, and I love when a story delivers that. I needed more animosity between the H and h. Sure there was some mean texting at the beginning. But it would have been great if it had lasted a little longer, so that we can't stand them being apart one more second. About 25% in when he shows her how kind he is, it just killed any tension that was building. But the chemistry was great and Schroeder wrote a very good romance novel. Maybe it should have been titled differently.

Hate to Love You by Melissa Schroeder Hate to Love You: An Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy By: Melissa Schroeder
Do I "Hate to Love You," or Do I Just "Hate to Love You" When You're NEXT To Me!?!
Ohhh how I "Hate to Love You" EVERY second of the Day...
That's what I think about My DEMANDING BOSS,
Who fires My Body & My Temper...
While Challenging Me~ Ohhh Sooo Spectacularly!
Sooo YEAH... I "Hate to Love You,"
But I'll NEVER tell...
Cuz if you're Arrogant & Demanding Now, Can you Imagine if I fueled the Fire behind those Eyes~ Sigh!
She's My assistant, & I cannot cross the Line...
Which is why I watch Her like a predator wait'n for Prey!
If I could, I'd devour Her...
But since I can't I'm Obsessed, Demanding, & quite the @. $. $!
But as Time passes...
I realize how much I "Hate to Love You" with Each passing Day!
Cuz sooner or LATER, I'm gonna Break...
And when I DO, Hang ON TIGHT,
Cuz it's YOU... I'm gonna take!
As I don't "Hate to Love You,"
Sooo much as I "Hate to Love You" from AFAR!
I was granted, via B00|{$P®0UT, an ARC of Melissa Schroeder's "Hate to Love You: An Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy." I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given!

Hate To Love You is the first book in Melissa’s new series. You are going to love this book it has romance and comedy all wrapped together! We meet Grady Hawthorne anal CEO of Hawthorne Enterprises and his administrative assistant Syd Fillmore. Syd is super organized and perfect for the uptight CEO who has recently taken over the position since his dad retired. Grady and Syd have an interesting relationship to say the least they may be employee and boss and appear to aggravate each other but from the start you can see that there is a chemistry between them. We also meet Syd’s brother Travis who appears on a home improvement show flipping homes with his costar Nancy who is Syd’s best friend, she is an interior designer and oh did I mention she’s had a crush on Travis and he is being an idiot and not only will he use a show cohost but a special friend! Grady’s brothers, Carter and Gavin play a role in the running of the business, and Quinn another brother is a graphics artist and writer. If you’ve been reading the Camos and Cupcakes series you will find several of the folks in this book! Throw in a bachelor party, wedding, a work trip, severe migraines, falling hard ford boss and lots of other twists and you get a book that’s hard to put down! You also get to watch two people show each other their softer caring side.

This is the first book in a new series by Melissa Schroeder who once again brings strong, well developed characters and an entertaining story line. She does a fantastic job developing the story and pulls you in with all the humor and fun sexy scenes. The supporting characters play a huge role in bringing the story around along with the hot chemistry between Sydney and Grady. It's well written with descriptive scenes and moves quickly and smoothly. I had some laugh out loud moments reading this one. I loved and would highly recommend this book.

Hate to Love You is a standalone story featuring characters from the world of Ms Schroeder's wonderful Camos and Cupcakes series, and it's a very readable story. That was not only entertaining, but full of heat and humour. And with little angst and lots of appealing characters, I was easily absorbed throughout. Therefore, I would happily recommend it to others.

Absolutely best romantic comedy , First book I have read from this author and loved it, Sydney Fillmore is sassy, bold, bad ass, ( you will love he ) , Assistant to Grady Hawthorne Bossy, uptight CEO. They differently have an interesting work relationship and aggravate each other. Throw in a bachelorette party, wedding , and migraine and other events, twists ,. You sill not want to put the book down, I laughed when I Syd said best friends name as Nancy ad a Sex Pistols fan . Love the dynamic of their friendship

Absolutely love Sydney, she’s tough, ballsy, and intelligent. Grady is doing everything he can not to be like her other bosses. He and his brothers have a wonderful relationship and their parents are adorable. Syd has her brother Travis, we met him in the Camos and Cupcakes series. Grady was in the series briefly, his story actually happens parallel to the Scrumptious book. Characters to live with friendships we adore, another fabulous series starter. I received an early copy and the review was provided voluntarily.

Sydney and Grady are such a beautiful couple. He is like this really tough, egotistical jerk on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside. She is gorgeous, smart and doesn't put up with his bull. They are both bull headed and secretly have the hots for each other. It seems everyone knew but them. It is funny, heart breaking and an HEA that I just couldn't put down.

3.2 ⭐

The amount of fucking times she said "my lady bits" I can't- 😭🤚 I think she did that more than she breathed- like no- just personally for me that doesn't really do it for me- otherwise I think it was an okay book I don't love it, and I don't hate it so it's somewhere in the middle but I've definitely read a lost worse

I was sad when the Camos and Cupcake series ended, but Hate to Love You is kind of a spin off and gives a whole slew of new characters to enjoy.

I liked that Sydney was intelligent, strong, kind of brash, sarcastic, yet easy going, and a genuinely nice person. She and Grady worked so well together, and the sexual tension started building from the very beginning. I liked the fact that Grady respected Syd, her intelligence, her professionalism, and recognized her competence to move beyond the job she held.

Even when Grady made a supremely dumb move, I couldn't really be mad at him because I knew he wasn't going to try and hold Sydney back. He had a moment of stupidity.

I also loved Syd and Nancy's friendship. They could read one another and practically finish the other person's sentence. They seemed to have a number of "Brown liquor" experiences.

I enjoyed all the secondary characters, and can't wait for their stories. This book was sweet, sexy, romantic, a funny with a tiny pinch of angst. A definite 4.5 stars read.

It is hard to be a woman in a mans world. Syd knows this firsthand. She has liked Grady from the star but he is her boss and he infuriates her to no end. No matter what Syd wants to prove that she can do her job just as good as any man and can stand on her merits. Grady is a temptation that is hard to resist. Grady is fighting his own battle with temptation. Syd is one he should not succumb to but the more he tries to resist the harder it gets. The attraction between the two is off the charts and there is no use fighting it.
I enjoyed seeing these two find their way. There is a lot going on in this book with a wedding and a trip and more but it just adds to the enjoyment. These two were meant to be and there is no stopping love. This is a fun and engaging book with great characters. It pulled me in right form the start and moves along at a good pace keeping my attention all the way to the end. I am eager to see what will happen next in this new series.

*Review based on audiobook*

Honestly, I would have LOVED this book more if there were different narrators. I finished it, but it was a struggle. The storyline was great; the FC was feisty and kick ass, and the MC was a hidden gem of a man who cares deeply for the FC. The low rating was because of the narration. (The female narrator was NOT for me).

HEA - Yes
Angst - Low
Plot - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steam - 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Slow burn)
Cheating - No
Narration -👎
Recommend - Yes, but the book, not the audio.

*Sidenote: As a person with ADHD, I found the way the MC belittled his younger brother, who has ADHD, awful! The MC treated him as if he was developmentally delayed, all because we were "hyper" at times.

Sweet ! Sassy! Captivating!

Sydney and Grady had off the chart chemistry once they stopped fighting it. I admired Sydney's determination to move up in the corporate world, on her merit alone. So she refused to give into her feelings for Grady in order to save her reputation. Grady's parents were so kind to her, but there seemed to be a bit of match making going on.

Sydney and best friend, Nancy, were hysterical together and lifted each other up when the going got tough! Sydney's brother, Travis, was her biggest supporter and protector yet he could treat Nancy so disrespectfully??? What was up with that?

Grady's brothers are hilarious and he wanted to kill them all, when they teased him over and over again! Awesome story!

This is a spin-off of the Camos & Cupcakes world and was absolutely fantastic. Sydney is trying to get ahead in what is largely a man’s world, so she is very careful with her reputation. Her boss Grady Hawthorne tests that on a daily basis. Grady knows she is amazing at her job and that he could never replace her so they both fight their attraction to the other. Grady decides that he is willing to break his own rule and try to have a relationship with her, but they both decide to keep it a secret at the office. Since no one knows about them, one request from Grady’s father, who still has a small hand in the family business, could make or break their relationship. Can their relationship survive the stress and will they be able to move past the fact that Grady kept more than just the relationship a secret?

This is a lovely, quite gentle, romantic comedy that has two alpha personalities who butt heads delightfully while stumbling their way to their HEA. Both Syd and Grady are smart and driven, though Grady is the grumpy boss and Syd the clever beauty he just won't admit to wanting! With his fabulous tribe of brothers and the counter balance of Travis and Nancy, Grady has his work cut out to remain aloof. Just not going to happen!
This has been an absolute pleasure to read and I would be happy to spend more time in the company of this ensemble of characters. Lovely! 💗💗💗💗

Hate To Love You by Melissa Schroeder has it all. It’s a romantic, witty, funny story between Sydney and Grady. They have amazing chemistry which builds throughout their story. Sydney is strong, smart and sassy and at times you forget who’s the boss. Syd and Grady deal with current workplace issues and it makes this story relatable to readers. I always enjoy a great spin-off series when characters you’ve met before filter back in and tie back to a previous story. I love the setup of development of future character relationships and Melisssa doesn’t disappoint. Who’s up next I wonder? Carter, Nancy, Travis.........

This rom-com was simply delightful!!! Sydney and Grady's story had no difficulty in capturing and holding my interest. These appealing characters will make you laugh, have you rooting for them and in the end leave you feeling swoony. The story line offers up a entertaining blend of drama, emotions, humor, snappy chemistry, clever banter and heat. A few well placed twists help keep you on your toes as this couple's relationship evolves. I just loved this highly entertaining romance. This is my elective, candid review.

Sydney goes above and beyond for her job as Grady's executive assistant. The friction in their relationship is based on unrequited attraction. Things heat up at an event that changes their relationship. Lots of love and humor. Such a good book, well written!

Sydney had me laughing right from the first page. It was such a funny but great juxtaposition - a feisty assistant and an a stick-up-his-ass CEO. The story was very well written, dialogue was on point, just the way I like it. The secondary characters were absolutely fun to to get to know. Carter was such a hoot. I hope the writer can write books on them so Nancy and Travis get a HEA and whatever is wrong with Quinn is resolved with the help of a feisty lady!

I will definitely be looking out for other books by the author

Hate to Love You

I love this book! I love the expansion on some of the characters from Camo & Cupcake series. Syd can be very sarcastic and mean to her boss, Grady. But on the inside she is very attracted to him. Grady wants Sydney but he doesn't mix pleasure with co-workers. Then things begin to change. I really enjoyed the banter between these two. I loved reading about Grady coming out of his hard exterior. I am really hoping for books for Travis and Nancy and for the other brothers. I loved loved loved this book!

Absolutely loved the sexual tension between Grady and Sydney, this couple has sparks flying in every direction. This book was so much fun to read, all the supporting characters being siblings add the laugh out loud factor and of course the ever sibling rivalry. I liked the storyline with an easy transition from both POV, plus the added commentary from all their siblings. Great start to a new series. Looking forward to reading the rest about the Fillmore and Hawthorne crew.
