Working at a shop called the Vagile Ajna in a town called Cummings Cove, across the street from a store named Cummings Master Baiter was clearly not enough for me.
I had to go and find myself a Police Chief named Phoquin, two shifter twins that tend to ‘lose’ their pants, and a murder.
I don’t know why I expected things to be normal in a place that offers visitors a “Cummings Good Time?” but I certainly didn’t expect to be charged with murder.
Oh, did I forget to mention that I am the prime suspect? Yeah, that’s a thing.
A suspect who is being hunted by a wolf with an eyepatch that came to take me back to my pack after I kinda-maybe killed someone.
That’s the second dead body, if you’ve been keeping track.
So, I’m a murderer-arsonist, hiding in a town with a few too many secrets. Good thing I have my Shifter Twins to keep me safe.
Too bad someone else wants me dead more.
Scarlet and her Misfit Shifter Pack is a full-length Why Choose Romance with more than a few muscley shifters to wet your fancy. With a mystery to solve, and three guys to woo our girl, these page-turning scenes will make you want to lock your door and shut out the world for a while. No batteries required.
After seeing the cover, and reading the description, I was very excited to read Zero Fox to Give. However, after not even three percent of the book, I had to drop it. This story is obviously a spin-off of another series, which is completely fine as long as it has all of the relevant information. But this story started with the main character masturbating in the bathroom and then promptly having a menage a trois with a pair of twins with no build up whatsoever. Nothing wrong with some heat, but the actual writing was fairly cringe, "See my wet". A small example of some of the language that disrupted the scene. I couldn't even make it through this scene without exiting the book. Pretty disappointing.
I love the mystery twist to this since it now takes place away from the school. Scarlet seems a bit more stubborn now than before and she definitely knows what she wants. The town they end up in is certainly unique. I love the town theme. It certainly had me cracking up. This author definitely has a sense of humor and it comes out in her books.
Ivy Porter defeated her enemies with her mates and her best friend Scarlet by her side. Well, Scarlet now has her own series, Zero Fox to Give is the first book in the Misfit Shifters series. The story follows Scarlet as she finds her own harem and tries to find a place in the world but it's kinda hard to do with the mischievous twins, Eric and Owen (from Bloodwood Academy), overzealous humor, a crazy cult, and being a murder suspect might make things a little harder.
Turns out Scarlet is funnier than I remember (questioning her sanity at every turn) and has a bigger personality, not over the top but not as placid, I like her. I loved getting to know about Scarlet's history, her life before Bloodwood was surprising and doesn't seem to fit her personality at all. No wonder she wanted to go away to school, being away from her community allowed her to grow and become more of the person she was meant to be.
Eric and Owen are silly, goofy, and generally a pair of playful cat shifters. Over the top at times and I don't know how Scarlet stands it at times but they are also protective and possessive now that Scarlet and the guys have decided to pursue a relationship. When did the twins get hot? After a few hints, it seems like the twins are hiding something about their past and I'm dying to know what it is, I'm hoping to get more from them in this series. This is a reverse harem so there may or may not be a couple other potentials to join the group. The two potentials aren't bad and at least one of them is super mysterious.
The story picks up right after the events of Bloodwood Academy, first Scarlet heads home and that's a disaster and ends with a great escape. Scarlet's community is not what I pictured and are crazy af. The trio winds up in a misfit shifter community, it's a community made up of shifters who've been kicked out of their communities for one reason or another or for some other odd reason. These people are jumpy and mistrustful of others but most of all weird. The community as a whole and individually is weird and has sketchy vibes in general. H
Zero Fox to Give was a great start to Scarlet's story. It was interesting, Foxx has done a great job building this Misfit community and creating an entertaining story, with mysterious shifters, plenty of sexy times, the humor, and a murder mystery all made for a good story. Zero Fox to Give is just the first book in Scarlet's story and it ends with one heck of a plot twist. I'm looking forward to the rest.
Zero Fox to Give A Rejected Pack Romance (Exiled World: Misfit Shifters, Book 1) By: Rae Foxx, Rebecca Ethington Narrated by: Meghan Kelly
This is an entertaining fantasy, paranormal, reverse harem romance, the story is original and interesting, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. This is my first Rae Foxx book, she is a gifted author with an imaginative mind, the characters and storylines she created are fascinating and unique. The lead character Scarlet, a fox shifter, she recently learns she was fated with two mates, twin brothers, Evan and Owen, who are sand cat shifters. She grew up in a puritan like cult setting and her visit home does not go as planned, she and her two mates barely escape out of there with their lives. On the run Scarlet thinks it is best that they go to where her Aunt Nancy lives, a sanctuary city for those exiled from their packs, Cummings Cove, a very bizarre place, her Aunt now goes by the name Poetry and she runs a business named Vagile Ajina actually most of the other businesses have $exual innuendoes in their names, at least that is how the twins and Scarlet read it. A lot goes on in this fast- moving story and there is never a dull moment, with many over the top antics and scenes, lots of hot sexy times, crazy humor, some mystery, twists and turns and a reverse harem that doubled for Scarlet. Rae Foxx thank you for this greatly entertaining story.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Meghan Kelly’s talent has no bounds, she is a versatile voice artist who is outstanding at covering both the male and female roles, giving each a voice that suits the character’s persona, sounding believable in every role she plays. She handles the snarky wit and back-and-forth dialogue with ease, switches roles flawlessly, never missing a beat. Her pacing is spot on and she sets the perfect tone for the story, capturing all the characters emotions, their passion and projects them into her performance. Meghan Kelly is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.
I really enjoyed this book. Yes, the twins are way less protective than you think mates should be but I think its because they went through everything with Ivy and her mates while at Bloodwood Academy before coming mates so they know that she’s bada*se in her own right and can protect herself. Wow, no wonder she didn’t talk much about where she came from as it’s a religious c*lt, but not just any religion but one that think Oberion the first shifter created and Ivy’s psycho dad who nearly ended the world when he came under Nicky’s spell is like a God so that should say something about them. It doesn’t turn out well for them when they get caught together and are brought to the Alpha and they end up escaping after Scarlet k*lled the Alpha with the rusty sword that he was going to use to mutilate the twins before k*lling them, forcing Scar to watch and forcing her to mate with a fox so I don’t blame them for running and they go to the only place Scar can think is her Aunt Nancy who lives in a Sanctuary city so any shifters are welcome know questions asked. Danger seems to have followed them when Scar finds the Butcher m*rdered and meets the Chief of Police Phoquinn aka Travis and then finds the man behind the Wolf who she thought was after her for the m*rder of the Alpha as it’s the Wolf that they saw at the Airport headed off to the San Fransisco Zoo but really he’d scented her and it made him realise what he was so he followed her. Scar only thought she’d had two mates but now she has 4. I’m looking forward to reading the next book to see what antics her and her mates get up too next. I’d recommend this book, series and authors to everyone.
Wholly hotness this book is good!! Be prepared to get hot early on!! So remember Scarlet from Bloodwood Academy series, well she is back with her own series. She brought the twins with her. So we learn a little bit more about Scarlet and where she is from. Let me tell you, I probably would have high tailed it out of there too. Scarlet has grown to her own woman and now she knows that things are different. One of them being that she has more than one mate. Wahoo go Scarlet! Once she gets back to her home town, things don't look good for her and her mates. It is scary!! She ends up going to her Aunts and is being followed by a wolf. Then she gets put right smack in the middle of something bad and meets a very handsome cop Travis. Now Scarlets inner monologue is freaking hilarious. Keep in mind she took the harem book from Ivy, so what is going on in her head. So what does she do? Well, you need to read the book to find out. You will be surprised by all the twist you will come across when reading. But Rae Foxx will not let you down with this series. I cannot wait for the next book.
I found this story to be hilarious. It’s got a lot of elements I like or look for in a good listen. Paranormal with different kinds of shifters. Romance with multiple love interests with little to no jealousy making this a good example of reverse harem. Suspense with a murder (or few) to solve. And a lot of wit particularly from the leading lady Scarlett. There were a lot of steamy moments in this book, in fact from the very beginning. But there were also so many silly comments and situations that I found myself laughing in moments were it almost might have seemed too over the top. I just kind of felt like this book was a good time, and despite the murder and who-done-it aspect going on, I could settle in and enjoy whatever came next. I would certainly continue with the series on audio. Especially with a great talent like Meghan Kelly doing the narration. She just gives great voice to all the humor and fun moments as well as changing her tone so excellently for all these different characters throughout.
Zero Fox to Give was a totally fantastic listen; it's wonderfully written, super entertaining, and imaginative paranormal reverse harem romance with a fabulous cast and superb narration. As soon as I started listening, I was hooked. The storyline is fast-paced, unique, fascinating, engaging, humorous, eventful, and steamy, wrapped in HOT guys, murder, suspense, and surprising twists. The characters are incredibly appealing, diverse, colourful with distinct personalities. I was definitely charmed by Scarlet, a fox shifter, and I really enjoyed the interplay between her and her men. Can't wait for the second book to be released!
Outstanding performance by Meghan Kelly. She captured and portrayed the characters personalities, emotions, and connections flawlessly. I was completely engrossed and could easily picture the characters and the scenes. Zero Fox to Give was fun, hot, and a highly enjoyable listen, one I'll wholeheartedly recommend.
I wanted to like this spin off series, but it just wasn’t for me.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW 🎧 Well, this was an interesting listen to say the least. I'm not huge on the shifter/paranormal genre (anymore I used to be) but decided to give this one a try. It's sexy and hot, but at times it felt like TOO MUCH if that makes sense? Like ok let them have their smexy times but why was it at that exact moment when it shouldn't have you know? The mystery/suspense added to this story is what kept it interesting to me and kept my attention but come on! That cliffhanger?!?! I feel like I want the next book just to know what happens next but not sure if I will be picking it up yet or not.
What's a fox to do? Scarlette was raised in a cult. Foxes had 1 mate that was a fox. She has twin sand cats. She ran to Cummings. A safe haven for misfit shifters. The butcher was murdered. This book leads us on a merry chase to find the killer. When we do he is murdered. It ends with a cliffhanger . I recommend it to those with a little Nancy Drew in you. Be prepared to laugh. Enjoy !I did.
I find the twins hilarious and was giggling out loud a few times. So did parts in the book. The mystery kept me reading until I finished the book. The sex scenes were amazing. The sexual tension build up with the new guys was great and not prolonged.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and waiting for the next books is going to b painful!!
Bloodwood Academy was so my jam... crazy antics, hot sex, RH... sign me up! This is a continuation of that story and but following Scarlett and the twins! The sex is fantastic (like wowzers), her inner monologue kept me in stitches, the sass off this girl is just fantastic! come on book two!
I made it 30% through and gave up on it. I am generally the type of person to read a book cover to cover. I will say I didn't read the series that lead up to this series. I don't know if that would help. Not for me despite it beinging in the genre I usually read.
If you don't love the one you are supposed to......
Love the ones you SEER to be with. You love two guys but your family want you to marry to make the family important again. What will you do? Your family is not with today's ideas with relationships. One man, one woman = marriage. Nothing else is possible or there is consequences. What do you decide? Love or family?
If I’m being completely honest this book has some moments that made me cringe. There’s just too much innuendo in this storyline. I feel that it wouldn’t of harmed the book/storyline to tone it down a little. The storyline is good and there was a lot of chemistry between these characters. Meghan has given a brilliant performance.
The main character doesn't listen and doesn't learn. It would be one thing is she had growth through out the book but she keeps making the same stupid mistakes. She acts all sex crazed but then she sees lube and loses her shit. This book doesn't make any sense. Poor writing
I loved reading about Scarlett and her mates. The story was fun, surprising and sassy. Great FMC and the way the boys came in was nice. Nice twists and turns while keeping it light and fun.
The storyline reminded me of a sex up Zootopia. :) The sex scenes were hot. The mystery of who the killer is.... well I have no clue! I do have two suspects but .... who knows where the author is going to go with.
I won't give any spoilers, but once you read the back room scene you will roll on the floor laughing! I couldn't stop. 😁 It was great! This story really is good.
I absolutely loved the book! Her sense of humor and the twins hunor 😂😂 It is a perfect spin-off. You can read it without needing to read her other serie. Zero Fox to Give is funny, awesome, intriguing and full of suspense. It keeps you on your toes for sure!!
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters and how they came together. I can't wait to see what will happen next for them and find out who is behind these killings.
Truths need to come out especially now they’re all mated because they are all keeping some sort of secrets. That town is full of horny supernaturals. Scarlett’s family and pack or a bunch of psychos . I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Scarlett gets in as much trouble as her friend Ivy.She is out to solve a murder which may very well cause her own death. With her 4 mates in tow,Scarlett is ready to go.Great story, can't wait to read the next one.
This story was...okay. It had potential to be really great, and maybe in book 2, it will be. Though I enjoyed it, it just didn't live up to my expectations. Lots of sex, which, I really don't have an issue with, but I felt like it was just randomly used instead of creating tension, or making the overall story development better. Enjoyable characters, with room for growth (which I do like with the MFC, especially in a series like this)
The twins are hilarious, and excellent comedic fodder. Scarlet’s innocence and naivety is explained when they visit her home town. And if that was my aunt, I’d probably be hiding somewhere else.
I kept waking my own mate, laughing too loudly. The balance of personalities in the harem is perfect and priceless. Scarlett is totally adorable, fierce, and unique.
